Chapter Text
Mizuki positioned themself beneath Ena’s window, a collection of small stones resting in their cupped hand. They’d grabbed as many as they could hold, not really trusting them to wake Ena from her sleep.
They thought for a second about whether this was actually a good idea or not, then shrugged and began to toss the pebbles one by one. Why wouldn’t it be a good idea? They were a genius!
Eventually, all the small stones had been thrown, and Ena still hadn’t appeared at the window like people did in the movies. It was almost like real life didn’t work like TV at all, Mizuki thought.
They looked around them at the ground, a slightly bigger stone catching their eye. They reached for it, aimed at the glass and threw it with a little too much power. The rock made contact with the window, and Mizuki watched helplessly as the glass cracked, then smashed altogether, as though in slow motion.
The glass fell over the windowsill and down to the ground in front of them with a cacophony of crashes. Mizuki stood on the grass, frozen in shock. They looked up at the window and saw the outline of a figure approaching, and they shot to press themself against the wall out of sight. They heard the scrape of metal against metal as Ena drew her curtains, peering out into the darkness.
“What the hell…”
