Chapter Text
Touya ambled along the edge of the ocean, lugging a bucket full to the brim with a plethora of different shells and fossils. Emu charged ahead down the shore, now and then bending down to grab something that caught her eye, then dashing back to Touya and showing him excitedly before tossing it into the bucket. Emu’s energy always made Touya smile - her joy was so contagious.
After a while, Emu called out to Touya, beckoning him to a rock pool she’d discovered. He placed the bucket onto the sand and crouched down beside her, peering down into the water, eager to see what Emu had spotted.
A slight movement caught his eye and Emu started slapping his arm excitedly, pointing aggressively at a small crab by the edge of the pool. “Touya! Touya, look! Look!” she yelled, squealing in delight. She beamed up at him, and he grinned back.
Nobody could make Touya smile as effortlessly as she could.
