Quackity was never a big fan of parties, he preferred to keep to himself and hang out with one or two of his friends. But when he got an invite, he couldn’t decline. It was a birthday party after all, what could go wrong there?
So as he got ready and picked out a gift, he was set off to the haunted mansion the party was being held at. It was quite a distance from the main part of the SMP, but he didn’t mind. When he arrived there, the building gave off an eerie vibe. But it was expected.
He entered the building, getting greeted by Karl who showed him downstairs where the party was happening. He could hear chattering as the two walked down the stairs, most likely from the rest of the guests. When he saw how many people were there, he got a bit anxious. Was he really sure he wanted to be here? He could see some of his friends, but there were people he didn’t know that were there.
He tried to keep that thought away for now, and walked up to Niki. It was her birthday after all. He gave her the gift, hugged her and went to a corner of the room where he could calm himself down, even if it wasn’t much. The chattering made it hard to drown out his thoughts. But he couldn’t just leave, not after just arriving, so he stayed.
He had a few drinks here and there, chatted with a few of his friends but still didn’t feel that comfortable being in such a big crowd. He kept to the same corner for most of the time, until someone sat next to him, having had a few too many drinks it seems. That person was Wilbur, who’d been enjoying the party a lot more than Quackity.
“Well Quacky, enjoyin’ the party?” Wilbur said, with a stupid grin on his face. Also he’d never called Quackity that nickname, where’d that come from?
“Eh...Could be better. Not a big party person. You seem to be enjoying yourself, though.” Quackity replied, ready to have the conversation end at that. What he wasn’t expecting was the other grabbing his arm and pulling him into the crowd of people.
“What are you doing, Wil?”
“C’mon, have a dance with me for once! We haven’t done this in ages!”
Yeah. They haven’t. Last time they danced together was when they felt free. When all that they worried about was some boring election. They were a lot more free back then.
But here they were, surrounded by people, Wilbur being the only thing holding Quackity from getting lost. He pulled Quackity more closer to him, putting his free hand around his waist, but refusing to let go of Quackity’s hand.
“Do we have to do this..?” Quackity asked, putting his own free hand on Wilbur’s shoulder. He didn’t mind them dancing but in a place like this, he felt unsafe.
“It’ll be only for a bit, ‘ight? You worry too much!” Wilbur replied, starting to slowly, but surely, dance. Quackity simply followed whatever the other was doing. He felt himself get more relaxed. Maybe it was the presence of the taller, maybe it was the fact they were so close .
The two were like that for a while, but the discomfort from Quackity’s end was still there. He excused himself from Wilbur’s presence, walking to the main table full of food and drinks. He grabbed a cup, poured himself a drink and drank it. Maybe it would help him ease his mind a little if he was a bit tipsy. It wouldn’t be that bad.
He looked for Wilbur, seeing him back at the corner where he had been for the majority of the party. Walking over, he sat down next to him. The two sat in silence, listening to the music and chatter of people. It was nice to be like this. To be in the presence of a friend.
Wilbur stood up, motioning for Quackity to follow him. They went to a more secluded place of the room, which did confuse Q.
“Could tell you didn’t feel comfortable bein’ around there.” Wilbur said, leaning against the wall.
Guess I made that obvious for him. Great. What else. Q simply thought.
The two were still standing in silence, next to one another. Quackity wanted something. Anything. His mind was clouded, but he knew that something was associated with Wilbur. The smell of gunpowder and cigarettes, those made him know he needed to be around the other. He didn’t care in what way, he just needed that presence. That calmness.
Still hearing the music, more muffled this time, Wilbur grabbed Quackity and slowly swayed with him.
“We don’t have to do this, Wilbur. Your moves suck anyway.” Quackity said.
“What else do you have in mind then, Quackity? We could do anything you want.” Wilbur said, stopping.
I want you. I want to hold you. Know what it’s like to be in love.
That final thought made him flustered, which Wilbur noticed.
“Tell me your thoughts, Quackity.” he said, leaning down to Q’s height. Neither of his hands were restricting him from walking away, yet it felt like they were. It wasn’t a bad feeling, but he couldn’t say what he was thinking either. His mind was dazed.
“And what if I don’t? Will you pry them out of me?” Quackity replied, trying to make himself seem cocky. All Wilbur did in response was let out a small chuckle.
“I won’t pry anything out of you, but I know another way to let yourself tell me your thoughts.” Wilbur said, grabbing Quackity and going up the stairs. Nobody cared to notice. The two were walking in the forest, the night breeze making Q get chills. Wilbur led them to a place nearby Pogtopia. The place they’d usually visit during these times.
“What are we doing here, of all places?” Quackity asked, Wilbur letting go of his hand now.
“We usually share our thoughts here, do we not? C’mon. Be honest with me here.” Wilbur replied, turning to face Quackity.
He can’t fuck it up now. Sure, they’d...been more affectionate before, but it was all a ‘joke’. A blissful lie. Wilbur wouldn’t react happily to this. He’d turn him down and refuse to acknowledge him again. That’s how it always went, in his thoughts.
But also...They were here. It would be the perfect time to just do it. It would be so easy to just grab him and get lost in the messy thoughts of his.
He walked up to Wilbur, getting a confused head tilt from the other. He could do it. He would do it.
Grabbing the collar of his jacket, he pulled Wilbur down gently. Their faces were close. So, so close. Wilbur did nothing, he was simply waiting for the next move.
Letting a shaky breath out, Quackity leaned in for the kiss. Wilbur was expecting it, so he simply wrapped his arms around Q. Wilbur tasted like cigarettes, something he never expected to enjoy the taste of. They stayed like that for a bit, until Quackity pulled away, a flustered mess.
He let go of Wilbur’s collar and was ready to move on from that moment, but Wilbur knew the ways to simply catch him off guard now. He grabbed Q again, kissing him with more meaning this time. It felt like another blissful lie. Yet Quackity wanted this to happen forever. He held onto Wilbur’s shoulders, enjoying the moment they were in now.
When it ended, Wilbur looked at the other with a gentle smile. It was a moment Quackity could appreciate for once. Something he could keep close to his heart.
Quackity leaned into a hug, not letting go. He wanted this memory to be something he’d remember months from now. Something he could look back on without feeling stings in his heart.
They stayed like that, until the sunrise.
