Love is your armor

Summary:

Obi-Wan is super tired after a battle; Cody shares something special with him and Obi-Wan decided that crying is the perfect way to respond to that. Cody just takes care of Obi-Wan.

Mando'a translation -

Mirshko, cuyir gar kot
kar'taylir darasuum, cuyir gar beskar'gam
may ner prayer c'ogir te Ka'ra

--

Courage, is your strength
Love, is your armor
may my prayer reach the stars

Notes:

Codywan week - day 2, lightsaber and traditions/language. I am gonna try and meld as many of them as possible and honestly, I thought this would be trash. BUt I put in all my favorite tropes. Obi-Wan getting drugged, someone taking care of him and him not having a choice. Well, it's questionable but this is my self care so I don't really need to explain it. lol.

enjoy.

Work Text:

Obi-Wan sat languidly on his sleep couch; the battle had gone on longer than he had anticipated and he was two parsecs from collapsing. Cody had gotten him to his quarters with the promise of more work, but instead, he made the other sit and forced some water and a ration bar down him. Then, he'd turned to cleaning his armor. Obi-Wan watched sleepily, he hadn't changed or cleaned. He really didn't care too. He could go to sleep right where he sat.

"Sir, may I clean your lightsaber?" Cody asked softly. Obi-Wan was actually almost asleep but that roused him.

"Why?"

"It's caked in blood and dirt, sir." Cody smiled gently at him.

"and, it's a way we show we care for each other, if a vod is too tired or injured, we ask to clean their armor..."

"I would be honored, Cody..." Obi-Wan said softly. "what did you put in that water anyway?"

"I can't get anything past you, can I, sir?"

"No...was it muscle relaxant?"

"Acid wanted you to actually rest." Cody replied. He took the lightsaber from his belt, Obi-Wan had wondered why Cody hadn't returned it to him but he wasn't bothered by it at all. He trusted Cody with his life.

Cody took up a clean rag and some cleaner, softly and slowly he rubbed the metal Obi-Wan had used to build his saber. He watched quietly. Blood and mud coming away easily under Cody's short movements.

"Mirshko, cuyir gar kot

kar'taylir darasuum, cuyir gar beskar'gam

may ner prayer c'ogir te Ka'ra" Cody said.

Obi-Wan felt tears reach his eyes, he couldn't wipe them away and Cody didn't look up to watch. Obi-Wan didn't know why he suddenly felt so emotional. He was just too tired, and here Cody was imparting something very important to him.

He closed his eyes, more tears making their way down his face. Then he felt a comforting weight at his side. "Sir?"

"I'm fine, Cody...it's just....You're sharing something very important and my shields are just....."

"You're tired, sir." Cody said softly, kissing Obi-Wan on the temple. "Your lightsaber is clean and safe. Let me help you."

Obi-Wan doesn't know how Cody got the dirty robes off him, or how he'd gotten the warm water to wipe him down before dressing him in sleep wear and tucking him into the scratchy woolen blankets the GAR were equipped with; but Cody didn't seem to treat it as a chore.

His every touch was gentle, his every word was soft. He knew exactly what Obi-Wan needed; and being too tired to argue, Obi-Wan allowed it to happen. His control of the Force at the moment is questionable at best and if he had insisted on doing it alone, none of it would have happened.

Cody turned the lights down low, then settled on the floor before the sleep couch; "Cody?" Obi-Wan muttered from his pillow.

"I'll just stay here, sir. The others are fine. I've been getting updates. Wooley needs a bit more responsibility anyway if you want to give him that promotion." Cody replied quietly. He turned the blue glow of his bad down so as not to strain Obi-Wan's eyesight

"I may have also put a little bit of a Force Suppressor in that water as well, sooooo...."

"Evil." Obi-Wan whined. Actually whined. Cody chucked at him.

"It's for your own good, General. We take it seriously."

Obi-Wan felt himself actually falling asleep now. "I'm gonna have to have a talk with that lot of you about your possessiveness....."

"We can't help what we were born with, sir."

Obi-Wan would have answered with something sassy, but he was asleep before Cody could finish his sentence.
