Work Text:
The morning sky was stormy and dark. Heavy raindrops pounded against the glass windows of the hospital wing. The grey swirling clouds permeated the room making it an imitation of night. Remus rolled over in their sleep, knocking the book that laid beside him off of the bed. Sirius quickly reached out to stop the paperback from hitting the floor, Remus continued breathing softly. Once Sirius placed the book next to the untouched platter of food, brought in by Miss Pomfrey, he scooted his chair closer to Remus. He softly brushed his fingers over the scar that met Remus’s jaw. He was met with rough skin, it evoked an intense longing in Sirius, for what, he didn’t know. He shifted slightly and noticed a new scar on Remus’s neck. It stood out from their skin, the scar was pale pink. He knew Remus’s skin was more delicate there, but he couldn’t resist tracing it with his fingers.
The rain continued to rampage outside as Sirius twisted a lock of Remus’s hair, when he let go it bounced back into a loose curl. The patterning of the rain and the repetitive twisting of Remus’s hair lulled Sirius to sleep. His head rested on the bed just below Remus’s chin. Sirius could smell the light scent of the earl grey tea, but mostly he could smell Remus. He slept until the rain stopped and the clouds began to part. The lack of noise and Remus’s sudden movement startled Sirius awake. Sirius blushed at how he had fallen asleep, he then untangled his hand from Remus’s hair and hid behind the hospital curtain. He stood silently until Remus woke up and reached onto the side table for their book. Sirius quietly bolted out of the hospital wing and into the dormitory. Sirius attempted to slow his breathing, his heart was racing in his chest. He pretended to sleep in his four-poster until James woke him and Peter to go visit Remus. Sirius was just as nervous to see him as he had been earlier, but he couldn’t wait to go again. He still didn’t know why.
