Chapter Text
Marinette is an angel, a special one. She has a unique ability to hide her wings, so she would look like a human. She used her abilities to do her special task, which is to go to the mortal world, to ensure everything is in balance. At first, everyone thought that she was an ordinary angel like everyone else was. She lived a normal life as an angel until one day when it all changed. She was doing a simple task when she accidentally discovered that she could hide her wings, which isn't common among angels. It's a rare ability for an angel, only a few could. When news spread, everyone in heaven knew she was a unique angel. The superiors called her and she was given a special task. She was to go to the human world to help bring peace and balance since she could blend in with them, so she would not get spotted easily. She of course did it, at first she struggled since she didn't really fit in but after some time, she adapted and enjoyed doing the task. She loved spending time with the human kids, going to beautiful meadows of flowers and helping people. The humans loved her company. She was always kind and cheerful, like a ball of sunshine, a girl with a heart of gold. Everyone liked her. They think she was a living angel which she is but, nobody knows that she was actually one. She kept it hidden from everyone in the human world, she travels the world and everywhere she goes, everyone truly loved her. Marinette has lots of friends, angels and humans, she is loved by everyone because of her kindness. But, she has close friends, who she spends time with and hangs out with. But they are humans, so they don't know that she is an angel with hidden wings. Chloe, Luka and Kagami, also known as MPS (Marinette Protection Squad). They made MPS because they wanted to protect her from the bad. She's too pure and kind for this world. So, they made it a mission to protect her. And apparently, she has to go to another city and her next destination is Gotham City.
At Paris
Marinette was currently in Chloe's suite and was packing her things. "Hey Mari-bug, are you going somewhere?" Chloe questioned from the couch.
"Yes, and I'm moving" Marinette answered and sighed.
She had to break the news to her. She'll definitely miss her and the rest but, she already told them that she did some special task and they knew she had to move to another city every time she is done with her task in each city.
"W-where?" Chloe stuttered out and walked to towards her, she took a deep breath. Knowing it was going to happen sooner or later.
"I am going to go to another city. Its called Gotham" Marinette replied as Chloe gasped and her eyes widened. Gotham?
Why that city of all the cities in the world!? Why does Maribug have to go there!?
"What? Is there something wrong? Did I do something?" Marinette asked frantically.
Chloe shook her head and spoke up, "No, it's not you. I'm going to miss you" Chloe hugged her and she hugged back.
"But you haven't heard it, have you?" Chloe asked, quite alarmed and she asked, "Heard what?"
"You are spending too much time designing. That's why you don't know any news. Ridiculous Utterly Ridiculous!" Chloe exclaimed and Marinette giggled, she's back.
"I guess but I do like designing, I got to make a lot of my designs to clothes." Marinette tried to argue despite her growing smile.
Chloe spoke up, "Anyways, Gotham is a dark city and also, a crime ridden city."
Chloe frowned she knew she'll definitely miss her and all. But she is way too worried about Marinette moving there. What will happen when she moves there? She has moved to different cities around the world but, Gotham is different, it's very dangerous. She is worried about her, she isn't ready to go there. There are tons of crimes there and she's not even exaggerating it.
"What do you mean?" Marinette asked and she answered, "Well, there is tons of crime in Gotham. There are lots of criminals, some on the loose and some on Arkham but they would probably escape sooner or later. And they're everywhere, in the streets or buildings. Nowhere is safe there!" She warned and shivered frightened and Marinette looked at her, Maribug is definitely thinking so, that's a relief.
Marinette finally spoke up, "Oh, it's fine. I know that there is good in that city despite the crimes and criminal." And gave her a kind smile.
She's too kind for her own good and she mentally facepalmed.
"Your too kind Mari-bug. You always are, you always see the good in people despite them being bad. You're too good for your own good. It could get you hurt someday." She sighed and Marinette giggled in response.
"Don't worry that much Chlo, I'll be fine" Marinette smiled and she couldn't help but smile slightly.
She is too worried for her, will she be ok there? She hope so, she doesn't want anything to happen to her.
At the Miraculous HQ
"Luka, Kagami" Marinette called out, she and Chloe just arrived at their place.
They decided to get one after lots of consideration. So, they could gather and hang out together here, it's like their own safe haven. Their place is used for multipurpose (hang out area and HQ for Heroes duties).
It's quite huge, with a huge living room, used as multipurpose, that's connected with the kitchen. There are other rooms, like bedrooms, training room, tech room and etc. She spotted them were, they were sitting in the beanbags together and they turned to our direction.
"What are you guys doing?" Chloe asked teasingly from behind her and the pair blushed.
Did she forget to mention that they both are dating, Luka and Kagami! They are a cute couple! They complemented each other, that's what makes them so balanced, they balance each other.
"What brings you here?" Luka asked, still had some blush from his initial embarrassment.
"Well, we need to tell you both some news" Chloe sighed and gesture for her to continue.
"I am moving to Gotham" She announced and both of their faces morphed into shock.
"You're moving to Gotham?" Luka questioned, surprised by the sudden news.
"Yes, I am. It'll be great!" She replied.
Don't get her wrong, she is sad that she is going to leave them but like she said, she did tell them about it. And this is life, she have been doing this lots of time and it's always sad every time but they do get in touch.
"It isn't Mari-hime." Kagami started. "We will miss you. And you do know that Gotham is a crime ridden city right?"
She nodded in affirmation, "I know, Chloe told me earlier when I told her about the news" She huffed.
She couldn't help when they sometime treat her like a baby. They don't really need to be so worried about her, yes, she appreciate that they are but she doesn't want them to worry about her that much.
They looked at Chloe and she nodded.
"Why are you going there?" Luka then questioned.
She shrugged, "Well, my head wanted me to help there. I guess about the crime and some other things that's happening there. So, they send me there." She gave them a smile. It's part of the truth.
Although the true reason was because of the balance of ying and yang essence in the city is off by far. Or in other words, good and evil. The evil is tipped off quite far more compared to good. So, she was called to the city since she had actually completed her recent task.
"Yeah, it's not really that surprising." Kagami frowned, knowing what she said was something reasonable.
"What do you mean?" She questioned Kagami's sudden agreement. She haven't exactly done much prior research.
"Well, I heard lots of people had tried to help the said city but it never fully helped the city. It did help a bit though." Kagami answered and shrugged.
"Well, maybe I could help them" She thought out loud, thinking on how to restore balance there. Honestly, she haven't given too much thought yet.
Since she just gotten the task very recently, which was today....
Probably the solution would be similar to the past tasks she had accomplished. While they differ from each other, there was always some similar factors.
The others stared at her in concern while she was silence in thought, she didn't realize their stares on her.
Luka stared at Marinette who was busy doing something else, she looked unbothered by the news of her move.
He knew it was normal to her yet moving to a crime ridden city shouldn't be normal to anyone, especially her.
The news definitely gave him a surprise, they do know about her moving to different cities since she had told them all, but this time it's different.
They all would be missing her and all, but she's moving to Gotham, a crime city.
It didn't surprise him as much as the others, he didn't know they (the heads) would do it so quickly. He knew though that they would do it sooner or later.
He knew Mari is different, she's always special, something he just can't put his hands in.
Since the first time he met and heard her melody, it was just different from the rest. Her's was this soft and beautiful melody playing inside of her every time, it didn't really change even when she's mad or sad, it's still similar, something beautiful despite the hard and light tones added to it, it's the same song playing like a lullaby, added with a few touches.
He knew she was probably going to go there someday, but not this soon. He guess her head must be quite desperate.
His best guess is the crime there is getting worse. He know she'll do well, she is after all, their amazing leader that did lots of incredible things.
Kagami knew she couldn't believe her ears when she heard what Mari uttered to them, yet she had to accept it. Even if it was a crime ridden city. She already decided and she had to respect her choices even if she doesn't think it is fitting since she knew that she would go regardless of what they thought. She could only support her.
"Yeah, you are one of a kind Melody. I am sure you could do it." Luka, her partner acknowledged Mari first while she sighed. She knew he would thought the same.
Marinette beamed in gratitude, "Thank you!"
She is going to miss Marinette, everyone is, but she couldn't help but worry of her being in Gotham, Marinette's safety consumed her more.
Gotham is a dangerous city. Will she be alright? She know Mari is a kind and gentle person, so she would get hurt. Yes, she could defend herself, she have seen her do that but she never uses them unless it is absolutely necessary, which is rare in her civilian self.
"I will go grab some drinks!" Mari said and left to go to the kitchen, humming.
Luka spoke up as he looked at her, "Hey, you looked worried. Your worried about her?" She nodded.
"She'll be fine." He reassured, calming her a bit.
"But she is going to Gotham! You know that it's the most dangerous city in the whole world!" Chloe exclaimed and she couldn't help but nodded her head in agremeent.
"I know, but she could defend herself." Luka argued.
"She could, but we all know that she won't do it unless it's absolutely necessary. And she always sees the good in people, even if they are bad..."
"I am worried that she might get hurt because of that especially in Gotham. The people there aren't a joke, they are criminals, some maniacs, they would harm anyone and kill people for fun. They can use it to their advantage and hurt her." Kagami said, worried about her and Chloe nodded in agreement.
"I know she can protect herself, I have hope in her." Luka argued while they could only hope what he utter is the truth.
She is tempted to crush whoever thought sending Mari there was a good idea! Or if there is anyone who bothered her there, she wouldn't mind slicing them to death with her sword or miraculous in that matter. She could only hope that Mari would tell them the perpetrator and she could deal with them.
"We do too but, we're just scared something bad would happen to her. Why do they send her, instead another person? They know she is too good for her own good and yet send her to a crime ridden city! She could get extremely hurt!" Chloe exclaimed, seriously worried about her.
Mari-bug had told us about her head, she said that they are good people that wanted to help people. She is part of it and they gave her some tasks to help them. So, she moved to different cities after she completed her task there.
But, they took it too far this time, she know they meant well and knew about Mari being too kind for her own good and yet sent her there. The most crime ridden city in the world!
Luka spoke up, "She'll be fine. And they won't do it unless it's necessary, Chlo. You know that. They know she is the key to help that city. She is pure and kind, maybe that could bring the light there, maybe that's what the city needs. That's why they sent her there. And as I said, she is one of a kind." Luka smiled and she thought about what Luka had said.
She and Kagami nodded reluctantly, they couldn't argue with what Luka said because it is the truth.
"I guess, we hope she will be fine. But that doesn't mean that we won't go there if they lay a single hand on her." Chloe said out loud and Kagami nodded in agreement.
"I would bring my sword and kill anyone who dares lay a hand on her. But, Thanks Luka" Kagami said and kissed him.
Just on cue, Marinette came back from the kitchen.
"I'm back, do you want some?" Mari asked, holding some lemonade.
"Yes, please!" Chloe exclaimed, delighted at the refreshing drink.
As she grab a lemonade from the tray. Luka and Kagami nodded and followed suit. We drank and it tastes great and its refreshing as always.
"Oh hey guys! I didn't know you are all here." They all turned and saw Alix standing in the doorway.
"Hello Alix" Marinette greeted as they followed.
"What are you doing here? I thought there weren't any meeting?" She questioned and grabbed a lemonade and drank it.
"Well, Maribug is moving to Gotham"
She spit her lemonade, "What?!"
They then proceed to continue the long eventful chat ahead...
