Gentle... Lestat could be gentle. Lestat could be very gentle, indeed. Oh, it would not be easy, for when Louis clung to him this way, Lestat always felt decades of unfulfilled desire well up in him and threaten to burst, blinding, like an exploding star. But Louis was speaking to him now, and Lestat would listen. It was so rare for Louis to say such things, to give literal voice to what he wanted from Lestat, to bring it all out into the open and not leave these feelings shadowed behind glances and falsely-accidental touches.
