Going down like the Titanic

Summary:

Amelia, the oldest child of the Blight family, future heir to her parents' company, finds out something that will change everything and bring her a lot of trouble if she doesn't figure something out quickly.

Notes:

This actually started as a rewrite of an old story I wrote for an rp, but then I got inspired by JohnnysFire's story to write more.

This is a sibling AU with both the beta and pilot designs. Betas(Lucía and Amelia) are the oldest, 19 and 18 respectively. Pilots(Amber and Luca) are 17 and 18. Twins are 16 and Amity and Luz are 15 in the first chapter.

Quick note on eye colors, cuz I have different designs for everyone: Amelia=amber, Amber=hazel, Amity=gold, Lucía=red, Luca=right brown, left green, Luz=brown

Also, if any of my Spanish is wrong, please correct it.

Chapter 1: Month 1

Chapter Text

Amelia lies on her bed, subconsciously rubbing her stomach with her hand, where a new little life was now growing. She still can’t believe how she could’ve been so stupid as to let this happen.

It wasn’t that she hated the thought of having her own children one day, it was that she was only 18 and still lived with her parents. Parents who would disown her, throw her out or make her get rid of the baby. Probably all three if she was ‘lucky’.

The pale girl can feel her throat closing up, and a few tears slip out of her eyes before she hears a knock at her door. She quickly wipes her face, sitting up cross-legged, and pulls a pillow into her lap. As if she already has something to hide. “Come in.” She calls to the person on the other side of the door.

Amber opens the door and quietly slips in, closing the door behind her. She walks over and gestures to the bed as to ask for permission to approach. Amelia nods and the younger girl sits next to her, tucking her legs under herself.

They sit in silence for a while, only the amber eyed witch’s occasional sniffles echoing through the room. Amber’s soft voice rings out clearly in the quiet. “Do you want a distraction, comfort or a way to fix what’s hurting you?”

Amelia lets out a dry chuckle and goes to lie her head in her sister’s lap, pillow still clutched against her abdomen. “Comfort sounds great right now.” She thinks about how she was supposed to be the big sister and comfort her younger siblings, yet here she was, asking to be held as she cries. Amber nods and starts running her hand through her wild hair, as she purrs to further help calm her.

It all seemed to have the opposite effect though, as the older witches cries turned into nearly hysterical sobs and wet spots littered Amber’s thighs, but that don’t deter her. She knows Amelia just has to get whatever it is out of her system one way or another, and if crying is the way to go, then she will let her cry.

A few minutes later Amity peeks her head in the door, concerned about why her oldest sister sounded to be in so much distress. Amber waves her over, and she quickly crosses the room, curling up against Amelia’s chest with one arm hanging over her waist and purring along with the hazel eyed witch.

They stay huddled together and wait until the oldest has calmed down enough before asking her any questions. Amity is the first to speak up. “What happened Amelia? Are you okay?” She looks up, her ears lowered.

Amelia turns her eyes away and her breath hitching as she inhales slowly. “No, I’m not.” She removes the pillow between her and Amity to stroke her stomach. “I’m pregnant.” Her voice barely a whisper.

The teen’s eyes widen in surprise, and Amber asks the next question. “Do you know who it was?”

Amelia nods.

“Do they know?”

She shakes her head.

“Are you gonna tell them?”

She shrugs.

“I think you should. They at least deserve to know.”

“Why? What’s the point if mom and dad are gonna make me get rid of it? Why not save them the grief?” Anger slowly drips into her voice as Amity holds her hand between hers.

“Why? Because it’s their child too. They should get a say in what’s gonna happen next.”

“She wouldn’t give a shit! We’re supposed to hate each other!” Amelia snaps, fresh tears welling in her eyes. She sniffles and whispers again. “We’re supposed to hate each other.”

The younger two look at each other in confusion, before they come to the same conclusion. “Lucía?”

The next morning Amelia walks into school in a worse mood than usual. Lucía of course catches on and decides it’s a great idea to try and get a rise out of her.

She walks up to the shorter girl with a smirk on her face and leans against the locker demon next to hers. “Hey, Blighty. What crawled up your ass and died this morning?”

Amelia however is having none of it and snarls at her. “Leave me alone, Noceda.”

Lucía is a bit surprised at her sudden hostility. Usually she wouldn’t let her get to her this easily, or at least shoot snarky remarks back at her. “What did I do?”

“Just fuck off.” She grabs what she needs and starts walking away, looking increasingly pissed.

“Hey.” She goes to grab the witch’s wrist, only to have it immediately yanked away.

The shorter girl bares her fangs and growls, her ears pressed again her head and pupils turned into slits. One of her hands holds her books to her abdomen as the other is balled into a fist. “Don’t touch me! This is all your fault!” She yells at her before turning around and quickly making her way to the first class on the day, leaving behind a very confused Lucía.

°~♡~°

The rest of the day passes with Amelia avoiding the tall human as much as possible. Every time she tries to flag her down or starts walking towards her, the witch would walk faster or change direction. She even spent most of lunchtime outside, trying to push down her nausea enough to at least hold down a bit of whatever slop the cafeteria offered.

Sadly, the last class of the day was one both she and Lucía attended together. She thought about skipping, but she didn’t need to get into more trouble than she already was. She would just have to focus on the task at hand and get out as soon as the class ended. Yeah, that would have to work.

But as luck would have it the teacher had them sit together and not even half-way through Amelia’s nausea started to become worse. And on top of that, Lucía kept trying to get her to talk, making her more irritated than she already way.

The tan girl stops talking for a moment as she watches the witch for any reaction. “You look a bit green there. Are you feeling alright?” She asks.

Amelia stands up abruptly to go to the bathroom, but blacks out before she can get a word out. Lucía quickly catches her, so she doesn’t hit herself on any of the tables or chairs.

The teacher turns to see what the sudden commotion is about, and Lucía tell them that Amelia just suddenly fainted, and she’s gonna take her to the school nurse. They nod, and the human gently gathers the small witch in her arms and quickly makes her way out.

Amelia starts stirring just as Lucía is laying her down on a cot. She looks around confused until her eyes land on her savior, and she snarls at her. The nurse does a quick magical checkup on the witch, before turning to Lucía. “Miss Noceda, I think you should go back to class now. It’s best if Miss Blight stays here until the end of classes and rests before I send her home.”

The human looks at Amelia, who has her back turned to them, and nods. “Will she be okay?” She asks.

“Don’t worry, she will be fine.” The nurse assures her before ushering her out.

“I’ll bring you your things once class is over.” Lucía calls to the short witch and runs back hoping she didn’t miss too much of the lesson.

°~♡~°

The nurse walks to the cot Amelia is lying on. “Miss Blight…” She starts, but is cut off by the young witch.

“I know already. You can’t tell my parents, please.” She begs.

The nurse nods understandingly. “Of course. Have you considered your options of what you’re going to do?”

Amelia curls into herself as she tells her. “I haven’t decided yet.”

°~♡~°

As soon as the final bell rings, Lucía gathers her and Amelia’s things and almost sprints out of class. She finds the witch in nearly the same position as she was when she left. “Amelia?” She calls to her softly.

The witch doesn’t react, and Lucía figures she either didn’t hear her or is just ignoring her. She walks to the side the Blight is facing to see her scowling back at her. “Come on. Classes are over, I’m taking you home.”

“I don’t need a babysitter.” She mumbles angrily.

Lucía rolls her eyes. “I know, but you really scared me back there, and I wanna make sure you don’t split your head open and die on your way home.” She explains.

Amelia turns over, her back now facing the other girl again, and tells her. “Get out.”

The human sighs and adjusts the bags she’s carrying, then quickly pushing her hands under the witch and lifting her into her arms again. Amelia freezes for a second before she starts growling and roughly pushing against Lucía’s chest. “Put me down, you dirty rat.” She demands through gritted teeth.

The tan girl however doesn’t listen and just tightens her hold, so she doesn’t drop her with all her thrashing around. “Act like a baby. Get treated like a baby.”

Amelia stops herself from blurting out something stupid and punches her in the shoulder, which only get a small grimace out of her as she pushes the door open and starts walking out of the building. After a few minutes the witch stops struggling, but still glares at Lucía angrily. She just hopes no one important saw her like this.

A ways into the forest trail leading to the manor, Amelia slaps the human’s arm and wiggles around a bit, now looking paler than before. “Put me down. You’re giving me motion sickness.”

Lucía however doesn’t seem to be listening, so she grips one of her long strands of hair and yanks hard enough to make her look down. “I’m serious, I will throw up on you if you don’t.”

She sighs and gently set Amelia on her feet. The witch grabs onto Lucía’s forearm and hunches over slightly waiting for her stomach to stop turning, only for it to get worse. She runs behind a tree and promptly loses her lunch. The human follows her and holds back her hair as she coughs and heaves, grimacing at the smell.

When she’s done, Lucía gently leads her over to a rock to sit down. She fishes a water bottle out of her bag and hands it to her. She whispers a small ‘thanks’ before rinsing out her mouth and taking a few sips of water.

“You okay now?” She asks, gently rubbing circles on the witches back. She shakes her head and offers the bottle back, but Lucía pushes it back to her. “Can I help somehow?”

Amelia looks at her surprised, then turns away, squeezing her eyes shut and sighs. “Remember Rebecca’s party last month. I found out I’m pregnant, and it’s yours.”

The human’s eyes widen in shock. “That spell is functional? In that way?” Lucía takes a step back and sits down on the ground. “Shit.”

Amelia huffs, crossing her arms defensively. “Yeah, shit.”

Lucía gets up off the ground and starts pacing around, muttering to herself in Spanish. “¡Maldita mierda! ¿¡Como se supone que iba a saberlo?! ¡Ay Dios mío! Mamí estará muy decepcionada.

The witch pulls her legs up to her chest and rests her forehead on her knees. “You don’t have to be a part of this. I’m not even sure if I can keep it.”

The taller girl stops and looks at her confused. “What do you mean, you don’t know if you can even keep it?”

Amelia’s chest tightens at the innocent tone of her question. “It means that if my parents find out I got pregnant at 18 and out of wedlock, they will most likely make me get rid of it.”

Lucía lets out an exasperated gasp. “What the fuck Amelia? Are they sick in the head? They can’t make that decision for you. It’s your child. Mine too, apparently.”

“You think I don’t know that?!” The pale girl yells and sniffles quietly. “They’re horrible, but even if I kept it, they’d get it into my head that I wouldn’t be a good parent and try to take them away. It’s just how they are.” She rubs her arm over her eyes, taking in stuttering breaths. “And I can’t leave either. I don’t have anywhere to go, and I can’t leave my siblings to deal with our parents alone.”

The human sits down next to her and pulls her into a side hug. “I’m sorry Amelia. If there’s anything I can help with, please let me know. I don’t want you to go through this on your own.”

Amelia shivers and laughs through her tears a little. “Why? Why can’t you just hate me? After what I told you? We’re not even friends.”

Lucía lets go of her for a second to find her jacket and drapes it over the witch’s shoulders. “It was an accident and I will take responsibility for my actions, as much as you’ll allow me. Maybe we’re not friends, but we could start now. What do you say?” She asks, smiling down at the other girl.

She looks at her amazed and falls back into her side with a small smile, nodding. “I’d like that.”

Once Amelia has calmed down again and Lucía has helped her clean up a bit, they continue the walk to the Blight manor. Right before they exit the treeline, the witch stops them and gives the jacket still on her shoulders back and takes her school bag from her. “Thank you for walking me home, and for not taking the news as bad as I thought you would.”

The human brushes it off shyly. “It’s the least I could do. If you need anything, I’ll be there. Okay?”

“Okay. We can talk more after school tomorrow.” She says, but doesn’t move from her spot yet, like she’s waiting for something.

“Of course.” They both stand there for a few awkward moments, before Lucía gives her a quick hug and sprints away, yelling over her shoulder. “See you tomorrow!”

Amelia waves at her with a small smile and stays there until she’s out of sight. Only then does she turn towards the manor and start walking. She enters as quietly as she can and quickly makes her way to her room, out of her parents’ sight and earshot.

She lets out a sigh of relief as she flops down on her bed and hugs a pillow to her chest. Lucía knows, and she’s not mad. She even said she’d help her. Amelia feels an overwhelming happiness, replaying her words in her head.

Now she just had to make sure her parents don’t find out for as long as possible.

Notes:

If you made it this far, "Hi, how are you?". I would like to request ideas on how I should proceed with this story. I have some vague little snippets, but no solid plan on what happens next, so any suggestions are welcome.

Chapter 2: Month 1.2 Lucía

Summary:

Let's see how Lucía's doing, shall we.

Notes:

A short chapter this time.

We love non-binary Luz.
Also, Luz is basically the only one besides Camila who calls Lucía by her full name.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

So...

Amelia was pregnant.

And apparently Lucía was the one who had gotten her pregnant.

This was a disaster.

Fuck.

°~♡~°

Luca, Luz and King are watching Lucía sitting on the couch, seemingly deep in thought. She has been there ever since she got home. Just sitting right in the middle, her elbows leaning on her legs, jaw held between her thumb and pointer finger as she blankly stares ahead.

King tugs at Luz’s hand, looking up at them worried. “Is Lucía okay?” He asks them quietly.

Luz’s brow furrows as they look at Lucía and then back at the little demon. “I’m not sure.”

“Should we go check on her?”

“I don’t know if...” Luca’s words get suddenly cut off by the eldest Noceda.

“You know I can still hear you.” She snaps at the three kids hanging in the doorway.

Luz speaks up, being the least fearful of their older sister's wrath. “We’re sorry Luciana, we’re just worried about you. You’ve been sitting there for hours.”

Lucía looks confused, then looks at her scroll to confirm the kid's words and sighs, flopping down on the couch. “No, I’m sorry. I have a lot on my mind right now, but that doesn’t mean I get to snap at you.”

The youngest human goes to sit by their sister’s feet and puts a hand on her knee. “You wanna talk about it?”

She chuckles and pats their hand. “It’s an adult problem, kid. I don’t think you really wanna hear about it.”

“Should we get Eda then?” They ask, not giving up on her that easily. Being the loving sibling they are, they want to help, even if they’re the youngest.

Lucía hums, closing her eyes. “I’ll talk to her later, when I have all my thoughts in order. You kids don’t need to worry about me, okay?” She looks over her head to King and Luca, still standing in the doorway.

The boys nod at her, still not fully convinced, and Luz throws their arms around her in a tight hug. “Okay, but you have to promise to talk to someone.”

She hugs them back just as tightly and nods against their shoulder. “I promise.”

Satisfied, they release her from the hug, and soon all three leave Lucía to her own thoughts again.

°~♡~°

Later in the evening after dinner, Lucía and Eda send the younger three off to their rooms before she finally pulls the older witch aside to talk to her alone.

“I need a job.” She states bluntly.

Eda looks at her stunned, before bursting out in laughter. “Okay, who are you and what have you done to Lucía?”

The girl crosses her arms and grumbles. “It’s still me.”

“Right. What did you do now that you need a job? Finally get kicked out of Hexside? Broke some law?”

Lucía looks away, suddenly seeming very uncomfortable.

The owl lady’s eyes widen in shock as another possibility crosses her mind. “Are you pregnant?”

“No, no! Not me.” She quickly tells her and waves her hands in front of her.

“So, you got someone else pregnant.” Eda lets out a long sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. “I know I should probably reprimand you in some way, but you’re 19, meaning you’re responsible for your own actions. I’m sure your mother would have a lot more to say about this though.”

Shame crosses the girl’s face as she nods. “We’re supposed to talk more after school tomorrow, but I figured I could get an early start if we’re actually going to keep it. And having a little extra money for myself wouldn’t hurt.”

The witch nods, thinking for a moment. “Well, for now you can start by helping me at the stall on weekends.”

A hopeful smile lights up the human’s face. “That’s be great. Thanks, Eda.”

“Oh course kid. Just try not to get yourself into more of these situations.” She gives Lucía a teasing grin.

She blushes and shakes her head. “Yeah, no. Lesson learned. Won’t be happening again.”

°~♡~°

Lucía spends most of the next few hours after her talk with Eda and before school staring at the ceiling. She was still kind of having a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that her and Amelia’s fling ended with the witch getting pregnant.

Curse this magic world and its tendency to have a spell for everything.

Notes:

Just so you know, I have absolutely no update schedule and have no idea how long the next chapters will be(length and time wise). Yeah? Great.

Feel free to send any future idea for this.

Chapter 3: Month 1.3 Talk

Summary:

The next day comes and Lucía and Amelia talk again.

Notes:

Me projecting into Amelia? Noooo. Couldn't be true.

I didn't use any big time skips this time. Impressive. But it is a bit dialogue heavy.

Also thank you to my best friend who listens to my rambling about this fic and other shit and helps come up with things for this. Love you!

Chapter Text

In the end Lucía did manage to get an hour or two of sleep, before Luz and King barged into her room to drag her down for breakfast. The youngest residents of the house chatter away as they eat, trying to include Luca and Eda a few times. The oldest Noceda doesn’t say a word, simply tuning everything else out as she zones out.

Luca is first to notice this and lightly nudges her out of her thoughts, making her raise her head and look around confused. “Huh, what?”

“You were spacing out. Eat. We need to head out soon.” He tells her and goes back to his own food.

“Right.” She says, finishing about half of her waffles, before packing the rest away in her bag and getting her staff. Luz rides with her to school like any other day, and Luca used his own staff. Once at school, the three all go their separate ways to find their friend or to their first class. Lucía and Amelia continue to ignore each other for most of the school day like nothing happened, aside from the little note the witch gives her, telling her to wait for her outside the school after classes.

So now here she is sitting on the front steps waiting for the eldest Blight. She told her siblings to go home before her, saying she had some things to take care of and doesn’t know when she’ll be back. They tell her to be safe, making her laugh.

She only has to wait for a few minutes for Amelia to walk out of the building and gestures for her to follow. Lucía twirls her staff around as they walk, nearly hitting herself with it a few times, before she thinks to ask. “Don’t you take your staff to school?”

The witch glances back at her and shakes her head. “No. Mother wouldn’t allow it. She thinks it’s a lazy way to get places.”

“Bullshit! I’m really starting to hate your mother.” She grumbles, getting a small laugh from the other. She quickens her step a bit to walk beside her and pats the space in front of her as she gets on the staff. “Hop on. I’ll let you steer wherever we’re going.”

Amelia is a bit conflicted about flying someone else’s staff, even with them right there. “How do I know your palisman won’t just kick me off?”

Lucía gasps in mock offense. “She would never! She’s the sweetest, most gentle creature out there.” She gives her a gentle smile and hold out her hand. “But for real, she wouldn’t hurt you. I’ll even keep my arms around you, so there’s no chance you’ll fall.”

The witch finally gives in and takes her hand, letting her lift her up a bit to get on. Curse her shortness. “If I fall, I’m taking you with me.” She leans forward and hangs on tightly.

“That’s fair.” The human nods and holds on just below where Amelia’s hands are, effectively trapping her against her own body. God, was she always this tiny? She fit so well against her own much larger frame like a puzzle piece. It was adorable.

She barely felt them take off as the wind starts whipping pieces of green hair into her face. Pushing the hair to one side as she leans to the other, she tells her. “Next time I want you to put your hair up differently. I don’t enjoy getting smacked by your massive green mane.”

Amelia laughs at the complaint. “Next time?”

Lucía shrugs, which the witch didn’t see but definitely felt. “You never know.”

“Right.” She agrees, scanning the forest they were flying over for a specific spot. When she finds it, she slows down and leans the staff downward to land there. They stop in a clearing next to some cliffs and once both of them are on the ground, Amelia grabs Lucía’s arm and leads her to an opening in the cliff side. It’s a bit of a squeeze for the taller girl, but soon they’re both in some sort of glowing crystal cave. The witch directs them to one corner where a bunch of blankets are laid down and sits down waiting for the human to do the same.

Lucía unscrews her palisman from her perch and lets her roam around, on the condition she doesn’t go far as she sits. That turns out to be an unnecessary concern, as the little dragon lands on Amelia’s hair and makes herself comfortable. She laughs at the witch’s shocked face as her body goes completely ridged at the contact. “She already likes you.”

Amelia reaches up to pet the palisman and relaxes as she feels the smooth wooden scales under her fingers. “You never told me her name.” She states, trying to ease into the conversations they’re supposed to be having.

A light blush covers the human’s face. “Cuz it’s stupid.”

“But you’re gonna tell me anyway?” She questions.

The taller girl sighs and does indeed tell her. “It’s Marshmallow.” She looks away in embarrassment, trying to save at least some of her dignity. “Look, it wasn’t my idea. It’s cuz Eda and Luca keep calling me a marshmallow, and they thought it’d be a prefect name for my palisman, and then it just kinda stuck.” Yeah, that didn’t work out. She feels like the explanations just made it even worse.

The witch chuckles behind her hand. “I have no idea what a marshmallow is, but I think it’s adorable.”

Of course, she didn’t even know what it was, so, she shows an approximate size of one with her hand as she launches into an explanation. “Oh, they’re this soft and squishy white treat. It’s really sweet, and you’ll get sick if you eat too much, but it’s really good if you roast it over a fire first. Marshmallow actually looks a bit like a toaster marshmallow, so the name actually fits her very well in that regard too.”

Amelia listens to her attentively. Soft and sweet. She thinks are good words to describe how the other girl has been treating her recently. Soft and sweet. She draws her knees up to her chin, so the other doesn’t see her cradling her stomach with one hand.

As much as she hates it, Amelia breaks Lucía’s exited ramblings with a question that has been plaguing her for a while now. “What are we going to do about this baby?”

The human stops abruptly and looks over to where the smaller girl is sitting. “What do you want to do about it?”

“I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking you.”

“Well, let’s start with. Do you want to keep it?”

“Do you?”

The human sighs as she runs her fingers through her hair. “Amelia, you’re the one who’s actually carrying the baby. I don’t want you to do something you’re not comfortable with.”

“Yes, but yesterday said that it was your baby too. So tell me. Would you keep it?”

A silence falls over them, before Lucía answers. “Yes.”

“Then I’m keeping it.”

“Wait, really?”

“Contrary to what most would think, I do actually want my own family. So, if I’ve been given this… saying opportunity sound wrong, but whatever, opportunity, why shouldn’t I take it? It’s not like anyone would ever even want to be in a relationship with me, let alone have a kid. So, why not just keep the one I’ve been given.” As she speaks, tears start rolling down her cheeks as she curls even more into herself, away from Lucía’s eyes. “I'll finally have someone to love, and I am going to be the best damn mother I can be. No matter what anyone thinks of me.” Her words come out shaky as she body lightly trembles with barely restrained sobs.

Same as yesterday, Lucía gets her jacket and drapes it around the witch’s shoulders like a security blanket and wraps her arms around her tightly. “If that’s your final decision, then I will be there every step of the way. You don’t have to do this on your own.”

Amelia twists herself around in the embrace and hugs Lucía’s waist, burying her face in her chest.

The taller girl rubs circles on the other’s lower back. “And if you ever need a place to stay, the door of the Owl House is always open.”

The witch nods as she relaxes into the touch and lets herself cry freely. Titan, this was the second time she had broken down in front of her in the last week. She would’ve felt embarrassed if it wasn’t for how safe Lucía made her feel at the moment. She liked it, like, really really liked it. Not having to be the stronger person for once, and having someone who’s there to comfort you and reassure that things will be okay.

Once Amelia has calmed down enough, she closes her eyes and just lays against Lucía chest.

“Did you fall asleep on me?” The human asks a few moments later, as Amelia’s breathing slowly levels out.

“No.” She tells her and after a brief pause adds. “Thank you.”

“For what?” Lucía asks, slightly confused.

“Just, everything. For being so great about this whole situation.”

“Well, I did kinda get you into this situation, so it’s expected I do something about it.”

“It was a mutual decision.”

“That I can agree with, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re now pregnant.”

Amelia hums in agreement at that, and they both go silent again for a minute before the witch’s stomach growls. She tries to hide her face as she feels her cheeks go red and Lucía chuckles, reaching for her bag.

She pulls out the waffles she packed with her this morning and presents them to her with a small smile. “Want a waffle?”

The witch inspects the strange things before picking one up and sniffing it. She takes a small bite and her eyes go wide as she takes another bite and then another and another. Before long she reaches for the next one and that disappears just as fast.

Lucía chuckles at that. “They’re better warm, but I can see that that doesn’t really matter to you.”

“I’m just hungry.” Amelia grumbles.

When she finishes the last waffle, the taller girl extracts herself from the embrace they’re still in and stands to stretch her sore limbs. “Want me to take you home now?” She asks.

A little reluctantly, the shorter nods and lets herself be pulled up from the floor. “Yeah, okay.”

They exit the cave and get on the staff like they were before, with Amelia steering. She brings them down at the edge of the forest and gets off to walk the rest of the way. She gives a little wave as she turns towards the manor. “See you tomorrow.”

“See ya, Blight.” Lucía gives a wave back and takes off in the opposite direction.

Only once she’s back in her room does Amelia realize that she still has the green jacket wrapped around her. She pulls it closer, inhaling the earthy smell she’s come to associate with the oldest human. Whatever, she can give it back tomorrow at school.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed. I cried writing Amelia's little rant.

Now, what do I do next? Do I do a time skip to another big event or what? Cuz I seriously have no idea yet.

Art to be added later.

Chapter 4: Month 1.4 Hiding

Summary:

Amelia's siblings are lifesavers, and the witch finally has her first checkup.

Notes:

I love explaining things as "just fucking magic". Just ignore any weird terminology I might use. I've read too many fanfics.

Also, credit where credit is due. Leah25g you are an absolute angel. Thank you for all the ideas you've been giving me!

There's been a slight change in the general plot that I won't reveal yet, but maybe you can find a few hints that I dropped. You can thank my best friend for convincing me to make that little change.

Chapter Text

The following days, Amelia takes measures to make sure that neither of her parents, especially Odalia, find out about her pregnancy. She has some help from her sibling in the form of Amber brining her some nausea medication, the twins sneaking her snacks whenever they could and Amity (the hypocrite) making sure she takes breaks. She was lucky enough to have all of her siblings on her side and even though she wished her parents would pay more attention to all of them, right now it was honestly a blessing.

Lucía mostly left her alone at school per her own request, but would still check on her before or after classes every day. She even told Amelia she would start working on the weekends for a little extra money for when the baby would come, which made her feel strangely guilty. Lucía was already doing so much for her, and she didn’t even ask her to.

The Blight family was sitting at the dinner table, sans the oldest daughter. A fact that hadn’t gone unnoticed by Odalia. She waits until about halfway through dinner before she asks about it. “Kids, where is your dearest older sister? It seems she hasn’t made it home yet.”

Amity is the first to speak up, quickly making something up on the spot. “She said she had to tutor someone from her abominations class and would most likely not make it to dinner.”

Their mother’s brows furrow slightly, clearly not fully believing the youngest’s words. “Is that so? Can anyone else back up your claim, Mittens?”

“Yes, mother. Amelia told me the same thing this morning.” Amber assures her.

Odalia hums, but lets it go for now. The kids all let out a mental sigh of relief.

Some hours later, Lucía is flying Amelia back to the Blight Manor.

The witch leans her head back to look at the other girl. “Hey Lucía?”

“Yeah?” The human asks, meeting her gaze.

Amelia blushes slightly, and she turns her eyes back to the horizon. “I have my first checkup in a few days. I thought you should know if you, maybe, wanna come along.” She makes a slight pause before continuing. “It probably won’t be that interesting, since I’ll only be at 7 weeks by then, and it might go over an hour. But I thought I’d ask anyway.”

“Sure. If you want me to.”

“It would be nice.”

Lucía nods. “I got a question. How long are witch pregnancies?”

“Usually about 10 months. Why?”

“Oh, so just a bit longer than human ones.”

“How long are human pregnancies, then?” Amelia asks.

“9 to 9 and a half months. Less if it’s multiple.” She freezes and quickly adds. “Not that I think you’re going to have multiple.”

“Titan, I would hope not.”

Lucía flies Amelia up to her window, so she wouldn’t have to go through the whole manor and bump into someone. The witch opens her window with a quick spell, and Lucía helps her inside to make sure she didn’t fall. “Tell me when and where the appointment is, and I’ll be there.”

“It’s right after school, so we can head there right after.”

The human smiles and gives her a thumbs up, before waving. “Perfect. Night, Blight.”

“Good night, Noceda.” Amelia says and closes her window as she watches her fly away.

°~♡~°

So here the girls are, a few days later at Amelia’s first checkup. Lucía taps her fingers against her leg as they sit in the waiting room, watching other couples and excepting mothers walk by every few minutes. She thinks of what will happen after this, with Amelia, with the baby, their relationship.

They finally get called in by the midwife and Amelia is instructed to sit on the bed, while Lucía sits in a chair next to her.

“Hello, I’m Dr. Rollder. I’ll be your prenatal doctor and midwife for the duration of your pregnancy until the birth.”

“Amelia.” She shakes her hand.

“Nice to meet you. How are you feeling?”

“I’m good.”

“And who is this with you?”

“This is Lucía, she’s the sire. She’s also human.”

Lucía gives a small wave to the midwife, whose eyes go wide. “A human? Well, that’s a first. Anyway, since we have both parents here, I am going to ask you about a million questions and do a few test before we do an ultrasound. That sound good?”

Both girls nod and start answering whatever questions Dr. Rollder asks. Lucía has a sneaking suspicion that not all of Amelia’s answers are fully truthful, especially ones about her home life, but doesn’t mention it for now. They explain that they’re not together, but Lucía will be there to help Amelia and give her a place to stay if needed. She then weights and measures the witches height and blood pressure, before getting a blood and urine sample from her, the latter of which leaves the girl red-faced for a while.

After all that, it’s finally time for the ultrasound, which Lucía finds out would be performed with magic, because of course it would. The midwife has Amelia lie down on the bed and casts a spell that projects an image into a crystal ball. The projection is black and white and grainy like the ones in the Human Realm. She moves her hand above the girl’s stomach until the image shows a black space with a little bean shapes blob at the bottom of it. A fast little heartbeat is heard to accompany the sight. “And here is your little baby.” She says, pointing to it.

Amelia smiles softly and reaches out towards the image in awe. Lucía grabs her other hand as tears well in her eyes, and she lets out a light chuckle. “Oh, wow. I’ve had such a hard time wrapping my head around all of this, but there they are.” She wipes away a tear with her sleeve.

The witch looks at her and nods, the same smile still on her face. She listens to the tiny thumping sounds and comments. “It sounds like a witch’s heartbeat, doesn’t it?”

Lucía shakes her head a bit, smiling, but still not taking her eyes off the crystal ball. “As long as they’re healthy, I don’t care what they are, human or witch.”

Amelia asks to take a short video of the baby on her scroll and sends it to the human immediately after.

A few minutes later, the girls walk out with a handful of pamphlets, both still smiling widely. Lucía, again, drops the small witch off by the tree line near the manor and waves her goodbye to head back home herself.

°~♡~°

Later that night, Amelia prepares for bed after an uncomfortably long dinner with her family. She can’t fault her sibling for the tense atmosphere, they were trying their best under their mother’s judgmental gaze. She spends a few minutes in front of the mirror, gently poking her firm and slightly bulging stomach. It’s still a bit weird to her and some symptoms of her pregnancy can get irritating, but now that she’s finally seen and heard her baby’s heartbeat, she knows it will all be worth it in the end.

Over in the Owl House, the taller girl spends a while just rewatching the video Amelia shared with her. She’s still amazed that that’s really their baby that the witch is carrying. She wasn’t lying when she said she doesn’t care if they’re a witch or human, she just wants them to be happy and healthy, and she can’t wait to meet them. Just like Amelia, she swears to be the best mother she can for her baby.

Notes:

Since I don't want to clog up the story with too much filler, I think the next chapter will be a bit of a time skip. A few weeks in story time at most. I've already started it, so this time I don't think I need suggestions. (You can keep leaving them, tho. There's always opportunities to sneak them in.)

Thank you to everyone who has, been reading my story so far!

Chapter 5: Month 2 Fallout

Summary:

Odalia finds out, and it goes about as well as you would expect.

Notes:

Camila makes a small guest appearance.

Because someone asked. They have a new fully working portal and the Noceda kids spend most of their time on the Isles. Camila knows about what happened/why her kids were all gone and she, Luz and Luca visit each other at least twice a month.

Lucía never had any love for the Human Realm, so she rarely goes there, or talks to her mom in general. They have a strained relationship because of some past shit that happened.

Oh, and thank you for the 100+ kudos and 2000+ hits.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Amelia doesn’t know what she was expecting to happen when Odalia did eventually find out, but she had never actually raised her hand at any of them before. So when she sees a flash of white and tumbles to the floor from the sudden force again her cheek, she is left speechless. She would’ve heard the crack from her forearm from the fall if it wasn’t for the ringing in her ears, which are presses back to at least block out some of her mother’s yelling.

The small witch sits on the floor in shock, holding a hand to her creek as her siblings rush in the room. The three middle children stand between Amelia and their mother, blocking their view of each other as Amity kneels down trying to talk to her, but she can’t hear anything that is said. She stands up with the youngest’s help and before anyone can stop her she has turned towards the door and is speeding away from the manor grounds. She thinks she heard someone call after her, but she was already too far away to care.

Amelia feels low-hanging branches slapping again her skin and her clothes getting snagged by bushes as she runs. Her foot gets caught on a root, sending her to the forest floor, but she’s quick to get back up and continue running.

°~♡~°

She now stands in front of the Owl House as a worried Hooty opens the door for her. As she walks in, she sees 3 of the 4 Nocedas sitting in the living room, with the oldest child nowhere in sight. Luca is first to notice her and get up to usher her inside as he yells into the house. “Lucía! Come here, right now!”

The older human comes bounding down the stairs with an irritated look on her face, but it disappears into worry when she sees Amelia. She takes one look at her before rushing over and gently lifting her chin to look at the angry red mark on her cheek. “Who did this?” She asks in a low growl.

“Odalia. We had a fight and I couldn’t take the yelling. I just ran.” The witch’s voice comes out small and quiet.

Lucía swears she’s truly going to kill the elder Blight one day, but first she needs to make sure she and their baby are alright. “Luca, bring my staff. I’m taking her to the healer’s.” She commands the boy, who nods and runs up the stairs. Camila watches this all go down from the couch, along with Luz, who is ready to get up and help if needed.

He quickly comes back with the staff in hand and hands it over. But Amelia steps away, holding a hand to her chest. “I’m fine, Lucía. We d-don’t need to go anywhere.”

Lucía isn’t backing down, though. She opens the door and firmly, but gently, guides her outside by her shoulders. “Like shit you are. I can see the exact outline of the bitch’s hand on your cheek, and you haven’t moved your left arm since you got here. And that’s just the external injuries.”

Camila stands up to approach the two, but she hears something that makes her stop in her tracks.

“The baby’s fine.” The witch blurts out, trying to find a way out. “She didn’t get to them, I swear.”

“Amelia!” The human cuts her off. “Get on the damn staff. I will believe it when I hear it from a professional.” The irritation in Lucía’s voice makes Amelia visibly flinch away, but she makes her way over regardless, stiffly sitting in front of her and holding on with one hand.

Her posture doesn’t go unnoticed by Lucía as she leans over her to grab a hold of the staff and takes off towards the town. “I’m sorry. I’m just worried about you and really pissed at your mother for hurting you.” She tells the other girl, putting a hand gently over hers.

The witch nods and lets herself relax a little against her chest for the rest of the flight. When they land, her feet don’t even have time to touch the ground, before she’s scooped up in Lucía’s arms, the staff still clutched in her hand. “What the hell? Put me down!” She wants to push her away or hit her, but with one arm injured and the other occupied, she can’t really do either.

“Trust me, this will go much faster this way.” The human tells her and pretty much kicks open the double doors. This gets the attention of the witch at the front desk and as soon as they hear the Blight name, they direct them to a vacant room and say they’ll immediately send a healer to come check on them.

Lucía sits the witch down on the bed and leans her staff against a wall, unscrewing the palisman and letting her rest on Amelia’s wild mane of hair. “Hi Marshmallow.” She greets the little dragon as she nestles deeper into her hair.

A tall demon woman in healer’s clothes walks into the room, greeting the two and introducing herself, before turning to Amelia. “So, tell me what happened, dear.”

The smaller witch fidgets with the hem of her dress, trying to find a way to avoid the actual question. “Besides the slap mark, I think my arm’s broken. It hurts really bad any time I try to move it.”

“I see. But how did this happen?” She asks again calmly.

“Her mother did this, and I bet it’s because she found out Amelia’s pregnant.” Lucía answers for her, figuring she won’t tell the truth on her own.

The healer nods, noting everything down on a clipboard. “Please lie down, Miss Blight. And could you remove the palisman too?” At that, Lucía takes the dragon out of her hair and quickly drops her into her beanie, before helping Amelia lie down, so she doesn’t have to try using her bad arm.

“You really don’t have to.” The small witch whispers to the human, her brows furrowed.

She nods and whispers back. “I know. Just let me do this, please.” She then steps away.

The demon casts an examination spell on Amelia and writes something more down. “How far along are you?”

“Almost three months.”

She gives a reassuring smile to the girls. “Well, both your babies looks perfectly fine. You on the other hand have a sprained ankle, a small fracture in your left arm and skinned knees. The smaller scratches and the slap mark will heal on their own in time.” She says, summoning supplies to starts treating Amelia’s injuries, and sets them on the edge of the bed. “Would you mind stepping out for a moment, Miss?” She asks Lucía.

“Oh no. She’s not going anywhere. She got me into this and brought me here. So she can stand seeing a little skin.” Amelia interjects before the human has a chance to move.

Seeing the slight confusion on the healers face, Lucía quickly explains. “I’m the other parent of her babies, hence the ‘get her into this’. And I could help, my mamí’s a type of healer back in the human realm.”

“Right, then. If Miss Blight is comfortable with this arrangement?” Getting a nod from the younger, the demon casts another spell, switching Amelia’s clothes for a hospital gown.

“Also, did you say babies? As in multiple?” It only now registers to the witch what both the other people in the room has said.

“Yes, did you not know that before?”

“No. I had no idea.”

Lucía nods silently and takes the things to clean her scratches and sticks healing patches over her knees to heal them faster, while the healer checks her ankle and sets her arm. They get everything done with minimal complaint from the injured witch, besides her trying to crush the human’s hand while her arm was being worked on, after which the healer leaves her to rest.

“Lucía there's multiple.” Amelia whispers, still in shock.

The taller girl simply nods, tucking her in as comfortably as one can be in a hospital bed. Marshmallow has also found her way back into her hair and thoroughly tangled herself in there. The Noceda gives the witch a once-over, frowning. “I should go back home, it’s getting late. Come on, Mallow, get out of there.”

The palisman only huffs, making no move to get up.

“Don’t go.” Amelia’s voice along with her hand grabbing her wrist slightly startle her. “What if they come for me and try to take me back? Please don’t go.” She begs, pulling the hand closer to her chest.

“Amelia…”

“Or just lie down with me for a bit. I can’t sleep yet.” She grips her hand a little tighter.

Lucía sighs and gently pulls her hand back. Amelia takes this as rejection and curls into herself, until a jacket gets draped over her and the mattress dips as the human lies next to her on the tiny bed. She looks at the human gently smiling at her and smiles back.

The taller holds her arm out as an invitation, and the witch doesn’t waste any time cuddling into her side as she pulls her closer. Amelia loves how warm Lucía is compared to the slightly chilly room. As she quickly falls asleep, she wishes she could always feel like this: safe, warm and loved.

The Noceda though, is left alone with her thoughts. She had finally fully accepted the fact that she and Amelia were gonna be parents, and now she finds out there’s more than one. And she’s pretty sure her mother heard them talking earlier, so now she’s going to have to explain everything to her family too.

This situation just keeps throwing one twist after another at the poor girls.

Notes:

And here's the reveal of what I was talking about in the previous chapter. I love irony. Did anyone guess I was gonna give them twins?

Next. Amelia settling in at the Owl House, maybe?
Anyone got anything to add?

Chapter 6: Month 2.2 Mothers

Summary:

Lucía takes Amelia to the Owl House and has an unexpected confrontation with Camila.

Notes:

So... um... I got called horny for a poetic description of Lucía's gay thoughts, so I made it hornier.
This is my story, and I am allowed at least a bit horny. It's nothing bad, I promise, and it's like 2 paragraphs.

This chapter we also got more ✨parental conflict✨. That part was written in one go, so if it doesn't make sense, that's on me for not knowing how altercations work.

I also changed the title of the last chapter cuz "Aftermath" fits better somewhere else.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Lucía wakes up the next morning to find her scroll had been blown up with texts from both her and Amelia’s siblings, and even a few from Camila. She groans, deciding to ignore most of them, only shooting Luz a quick text.

‘tell every1 Ame’s fine n should come home w me l8r today.’

She puts the scroll away again and looks at the green-haired witch, who has tangled their legs together in her sleep. Her arm is draped over Lucía’s waist and her forehead rests against her chest.

It reminds the tan girl of that morning nearly three months ago, when she had woken up in a similar position. Amelia clinging to her with nothing separating their naked bodies. The sunlight streaming in from the windows creating a halo behind her, making her look almost ethereal, like a goddess. Despite her long green hair being a mess and pale bare shoulders covered in hickeys. The witch’s skin felt like velvet against hers with every gentle movement.

She looked peaceful and content in that moment, and Lucía doesn’t think she’s ever seen a more beautiful sight in her life.

Amelia sighs and cuddles closer into Lucía’s chest, snapping her out of her thoughts. She lets out a small purr before her eyes flutter open. And, oh Titan, she’d forgotten witches could make that sound. Warm amber eyes meet red and the moment the witch connects the color to the person, she panics and tries to quickly disentangle herself.

The human grabs her shoulder to keep her from accidentally rolling herself off the small bed. “Whoa, whoa, chill, Amelia. You’re gonna hurt yourself like that.” She tries to calm her down.

The short girl takes a moment to close her eyes and just breathe. “You’re still here.”

“You… asked me… to stay.” Lucía says, feeling a bit awkward as she sits up. Should she not have? Was Amelia expecting her to be gone when she woke up?

“So, yesterday actually happened.”

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure.”

Amelia holds a hand to her stomach and softly exclaims. “Oh dear Titan. There’s really two of them?”

The human breathes in through her teeth. “The healer said both, so I’m assuming yes.”

“How are you so calm about this?” She asks, surprised at the lack of strong outward reaction from the Noceda, who is usually all about big and loud.

Lucía chuckles. “Trust me, I’m not. I will likely have a breakdown later when everything has finally caught up with me.” She tells her, only half joking.

°~♡~°

As promised, right after Amelia gets discharged, Lucía flies them to the Owl House. She carries the witch through the door, only to be met with her mother, siblings and half of Amelia’s too to boot. The human quickly grows irritated when they crowd them and start talking over each other, before they’ve properly even entered the room.

She snaps at them, holding the girl closer protectively. “Shut up! All of you!” Her red eyes flash dangerously, daring anyone to get closer. “I get that you’re worried, but you’re going to overwhelm her like this. One. At. A. Fucking. Time. Okay?”

Everyone nods and Lucía turns to the witch still in her arms, her face immediately softening. “You wanna talk to them now, or do I take you up to rest and tell them to fuck off.” She whispers loud enough for only her to hear.

Amelia chuckles and pats her shoulder. “Let’s just deal with them now. I’ll have plenty of time to sleep later.”

The human nods, pushing past everyone to sit the short girl on the couch. She sits right next to her, feeling a sudden need to protect her.

Amity is the first to recover from Lucía’s sudden hostility towards them and go over to hug her oldest sister. “Are you okay? We were so worried when you ran out yesterday.”

She hugs her back. “I’m gonna be fine. I came here first thing and Lucía took me to the healer’s to get checked out.”

The young girl’s eyes flick to her stomach and then back up. “Is the...? Uh, do they know?” She nods towards Lucía’s family.

“Yea and no. Eda only knows that it happened, but not who.” Lucía tells the littlest Blight.

Camila, growing tired of the secrecy, finally speaks up. “Luciana, what is going on?”

Lucía sighs, scratching the back of her head, and turns to Amelia. “I’m sorry, I thought she’d already left. Are you... okay with telling them?” She asks uncertainly.

The witch nods, even though she herself is feeling unsure after how her own mother had reacted. “We have to at some point. Let’s just get the screaming match over with.”

°~♡~°

And into a screaming match it did turn. Between Lucía and Camila, that is.

At one point, Luz had to take Amity up to their room, so she wouldn’t get sensory overload or have a panic attack over the yelling.

They had moved to the kitchen, but Amelia, Amber and Luca still heard everything from the living room.

“You’re blowing this way out of proportion!” Lucía tells her.

Camila gestures towards herself, then back at her oldest. “Me?! You’re not taking this seriously enough! You got drunk at a party and because of some magic spell got someone pregnant!”

“That someone is sitting in the other room and can tell you that I have done whatever I can to provide for her and our children!”

“You’re both still in school! Do you even know what it means to take care of a child, let alone two?!”

“Of course I do! I’ve been taking care of Luca and Luz ever since he left, because you were working all the time to provide for us!”

“You’re saying it’s my fault for wanting my children to have a roof over their heads?!”

“NO! You’re not even listening! You never listen!”

“You never talk to me!”

“Because I don’t want you to worry more than you already do about Luz! I can take care of myself. I’ve been living in the Boiling Isles for more than a year now. Not that you would know.”

“Luciana…”

The girl grabs her hair with both hands, shaking her head. “I’m not a kid anymore, you can’t protect me from the world. I know what I did, and I am taking responsibility for my actions. And I am not going to leave like he did. They’re my family too now.”

The silence rings between them.

“I’m sorry.”

Lucía raises her head to give her mother a confused look. “What?”

“I sometimes forget that you’re not my little girl anymore, but I am never going to stop worrying about you. I’m sorry I didn’t see how much you’ve grown while I wasn’t around.” Camila approaches her daughter, reaching a hand towards her cheek.

The girl slightly flinches away from her, before leaning against it. “Lo siento mamí.”

“Don’t apologize mija.” She pulls her daughter into a hug, her head laying on her shoulder.

They stay like that in the kitchen for a few minutes before pulling apart. Camila smiles and nods her head towards the living room. “Would you like to introduce me to your special girl?”

Ignoring the implication of the remark, Lucía just smiles back. “Yeah. I’d like that.”

Notes:

Sorry to just stop it at this point, but wanna put Amelia's side in the next chapter to kinda separate the narrative a bit and not clutter the chapters.

Always taking more suggestions tho.

Chapter 7: Month 2.3 Aftermath

Summary:

Amelia gets some bad news and awkward introductions are made.

Notes:

I legit wrote most of this just now. Fr it was 430 words and now it's 1560. I have no idea what I'm doing. I got possessed or some shit. It's 3 am.

I'll proofread this later, and fix any mistakes.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

When Amelia wakes up that morning, all she feels is warm, before panic settles in when her eyes meet the blood-red of Lucía’s. The human calms her down as she slowly remembers what happened yesterday and the fact that she’s carrying twins instead of one little hybrid. It makes her head spin.

After getting the all clear and getting discharged, Lucía takes her to the Owl House, where Amber and Amity are already waiting for her. She agrees to let her tell her mother about the babies, which quickly turns into an argument.

°~♡~°

While Lucía and Camila disappear into the kitchen, Amber realizes she and Amelia have to have their own talk.

Amber hates being the bearer of bad news, but seeing as she’s the only one in the room who knows about the situation, it’s up to her to inform Amelia. “Amelia, we really need to talk.”

Her quiet voice gets her older sister’s attention even through the yelling.

“You can’t come home. Mom disowned you and said she’s not letting you come back unless you…” She trails off, fiddling with her hands.

“Get rid of them? Right, of course she would say that.” The older witch can’t say she’s surprised. She was right all along, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less.

The hazel eyed witch nods. “We managed to save most of your things, books, clothes, Solana. We left an overnight bag and some other stuff in Lucía’s room for you. And the twins are arranging to bring everything else over later.”

Amelia’s brow furrows, and she wraps both arms around her stomach.

“You don’t need to worry about where you’ll stay, at least. We already talked to Ms. Clawthorne, and she’s fine with letting you stay as long as you need.”

The pregnant witch nods, slowly curling more into herself. Amber notices her quickly declining mood and pulls her into a hug. “Hey, hey, don’t worry. Everything will be alright.” She tells her as Amelia begins to tremble. Luca, who had silently been sitting with them, rubs circles on her back.

A moment later, Lucía and Camila enter the room. At seeing the oldest Blight crying, the younger Noceda woman pushes the coffee table away from the couch and kneels in front of Amelia. She takes one of the witch’s hands between hers and looks towards Amber for answers.

The smaller witch shakes her head, frowning. “Mother disowned her, and she can’t go back home.”

Lucía scowls. That bitch hurts her own daughter and then had the nerve to kick her out. Who does she think she is? She quickly shakes the thought off and focuses back on the situation at hand. “Can you guys give us a moment? Go check up on Amity and Luz or something.” She addresses the other 3 people in the room. They all shuffle out of the room, Amber lingering in the doorway, before joining everyone upstairs.

“Hey Amelia, can you look at me?” She asks quietly.

The wild haired girl raises her head enough for Lucía to see her amber eyes shimmering with tears, as a quiet sob escapes her.

The human slowly reaches her hand towards her cheek. “There you are, cariño. You remember what I told you in the crystal cave?” She asks, wiping a tear from her cheek.

Amelia shrugs, urging the taller girl to continue. “I said that our door was always open for you, and I mean it. I didn’t like the idea of you going back to that bitch anyway.” She smiles, trying to lighten the mood.

The witch sniffles and nods.

“Good. Wanna get cleaned up, get some water before we call everyone back?”

“Yea.” Amelia whispers and Lucía picks her off the couch to bring her to the kitchen.

The short girl huffs, knowing she’ll have to get used to this if she’s gonna stay here. “I can walk by myself, you know. A twisted ankle is nothing.” She grumbles nonetheless.

The human gives her a non-committal hum and sits her on the counter. She gives the witch a glass of water, before wetting the kitchen towel to gently clean the tears stains off her cheeks. Amelia growls a bit at the strange sensation. This is all so new to her, as she’s not used to anyone taking care of her in this manner. It’s usually her caring for her siblings and never the other way around.

Lucía lets the girl finish her glass of water in silence before taking her back to the living room and going upstairs to tell the others it was fine to come back down. She also apologizes to Amity about the yelling, since she knows the kid is sensitive to loud sounds.

Introducing Camila and Amelia is a bit of an awkward affair after all that happened today and the witch slipping into the professional persona her mother had drilled into her. It’s hard to just undo years of learned behavior, but having her sisters and Lucía right there help her eventually relax enough that she actually smiles at the Noceda matriarch.

The younger 4 eventually leave to go hang out in Luz and Luca’s rooms respectively. Camila asks Amelia and Lucía what their plans for the future are and a bunch of embarrassing questions, some of which Lucía answers herself or just simply shoots down. Her mother doesn’t need to know everything.

°~♡~°

True to Amber’s word, Emira and Edric come through a few hours later, bringing Amelia’s things with them. Amber and Amity go home with them after, as they’ve already been at the Owl House for nearly half the day and their parents will definitely notice if they aren’t back before dinner.

Camila stays over for a while longer, and she and Lucía make dinner together for the first time in a long while. Amelia spends a while alone in the oldest Noceda sibling’s room, going over what her siblings had managed to save. Her liger palisman Solana follows her around the whole time, rubbing herself against the witch to comfort her.

They had brought over a chest of Amelia’s clothes, her school books and some books Amity knew she was more attached to. The little shits had somehow found her locked treasure box too, and left it in a bag between her makeup bag, accessories, her (secret) childhood plushie and other necessities.

When Lucía comes to get her for dinner, she insists on limping down the stairs herself, with the human hovering over her like a mother hen.

Dinner with the Nocadas and Clawthornes is a chaotic affair, but instead of overwhelmed, Amelia felt comfortable. There was no tense atmosphere or her mother’s judgmental gaze bearing down on her. It’s warm and inviting, almost like she’s always been a part of this family. Afterward, Camila and Eda do the dishes while the kids go up to their rooms.

The girls now sat on Lucía’s bed in awkward silence. The human was first to speak, asking Amelia how she was feeling.

“My head’s still a mess.” The witch sighs and shakes her head. “I… Thank you for letting me stay. You didn’t have to. I’ve already caused you enough trouble.” She adds the last part more quietly.

Lucía pulls the other girl into a side hug. “Hey, no negative self-talk. It’s not any trouble, giving you a safe place to stay. Okay?”

Amelia nods. “Okay.”

The green-haired girl starts feeling drowsy, pressed against the warm body next to her. “Where am I sleeping?” She asks.

“Well, since I’m the only one in this house with a bed, you can have it. I can sleep on the couch downstairs if mamí’s not staying or go find my old sleeping mat.” The human tells her as if it’s the easiest decision she’s ever made.

It confuses the witch how easily Lucía would give up her own comfort for her sake. A lot of things about the human confuse her. “What? No, I can’t just take your bed. I can sleep on the mat.” She protests.

The taller girl gives her a look that tells her she’s not gonna change her mind about this. “Amelia, I am not arguing on this with you. You’re pregnant and injured, you get the bed.”

“But I’ll feel shitty if you have to sleep somewhere else.” She frowns and her ears lower.

Lucía runs a hand through her hair and asks. “We can just share then. If you’re okay with that.”

A light blush covers Amelia’s face, but she nods. “Yea. That works.”

The human gets up from the bed and goes to find her pajamas. “Okay, cool. I, am going to get changed and ready for bed. I advise you to do the same.”

She exits the room and when she comes back a few minutes later, Amelia is also already in her sleep clothes. She directs her to the bathroom to go brush her teeth, and soon they’re both laying in Lucía’s slightly too small bed. That issue is luckily remedied by the taller girl pulling Amelia’s small frame against her.

Lucía is first to fall asleep, and the witch chuckles, realizing she got her wish of getting to fall asleep next to the human for at least a little while more. She feels a light purr rising from her chest as she cuddles closer into the girl’s warm embrace.

Chapter 8: Month 2.4 Weekend

Summary:

It's the end of Amelia's first weekend at the Owl House.

Notes:

Vomiting warning in the beginning of this. (Tho it's a pregnancy fic and I already tagged it, but I'm a nice boy.)

This was originally gonna be longer, but I decided to separate this and the next day, cuz it was long enough on its own.

My Gods, I gotta stop getting writing inspiration at 10 and then write until 2 am. I have school.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Amelia is woken the next morning by the overwhelming urge to expel her guts. She scrambles over the other girl, waking her in the process, and barely makes it to the bathroom in time. She tries to remember if she saw her nausea medicine with the things her siblings brought while kneeling on the cold floor and throwing up last night’s dinner. Lucía groggily followed after her at some point and held her hair back, while rubbing her back with the other hand.

The witch spit into the toilet bowl, trying to get rid of the taste of bile in her mouth. “This fucking sucks.” She sighs, slumping against the taller girl.

“I bet. You got any anti-nausea medication with you?”

“I don’t know. I don’t remember finding any yesterday.” Amelia groans.

The human hums and slowly stands up, pulling the witch along and flushing the toilet. “Come on, brush your teeth, and I’ll go make some breakfast. Mamí gave me a whole list of foods that can ease morning sickness. I just hope they work the same on witches.” She leaves the girl alone in the bathroom to go see what they have in the kitchen that qualifies as edible breakfast.

Amelia comes down a few minutes later to see Lucía already setting out dishes of food. She takes a seat at the table and has a plate with two pieces of toast, a bowl of yogurt with cubes of colorful fruit (she assumed) and a cup with some kind of tea pushed in front of her.

“You, my dear witch, are in luck because we have plenty of human food right now. Don’t worry about its edibility to witches, your sisters have already tried most of these.”

The smaller girl raises an eyebrow. “You experimented on Amber and Amity?”

Lucía holds her hands up and explains. “I did no such things. It was Luz and Luca making them try different human things. Half of which I had to help them with, cuz I don’t fully trust the boys alone in the kitchen.” She takes a seat across from Amelia, her breakfast the same as the witch’s, only the tea was replaced with coffee.

They eat in relative silence, since they’re the first two up. Everyone else sleeping in as it was a Sunday morning. The human keeps glancing at Amelia to make sure she didn’t have a bad reaction to any of her food, which luckily didn’t seem to be the case. She finishes off her coffee and goes to wash the dishes. “I gotta go to work today. I hope you don’t mind being left here with the crazies. You’re always welcome to lock yourself in my room if they get too much.” Lucía jokes and looks behind her to see the other nodding, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

“Yesterday was a bit hectic, so Eda’s forgiving me for missing one day, but she’s not giving me the whole weekend off. I should be back before dinner. If you need anything, just ask anyone in the house.” She goes over to take the witch’s empty dishes and washes those too. “Maybe not Hooty though. He has good intentions, but not the best execution.”

Amelia chuckles. “I’ll be fine. Thank you for breakfast.”

The human smiles brightly, before running up the stairs to get dressed and coming back after a few minutes. “So, I left the list of foods on my desk if you’re still feeling sick around lunch, careful with your arm, ice your foot if it starts to hurt and text me if anything bad happens or, you know, get the others.”

“I’ll be fine. Go already.” She finds the fact the Noceda worries about her so much endearing, but it can be a bit overwhelming at times. Titan knows she hasn’t had this much positive attention directed towards her, unless it was in school.

“Yeah, okay.” Lucía nods and says, but doesn’t yet move anywhere.

Amelia sighs lightly and smiles. She was beginning to see that the taller girl was very physically affectionate with everyone important to her, and has yet to part from her before getting at least one hug. “You want a hug?” She holds her arms open as an invitation, her face now a deep scarlet, and the tan girl immediately takes it.

Lucía nearly topples the short witch in her excitement. She squeezes her tight, then holds her by the shoulders a bit away from her, a big grin on her face. “Okay. Have a nice day, bye.” She lets go and turns towards the door.

“You too.” Amelia calls back, before the door closes behind her.

After Lucía leaves, Amelia goes back to their now shared room and decides to nap until everyone else gets up. At least here, she’s allowed to do that. Back in the manor, their mother always had them on a strict schedule and if you didn’t follow it you would get punished. Her last thought before falling asleep in how she never wants to be like her parents.

°~♡~°

She wakes hours later with a start, momentarily forgetting where she is when she hears voices coming from down the hall. It takes her a moment to recognize the room she’s in, and she relaxes when she does. Amelia changes out of her pajamas, before heading downstairs again.

She finds the younger Nocedas in the kitchen. “Good morning, Amelia.” Luz greets her from their spot next to the stove, while Luca gives her a tired nod in acknowledgement.

“Morning.” The witch says back.

Luz immediately pulls her into a conversation, while their brother seems to have dozed off on the table. They ask Amelia how she is feeling and start talking about random topics that pop in their head. She gets why Amity calls them her sunshine now. The kid is so full of energy and somehow lights up the room by just being in it.

After politely declining Luz’s offer of breakfast as she had already eaten, Amelia goes up to finish her homework for tomorrow. Or at least try, since she had broken her dominant hand. At least she still had magic to help her.

°~♡~°

When Lucía finally comes back home, she finds Luz and Amelia happily chatting away on the living room couch. “What is this and where is Luca?” She asks, pointing between the two of them.

Luz turns to their sister with a smile and answers. “Luca’s in his room moping cuz Amber didn’t have time to hang out today. And did you know that Amelia is also an Azura fan?”

The older human’s eyes widen as she glances at the witch, now sporting a light blush. “I did not. Am I interrupting? Because I can go.” She points towards the hallway leaving to the stairs.

“No, don’t worry. I was gonna go check on dinner anyway.” The kid shakes their head, getting up and walking to the kitchen.

“You made a new friend, huh?” Lucía asks Amelia teasingly when Luz is out of earshot.

The short girl’s blush darkens and her ears twitch and lower a bit. “They’re a good kid. And I haven’t really had anyone to talk about Azura with before besides Amity because everyone thinks it’s too childish.”

The human hums in agreement and nods. “Well, I’m happy you’re getting along. You know what they’re making for dinner?”

“No, it was some human dish.”

She nods again, and they go join Luz in the kitchen.

°~♡~°

Amelia’s second dinner with the Noceda-Clawthorne family is about as chaotic, if not a bit more so, without Camila there. The younger humans are left on cleaning duty as everyone else prepares for bed.

She and Lucía quickly fall into a routine and after making sure they have everything ready for tomorrow, they cuddle up in bed again. The witch is quickly lulled to sleep by the Noceda’s warmth and steady heartbeat. Secretly she knows her heart wants more, but for now she’s content with what is given to her, and she won’t ask for more.

Chapter Text

Amelia’s morning starts the same as many previous ones, kneeling over the toilet. Lucía had gotten her more nausea medicine while she was out yesterday to help her get through the school days, but it didn’t do much if she literally woke up to the feeling of needing to hurl.

Lucía, who usually wasn’t a morning person, would quickly get up and moving when she felt Amelia scrambling out of bed. She holds her hair up, thinking they need to do something with it, so she won’t accidentally get it dirty when no one’s around to hold it up for her.

The two finish in the bathroom and head down, leaving the only morning person (Luz) to wake up the middle Noceda child and drag him down.

The older girl decides on making waffles topped with fresh fruit for breakfast, so she gives Amelia the task of cutting fruit as she makes the batter. King is the first to join them in the kitchen, and Lucía asks him to set the table while she makes the waffles. When Luz finally manages to get Luca down, the little demon, older human and witch are already munching on their food.

After eating, they all get ready for school and Lucía tells her sibling to go ahead, while she and Amelia would follow them soon. The girls use Lucía’s staff, while the younger two go on Luca’s.

A few minutes into the flight, Lucía asks the witch. “Should I drop you off somewhere on your usual route? You know, so people don’t start asking questions if we arrive together.”

“Yeah. That would probably be a good idea.” The Blight agrees.

“Point the way.”

°~♡~°

Lucía drops Amelia off on her regular route, a few minutes away from Hexside and circles back a bit, so it wouldn’t be obvious which way she had come from. They’d agreed to stay away from each other in school and meet at the same place after to go back to the Owl House.

When the human arrives at school, her siblings have already gone to their classes, and she walks in to get her books from her locker demon and follow their example. While going to her first class, she notices the strange bustling and whispers from the other students. Seems like they’d gotten their grubby little hands some new juicy gossip or rumors to spread. Lucía herself didn’t care much for that shit, as long as she wasn’t involved.

Wionna and Austin are waiting for her in front of the magic history class, and the three go in together to take their seats. “You guys know what everyone’s whispering about?” The human asks her friends.

“Oh, Rebecca apparently heard that Amelia’s parents disowned her and kicked her out.” The plant witch explains calmly.

The Noceda’s eyes go wide, and she decides to play it off as if she’d heard that for the first time. “Really? You mean Blight, right?”

“Yeah. Some think she got pregnant at the party and her parents found out.” Austin adds.

Lucía almost chokes on her own spit. “What!?” She asks in a higher pitch, before coughing to clear her throat. “This is ‘little miss prefect’ we’re talking about. There’s no way.”

Wionna lightly slaps the back of the boy’s head. “See, I told you, Auzzy. Lucía agrees with me that there’s no way Amelia would do something like that. It’s just some stupid rumor, with no facts to back it up.”

“Yea.” The taller girl nods, cringing inwardly.

Austin grumbles a bit, but the subject is dropped as the bell screams, signaling the start of their first lesson.

°~♡~°

Amelia tries her best to hide her slight limp, and pulls the edge of her sleeve over her cast to make it less noticeable before walking in to school. She immediately notices the (not so subtle) stares directed at her and whispering as she passes crowds of students. It makes her slightly uneasy, and she has to stop her hand from going to her stomach. She walks quickly to her locker for her books and then to her first lesson.

Hopefully, whatever this was, would go away soon.

°~♡~°

Oh, how wrong she was.

On her way to the second class of the day, Amelia gets stopped by Rebecca and her posse.

“Havenstar.” The green-haired witch says, keeping her face neutral.

“Blight.” Rebecca returns with a smug look on her face. “Is it really true that mother dearest kicked you out of the house?” The triclopse feigns surprise at her own statement. Melody and Ivory stand behind her, blocking the way forward.

Amelia lip twitches into a slight scowl. “And where would you have heard shit like that?”

“Oh, I just thought I overheard my mother talking to yours yesterday that she disowned her oldest. And that just so happens to be you.” She points a manicured finger at the Blight, showing off a cruel smile.

The shorter witch’s heart drops to her stomach, but she doesn’t let it show and just stays quiet, glaring at her.

Rebecca’s eyes go wide. “So it’s true?” She laughs. “What did you do?”

“That in none of your business.”

“Aww, come on now. I thought we were friends, Blight.” She circles the smaller witch running a hand over her shoulder, which the other immediately pulls away from.

“Well, you thought wrong.” Amelia begins to walk away from the group, not wanting to be late to her next class.

“Do you know who the other parent is yet?” The triclopse whispers as she passes, making her freeze in horror.

“What did you say?”

Rebecca gets closer and whispers, only for her to hear. “Oh, did you really think you were hiding it so well, what happened at the party? You excusing yourself to go to the bathroom so often, fainting in class and now getting disowned. The only reasonable theory is that you ‘little miss slut’ got yourself pregnant.”

“Stay out of other people’s business, Havenstar.” Amelia snarls and pushes past the group, hearing them laugh behind her.

°~♡~°

Lunchtime finally rolls around and Amelia wants to disappear. Her anxiety keeps rising every time she has to walk through the halls and now in the cafeteria, surrounded by so many people, she almost feels sick.

The witch looks around trying to find an unoccupied table, but seeing none, she resigns herself to eating outside again. Before she can make her way to the door though, she sees Luz waving at her from the corner of her eye. Amelia turns towards them and sees them happily gesturing for her to come closer.

She walks over, her ears lowering a bit as Amity pats the spot next to her. “Are you sure your friends are okay with me sitting here?” She asks her sister quietly.

“Of course it’s okay, Amelia.” Luz answers for her, Willow and Gus nodding along to their statement.

The older witch smiles at the kids and takes a seat next to Amity.

°~♡~°

Lucía hasn’t seen Amelia since before school and was beginning to worry how the rumors would affect her. She walks in the cafeteria with Wionna and Austin, and the three situate themselves in the lunch row. Trays in hand, they go to sit at their usual table before Lucía spots the massive mane of green sitting at her sibling’s table.

The human ignores her friends and goes over to the kids’ instead. She and Amelia share a quick glance, before she addresses her sibling. “Luz, ¿está todo bien? ¿Por qué está sentada con ustedes?

La vi sola en medio de la cafetería y la invité a sentarse con nosotros. Ella es de la familia, y la familia no deja a los suyos solos.” Luz answers in rapid Spanish.

Lucía smiles and rustles the kid’s hair. “Gracias hermanito. Is it okay if I sit here too?”

“Yeah, go ahead.”

Lucía sits next to Amelia, and Wionna and Austin wordlessly join the table. The amber eyed witch holds a hand over her mouth and leans towards the tall human a bit. “I thought we agreed.”

“There are rumors circulating about you being… you know. I wanted to see how you are.” The older girl keeps her voice low.

Amelia frowns. “Mhm. Can we talk about this later?”

“Right. Too many people here.” She agrees, and the two go back to their lunches.

This quick exchange doesn’t go unnoticed by Lucía’s friends, but they decide it’s probably not best to ask them about it right now.

°~♡~°

With 10 minutes left before the next bell, Lucía and Amelia hide in the second floor supply closet. The witch checks that no one has followed them and makes a quick sound canceling spell in case someone walks past. She breathes out slowly and leans her forehead against the door, her back turned to the other girl.

The human’s brow furrows. Turns out she was right to worry. “Something’s wrong, I can tell. What happened Amelia?”

The shorter girl places both palms against the door and squeezes her eyes shut. “Rebecca figured it out I’m pregnant and confronted me about it. She’s the one who’s been spreading the rumors.”

“That much I already figured.” Lucía crosses her arms, nodding.

“What do I do?” Amelia asks no one in particular.

“Ignore her. Ignore the rumors. Don’t give them more fuel for the fire.”

“Easy for you to say.”

“Yes, but involving me could make this even worse.”

Amelia sighs. “You’re probably right. Titan, this sucks.”

Lucía approaches her, turning her around by her shoulders and pulls her into a tight hug. “I’m sorry.”

“For what?” The witch looks up at her, confused.

The taller girl huffs, like it should be obvious.

Amelia frowns and hugs her back. “It’s not… I didn’t mean it like that. I meant dealing with Rebecca and her gang suck.”

“Being pregnant must suck too.”

“I can handle that just fine. Thank you very much.” The witch huffs.

This gets a small laugh out of Lucía. “If you say so.”

°~♡~°

Wionna and Austin pull Lucía aside before she can take off on her staff, as soon as she’s out of the building.

“Hey! What the fuck guys?!” The human yells at the two, who almost topple her.

Austin speaks up first, pointing at his taller friend. “What’s going on between you and Amelia?”

“You know something about the rumors we don’t. Don’t you?” Wionna states.

Lucía swallows, rubbing the back of her neck. “I… I can’t tell you anything. You’ll have to ask Amelia yourself. I really gotta go now.” Her eyes dart to the tree line and back to her friends.

“We’re your friends. You know you can trust us.” The boy tells her.

The human grimaces a bit. “I know, I know. But this is like a super personal thing, and it’s really not my place to say anything.”

The plant witch nods, patting Austin on the shoulder. “Okay. We will ask Amelia ourselves when we find the time.”

The taller girl gives her an appreciative smile. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” She waves them goodbye and takes off towards where she and Amelia had agreed to meet up.

°~♡~°

Amelia had gotten out of class early and had been waiting a few minutes already when Lucía showed up.

“Hey, sorry. I got held up by Winn and Auzzy for a bit.” She moves back on the staff to let Amelia sit in front.

“It’s fine. Your friends are important to you.” The witch assures her.

They take off with the smaller sitting securely between Lucía’s arms and body. “Sure, but this time they were just being nuisances. Aaaaand they might be to you too in the next few days.”

Amelia makes a small noise of confusion, so Lucía continues.

“They think that something might be going on between us and that it could be connected to the rumors. I told them it was a personal matter, and they should ask you, cuz let’s be honest, it’s not my place to tell anyone. I mean, you don’t have to if you don’t wanna. As your friend and theirs, I’m giving you full permission to tell them to go fuck themselves.” The human starts to ramble a bit towards the end and has to shut herself up.

The witch laughs, making the other blush and clear her throat. “Anyway. How was the rest of your day? Other than Ms. Bitch Ass Triclopse, being the absolute worst, as always.”

“Boring, like school usually is.” She says and looks back at her with a smile that seems to ask if that’s the best she can come up with.

Lucía has to agree with her, that was probably a stupid question. So instead, they spend the rest of the flight back to the Owl House in relative silence.

Notes:

I'm leaving this chapter at this right now, cuz what's the point of writing pretty much the same things at the end as the last 2 chapters.

Translations:
Luz, ¿está todo bien? ¿Por qué está sentada con ustedes? - Luz, is everything alright? Why is she sitting with you?

La vi sola en medio de la cafetería y la invité a sentarse con nosotros. Ella es de la familia, y la familia no deja a los suyos solos. - I saw her standing alone in the middle of the cafeteria and invited her to sit with us. She's family, and family doesn't leave their own alone.

Gracias hermanito. - Thank you little brother. (I read masc words are also used as neutral, so it technically shouldn't be wrong)

I'm gonna be honest. I used an online translator, cuz my Spanish is nowhere good enough for long sentences like this yet.

I think I'll do another time skip if I don't get any other ideas. So the next one might be longer again, length and time vise.

Chapter 10: Month 3 Telling

Summary:

Wionna and Austin finally find the time to interrogate Amelia.

Notes:

Yeaaaaaa... I got nothing to say. I warned that I didn't have an update schedule.

Chapter Text

Over the next few days, the rumors die down significantly as people find new things to talk about, but Amelia knows Rebecca and her gang are still watching her. She keeps sitting with Amity and her friends at lunch, while Lucía sits at her usual table. The girls slowly settle into a new normal.

On Friday of the same week, Wionna and Austin manage to catch Amelia right before she leaves Hexside. They suddenly pull her aside, scaring the abominations witch and making her summon a fireball in her hand. Upon recognizing the two as Lucía’s friends, she closes her hand, extinguishing the flame. “Don’t do that. I could’ve burned your faces off.” Amelia warns them.

“And I’m very glad you didn’t.” Austin squeaks out, holding his hands up in surrender.

Wionna looks unfazed, crossing her arms. “We wanted to talk to you, Amelia. You might be able to answer some questions we have.”

The green-haired witch’s ears flatten against her head, and she nods. Lucía had warned her they would find her sooner or later. She hoped it would’ve been later. “Right. Can we do that outside of school, though? I have places to be.” She keeps her tone indifferent.

Wionna and Austin agree and follow her out of the building and down the forest path. Once Hexside is out of sight behind them, the two move to either side of Amelia as she keeps walking to her and Lucía’s meet-up spot. Maybe she was already there and could make things easier to explain.

The plant witch speaks up first. “So, what’s going on between you and Lucía?”

Straight to the point, huh? Amelia thinks.

“Your little exchange at lunch on Monday and the worried glances she keeps sending you whenever you two pass in the hallway aren’t exactly subtle.” She continues.

And both of you are always rushing to leave after school.” Austin adds.

The abominations witch sighs and shakes her head. “I don’t even know where to start.”

“How about the beginning?” Wionna suggests.

Amelia laughs a bit at that. “That would be at Rebecca’s party. You were there too, right?”

The plant witch agrees. “Right.”

“And you probably came with Lucía, so you might’ve noticed that at some point she went missing.”

The boy looks at her slightly confused. “Where are you going with this?”

The green-haired girl finally sees the human waiting for her in the distance, sitting on a rock and drawing something on the ground with the bottom of her staff. She notices the three witches approaching and runs up to them when Amelia waves at her. “Hey guys. What’s up?”

“We were just asking Amelia about some things you were apparently unable to tell us, but she seems to be dodging the question.” Wionna tells her taller friend.

“Oh.” She knows immediately what she’s talking about and glances at her short roommate.

“Actually, I just wanted to have Lucía here when I tell you.” The abominations witch stands next to the human, turning to the remaining two people and taking a deep breath. “The rumors about me being pregnant and getting kicked out are true.”

Wionna’s eyes go wide at this, and Austin pumps his fist in the air with a ‘Screw you, I was right.’ The plants witch punches him in the shoulder. “Do you know whose it is, and where are you staying?” Slight worry seeps into her voice, which is very unusual for the usually stoic witch.

The human clears her throat and answers for her. “She’s living with me at the Owl House and the babies are mine.” She scratches the back of her neck and chuckles awkwardly.

The constructions witch’s mouth falls open, and he stares at Amelia and Lucía dumbly. “But you two hate each other.” He points out.

The girls glance at each other and start speaking over the other.

“We were drunk.”

“Shit happens.”

“We’re at least friends now.”

Wionna stops them before they say something embarrassing. She puts her palm together, taking a breath and points at Lucía first, then Amelia. “So, let me get this straight. You got Amelia pregnant at Rebecca’s party. She got kicked out by her parents and is now living at the Owl House.”

The girls nod. “Yea, that’s basically it.”

“You said babies before. As in plural?” Austin asks them.

Lucía gives a crocked smile and pulls the green-haired witch into a side hug. “Yup, we’re having twins.”

The boy worries for a second that Amelia will react violently to the sudden contact, but she doesn’t even blink twice and just lets the human hold her. She looks perfectly comfortable, while if it were anyone else, she would snap at them and do anything to create distance between them again.

Lucía removes her arms and checks her scroll, nudging Amelia slightly. They share a look and the taller girl excuses them as them mount the dragon staff. “Well, we need to head to town now, if you don’t mind. We’ll see you guys on Monday.” She waves at her friends as they fly off.

Today Amelia was getting her cast off, the wonders of healing magic, and she has another checkup right after that. They make it with a few minutes to spare, and Lucía happily sits through everything with the witch, instead of going to do anything else while she waits.

The doctor also confirms with 100% certainty that the smaller girl is carrying two little hybrids, instead of one, as they thought after the first checkup.

°~♡~°

The girls make it home just in time for dinner after doing some grocery shopping, and the whole household sits down together at the table. They talk about their day and discuss weekend plans while eating.

Amelia and Lucía hang out in their room for the rest of the evening, doing homework and reading. While the human does the last of her school work, the small witch sits on the bed, cuddling with Solana and Marshmallow and reading one of the books her siblings grabbed for her.

The taller finally finishes everything, gathering all the books and sheets, before checking the time. The sun had already set, and she needed to be up early the next morning.

She lets herself admire Amelia sitting against the pillows, one hand resting on her stomach, the other holding a small spell circle to keep the book up and flip the pages. The liger palisman rests in the crook of her elbow, and the little white dragon is curled around her neck.

Lucía hates to disturb the peaceful scene, but she needs to work if she’s going to save up enough money for Amelia and their babies. She calls her name softly. “Amelia. It’s time to go to sleep.”

The witch raises her gaze to look at the human’s gentle smile and nods. She puts a bookmark where she left off, putting the book away and slipping the palismen onto the bed for now.

They go to brush their teeth together, and soon the girls are both in their sleep clothes and cuddled up under the covers. Lucía spoons Amelia as the small girl purrs away in content silence. She thinks they should probably get a bigger bed, as this one will truly be too small in a few months, but until then she can enjoy having the other girl close to her like this.

Notes:

*Whispers* And they were roommates.

Chapter 11: Month 3.2 Birthday

Lucía doesn’t find out about Amelia’s birthday from the witch herself, but instead she overhears Amity asking for Luz’s help in buying her big sister a practical birthday present. She nearly falls off the couch with how fast she moves and immediately goes over to the two. “It’s Amelia’s birthday?”

The kids look up at her and Amity nods. “In a few days, yes.”

“Why the hell didn’t she tell me? We gotta celebrate.” Lucía asks.

The little witch shuffles uncomfortably. “Umm, birthdays aren’t something we really like to celebrate. Our parents always try to turn it into some big event and control everything from the food, to the guest list.” She explains.

Lucía’s face falls a bit, but she shakes it off, giving them a determined look. “Well, then it’s time to change that. We could throw her a surprise party here. Just us and our siblings, and you can all help plan it. You’d know what she does and doesn’t like best.”

She can see Amity is a bit hesitant, while Luz looks like they’re about to vibrate out of their skin from excitement. The girl eventually agrees to help, though, on the condition that they keep the party small. Amelia probably wouldn’t appreciate anything that would bring too much attention to her.

°~♡~°

In the next few days, Lucía talks to all the Blight kids, sans Amelia, and gets ideas for their oldest sibling’s birthday. She makes a list of all of her favorite foods, including some of the human ones she liked, and discusses her plans with Eda and her mom to get their help too. They decide to hold the party on the exact day, which luckily falls on a Saturday. Eda even gives her the day off to get everything ready, and Camila agrees to help make the food.

When the day finally arrives, Luz and Amity are given the task of distracting Amelia and keeping her out of the house for a few hours. The kids drag her through the market and into different stores all across town. At some point, they stop at a café to eat lunch, before continuing on.

Meanwhile, the other Blights gather at the Owl House to help with party preparations. Camila brings over human food she made earlier and snacks, while Lucía and Eda prepare witch food with Amber’s help. Edric and Emira are put in charge of decorating the living room. And King runs between them and the kitchen, dragging around decorations and putting things on the coffee table.

A few hours later, putting the finishing touches on everything, Lucía texts Amity that they can bring Amelia back now. She replies with a quick ‘On our way’, giving everyone about 20 minutes to finish up what they were doing and get into position.

°~♡~°

When Amelia and the kids got back to the Owl House, she noticed the whole house is dark. Even Hooty is more quiet than usual. She opens the door slowly, Luz and Amity trailing behind.

Suddenly, the lights turn on, momentarily blinding her, and she hears a chorus of voices yelling. “Happy birthday, Amelia!” She blinks at everyone in shocked. Did her siblings plan this? They would be the only ones who knew it was her birthday, right?

Lucía comes up to her and gently pulls her inside. Seating her in a soft, fancy looking chair. She looks around taking in the decorations: balloons and streamers hung from the ceiling, the big ‘Happy birthday’ banner and the coffee table filled with different food and snacks, which she soon realizes are some of her favorites.

“What is all of this?” The witch asks the tall human, out of breath.

The other girl smiles at her. “A little birdie told me that today was your birthday, so I thought, ‘what better way to celebrate your first birthday with us, than to throw you a surprise party.’ One that is actually just about you, not like the shitty ones your parents used to throw.” She whispers the last part, only for the smaller to hear.

Amelia’s eyes fill with tears, and she covers her mouth, making Lucía worry she did something wrong. But the witch is quick to reassure her, that these are happy tears. She still isn’t used to anyone doing something like this for her just because they wanted to. The short girl smiles at her.

Then out of nowhere, King climbs on her lap and puts a sparkling party hat on her head. She laughs at the little demon’s antics and pets the top of his skull, thanking him. The birthday girl gets more individual birthday wishes as everyone settles down to eat and talk.

Everyone’s gifts were set by the fireplace, for Amelia to go through later. She gets books and accessories from her and Lucía’s siblings, Camila and Eda getting her more practical presents and a plushie from King. He says he saw her cat toy and thought it looked lonely, so it needed a friend.

The Nocedas teach the witches some human party games, and they even play some tamer Isles games. Most of them are pretty childish, but Amelia doesn’t mind at all, just enjoying the time she gets to spend with her family.

°~♡~°

Later, when everything is cleaned up and the leftovers packed away, everyone retires to their own rooms for the night. Lucía sits on the bed waiting for Amelia to come back from the bathroom, as she still hadn’t given the witch her gift.

“You have fun today?” The human asks when the witch finally walks in.

She smiles at her and nods. “Yes. Thank you for all of this. This is the best birthday I’ve had.” She says, and stretches her arms above her head, making her shirt ride up.

Lucía’s eyes go wide when she notices the witch’s stomach bulging out a bit more than normal. “You’re showing already.” She whispers.

“Huh?” Amelia looks a bit confused.

She points at the smaller girl’s belly and smiles wide, her heart fluttering at the sight. “Our babies, they’re getting bigger.”

Amelia pulls her shirt back down, but the bump is still noticeable through the thin fabric. “Oh, yeah. The doctor did say I’d grown much faster with twins. Guess I’ll need new clothes soon.” She notices the strange look the other girl is giving her and asks. “What’s with that face?”

Lucía looks at her with pure love in her eyes, even if the witch doesn’t notice it yet. “I’m just really happy I get to see them grow. I can’t wait to meet them.” She pats the space next to her. “Now come here. I haven’t given you your present yet.”

The witch sits down on the bed, crisscross. “Wasn’t the party your gift?”

The taller shakes her head and reaches for a small box on the nightstand. “No. It was my idea, but we all worked together to make it actually happen. This one is just from me.” She hands it to Amelia. “Happy birthday, Amelia.”

The smaller girl takes it, feeling the smooth velvet under her fingers, and slowly opens the box. Inside sits a thin silver ring with a shiny black stone in its center. Her face goes pink, and her ears perk up. Why would Lucía get her a ring? Was she…?

The human notices her confusion and quickly tries to do damage control. “Oh, this is not what you think. It’s umm… it’s a promise ring.” She turns the box and pulls the ring out, showing that it’s attached to a long silver chain. “I’m assuming you don’t have these here.”

Amelia shakes her head, letting the item be dropped on her open palm, the older girl’s warm callused hands covering hers.

“It’s a human tradition. I don’t really see you as a ring person, so I put it on a necklace, but it should be the right size to wear normally too.” Lucía stops herself from rambling on too long and looks the witch in the eyes. “With this ring, I promise to always care for you and our babies, no matter what. I want you to know that I’ll always be there when you need me, for whatever reason it may be.”

The Blight closes her hand around the piece of jewelry, bringing it to her chest. She closes her eyes, the long mane of green hiding her face as she lowers her head.

The taller rubs the back of her neck anxiously. “You don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to, I just wanted you to know.”

Suddenly, Amelia nearly leaps forward, smacking into the other’s chest, and wraps her arms around her tightly. “Thank you, Lucía. For everything.” She nuzzles her face into the Noceda’s shoulder, a few tears falling onto her shirt, creating small dark spots.

She hugs the smaller girl back and kisses the side of her head. “Of course.”

Chapter Text

Amelia thanks the Titan when her morning sickness finally lets up, and she doesn’t have to start her days leaning over the toilet anymore. She’s lounging on the couch when she hears a voice outside the door and Hooty yelling something to someone upstairs.

The witch pushes herself up, leaving her book on the table, and goes to open the door. On the other side, she’s greeted by a surprised looking Amity, who then smiles at her. “Hi Amelia. Is Luz home?” She asks, her palisman Ghost running past their legs and somewhere deeper into the house.

As if on cue, the human runs into the living room. “Amity!” They call loudly, making Amelia steps out of the way to let her sister in. Luz runs over to their girlfriend and picks her up in a tight hug. “Hello mi amor. You ready for Azura book club?”

Amity chuckles, gently holding the human’s face in her hands and touching their foreheads together. “Of course. That’s why I’m here.”

Luz puts the smaller girl down and the two go upstairs to the Noceda’s room, leaving the older witch looking at the kids’ interactions longingly. She subconsciously rubs a hand over her stomach as she walks back to the couch and picks her book up again. The slight frown doesn’t leave her face even as Solana curls herself up on Amelia’s belly. The palisman makes a few chirps and soon Ghost joins them, rubbing her head against the witch, trying to cheer her up.

°~♡~°

Amity and Luz come down a while later for snacks and find Amelia sleeping on the couch, cuddling the two cat palisman. They share a silent look of understanding and Luz goes to the kitchen to start cooking, while Amity goes to wake up her sister.

The younger witch shakes her gently a few times, before she stirs and sits up, Solana and Ghost slipping off her. “What is it, Amity?” She asks groggily.

The white cat jumps onto her witch’s shoulder and rubs her head against her cheek. “We’re just getting something to eat. You want anything?”

Amelia shakes her head. “I wouldn’t wanna interrupt your date.”

Amity blushes and rolls her eyes, correcting her. “Not a date, book club. And come on, you must be bored being cooped up here every weekend all alone. Luz wouldn’t mind you hanging out with us.”

Her older sister doesn’t look convinced, so the lilac-haired girl tries again. “Please Amelia. It’ll be fun. We’ll even read out loud for you if you want.”

She chuckles. The kid drives a hard bargain. “I’m not a little kid Amity, but… I would like that.”

Amity excitedly grabs her hands and pulls her up and to the kitchen with her. Luz already started making some kind of dish and offered a small, “Hey Amelia.” as the older witch was dragged in. The human gives the other two small things to help with, and after they eat, all three head upstairs to Luz’s room.

°~♡~°

As promised, Luz and Amity take turns reading the sixth Azura book out loud, while they all sit on a pile of pillows and stuffed animals. The kids sit on either side of Amelia, so everyone can still see the illustrations.

Partway through, the older witch notices a weird almost fluttering in her stomach and rubs her hand over it. Thinking something in the food didn’t exactly agree with her, she ignores it and focuses back on the words being read.

They get through a few chapters and discuss their thoughts and what they predict might happen next. Somewhere along the way, the discussion drifts to character design and to looks.

“Hey, you said you could help me dye my hair.” Amity tells Luz, suddenly remembering the bottle of lilac dye she had brought with her.

The human lightly slaps the side of their head and groans. “I almost forgot. We can do it now if you want.”

The younger witch nods, getting up to get her bag, and Luz goes to find an old towel they can use. Amelia looks at a lock of her own green hair, twirling it between her fingers and frowning at the color. It had been a while since she last dyed it, so it has also grown out quite a lot. “Hey Amity. How much of that dye do you have?”

The girl holds up the bottle for her to see. “Pretty much a full bottle. Why?”

“Could you do mine too? I’m kinda getting tired of this green.” She tells her little sister.

Luz’s eyes light up when they hear the question, and they bounce on the spot. “Can I help? Your hair looks so fluffy, and I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like.”

Amelia smiles at them and nods. “If you know how, I’ll even let you cut it.”

Amity chuckles. “Are you sure they’re not gonna mess it up?” She asks her sister, making Luz gasp in mock offense.

“It’s fine. I’ll make it work.” The older girl brushes it off.

The human scoffs at the two witches. “My own girlfriend and her older sister ganging up on me. Oh, the betrayal.”

The Blights laugh at their dramatics, as they head to the bathroom.

They start with touching up Amity’s roots and while the color sets, Luz goes to town on Amelia’s hair. Lock after lock of green falls to the floor as they give the older witch the new haircut she wanted.

After washing the dye from Amity’s hair, she and Luz work together to get through the thick mass of green, slowly turning it lilac.

°~♡~°

Amelia smiles brightly at her refection in the mirror, as she runs her fingers through her bangs and over the shaved brown sides.

“Soo, what do you think?” Luz asks, leaning towards her.

The older smiles so wide her fangs show. “It’s perfect. Thank you.”

Amity nudges her lightly with her elbow. “Better than green, right?”

“So much better.” Amelia agrees.

°~♡~°

The three continue to hang out in the Noceda’s room, playing out scenes from the books and just talking about anything and everything. Amelia notices the gentle fluttering a few more times and keeps rubbing her stomach, her eyebrows scrunched up. Eventually, Luz and Amity notices this and sit down beside her. “Are you okay? Is something wrong with the babies?” Luz asks her, a worried look on their face.

“No, no. I just keep feeling…” She stops in her tracks, when it finally clicks. “I think I can feel them moving. Oh my Titan, I can finally feel them moving.”

Amity’s ears perk up. “Wait, really?”

Amelia nods, holding both hands over her belly and giggles with joy.

“Can we feel it too?” The human look at her exited.

“You can’t feel it from the outside yet. I’ve been feeling it all day, I just didn’t realize what it was before.” She tells them, still smiling.

The younger witch squeals and flaps her hands, before hugging her older sister tightly. “I’m so happy for you.”

Amelia returns the hug with one arm, pulling Luz in too with the other. “Me too.”

°~♡~°

Lucía isn’t back by the time everyone sits down for dinner, which Amelia finds odd as Eda and King had been home for a while already. Amity and Luz decide to extend their book club to a sleepover, getting the other Blight kids to cover for her.

Amelia lies in bed staring at the ceiling as she waits for Lucía to finally come back. It was weird falling asleep without her after so long of having her right there with her every night.

She does eventually drift off for a few hours, but is woken up by the door of the bedroom opening and someone walking in, trying to make as little noise as they can. The witch sits up, and she sees the girl she’d been waiting for.

“Hey, I didn’t mean to wake you.” The human whispers when she notices her roommate was awake. She quickly gets herself ready for bed, not caring if Amelia saw her undress.

Amelia rubs her eyes, frowning. “Where were you? You missed dinner.”

Lucía gives her a gentle smile, waiting for her to scoot to her side of the bed. “I was just making some extra money. Don’t worry, I ate already.”

The witch hums and lies back down, with the taller girl’s arms making their way around her. She can smell smoke on her, but decides to leave the questions for tomorrow. After a moment, she remembers something from today’s events, she has to share with Lucía. “I felt them move today for the first time.”

The human makes a small confused noise.

“I felt our babies moving. It was like a weird fluttering in my stomach.”

The taller chuckles and pulls Amelia closer to her. “That’s amazing, Amelia.” She buries her face in her shoulder and caresses the witch’s baby bump.

“You can’t fell it from outside.” The small girl is cut off by a yawn. She was ready to go back to sleep now that Lucía was home and holding her in her arms.

“Go back to sleep, querida. We can talk more later.”

Amelia nods, a soft rumble rising in her chest as she leans herself more into Lucía’s warmth. The human follows her to dreamland not five minutes later, the familiar purrs lulling her to sleep.

°~♡~°

To say Lucía was surprised when she saw Amelia’s new haircut in the morning would be an understatement. She simply stared at her for a few minutes when she woke up, before trying to touch one of the shaved sides, only to have the witch slap her hand away as she woke up too. The human blushes scarlet, getting out of bed and turning her back to Amelia, hoping she doesn’t see her red face.

Lucía silently thanks whatever Gods there are, for giving her someone as gorgeous as the smaller girl. And then she curses them for making her so damn attractive that her brain just stopped working around her at times.

Chapter Text

“Are you going to ask Lucía to Grom?” Amity asks one day while at the Owl House. She’s sitting on a couch with Luz’s head on her lap, petting their hair, while Amelia lies on the other one, the two cat palisman sleeping on her chest and lap.

The older witch’s ear flatten against her head and her face goes red. “Wh-what do you mean? Why would I do that?”

Luz smirks and pipes up from their spot. “I’ve seen how you look at Lucía, Amelia. You’ve gone completely soft for her.”

Amity chuckles at the comment. “They’re right, you know. You should ask her out.”

Amelia frowns, shaking her head. “I can’t. What if she doesn’t feel the same way? And I’m not going to Grom anyway.”

“Why not? It’s your last year at Hexside.” The human looks at her puzzled.

Amelia pats her belly lightly and looks at the two kids. “My clothes can barely hide them anymore. And there’s no dress in the Isles that wouldn’t announce to the whole school that I am, in fact, pregnant. Rebecca and her friends are enough of a pain without confirming old rumors.”

“Everyone’s going to find out in a few weeks anyway. Your babies are only going to keep growing.” Amity reminds her, not that she really needed to.

The older groans, burring her face in her hands. “I know. I just want a little more time.”

Luz looks up at their girlfriend, who smiles at them. “Well, I think you should still come with us. Get out of the house more.”

“We can get Emira, Amber, and go shopping for a new dress for you. And maybe the twins can put an illusion spell on the dress to help hide the bump.” Amity adds.

Amelia rubs her stomach, her eyebrows scrunching up. “I don’t know, Amity.”

“Well, there’s still a few days until Grom, so you have some time to think about it.”

She hums and nods in agreement. Leaving the conversation at that.

°~♡~°

Lucía leans against the door frame of her room as she watches Amelia lying on the bed, running her hand over the slowly growing bump as she watches something on her scroll. “Hey Amelia, you feeling alright? I noticed you’ve been rubbing your stomach a lot.”

The witch makes a small noise of surprise, as she didn’t notice she was being watched, and stops the motion. “Yeah, I’m fine. It’s just a... comforting motion. I don’t even realize how often I get stuck in it.” She chuckles a bit. “They’re active little things.”

The human nods and looks like she wants to say something else.

“Are you okay, though?” Amelia asks her.

Lucía scratched the back of her neck and smiles crookedly. “I’m great. I just... and you can totally say no, just... Can I...?” She trails off, one of her hands reaching out to the other girl.

The pale girl smiles, figuring out what she’s trying to ask, and beckons her over. “Come here.” She moves her hand out of the way as the human kneels next to the bed. “Thank you for asking first.”

The taller nods with a serious look on her face. “Of course. I wouldn’t want to make you uncomfortable.” Her hands hover above the bump, looking at the other for conformation.

Amelia laughs at her awkwardness and guides her hands down. “Even though I’m already carrying your children?” She asks.

“Especially since you’re carrying my children.”

The witch looks at her with a kind of softness in her eyes and whispers. “You’re too sweet for your own good, Noceda.”

Lucía gently prods and strokes her stomach, trying to feel around for any movement. Amelia told her before she couldn’t feel anything from the outside yet, but she could still try.

After a few minutes, the witch stops one of her hands, making the tan girl look up in confusion. She just smiles and sits up on the bed. “Get up here.” She pats the spot behind her as she scoots down a bit.

The human complies, albeit a bit hesitantly, and sits stiffly against the headboard, waiting for the smaller to make the next move. She still isn’t sure how much touch she can get away with before the witch gets annoyed with her.

Amelia simply positions herself between her legs and leans back against her chest with a content sigh. She noticed Lucía’s hands hovering awkwardly again and brings them back onto her stomach. “We cuddle all the time at night. Why are you being so stiff now?”

“Cuz I don’t know how long until you get pissed-off. You’re not exactly someone who enjoys being touched for too long.”

“I’ll tell you when I’ve had enough. That work for you?” The witch leans her head back, nuzzling against the human’s chin.

“I would appreciate that, yes.”

Amelia fully relaxes into the other’s embrace and lets out gentle purrs. The two girls sit there for another few minutes, before Lucía breaks the silence. “Do you have a date for Grom yet?”

The witch’s purring comes to a stuttering halt, and she mumbles. “I’m not going.”

Lucía’s eyes go wide and she asks. “What? Why not?”

The smaller girl pushes herself out of the human’s arms and sits against the wall to face her. She gestures down to her stomach, letting Lucía fulling see how big it already is from the side. “Nothing would hide them anymore.”

“But it’s our last year at Hexside. Our last Grom.”

Amelia shakes her head. “Amity and Luz already tried to convince me to go.”

The taller girl frowns. “I just don’t want you to be left out. Everyone else is going, so you’d be here alone for the night.”

She swears the girl looks like a kicked hellhound puppy right now. The looks she gives the witch makes her almost want to give in. Almost. Her ears turn down, and she has to look away from Lucía to keep her composure.

“Okay, okay. I won’t push it. You wanna come back here?” The human asks, opening her arms.

“Yea.” Amelia sighs and lets herself lie back against the other’s chest.

°~♡~°

“Come oooon, Amelia. At least come with us.” Emira whines, trying to pull Amelia up by her arms. She, Amber and Amity had been hounding her nonstop ever since they got to the Owl House to pick up the Nocedas to go shopping together. Luz and Luca were already waiting and giving the oldest witch sympathetic looks as her siblings continued to annoy her.

Lucía finally comes down the stairs with her palisman and sees them trying to drag the poor girl off the couch. She holds her staff in the crook of her elbow and claps her hands together loudly. “Okay kids. Step away from the pregnant lady.”

Emira lets her oldest sister drop back to the couch and backs away with her hands up. No one messes with the oldest Noceda, she learned that the hard way. “She’s being stubborn.”

The human sighs, crossing her arms. “I know Em, but we can’t make her go anywhere if she doesn’t want to.”

“Thank you, Lucía.” Amelia pipes up.

Lucía smirks at her as she turns to the group of teens. “As fun as Grom will be, she would rather spend time with Hooty.”

At the mention of his name, said bird tube stretches himself into the living room and loudly asks. “Are you guys talking about meeee?”

Multiple groans can be heard throughout the room, as the oldest human laughs.

“Hey, I am excellent company! Hoot hoot!” Hooty calls and retreats back to the door with a pout, closing it behind him.

“Luciana, that was so mean.” Luz whines, as their sister’s laughter slowly dies down.

The older human wipes a tear from her eye, as she catches her breath. “Okay, okay. I’m sorry guys.” She hears a very unhappy grunt coming from the couch and sees Amelia standing up and walking towards her.

The witch takes hold of Marshmallow, while glaring at the human, and tugs the staff out of her hand. “Let’s go.”

Everyone looks at her in shock as she walks out of the house, dragon staff in hand. Lucía is the first to follow her, a big smile on her face. “Yes ma’am.”

°~♡~°

They divide into two groups: older Blight sisters in one, Nocedas plus Amity in the other. The Blights decide to find Amber and Emira dresses first, since they already had some kind of idea of what they wanted. Amelia mostly trailed behind for the time and gave advice of which outfits fit the two best.

Once they’re done with that, it’s the oldest witch’s turn. Much to her dismay.

They spend the better part of an hour dragging Amelia from one store to another and making her try on more dresses than she cares to count. Eventually, though, Amber and Emira seem to come to an agreement as the oldest witch stands in front of the mirror modeling the latest dress.

The dress is a pale pink with a knee-high tulle skirt and little heart shaped boob window. It has a high neckline, no sleeves and a wide pink ribbon going all the way around just above her stomach. And the layers of tulle perfectly hide her bump, just like she wanted to.

She smooths the skirt over her stomach and looks at herself in the mirror. The girls were right. This was exactly what she wanted, and it looked great on her.

Emira stands behind her, putting her hands on Amelia shoulders and smiles. “So, do you like it? Are we getting this one?” She asks as Amber stands on her other side.

The older witch sighs. “It is very nice.”

The younger girls keep looking at her in anticipation, waiting for a proper answer.

She chuckles. “Okay, you win. This is the one.”

Amber and Emira laugh and cheer quietly. Amelia smiles at them and excuses herself to go change back into her regular clothes.

Her sisters pay for the dress, since the lilac-haired woman doesn’t have much money of her own right now, and leave the store to catch up with the others.

Chapter Text

The night of the dance arrives all too fast in Amelia’s opinion. Amity and Amber are already downstairs with their partners and Lucía, all waiting for her to came down. The small witch stands in front of the bathroom mirror, checking her makeup and hair for a final time. She takes a deep breath, running her hands through her hair a few more times and smoothing down her dress. Making sure that her clothes do truly hide her bump fully, she exits the bathroom and heads downstairs.

Lucía comes into the hall to go find the witch just as Amelia starts descending the stairs. She looks at the lilac-haired girl in awe, feeling her cheeks heat up at the sight.

The smaller girl smiles at her, standing on the second step to be at eye level with the other. “Hey.”

The human clears her throat, turning her eyes away. “Hey, you ready to go?” Lucía offers her arm to her.

“Yea. Let’s go.” She comes down the last few stairs and links arms with the taller girl.

Luz and Amity smile and nod approvingly as they enter the living room, making Amelia blush as she waves them off.

Everyone finally makes their way outside, mounting their staffs and starting the flight to Hexside. The youngest two go on Ghost, King goes with Eda on Owlbert and Luca and Amber take their own staves. Amelia goes with Lucía as always, having to sit sidesaddle because of her dress between the older girl’s arms.

°~♡~°

They can hear the music as soon as they land in front of the school. The group enters the gym together and then splits up to go find their friends or hang out at the snack table.

Amelia makes her way to the bleachers, keeping an eye out for her old ‘friends’. She watches people milling around and dancing from her spot, high up and away from everyone else. She makes a note of where everyone is: Luz and Amity are dancing near the stage with their friends, Luca and Amber stand near the snacks with Wendy and Lucía is goofing off with Austin and Wionna next to the bleachers.

The witch knows Lucía is staying near just to keep an eye on her. She must look really pathetic, sitting up here all alone, watching everyone else have fun.

Minutes go by, and the students start making their way off the floor in preparation of watching some poor bastard battling their worst fears. Amelia’s siblings and the Nocedas find her quickly and sit down near her with their friends.

The kids chosen is a scrawny little thing, probably a grade below Amity. They have some generic fears the short witch can’t bother to remember. The fight is a bit boring in her opinion and over far quicker than last year. There’s celebration for the kid, and most everyone quickly returns to what they were doing before.

She notices Lucía lingering behind while the others leave, and then turning around to walk towards her instead. The human stops on the step below her and smiles at her, bowing and holding out a hand. “Would you care for a dance, milady?”

Amelia starts reaching out, but stops short of a few centimeters. “Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I’m sure. You’re here, might as well have some fun, right?”

The witch thinks for a moment, glancing at the people below before nodding and taking her hand.

Lucía gently pulls her up, and they descend the bleachers hand-in-hand. They can feel everyone’s eyes on them as they walk onto the dance floor, turning to face each other with smiles on their faces. Seeing the oldest Blight child with the human she supposedly hated so much was definitely a sight to behold for the other students.

The taller girl holds her close by her waist, enveloping her small hand in her much bigger one, while Amelia places the other one on her shoulder. They gently sway to the music, ignoring everyone else around them. One song transitions into another, and they change their movements accordingly, keeping each other close.

The witch laughs softly as Lucía twirls her out and then back into herself, making the tan girl's heart flutter at the beautiful sound. The lights twinkle in Amelia’s eyes as she looks up at her dance partner with a wide smile, and Lucía swears she falls in love all over again.

The smaller girl sighs and pats the human on the shoulder. “Let’s go sit down for a bit. I’m getting a bit out of breath.”

Lucía nods and walks her back to the bleachers, her arm still around her waist. She lets go as Amelia plops down on the second step and rubs her ankles. “Probably shouldn’t have worn heels, huh.” She grumbles a bit.

“Want me to get you something to drink?”

“Would you, please?” The witch looks up with a hopeful smile.

She nods again and runs off towards the snack table. “I’ll be back in a few.”

Once Lucía is out of sight, someone else appears next to her, a wicked grin stretched across her face. “What were you doing with that human Blight?” The triclopse asks her.

Amelia scowls at the unwanted company. “Three eyes, and you’re still as blind as can be. We were just dancing if you couldn’t tell.”

“You know that’s not what I meant. Are you trying to get pity from her?” The pink-haired witch laughs. “Such a lowly thing. How long has it been now since your parents kicked you out? Two months? I’m sure the human would gladly take you in for a price, you little slut.”

The smaller girl growls at the implications and has to force her hands to stay at her sides. “I don’t need anyone’s pity.” She spits out.

Just as Rebecca is about to say something else, Lucía comes back, bottle of water in hand. She pushes past the three-eyed witch like she doesn’t even exist and stands by Amelia. She hands her the bottle and leans in, speaking loud enough only for the smaller to hear. “I got you some water. Wasn’t gonna risk brining spiked punch.”

“Thank you.” The Blight takes the bottle, uncapping it and taking a long drink from it.

“Hey! Couldn’t you see we were talking, you stupid human?” Havenstar grabs Lucía’s shoulder, forcing her to turn around.

The taller girl glares at her. “Is that what you call it? Because to me, it looked more like you were harassing Amelia.”

“Why do you even care about this whore? You two used to beat each other up all the time, and now you’re suddenly all buddy-buddy?”

“What others do is none of your business.” She says in a low tone.

A cruel spark flashes in Rebecca’s eyes, and she smirks. “Are you getting some of that too?” She nods towards Amelia. “Why else would you be getting so defensive?” She laughs.

“Fuck off, Havenstar.” Lucía snaps at her.

“You know she’s knocked up, right? Or did you decide to get rid of it?” The triclopse turns to the abominations witch.

Amelia winces and grabs the bottom of her dress, pulling it down over her knees. The human notices the action and steps in front of Amelia, shoving Rebecca back. “Is your life really so boring that you have to stick your nose everywhere?”

The pink-haired witch is quiet for a moment before sneering back. “And what are you gonna do about it, human?”

Lucía throws the first punch, catching Rebecca off guard and hitting her square in the jaw. The witch touches her cheek in shock before retaliating. The tan girl dodges her fist, stepping to the side. As planned, the other girl follows her away from Amelia and onto the gym floor. She manages to land a punch to Lucía chest, knocking her back a bit.

A crowd quickly forms around the two as they trade blows, not risking using magic with so many people around. Somewhere in the commotion, someone notifies the teachers, who come to break up the fight. Austin and Wionna pull Lucía away, while Rebecca is dragged off by a teacher.

The human growls and pushes her friends off, walking back to the lilac-haired witch who is now standing up. She clutches the edge of her dress in her hands, looking down at her feet. “Amelia, are you okay?” The taller girl asks her softly.

“I want to go home.” She tells her, not looking up.

Lucía looks at her with wide eyes, but she guesses she shouldn’t be too surprised. “Yeah, okay. We can do that. Just let me go tell Luz and Luca.”

Amelia doesn’t say anything as the other dashes off to find her siblings. She comes back not a minute later, and they walk out of the school together. Once outside, Lucía gets on her staff and waits for the small girl to take her usual seat, but instead she sits behind her. Still not looking directly at her, she tells her to start flying.

°~♡~°

Even flying slower than usual, they get back before anyone else. It’s better this way, they deserve to enjoy the rest of Grom.

Amelia gets off as soon as they land and walks into the house with Lucía trailing behind her. She tries to ask what’s wrong again, but the witch doesn’t answer and just keeps walking. She opens the bathroom door and turns to the taller, pulling her inside. “Sit.” She tells her, pointing to the small stool next to the sink.

The human does as told as her roommate grabs a clean hand towel and wets a corner of it. She tilts Lucía’s head up, causing her to blush at the sight of her crush’s face so close to hers. Amelia’s brow is furrowed as she wipes the blood off the other girl’s split lip, before tilting her head side to side to check for more injuries. She then takes her hands and cleans her knuckles with the same gentle motions.

Once she’s done, she throws the towel in the hamper and asks. “Anything else I should know about?”

Lucía shakes her head and replies in a slightly higher pitch, still blushing madly. “Nope, all good.”

Amelia hums and nods. She crosses her arms, signaling that the conversation wasn’t over yet.

“What?” The human asks, still sitting on the tiny stool, making her have to look up to face the short witch.

She lets out an exasperated sigh. “What?” She asks back. “What the hell was that back there? Why did you have to start a fight with her?”

“She was talking shit about you.” Lucía mumbles, averting her gaze.

“So what? Let her talk. She didn’t actually do anything.”

“Well, I can’t stand her bitch ass. No one messes with my family.” The words leave her lips before she can fully register them.

Amelia’s face explodes with crimson, and she covers the lower half of her face with her hand. “We’re… family?” She asks hesitantly.

“Of course we are.” Lucía stands up, giving her a gentle smile, and reaches to take her other hand. “You, me and our babies. We’re a family, Amelia.”

The witch lowers her arm and takes a step forward to wrap the taller girl in a hug.

Lucía’s a bit surprised by the action, but reciprocates nonetheless. “I’m sorry for starting a fight. I know you can handle yourself.”

“It’s okay. Just don’t make a habit out of it.” She tells her, making the human chuckle.

They stand there for a while, just holding each other, before Amelia mumbles something into the other’s chest. “What was that, cariño?” Lucía asks.

The pale girl turns her head to the side and repeats. “I’m really tired.”

“Okay. Let’s go to bed then.”

Chapter Text

Amelia grumbles to herself as she tries to button up her shorts. Staying at home all day doesn’t mean she shouldn’t get dressed. If only these damn shorts would fit.

At the same time, Lucía walks in. “Hey Am…” She freezes at the sight of the witch’s bare back and slaps a hand over her eyes. “I’m sorry!”

The smaller girl didn’t immediately notice her coming in and looks at the flustered girl now standing in the doorway. “It’s fine. You’ve already seen me naked, so it’s not like this is anything new to you.”

“Ameeeliaaaaa!” Lucía draws her name out, still hiding her burning face in her hands.

The witch chuckles, goes to pick up a shirt and pulls it on. She doesn’t take the shorts off yet and walks closer to the other girl. “You can look now. I’m covered up.”

“You sure?”

“Of course I am. Did you need anything?”

Lucía slowly lowers her hands and opens her eyes, to see that Amelia was now in front of her had a bit more on than a bra and shorts. She clears her throat, averting her eyes again. “I have a free day today, so I thought we could do something productive together.”

Amelia looks at her, a bit surprised. She crosses her arms and smiles. “What did you have in mind?”

The taller girl taps her pointer fingers together. “Well, since we don’t have anything for the babies yet, and they’ll be here in a few months. We could go shopping in the human world for baby stuff.”

The witch’s eyes go wide. “Oh… oh my Titan, we don’t have anything for them yet.”

“Sooo…”

“Yes, of course we should go. Just give me a minute to find something better to put on.”

Lucía looks her up and down and raises an eyebrow. “What’s wrong with your current outfit?”

“Most of my pants and skirts are too tight to wear anymore. These included.” She gestures to her shorts, before going over to the pile of clothes on the floor and kneeling down to start folding everything away neatly.

The human joins her and asks. “Do none of these fit anymore?”

Amelia shakes her head. “Sadly no. At least leggings and some stretchy skirts are still okay, but I don’t own anything like sweatpants.”

“Then we gotta get you some new clothes too.”

The smaller frowns and shakes her head again. “I don’t have a lot of money, Lucía.”

Lucía smiles at her. “Who says you’re paying?” She holds up a finger to stop Amelia from trying to protest. “And before you start spouting some bs about me wasting my money. Clothes are essential, and I’m fine paying for any stuff you need.” She puts another skirt in the folded pile.

The witch clenches her hands around a pair of pants and frowns. She hates the thought of Lucía spending money on her. If it were her siblings, she’d be fine with it because they use their parents’ money, but any money the taller girl has she knows she has earned herself with hard work.

While Amelia is stuck in her thoughts, her roommate finishes folding the rest of the clothes and takes them over to her desk to deal with later. The smaller girl looks at her surprised, when Lucía comes back and gently pulls her up from the floor and smiles. “Get out of your head and get dressed. I’ll wait for you downstairs.” She grabs herself a different pair of pants and her backpack before leaving the room.

Amelia sighs and goes to pick an outfit that actually still fits. She decides on her old baby pink dress and a pair of black tights, with pink slip-ons and black studded wristbands. They’d be going to the human realm, so she doesn’t really bother trying to hide her pregnant belly. No one except Lucía’s mother knew her there anyway.

°~♡~°

Coming downstairs, she finds the taller girl sitting on the couch, now in black cargo shorts and her jacket tied around her waist. She immediately perks up upon seeing Amelia and walks to the middle of the room. “Hey, I already called mamí, and she’s letting us use the car, so we won’t have to do as much walking. Lucky you.” She chuckles softly and holds her hand out to the witch as she summons the portal door.

Amelia holds on to her hand firmly as the door opens and shows them a glimpse of the human realm. “What’s a car?”

Lucía looks at her and tries to find the fastest, easiest way to explain it to someone who had never seen one. “Umm… like a metal carriage that isn’t pulled by any type of creatures. It moves on its own, in a way that would take way too long to explain right now.”

The witch nods and lets the human guide her through the portal, closing her eyes at the bright light engulfing them.

Coming out the other side, Amelia takes a moment to look at her new surroundings. It looks so different from the Isles. The sounds, the smells, no dangerous creatures immediately coming after them even though they looked to be in the middle of the woods, at a rundown shack.

The taller girl just lets her take it all in, a loving smile on the face as she watches the awestruck witch. Just as she’s about to take a step off the porch Lucía stop her making her look back. “Just a second.” She says, and takes off her beanie, placing of on Amelia’s head to cover her pointed ears. “There we go. Now you’re good to go.”

The smaller girl blushes and touches her hand to the soft red fabric. She knows it totally clashes with her outfit, but the other girl rarely took the stupid thing off, let alone gave it to anyone else. “Thank you.” She whispers, as Lucía grabs her hand again.

She nods and pulls her along, down the little forest path. “My mom’s house isn’t far. We’ll take the car from there to town.”

Amelia hums in agreement, trying not to focus too much on how Lucía’s much bigger hand enveloped hers. Her skin rough and calloused from hard work, but warm and oh so gentle as it held hers.

°~♡~°

Lucía says a quick hello to her mother as she goes to grab the car keys, but before they can leave, Camila stops them at the door. “Will you two stay for dinner?”

“Umm… I don’t know. Amelia doesn’t really do spicy food, and I don’t know how long we’ll take in town. We might just go home right after.”

The older woman smiles. “Alright bebé. Offer still stands, if you change your mind later.”

“We’ll think about it. Bye mom.” She waves to her, before closing the door after them. Still holding the witch’s hand in hers, she leads her to the car and opens the passenger door for her to get in. Once she’s sat down, Lucía leans over her to clip her seatbelt in and makes sure it’s nice and secure around her. She then closes the door and goes to sit in the driver seat, putting her own seatbelt on.

Amelia looks around a bit confused and pulls at the strap going across her body. The human gently moves her hand away. “Leave it be. It might be a bit uncomfortable, but the seatbelt is to keep you safe in case something happens.”

The smaller girl nods at that and puts her hands down in her lap. Lucía knew far more about the human world, so it was better to listen to what she says.

“The car’s gonna make noise and shake a bit when I turn it on. Try not to freak out too much.” She smiles at Amelia, getting another quick nod from her.

Truth be told, the witch was already freaked out the minute she sat inside the strange metal contraption, not that’d she’d ever admit it. She tries to brace herself, but she still jumps, a small yelp leaving her mouth, when the car comes to life.

Lucía chuckles a bit as she backs out of the driveway and starts driving down the road. She reaches a hand over to hold Amelia’s again. Hopefully offering some sort of comfort as the flustered witch looks away from her. “Hey, I wasn’t laughing at you. You’re doing great. I honestly thought you’d demand to let out at this point already.” She rubs her thumb over the back of the smaller’s hand.

The witch grumbles a bit, keeping her gaze out the window. She watches as they pass tall green trees, houses, shops and people going about their daily lives. Lucía parks the car near a line of clothing stores and unclips Amelia’s seatbelt before getting out to open the door for her. She holds her hand out for the other to take and locks up the car after them. The taller girl leads them down the street and tells Amelia to keep an eye out for baby stores.

“We’ll get new clothes for you later on the Isles, cuz I have more snails that human money. I hope that’s okay?” She tells the smaller.

Amelia rolls her eyes, but smiles. “Of course. Since you’re so insistent on buying me things.”

“I already told you, Ames. No ‘I don’t need it’ bs with me. I want you to be comfortable”

The smaller girl blushes at the new nickname and turns her head away. “Yeah yeah.” She notices a store decked out in pastel colors and cutesy imagery, with tiny clothes at the windows, and stops to look at it.

Lucía is about to ask why she suddenly stopped when she sees it too. “Oh, you found it.” The human smiles and gently tugs her along. “Come on, you can look at everything more once we’re inside.”

Amelia’s eyes go wide as they enter, and she is quick to disappear somewhere deeper into the store, leaving Lucía behind. The taller chuckles and grabs a basket, before following her. The witch is looking in awe at all the different pastel clothes. She takes an especially tiny onesie in her hands and turns to the other girl, her lip wobbling. “Are they really going to be this small? How will I hold them?”

She puts a hand over Amelia’s and smiles at her. “You will hold them just fine. And yeah, they might be pretty tiny when they’re born. Not as much space for them in there together.” She looks down at her stomach and back to the onesie. “You wanna get that one?”

The smaller girl thinks it over and puts it back, shaking her head. “Let’s look around more first.”

They continue to walk around the store for a while showing each other cute things they find, some eventually making their way to the basket. When they have a few sets of clothes for each baby, all neutral colors for now, they head to the front counter and pay for everything. Lucía decides to ask the clerk if there’s any other baby or kids stores around, and she points them to one just across the street. She thanks her and takes Amelia’s hand as they head out.

Amelia insists they need to get the two white cat plushies she finds, with pastel rainbow spots and little patches sewn on them. They get a few more toys and things they think they’ll need from the other store, before going to get groceries.

Now, cuddling the plushies to her chest, the two walk back to the car, Lucía holding the shopping bags in one hand while keeping the other around the witch’s waist to guide her along. The grocery store is a bit further away, so they decide to drive there, which also means the drive back to the house is longer.

The whole trip was probably quite the adventure to the smaller girl, so on the drive back she falls asleep in the passenger seat. Lucía feels bad about waking her up, and instead she decides to carry her up to her old room and let her sleep for a while more.

It’s a bit of a struggle to get the doors open, but eventually she has Amelia tucked in to her old bed. After making sure the witch wouldn’t be waking up, she heads down to get their bags out of the car.

Camila is more than happy to have them over. Guess Amelia decided for Lucía that they’d be staying for dinner.

The younger human helps her mother make food, to be sure Amelia has something to eat too, while they wait for Vee to come back from hanging out with xyr friends. The little basilisk had decided to keep living in the human realm even after they managed to make a permanent and stable portal. The Isles had too many bad memories for xem and besides xe can keep the Noceda’s mother company while all her children are off in another realm.

°~♡~°

Vee comes home about an hour later and helps to set the table while telling xyr adoptive family about xyr day. Lucía decides to go get Amelia once everything is ready, but before she can do that, she hears slow footsteps coming down the stairs. She sees the witch peeking into the kitchen, clutching the two plushies to her chest as she looks around bleary-eyed. When she sees the tall human, her ears perk up, and she makes a little ‘mrrrp’ sound like a cat would.

Lucía dries her hands on a dish towel and walks towards her, smiling. “Hey gatita. Did you have a nice nap?”

Amelia grumbles something unintelligible and bonks her head against the taller’s chest. She would’ve slept more, but upon seeing she was in an unfamiliar place and Lucía wasn’t anywhere near, she decided to go find her instead.

The human chuckles and wraps her in a hug, pressing her lips to the top of the smaller girl’s head. “Dinner is almost ready. You can go sit down at the table.”

The witch nods and goes to take a seat at the dining table, as Camila starts bringing in the food. Soon the rest of them join her and everyone starts pulling food on their plates. Lucía points out which things are okay for Amelia to eat, and she nods thankfully, before loading her plate with whatever human food the Nocedas had made. It had been a while since she’d eaten, and she was carrying two babies, so no one could fault her for how much she ate. And finally being outside the manor, she was also trying to break whatever stupid eating habits Odalia had forced on them as kids. She would eat however much she wanted, whenever she was hungry.

Camila asks her daughter and Amelia how they’ve been doing back on the Isles, since it had been some time since they’d last seen each other. They talk about school and their siblings, but the older human seems most excited to learn more about the babies. It was a bit surprising to the witch, because her first reaction to learning about the pregnancy hadn’t been the best to say the least. Nevertheless she’s more than happy to share with someone who understands what she is going through.

After dinner, Lucía tries to help her mother clean up, but she shoos her away saying ‘she is a guest and Vee could help her, since she’d already helped make the food’. She and Amelia leave soon after gathering all their things and saying goodbye to the other two.

The walk back isn’t that long, but the small girl is more than ready to collapse into bed the moment they make it back to their room. It’s only with Lucía’s urging that she goes to brush her teeth and changes into something more comfortable. She leaves the two rainbow cats on the dresses in the room, along with all the baby clothes, before cuddling up with the taller girl and quickly falling asleep.

Notes:

Since most wanted fluff this time, the next one isn't gonna have as much. It can't be all soft (as much as most of us would love it to be).

Chapter 16: Month 4.4 Return

Summary:

It's the Monday after Grom and someone is trying to stir up trouble again.

Notes:

My titles don't make much sense even to me, so feel free to ignore them, besides what month it is.

Warning for possessive behavior and Rebecca.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The week following Grom Lucía decides it would be easier if she starts flying Amelia all the way to Hexside. Half the school had already seen them dancing at Grom and leaving together that night. Besides she knew the witch was getting tired more easily, so that way she wouldn’t have to walk as long anymore.

But that was only part of the reason. The part she didn’t tell Amelia was that she wanted to also start walking her to her classes, so she could keep Rebecca and her posse away as much as possible. She didn’t need the extra stress of that stupid triclopse and her crew bothering her all day.

When the girls land in front of the school, the human practically attaches herself to her roommate’s side and holds an arm around her waist, as they start walking in. Amelia looks up at her confused and whispers. “What are you doing, Lucía?”

“I’m walking you to class, so that idiot triclopse doesn’t bother you again.” She whispers back.

“Everyone’s going to think we’re dating.” The witch hisses.

“They’re going to think that after what happened at Grom anyway.”

“Lucía!”

The taller removes her arm from around her waist, but keeps walking beside her. “Okay, fine. I’m still walking you to class from now on.”

Amelia can’t do much else but grumble quietly to herself as the human walks with her through the halls. She can see her scowling at the other students and her hand itching to grab at her again, but she holds herself back. What the hell was going on with her all of a sudden?

°~♡~°

Throughout the day, Lucía’s behavior keeps getting more and more possessive. As soon as one of Amelia’s lessons ended, she would be there to walk her to the next one. Even when the witch went to the bathroom, she’d stand outside and wait for her. She notices how everyone shrinks away under the taller girl’s glare when they walk the halls, and lightly slaps her arm to try and get her to tone down the murderous looks.

As they enter the cafeteria, all eyes fall on them, including those of Rebecca and her two friends. Lucía smirks when she notices the large bruise on the pink-haired girl’s jaw. Guess she was too prideful to get it healed after their fight.

The human follows Amelia to the lunch line, and once trays in hand, she leads the witch to her and her friends’ table.

Not ten minutes later, she hears the shrill voice of the older Havenstar calling her name and heels clicking across the floor towards them. Lucía sighs and faces her with a bored look. “Come for a rematch?” She asks.

The triclopse crosses her arms, glaring down at her. “You some kind of guard dog to Blight now, human?” Rebecca sneers.

The Noceda rolls her eyes and turns her back to her again. “I already told you. None of your fucking business.”

The girl stomps her foot like a child. “Look at me when I’m talking to you!”

“We have nothing to talk about.” Lucía tells her calmly.

Getting no reaction from the multi-track student, she decides to turn to Amelia instead. “Hey, Blight!” She snaps.

But Lucía cuts her off before she can get another word in. “You stay away from her!”

Rebecca gestures with a hand to the two of them sitting side by side. “See, this is what I’m talking about. Guard dog.”

The human slams her hand on the table, standing up from her seat. “She doesn’t want to talk to you. I think she’s made it pretty clear.”

Amelia places her hand on Lucía’s, trying to calm her and get her to sit back down.

“Who are you to decide what she wants?” The Havenstar narrows her eyes at the taller.

Lucía clenches her hands into fists. Who was she to decide? She shakes the thought off. No, she was Amelia’s friend and the mother of her babies. It was her responsibility to take care of them.I am someone who actually cares about Amelia.”

“Hah, sure. You’re just pretending to care, so you can sleep with her. Isn’t that right?”

The smaller girl squeezes her roommate’s hand and whispers to her. “Lucía, it’s not worth it. Leave it be.” But it’s already too late. Lucía is seeing red.

She pulls her arm out of Amelia’s grasp and faces Rebecca fully, slightly towering over her.

If the oracle witch felt any fear, she was great at hiding it. “Didn’t you hear what your master said? Down, mutt.” She taunts her. “She’ll just leave you with her bastard child once she gets bored of you.”

Rebecca doesn’t get to laugh long before Lucía grabs her by her cowl and pulls them face to face. “Shut up already, you spoiled little brat.” She growls.

“Get your hands off me!” The witch hisses as she grabs the other’s arms and tries to pull them away from herself, but Lucía’s grip doesn’t falter.

“Or what?” She sees the triclopse start drawing a spell circle from the corner of her eye, before Melody and Ivory appear behind her and each grab an arm.

“Rebecca, stop it. You’ll get in trouble again.” They tell her, while dragging the struggling witch away.

Lucía lets go and smirks at her, clearly stating her victory.

“Just you wait. You’ll learn soon enough what Amelia is actually like.” The Havenstar just can’t keep her big mouth shut.

The human shakes her head. “You don’t know anything about her. The real her.”

“What about the thing she’s carrying? She’ll just dump it on you and...”

Lucía cuts her off, her temper very close to boiling over. “They’re mine!”

The whole cafeteria goes silent, until Rebecca starts laughing maniacally. “So, that’s why. Who would’ve guessed? She must’ve been really shit-faced to sleep with someone like you. And then keeping it? What was she thinking?”

The only things keeping the human from attacking the pink-haired girl are the two witches keeping a tight hold on the triclopse and Amelia’s slender arms wrapped around one of hers, hugging it to her chest. Lucía isn’t going to hit someone who can’t fight back, and she’s not going to risk her roommate getting caught up in this and getting hurt somehow.

She watches as Rebecca is taken out of the cafeteria, boring imaginary holes into her with her glare. Lucía almost doesn’t notice the small witch still holding her onto her arm and gently tugging her away from the table. Amelia leads her out a different door and to the nearest bathroom. She checks to see it’s empty, before locking the door behind them.

The human immediately notices the deep frown on Amelia’s face as she turns towards her and crosses her arms. It reminds her of a few days ago, and she gets weak in the knees like she needs to kneel and beg for forgiveness. But she keeps standing and lowers her head. “I didn’t start a fight this time.”

“You’re lucky you didn’t, but now everyone knows.”

Lucía nods, pressing her lips into a thin line.

Amelia sighs and shakes her head. “They were going to find out at some point anyway, so I guess now was as good a time as any.” As much as she wants to be mad at the taller girl, she looks like a kicked hellhound puppy, and she finds it nearly impossible to stay angry.

“I’m sorry, Amelia.”

The witch curses her shortness as she rises to her tiptoes and reaches her arms around Lucía’s neck. “I know you are.” She pulls her head down to her shoulder.

The human chuckles a bit as she wraps her arms around Amelia in return. “Can I pick you up? My back’s gonna get sore like this.”

“You may.”

Lucía tightens her arms around her back and raises her off the ground, leaving her legs dangling. She presses her face into the crook of the smaller’s neck and breathes in slowly. “I really hate her. You know that?” She mutters, slightly tickling the other with her breath.

Amelia snakes a hand into Lucía’s hair, knowing she wouldn’t drop her if she let go of her. “Yeah, I know.”

They stay like that for a few more minute, until the witch breaks the silence. “Hey Lucía. I think it’s my back that’s getting sore instead. Would you put me down?”

The taller immediately crouches down until Amelia’s feet are safely back on the floor. “Yes, of course.” Her hands linger briefly on the sides of the smaller girl’s stomach, before moving away completely. “You wanna head back or go to class now?”

Amelia summons her scroll to check the time and quickly sends a text to someone. “We have a few minutes, so we better head to class.”

Lucía nods and goes to follow her out of the bathroom when she realizes something. “Wait, did you have enough time to eat? I have snacks in my locker if you’re still hungry.”

The witch chuckles a bit. The Noceda was always thinking about her well-being, it was endearing. “I already asked Wionna to pack the sandwich and crabapple from lunch in my bag so I could have them later. I’ll be fine.”

“Okay. That’s good.” The human nods.

Amelia’s scroll buzzes with a new message as the walk through the hall together again. “Wionna says she’ll bring our things to class.” Only difference from this morning is that Lucía isn’t glaring at anyone anymore, instead she shrinks slightly under everyone’s gazes. The multi-track student’s friends catch them just outside their next class and give the girls back the bags they had left behind. The lilac-haired girl thanks them and waves at them as they head to their own lessons.

She notices the human looking down and smiles at her, taking her hand. “Come on, Lucía. You would wanna get in trouble for being late.”

Lucía looks at her slightly shocked for a moment and then smiles back at her. “Yeah, let’s go.”

Notes:

This was supposed to have a lot more angst, but these two have turned my brain to absolute soft mushy gunk.

I have little ideas of what add to the next one, but not a lot of plot progressing. Some chapters really are just fluff without plot.

Chapter 17: Month 5 Uncomfortable

Summary:

Amelia is feeling down, luckily there is someone who might know how to make her feel better.

I had to format this all by hand from my phone, leave me alone.

This is literally almost as long as the Grom chapters combined, which I hope makes up for not updating in a while. Have fun.

Chapter Text

One day, coming back from work earlier than usual, Lucía finds Amelia curled up in a pile of blankets on their bed. The witch is facing the wall and her clothes are in a pile on the floor next to the bed. She sets her things down by the door, Lucía approaches slowly. “Amelia, are you asleep? It’s not that late yet.” She says with a small chuckle, and gets back irritated grumbling.

Okay, so she wasn’t sleeping, but something was clearly wrong if she was hiding in bed. Usually around this time she’d find Amelia reading or doing her homework, her palisman always sleeping by her side. Now, though, she had pushed Solana to the end of the mattress and buried herself under more blankets than Lucía owned. Guess she had found more from one of the hallway closets.

She sits on the bed, next to her witch roommate. “Isn’t it uncomfortable under there cariño? It’s not exactly cold.” The human tries to pull back some of the layers to try to find the other’s face. But Amelia lets out a low growls and pulls the covers tighter around herself.

Lucía frowns. “Is something wrong? You know you can talk to me, right?”

The mound moves as the smaller girl scoots even closer to the wall and shakes her head, whining quietly.

The human grows more worried about the pregnant witch’s well-being. “Are you sick, Ames? Can I help somehow?” She keeps trying to coax some kind of answer out of her. She puts a hand over where she figures Amelia’s shoulder is and feels her immediately tense up and shove her off. “Will you talk to me, please?”

The witch mumbles something unintelligible from her hiding place, curling more into herself.

“What was that?” Lucía asks and furrows her eyebrows.

Amelia sits up suddenly, letting the blankets fall off her, only holding a single sheet up to cover herself. “I said, leave me alone!” She snaps at the other girl.

Even with the quickly disappearing sunlight, the human can tell her face in damp with tears. Her eyes are red and swollen, meaning she’d probably been crying for a long time. It damn near shatters Lucía’s heart, hearing her choke back a sob as she breaks eye contact. She wants to reach out and take the smaller girl into her arms, but Amelia flinches away from her hand as she reaches up to wipe her tears.

She lies down again, her back facing the human, and pulls the covers back over her. “Please, just go away.”

Lucía sighs and gets off the bed slowly. It wouldn’t do any good for either of them if she kept pushing right now. “I’m gonna go downstairs to get some dinner, but I’ll be back soon, okay? Want me to bring you something too?”

A quiet ‘no’ comes from the witch, so the taller girl simply nods and leaves the room.

°~♡~°

When Lucía comes back, she finds Amelia in the same position as before. She sets a glass of water and a plate of apple slices and crackers down on the nightstand, before sitting on the bed next to her again.

The witch shifts slightly under the covers, making more room for her. She can hear a few sniffles come from her again, but nothing more than that.

The human moves to lean her back against the wall and strokes Amelia’s side a few times, this time not getting shoved away. “I’ll be here when you’re ready to talk.” She takes out her scroll and starts swiping through it, as she keeps one hand on the smaller girl’s leg to let her know she’s still there.

After some time, Lucía starts humming random songs, some upbeat, some sounding more melancholy. It catches Amelia’s attention, and she slowly peeks out at the taller girl. Noticing her fully focused on her scroll, she pushes the covers back a bit more, letting the chilly air hit her bare skin.

The humming slowly turns to quiet singing. The witch can’t catch all the words, but is sounds like a sad love song. Amelia finds she quite likes it, but as she shifts a bit to get more comfortable, Lucía stops singing.

The smaller girl frowns as she wipes her face with the back of her arm, before slowly sitting up, groaning slightly with effort. She clutches a blanket to her chest and scoots closer to the human to gently tug at her jacket sleeve. “Why did you stop? I liked your song.”

Lucía looks at her with wide eyes, before chuckling sheepishly and scratching the back of her neck. “Sorry, I didn’t even realize I was singing. I don’t really sing around other people.”

Amelia huffs quietly and sits back against the headboard. She really wanted to hear more. Lucía had a nice singing voice, and it almost made her forget why she was upset in the first place. Guess today just wasn’t her day.

Looking around the room, she notices the plate of snacks and water the other girl had left there earlier. The witch lets out a small whine as she finally feels the hunger settle in. She’d been feeling shitty most of the day, so she’d only eaten the breakfast her roommate had made her.

The human notices her eyeing the plate and puts her scroll away to go sit closer to her. “Go ahead. I brought it for you.”

The smaller girl looks at her, surprised. “You brought me apple slices?”

Lucía smiles and nods.

“You actually put time into cutting it up for me, instead of leaving it whole?” Amelia sniffles.

“Yeah.” The taller says with pride, before noticing her looking down again. “Ames?”

The witch shakes her head, dropping the blanket in favor of wiping her eyes. “I’m sorry.”

The human pulls her into a hug, rubbing her arm. “Hey, you don’t have to be sorry about anything.”

“It’s so stupid. I’m crying over sliced apples. And I'm sorry, for being an ass earlier.” Amelia shakes her head again, curling up against the taller.

“It’s fine cariño. I don't hold it against you.” She places a kiss to her hair.

The smaller rubs her face against the other chest, hugging her waist tightly. Maybe today wasn’t completely shit after all.

Lucía reaches past her to grab the plate and holds it out for Amelia to take. Only then, looking down at her, does she realize why she was holding a blanket around herself. The pile of clothes on the floor suddenly makes sense, as she turns her eyes away from the witch’s naked chest.

Amelia takes an apple slice and pulls a blanket back around herself when she notices the other girl’s red face. “Prude.” She chuckles.

“I just don’t wanna make you uncomfortable.”

“Trust me, you couldn’t make me feel worse than I already do.”

The taller frowns at that and looks back at her after she covers herself back up. “You wanna talk about it?”

The witch leans against her as she eats a few more apple slices and crackers. “Everything feels… bad.” She says after a few minutes. “I can’t explain why. It just does.”

“Can you tell me what exactly feels bad? Is it physical or something else?” The human asks.

Amelia furrows her eyebrows as she tries to pinpoint anything. “Clothes feel bad. Texture is wrong and they’re too tight.” She points to the pile on the floor.

“But blankets are okay?”

The smaller nods, burrowing deeper into them again. “I felt sick before, and I’m tired most of the time. I got really dizzy when standing up. All that together just makes me upset.”

“That really sucks, querida. I wish I could help somehow.”

“My fucking boobs are sore.” She mumbles.

Lucía begins chuckling at that, her shoulders shaking lightly. “I’m sorry. I’m not laughing at you, promise.”

The witch smiles and laugh with her. “Okay, yeah. I get why that was funny.”

Once they both calm down, Amelia reaches over to grab the glass of water and takes a few sips before returning it to the nightstand. Lucía gives her head another kiss, making her purr with content.

You’re so adorable, Ames. Wish I could tell you how much you mean to me. The human thinks to herself and smiles. “Hey, you wanna take a bath? Maybe it’ll help you feel a bit better.” She suggests.

Amelia looks up at her and nods. “I want something more to eat first.”

“Of course, Ames.” Lucía gets off the bed and goes to her closet to grab a shirt. She bunches it up and hold it out towards the witch. “Arms up.”

The smaller looks at her confused. “What?”

“You said your clothes were tight, so you can wear one of my shirts for now.” The taller smiles at her softly.

She wiggles out of the blankets enough to let Lucía pull the shirt over her head. It’s nice and loose around her belly, feeling much better than any of her own. Maybe she should steal some of Lucía’s clothes or ask to go buy something bigger. She holds the fabric up to her nose and takes a not so subtle sniff, making the human chuckle.

“Don’t worry, it’s clean.” She then goes to untangle more covers from the witch, leaving her with only one fairly thin blanket. She makes sure it’s nicely tucked around her before lifting the small girl into her arms.

Amelia lets out a yelp and throws her arms around the taller’s neck. She hides her reddening face in her shoulder and whines. “Give me a warning next time.”

“Okay, chica.” Lucía chuckles and walks out of the room with her.

“That’s a new one. What does it mean?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” She smirks.

“I actually would. That’s why I’m asking. I’ve only figured princesa means princess because it sounds similar.”

Getting to the kitchen, she puts Amelia down on a chair and goes to get out some leftovers. “You got that right. But what do I get for telling you?” She shows her what they have and, after getting a nod of approval, lights the stove.

The smaller girl pouts, crossing her arms. “I just want to know it’s not anything bad. Or I guess I could go ask Luz.”

“I promise I’m not calling you anything bad, Ames. Chica means girl. In a ‘hey girl’ kind of way. Another word for girl would be niña.” She tells her as she stirs whatever vegetable soup Eda had made earlier that day.

Amelia nods at that, resting her head on her hands as a comfortable silence fills the room. After a few minutes, Lucía takes the pot off the stoves and transfers the contents to a bowl. She puts it in front of the witch, ruffling her hair. “You eat up, and I’ll go run you a bath.”

The smaller hums around a spoonful, and the taller leaves to go upstairs.

°~♡~°

After Amelia finishes eating, Lucía carries her back up to the bathroom. The bath is filled with bubbles, and she can smell lavender in the room. Lucía puts her down, showing where she left her a clean change of clothes and turns to leave, before Amelia grabs her wrist. “You can, umm… Would you stay with me? I mean it, like, just sitting somewhere here, sharing the same space. You don’t have to, of course.” Her face is red enough to rival Amity’s before she and Luz got together.

The human nods rapidly, her own face heating up as she realizes what staying would mean. “Sure. I can do that.”

“Okay. Cool.” The witch stands there for a few moments, still holding the other’s wrist, before remembering what she was going to do. “Right. Turn around, and I’ll tell you when I’m in the bath.”

Lucía does as told and Amelia drops the blanket that was still around her, undressing quickly and slowly sinking into the warm water. The smell of lavender is now stronger, and she inhales deeply before telling the other girl she could turn back now.

The taller girl comes closer and sits on the floor with her back against the tub to give the smaller girl a bit more privacy.

Amelia reaches over the edge and taps Lucía’s shoulder. She looks between her hand and the human, silently asking her to hold it. Once she does, the witch smiles and closes her eyes, letting out a satisfied hum.

°~♡~°

“Do you think I’m pretty?” Amelia asks suddenly. “Objectively speaking.”

Lucía glances at her over her shoulder, noticing the other’s eyes trained on the wall. “Of course, you’re pretty.” She tells her.

The witch looks to her, a sad strained smile on her face, and gestures to herself. “Even like this? A fat crying mess.”

The human turns and stands on her knees to fully face her. “Ames, you’re beautiful. Even if you’re a bit of a mess sometimes.” She tucks a strand of hair behind the smaller girl’s ear, keeping her palm against her cheek. “And you’re not fat, you’re pregnant with two babies. Of course, you’re gonna gain weight, it’s completely normal. Besides, me gustan gruesas.”

Amelia leans into her hand, brows furrowed. “You’re not gonna tell me what that means, are you?”

“Nope. I do wanna show you something once you get out, though. Can you finish up on your own or do I need to stay longer?” Lucía asks in a teasing tone, stroking her thumb across her cheek.

Deciding to try her luck, since the taller girl was already being so sweet and attentive, she asks. “Will you wash my hair?”

“Yeah, sure. Why not?”

Amelia sits up and scoots closer to Lucía, a big smile on her face. The human tells her to lean back and uses a plastic cup to wet her hair, before massaging shampoo into the lilac strands. The witch purrs the entire time, leaning more and more into the touch. So much so that Lucía has to push her up a few times before she falls into the water from how far she’s leaning, or making sure she isn’t dripping water onto the floor while leaning towards her.

After a few minutes, the taller girl has her lean back again to wash the suds out. “Eyes close, ears down.” Amelia follows her instructions, letting her pour more water on her head, being careful not to get any on her face.

That done, the witch quickly finishes washing up on her own and lets the bath drain as she dries herself off. She puts on the underwear and socks that were left for her and leaves the towel around her shoulders to let her hair dry a bit more.

Lucía comes back with a hairbrush and hairbands, telling her to stand in front of her, while she sits on the little stool in the bathroom. She dries her hair more, brushing it thoroughly and putting it into two braids. “Now, it’ll be all nice and wavy tomorrow.” She tells her as she stands up and puts the brush and towel away.

Amelia blushes, now left without anything to cover her chest, but the other doesn’t seem to be bothered by it anymore.

The human moves the stool closer to the sink and holds her hand out to the smaller girl. “Come stand up here, querida.” She takes her hands, to make sure she doesn’t fall as she steps up on the stool. They stand eye-to-eye for a moment, before Lucía gently guides her to turn around to face the mirror. She stands behind the witch, holding her by the shoulders.

The lilac-haired girl frowns at her reflection and turns her head away. “This is stupid. What are we even doing?”

“I want to show you.” Lucía takes her chin softly and turns her face back to the mirror, leaning her head over her shoulder. “How beautiful you are.” She whispers right next to her ear, sending a shiver up the small girl’s spine.

The human slides her hand down her arms and takes her hands in hers. She gently pulls them away from her side and up, giving her knuckles a kiss. Lucía looks into Amelia’s eyes through the mirror. “If you feel uncomfortable at any time, we can stop. Just say the word.”

The smaller girl nods, her cheeks tinted a light pink.

Lucía smiles and turns her attention back to her hands, stroking the knuckles and intertwining their fingers. “I love how small your hands are, compared to mine. They're so delicate and soft, but also strong. I have never seen anyone handle fire like you.” She turns her hands over, this way and that, wanting to make the witch see what she does.

“Your arms, slender. Some muscle, but mostly soft.” She gives a gentle squeeze to her biceps.

The human runs her fingers over her skin, from her shoulders, back to her hands again. “Your skin is so smooth, like velvet, and your freckles form constellations all over your body.”

The witch shivers again as another kiss is placed on her shoulder.

Lucía puts her hands on both sides of Amelia’s belly, looking down with wonder. “It doesn’t matter to me if your body’s changing. You’re carrying our babies. It’s natural and it’s beautiful.”

She slowly moves lower, crouching slightly, as she watches for any indication the other might be uncomfortable. She stops at her thighs, giving them a little squish. “You know how hot thick thighs are, Ames?”

“Even with stretch marks?” The witch speaks up.

The human rises back up and puts her hands on the witch’s hips. She looks her in the eye through the mirror, as she strokes her thumbs over her pale skin. “Stretch marks kinda come with the territory, so, yes. Still hot.”

Lucía smirks and gives a light slap to her hip. “You also have a great ass.”

Amelia’s ears perk up, and her face floods with red. “Noceda!”

The taller girl chuckles. “What? I’m just trying to show you how wonderful you look.”

The smaller girl pouts and turns around on the stool.

Lucía’s smile falters. “What? Did I say something wrong?”

Amelia shakes her head and wraps her arms around the human’s torso tightly. She rubs her cheek against hers and then buries her face in the crook of her neck.

The Noceda freezes for a moment, before returning the hug. She could even feel a small purr reverberating through her chest that was coming from the small girl. She was doing good, she hadn’t messed up yet. “You are so damn pretty. Your hair is so soft and the lilac makes your amber eyes shine.”

The witch does a little wiggle and giggles. “Okay. I get it. Thank you, Lucía.”

The human nuzzles her and keeps going with the compliments. “You have the cutest little smiles and your laugh. Dear Titan.” She exclaims quietly enough to not hurt the smaller girl’s sensitive ears this close.

Amelia squeaks, hiding her face as her ears twitch happily, now free from her hair. “Stooop.” She groans.

“Why should I? Am I making you flustered?” Lucía teases her.

The smaller whines, doing another wiggle. “Yes. Now please stop.”

Lucía chuckles and gives her one last kiss on the side of her head. “Alright, I’ll stop for now.”

Amelia hums in slight annoyance at the ‘for now’, but refuses to let go of the other girl yet.

“Feeling any better?”

“Mhm.”

The human sighs in relief. “I’m glad.” She feels Amelia shiver against her as her hand runs down her back, and remembers she wasn’t wearing much after her bath. She pulls out of the hug and holds the witch by her upper arms. “You’re cold. Why didn’t you say anything?” Lucía helps her off the stool and grabs the shirt she brought, holding it out the same way she did earlier.

It slips easily over Amelia form, telling her it was probably another one of Lucía’s. The shorts are her own, a stretchy pair that still fit somewhat comfortably. She’d need to talk to the human about another shopping trip here in the Isles.

°~♡~°

Back in their room, the girls fold up all the extra blankets and take them back to the hallway closet. Amelia throws her clothes in the hamper and tidies up the bathroom a bit, while Lucía goes to wash the dishes.

They finish their nightly routines together, but before they go to sleep, the taller suggests they watch a movie. She sets her old phone on her desk chair next to the bed and cuddles the witch from behind. She curls her lanky body around the smaller, her head resting above her’s to see the screen and an arm kept protectively around her belly.

Amelia barely makes it halfway through the movie, before she falls asleep surrounded by the warmth and comfort Lucía exudes. She feels so loved and safe, she doesn’t think there could be anything better. Her purrs quiet down as the warm hand tracing patterns on her stomach and quiet words whispered in a language she doesn’t understand lull her to sleep.

Chapter Text

Lucía wakes up the next morning with Amelia still cuddled close to her chest. Sometime in the night, the small witch had turned towards her, and her hands gripped the taller’s shirt tightly. It would've been really cute, how clingy she was, if the human wasn’t still so worried about what happened yesterday. Seeing Amelia that upset broke her heart, and she really wishes she could somehow help more.

Maybe she shouldn’t go to work today to keep an eye on the witch, but on the other hand, they will need all the money they can get with two babies on the way. Right now, the best way to help the witch was by making sure she didn’t have more things to worry about. She hopes she can buy bassinets for their babies soon, to surprise Amelia. And once they find out their genders they can go buy more clothes, blankets and other things for them together.

But, for now, she will let her sleep a bit longer, until she really needs to get up.

°~♡~°

When Amelia wakes, it’s to the feeling of warmth leaving her. She groans and slowly opens her eyes, seeing Lucía carefully trying to maneuver herself over her and off the bed. They must’ve fallen asleep on the wrong sides of the bed because the taller girl usually sleeps on the outside edge to not disturb her when she has to leave for work. That aside, she grabs the other’s hand and tries to pull her back. “Don’t go yet.” The witch whines.

Lucía chuckles, caressing Amelia’s cheek with the hand she ceased. “I’m just going down to make breakfast right now. You’re welcome to join me, if you want.”

“It’s too early to be up.” She complains, again, trying to get the human to come back.

“Ames, it’s past 8. You get up earlier for school.”

“School is school. Right now is the weekend, and I’m pregnant, which makes me more tired.”

The human leans down to give her a quick peck on the forehead. “You can sleep then. I’ll put your breakfast in the fridge and mark it so no one else touches it.”

“But you’re up already.” The small girl argues, starting to push herself up.

Lucía stops her through. “And you don’t have to be. Sleep cariño.”

“One day, you’re gonna have to tell me what all those words mean.” Amelia grumbles.

The taller girl can feel her cheeks heating up a bit. “They're like nicknames of sorts. That’s all you’re getting from me.” The witch didn’t need to know about her tiny (read: HUGE) crush on her. If she told her she’d been calling her ‘honey, dear and sweetheart’ for months, it’d be game over for her.

“Now stay here, while I cook you breakfast.”

“Okay.” Amelia agrees begrudgingly, closing her eyes again and falling back asleep minutes later. Curled tightly in the warm blankets, cuddling her little white cat plushie and one she got from King for her birthday for comfort. Lucía hadn’t even noticed the tiny things in their bed before now.

°~♡~°

As promised, Lucía leaves Amelia’s food in the fridge with a note on it telling everyone who it was for. After, she checks on her sleeping witch and quickly changes her clothes before heading off for the day. There was a lot of work to be done.

Her first stop is at the Greg's list board in the middle of town. She looks for any jobs that seem easier and quicker, that she can do before heading to Eda’s stall. And after the older witch and King go home for the day, the human will set off on any other jobs that pay good, but might also take longer.

So far, Eda was the only one who knew about Lucía’s bounty hunter side gig, as everyone else would probably call her reckless and stupid for it, and she would’ve likely had kept it that way if it wasn’t for what happened later that day.

The tall girl had gone farther into the Forearm forest than she usually did, armed with her trusty bat and pockets full of glyphs. She had Eda take the snails from this morning back to the house and hide them, so they wouldn’t weigh her down. She was hunting for a creature that strangely resembled a worm on a string, but would puff up like a puffer fish when threatened and cover itself in purple mucous. Along with having deadly venomous spikes, of course.

See, this is exactly why people would call her crazy if they knew. Lucía often went after the more dangerous creatures, as people paid way more for it, but there was also always a higher risk of death or injury.

What would Amelia do if she wasn’t there to support her? They had two babies on the way and if anything happened to her, the witch would be all alone. But that’s exactly why she was doing this. Amelia didn’t have anything, she was disinherited, and she couldn’t work in her condition, which meant it was up to Lucía. And they desperately needed all the money they could get once the twins were born.

So on she went, in the tracks of this strange beast.

It took her another ten minutes to finally spot a trail left by the pseudo worm on a string. She continues to follow it and finds it leading to a small cave. From there, she has to approach slowly and quietly as to not spook the thing, or she would be in big trouble.

Lucía activates a light glyph as she enters, gripping her bat in the other hand. She looks around the cavernous space for other threats that might want to jump out at her, slowly continuing to follow the trail to the end of the cave. Her eyes go wide as the line of mucous keeps going up the wall toward the ceiling.

Well, that’s not good. The human thinks as her gaze lands on the very creature she is hunting, dangling from the roof of the cave.

°~♡~°

Eventually, Lucía managed to trap the worm creature with a bubble spell and transfer it to a more secure container. It was a slippery son of a bitch, and it almost got her with its venomous spikes, but she caught it. Now she just had to take it and her other bounties into town, get her money, and she could go home for the day.

But just as her luck would have it, she notices dark clouds collecting overhead. The tall human isn’t exactly sure how far into the woods she had gotten, but she sure as hell doesn’t have enough time to run back to Bonesborough before the rain hits. And as much as she loves the Human Realm’s rain, boiling rain only brought trouble.

It would be safer to stay put in the cave where she found the slime worm, instead of chancing it and possibly getting burned or injured, she decides, hauling all of her bounties back to the cavern. She sets them down a bit farther in and runs back out to gather as much firewood as she can for the night.

After she has two decent sized piles of fallen branches, she calls Eda. Needing to update her family before the rain disrupts all scroll signal. It rings for a few moments before she hears her mentor’s voice on the other end. “Hey kid. You on your way back yet?”

“Can’t. Have you seen those clouds? I’m not risking third-degree burns, running through boiling rain.”

“Shit, how far are you?”

“Somewhere in the Forearm forest. I found a cave to hide in, so I’m good for now. Gathered some firewood and I have snacks with me.”

“That’s good. What am I gonna tell Blight?”

“Tell her not to worry and that I’m safe. I’ll try to get back as soon as the rain stops. Oh, and if I’m not back by morning, tell Luz to make Amelia breakfast too. If they’re not sure what, then waffles are a safe bet.”

Eda chuckles at that. “Alright kid. I’ll tell them, but you have to promise to make it home by at least tomorrow night. I’m not sure anyone here is equipped to deal with a panicked pregnant girl.”

“Promise. Night Eda.”

“Good night Lucía.”

She hangs up and sets to building a small fire to keep warm. Once it’s up and going, she settles down against the closest wall and digs through her jacket pockets. There she finds two slightly crushed granola bars and a small bag of Hex-mix, she also draws a water glyph to get fresh water from. It’s not much, but it’s enough to keep her going, at least til morning.

As the sun sets and the boiling rain rages overhead, Lucía finds herself with nothing to do. She’s already checked her bounties twice, making sure everyone was secured in their containers, and even calculated how much she would get from all of them. She spends a while drawing on the cave floor, practicing glyphs and doing simple headshots of people she knows.

The human sorta wishes she’d also called Amelia, but now it was too late. She hopes the witch doesn’t worry too much, it wouldn’t be good for her or the babies.

As she lies down, pulling her jacket tighter, she thinks about the smaller girl and how she must feel right now. She had no idea where Lucía was or what she was doing. What would happen if the human suddenly didn’t come home one day? Amelia didn’t have anyone, she’d be all alone.

Lucía shakes the thought out of her head. She will get back to her and everything will be alright. Amelia will never have to be alone again if she can help it.

Chapter Text

When Amelia finally properly wakes up, she finds herself alone like any other weekend morning. She yawns and stretches herself out across the whole bed, accidentally knocking one of her plushies off the bed. The witch reaches out and gently picks the small thing off the floor, giving it a kiss and a silent apology before returning it to her side of the bed.

She stays there for a few more minutes until her bladder forces her to get up and run to the bathroom. Afterward, Amelia gets dressed in a comfy hoodie and tights, leaving the shirt Lucía gave her last night underneath, and goes to the kitchen, Solana and Marshmallow following her. She finds it a little odd that Lucía would just leave her palisman at home, but decides not to dwell on it too much.

As promised, there’s a ready-made breakfast waiting for the small girl in the fridge. Clearly marked and untouched by anyone else. She smiles to herself, taking it out and sitting at the table. Lucía was too good to her. She doesn’t understand what she’s done to deserve such kindness from the human.

The two palismen sit with her while she eats, each getting a few bites of fruit from her. Once she’s finished, she washes her dishing, leaving them to dry, and picks her two companions off the table to take with her back upstairs.

°~♡~°

Amelia spends most of the day just relaxing, either reading or watching the crystal ball. Solana and Marshmallow barely leave her side the whole time. Instead, choosing to cuddle up on her lap or on the bed next to the witch. She even helps Luz make lunch and later dinner for everyone.

When Lucía isn’t home a few hours after dinner, Amelia starts to worry. The human more often than not doesn’t make it to dinner on weekends, but that doesn’t stop her from worrying even a bit.

The witch up in her and Lucía’s room with the palismen when she hears a knock at the door and then Eda’s voice. “Can I come in?”

She puts her book down and sits up on the bed. “Yes, of course.”

The older woman peeks in the door and smiles at how cozy the young witch has made herself. “Just giving you a head up, Lucía’s probably not gonna make it home until morning.”

At that, Amelia looks ready to jump up and go find her herself. “Is she okay? Did something happen?”

Eda chuckles. “She’s fine, just got stuck because of the rain. She said to tell you not to worry and that she was safe.” It’s nice to see Odalia didn’t completely ruin and corrupt all of her children, and they actually care about someone other than themselves.

Talk of rain prompts Amelia to look out the window and sure enough the sky was filled with ominous dark clouds that threatened rain any minute now. She frowns a bit, but nods. “Thank you for letting me know. Though I’ll probably still worry until she’s back home.” The Blight smiles sadly.

“If she says she’s fine, then she’s fine. Lucía’s tougher than she seems.” Eda tries to ease her worry a bit.

Now it’s Amelia’s turn to let out a small laugh. “I know she is. I was the one she used to get into fights with, you know.” She strokes her belly.

The older witch nods. “I’ll leave you to your reading, then. Good night kid.”

“Good night Eda.”

°~♡~°

When Amelia eventually gets ready for bed, she hears another knock at the door, this one softer than Eda’s. She goes to open the door and find King with his bunny plushie standing on the other side.

“Umm, can I stay with you tonight?”

The witch smiles softly at him, he is just a kid after all. “Come on in. I was just about to go to sleep.” She sits on the bed and pats a spot next to her.

The little demon quickly follows her, scrambling up onto the mattress. He curls up on the foot of the bed and a moment later the lights are turned off. Amelia covers him with the edge of the blanket, before lying down herself.

She appreciates his company while Lucía isn’t there. It’s easier to sleep that way.

°~♡~°

When Amelia wakes up, Lucía isn’t there. King is still peacefully snoring away at her feet, his little stuffed bunny cuddled close. By the time she makes it to the kitchen, Luz is already hard at work making everyone breakfast, while their brother types something on his scroll. She offers to help, but the kid tells her to sit down, saying they’re almost finished anyway.

Luz has prepared a big patch of waffles and toppings for everyone, distributing them between the three of them and leaving some waffles for Eda and King for later. The witch thanks them, not expecting the young human to have made her breakfast. But she guesses since Lucía wasn’t there today, Luz took it upon themself to make sure Amelia didn’t go hungry.

After eating and cleaning up, they all head to school. The youngest offers to let the witch fly with them, but she declines and gets on her own staff.

At lunch, Amelia sits with Austin and Wionna like always, and they ask her where Lucía is, to which she has no solid answer. She tells them what Eda had said, that she got stuck in the rain yesterday and hadn’t made it home that night. Also, that she hadn’t contacted any of them besides calling her mentor. The other two share a worried look and check if they have anything from the missing human.

Nothing.

They try to reassure Amelia that Lucía would surely get back soon, or at least contact one of them. The trio finished their lunches in near silence, and the plant and construction witches promise to tell the smaller girl if they hear anything, as does Amelia.

They all go to their separate classes and after the days ends, back home to their families. Only Amelia’s family was one tall human short at the moment.

°~♡~°

Lucía curses all the Gods as she hauled herself over a fallen tree and continued to run as fast as her legs would take her.

She was just on her way back home when a beast jumps out of the forest and charges at her. She has no idea why it chose her as its target or what she did to get its attention, but now she was trying her damn hardest to just get rid of it. Every turn she takes, takes her deeper into the forest and away from Bonesborough and the Owl House, exactly where she doesn’t want to be.

The human ducks under some low-hanging branches, pulling one with her and letting go. She hears the creature behind her roar angrily as it get smacked in the face with countless sharp needles. Still, Lucía doesn’t slow down, and neither does it.

Noticing a large tree ahead, she speeds up as much as she still can, weaving through the trees, before hiding behind it. What she didn’t notice though was a large burrow on the other side, which she promptly trips into as the beast whips past Lucía and her new unprompted hiding place.

She lands at the bottom with a groan, taking a few minutes to catch her breath before pushing herself up. As the adrenaline start to wear off, she feels a throbbing pain in her leg. The beast had swiped at her while she was running, leaving behind three large gashes.

Lucía curses under her breath while searching her pockets for anything to slow the bleeding. Some healing glyphs would come in handing, but it seems she hadn’t taken any with her. Finding nothing useful, she tears off the bottom of her shirt to use as a makeshift bandage. She draws a quick water glyph to clear the dirt out of the wound before wrapping the scrap of fabric around her calf and reinforcing it with a mesh of thin vines snaked around it. It’s not pretty, but it will hold until she can get back home.

As she slowly rises to her feet, she can feel her calf and ankle scream in protest. She probably twisted it on her way down. Lucky her.

Despite this, leaning heavily on her good leg, Lucía hobbles over to the hole she fell in from. It isn’t too high up for someone of her stature, so she can easily peer out and make sure the beast really is gone.

The coast is clear, but just to be on the safe side, Lucía stays in the burrow for another 10 minutes, before attempting to climb out. That takes her almost another 5 minutes with her messed up leg. Once finally outside, she scours the area for anything to use as a walking stick. Her bat wouldn’t be long enough to support her, also... she lost it somewhere along the way.

She’s really going to miss her bat.

°~♡~°

Back home, Amelia is beside herself with worry. Lucía should’ve been back already. Nearly a full day had already gone by since she last contacted Eda.

Solana and Marshmallow both watch from the bed as the small witch paces around the room, muttering to herself. They’re also worried, but there’s really not much anyone can do since they don’t know where Lucía could be.

A sudden noise from downstairs jolt Amelia out of her thoughts, and before they can blink, she’s out of the door and running down the steps.

°~♡~°

Lucía finally crashes through the door, barely keeping her balance as she slams it shut behind her. Hooty lets out an offended “Hey!” to which the human mumbles a barely audible apology.

The commotion brings everyone’s attention to the recent arrival. Most of the house’s inhabitants greet her casually, before one of them goes to grab the first aid kit and some healing potions, as it’s not that odd to see one of their own running in, disheveled and out of breath. But one who hadn’t been in the room is heard quickly making her way downstairs, hoping it’s the person she’s been waiting for.

When Amelia sees the state Lucía’s in, she feels her worry wasn’t unprecedented. The human gives her a casual “Hi, Ames.” before the witch damn near launches herself at her.

The witch’s momentum knocks Lucía off-balance, making her quickly twist them enough so Amelia lands on top of her, instead of the floor. This, however, causes the back of the human’s skull to meet the floor with a loud crack, making her see stars.

After a few second of recovering and a groan later, the smaller girl raises herself to her hands and knees, causing the other’s arms to fall from around her. She rubs her belly in slight discomfort from the fall, before turning her attention to the heap of human underneath her. “Lucía, are you okay? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to knock you over like that.”

The tall girl groans and hisses at the light as she slowly opens her eyes. Realizing what just happened, she asks possibly the stupidest question Amelia can think of. “Are you okay?”

Amelia is flabbergasted by this and furrows her brows at her. “I wasn’t the one that showed up after being gone for a day all bloody and disheveled looking.” Before Lucía can say anything, she adds. “And used your own body to cushion my fall with. I would’ve been fine catching myself.”

The human sits up, making the small girl have to lean back until she was pretty much sitting on her lap. “I couldn’t let my babies get hurt.” She looks at her with genuine worry.

The witch laughs humorlessly. “You stupid human.” Then pulls her into the tightest hug she can manage and dissolves into shakey sobs.

Lucía does her best to comfort her, whispering quietly to her and drawing circles on her lower back with her hand. “Oh, Ames. Ames, come on. I’m okay. You don’t have to cry. I’m home.”

They sit there for a few moments before Eda clears her throat, making both of them turn to her, Luz spreading things out on the coffee table behind them. “As sweet as this is, I really gotta check Lucía’s injuries. So if you two wouldn’t mind...” She makes a motion of separating them with her hands.

Amelia wipes her face and nods in understanding. She stands up and offers a hand to Lucía, to which she says (with as much gentleness as one can to something like this). “Absolutely not. You are pregnant and not allowed to lift anything heavy, and I am very heavy.” After that, she tries to stand up on her own, but her bad leg decides now is the time to give out, and she doesn’t make it very far.

Eda sighs and steps in to help her up and hop to the couch. The small witch awkwardly stands off to the side, not knowing what to do or how she could help.

The older witch helps Lucía out of her favorite green jacket and starts checking her over while directing everyone else. “Luz, go get her a change of clothes. Luca, stay on the phone in case we need to call Cam. Amelia... sit down before you pass out.” She looks at the last being in the room. “King, you keep an eye on her while I fix up Lucía. Okay?”

Amelia sits down as instructed. Eda removes the human’s ruined shirt despite her protests, knowing she wouldn’t always be fully truthful about her injuries and simply wanting to throw the thing away later. She still had her sports bra on, mind you, but she’ll take any chance she has to complain.

The older witch cleans a few scrapes on her arms and face. Luz returns just in time with a clean shirt for her to shimmy into and a pair of sweatpants to later replace her ruined jeans.

Next, Eda moves to her clearly injured leg and gives her a ‘How the hell?’ look. She cuts and gently peels off the mesh of vines and shirt scraps. Parts of it had stuck to the now dried blood, so pulling them off made it bleed again. Given the gashes were on the back of Lucía’s calf, she had her lie on her stomach on the couch to get a better look.

The same couch Amelia was occupying, which meant she either had to move or Lucía would have to lie halfway on her lap. The human decides this for her thought, by folding her arms and resting her upper body across her thighs.

The old witch takes one look at the full extent of the damage and immediately calls for Luca. “Boy, call Cam and tell her to bring her suture kit. This is definitely gonna need stitches.”

Lucía turns to her younger brother and her mentor. “No! You can’t call mom.”

Eda sighs. “Lucía, this is way above my pay grade. Your leg looks like it’s been through a shredder, and I can’t just magically fix that. We need your mother.”

Amelia, who had been silent throughout the whole thing, gently cards her fingers through the human’s hair. “Please Luci.”

The human whines and buries her face in the smaller girl’s thigh, trying to hide her reddening face. “That’s unfair and dirty, and you know that.”

Seeing the opportunity to keep Lucía at bay and let the others help, she keeps going. “I don’t know that. How is it ‘unfair and dirty’?”

She doesn’t need to lift her head to know the smug look Amelia must be wearing right now. “You don’t do nicknames. I know what you’re doing, and frankly it’s working.”

This gives plenty of time for Luca to finish calling and withing the next 10 minutes the Noceda matriarch steps through the portal into the living room. He hadn’t given her many details, so Camila wasn’t sure what type of carnage she’d be stepping into.

What she sees isn’t as bad as she was expecting, but nonetheless worrying. She shakes her head and steps forward to inspect the damaged. “Ay mija, what did you get into this time?”

Lucía lifts her head and scowls. “Oi, this time it wasn’t my fault. I was on my way home when this huge monster just attacked me out of nowhere.” She hisses when Camila starts cleaning out the long scratches. “I’m lucky I found a place to hide until it was gone.” She explains, only slightly bitter her own mother thought so little of her. Which, fair, but she hadn’t gotten into any big fights in a while, if you don’t count the one at Grom. But she didn’t need to know about that one.

Camila shakes her head and gives the barest of warnings and a command to stay still before doing the first stitch. The others, besides Eda, had by now dispersed, seeing as they were no longer needed right now.

Amelia takes one of her hands in hers, the other still running through her hair. The action makes Lucía chuckle and the witch looks down at her confused.

“Nothing. Just...” She gives her hand a light squeeze. It doesn’t really hurt that much, but she appreciates the gesture. “I’ll return the favor in a few months.” She smiles at her.

When the smaller girl doesn’t seem to get it, the human nuzzles her cheek against her belly.

Amelia’s eyes suddenly light up in understanding. “Oh. You want to be there?”

“Of course I do. What kind of parent would I be if I wasn’t there for their births and to support you? You don’t have to do this on your own, remember.”

At a loss for words, all the witch can do is nod and squeeze her hand.

The tan girl ends up with 20 stitches in her calf by the time Camila is done dressing her wounds. She also checks her ankle, which luckily isn’t broken, only sprained. After having her down a healing potion, Eda helps her to her room, as no one else is quite tall enough to support a 6’4 human up the stairs.

Lucía makes Amelia go up before her, so she doesn’t try anything stupid like catching her if she happens to slip. Once she’s sat on the bed, Amelia pushes past the two older women and starts shifting the pillows and blankets around, tucking them behind and around her.

Seeing her daughter is in good hands, Camila excuses herself to go make dinner, dragging Eda with her out of the room. She already made the trip there, so she might as well help out more and spend some time with her kids.

Lucía chuckles lightheartedly at Amelia fussing. “You’re such a mom.” She teases.

The small girl huffs. “Well, I am going to be one, so it’s natural I’d act like it.”

“I know. It’s really cute.” The human catches her eye and smiles softly.

This makes Amelia sputter and blush bright red. “Are you trying to get back at me for calling you a nickname?”

“Maaaybe.” She draws the word out.

The witch stands fully up and turns towards the door, muttering something about food.

“Ames, come on. I’m joking.” She tries.

Amelia stops briefly next to the two palismen who have been watching the whole thing from a dog bed at the foot of their bed. “Girls, keep an eye on her. I’m going to see how dinner is coming along.” She makes sure to talk loud enough for Lucía to hear, softly glaring at her from the corner of her eyes before walking out of the room.

“Amesy...” She calls out, but the other girl is already gone.

°~♡~°

About 20 minutes later, the short girl returns with two steaming bowls of something that smells heavenly to Lucía. She hands one of them to Lucía and sitting down next to her with the other. “Careful, it’s hot.” She warms her.

They eat in relative silence, the only sound in the room the clinking of spoons against bowls.

“You know, you technically call me a nickname all the time.” Lucía suddenly speaks up.

Amelia cocks her head, spoon still hanging from her lips. “Hm?”

“Lucía isn’t my full first name, it’s just easier for people to remember, so I usually use that.” She explains.

The witch nods slightly. “Oh, yes. I’ve noticed your mother and Luz call you something a bit different.”

“My name is Luciana.” The human gives her a sweet smile, like sharing a secret no one else knew about.

Amelia repeats the name in her head and then out loud. “It’s pretty.” She decides.

Not knowing what else to say, she blurts out. “Thank you.” Suddenly feeling shy that anyone would think her name is pretty. It’s just a name, no big deal. She tells herself.

This doesn’t last long, thought, as the smaller girl leans over to place her empty bowl on the nightstand before sitting back and crossing her arms. “This doesn’t get you out of telling me what exactly happened to you out there. And where you go every weekend after Eda comes back.”

Well, shit. Lucía thinks, looking away in shame. She really doesn’t wanna worry Amelia about what she’s been doing, but she can’t just lie to her now. She lets out a deep sigh and puts her bowl down next to hers. “Wasn’t expecting it to.” She rubs the back of her neck, thinking how she should explain it.

“Look, I’m not mad or anything, if that’s what you’re thinking. I’m just worried about you.” Amelia looks down, taking one of her hands between hers.

The taller girl winces. That’s even worse

“You go off somewhere every weekend, and I have no idea where or what you’re doing.” She grips slightly harder, making Lucía look her in the eye. “And no one will tell me a Titan damn thing.”

Double shit. That just makes Lucía feel even more like an ass. Which to be honest, she kind of is for not telling her anything and letting her worry all this time. “I’ve been taking extra jobs to make more money for you and the twins. They’re gonna need a lot of stuff, and I didn’t want you to have to worry about all that.”

Amelia’s brow furrows. “What sort of extra jobs?”

Turning away, Lucía pauses before answering. “Bounty hunting.”

The witch’s face turns from confused to shocked at hearing that. “What?! Lucía, do you know how dangerous that is? What were you thinking?” She asks exasperated.

“I know, I know, but it pays good if you know where to look. And I’m really good at it.”

“It’s still dangerous. You could’ve died.”

“I promise, I’m careful. I haven’t been hurt by any of my bounties... badly.” She says, still avoiding eye contact. “And this wasn’t even a creature I was hunting. It just came at me out of nowhere.” She then gestures to her bandaged leg.

Lucía’s apparent disregard for her own safety only manages to upset Amelia further. “It doesn’t matter. You know how dangerous the Isles are, Lucía. You know better.”

The older girl shrinks into herself more and more. She does know better. “I thought I was doing a good thing. We need the money.” She said in a quiet voice.

The witch’s last bit of patience with her disappears. “And I need you to fucking stay alive! Nothing is worth getting ripped to shreds over.”

“I’m sorry, Amelia.”

“I need you, Luciana. We need you.” She takes the older girl’s hand and places it on her belly.

Her shoulders hike up to her ears, trying to make herself as small as possible. “I’m sorry.” She says again, hiding her face, so the other couldn’t see the tears gather in her eyes.

Amelia rises to her knees on the bed and straddles the taller girl’s lap. She tries to lift her chin, but Lucía keeps turning away from her. “Look at me.” The witch says sharply, and the other does as asked. She cradles her face gently in her palm. “Do you understand how stupid it is to go bounty hunting, especially alone?”

Lucía nods, blinking away tears.

“I want you to find something safer, please. We’ll figure it out, but you have to stay alive for that.” She pleads with her.

The human nods again, a tear rolling down her face. Amelia wipes it away and gives her a kiss on the head. Lucía squeaks and hides her face against the smaller girl’s chest, hugging her around the waist. She blushes from the kiss and realizing where exactly she’d put her face.

Amelia just hugs her back, chuckling. “I’m sorry. You do it all the time when I’m upset. Is it okay?”

Lucía nods, too flustered for words. It’s more than okay. She really loves this girl.

Chapter Text

Lucía and Amelia spend the next day in, while Lucía’s siblings go to school. One, to let the human rest and heal after her ordeal, and two, to calm the witch’s frayed nerves. They decide to sleep in, as they don’t have much to do that day. Amelia also texts their friends that Lucía made it home safe and that they’d be back to school the day after. Wionna then promises to go ask their teachers for any assignments they missed and to bring them over after school.

Once they’re both awake, Amelia spends a big part of the day fussing over Lucía, much to the human’s displeasure. She doesn’t need another mom, she already has two of them.

“Eeeedaaa! Tell Amelia to stop fussing over me.” Lucía calls while sitting in the living room.

The old witch’s only reply is. “You dug your own grave, now lie in it.”

“I never should’ve taught you that phrase!” The human yells after her as she hears her cackling from the kitchen.

Said ‘fussing’ is Amelia trying to change Lucía’s bandages. She knew it had to be done, but she could’ve easily done it herself. It’s not like she hasn’t before. Besides, she didn’t get a chance to shower last night, so she needed to do that before fresh bandages could be applied.

Still, Lucía keeps trying to wiggle away as Amelia unwinds a piece of gauze from her arm. It irritates the witch, and she finally snaps at her. “Stop moving and let me do this, or I swear to Titan I will cry at you again.”

“You’re still mad.” This isn’t a question, Amelia has made that much clear.

The witch grips her arm tight enough to keep it still, but not enough to actually hurt. “Yes, I’m still mad. What you did was beyond reckless and stupid. I’m mad because I care about you, and I don’t want you to die an untimely death, being ripped apart by some creatures you thought you could make money off catching.”

“Aww, you care about me.” Lucía smiles at her teasingly, but it’s only a facade. She still feels extremely shitty about what she did, of course, but hearing Amelia say she actually cares about her makes her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

“Of course I do. I thought I’d made that clear. Now stay still.”

Lucía finally does as asked. She lets her undo all the bandages and check her injuries before sending her upstairs to shower. Thanks to the healing potion, all the smaller scratches and bruises were already almost gone, so the only thing that needed to be redressed was her leg wounds.

While she showers, Amelia gets her some clean clothes and brings the first aid kit to the bathroom, so the human wouldn’t have any way of worming out of letting her bandage it again. Lucía, of course, takes the chance to grumble about the witch seeing her naked, to which she tells her she’s already seen her undressed multiple times, so it’s only fair Amelia sees her too.

The taller blushes and stays quiet after that. When the small girl is done with her work, she leaves her to get dressed again, so they can go on with the rest of their day.

By the time the weekend came around, Lucía was fully healed and determined to make it up to Amelia for making her worry so much. She asked Eda for a day off, and when she told her why, the older witch readily did so before wishing her good luck on her date. Which the human insists it isn’t. Then she just had to plan out what they’d do and actually ask Amelia.

One thing they definitely needed to do was go shopping for clothes. Amelia had taken to just wearing shorts and whatever shirt she stole from Lucía around the house, and as cute as it was, she felt bad that the witch didn’t have anything comfortable of her own.

And maybe later they can go get food together. But not in a date way, just a friend way. That’s what the human kept telling herself.

Lucía peeks in her room, where the little witch is sitting behind her desk writing, and knocks on the door frame. “Hey Ames. Do you have any plans for today?”

The witch turns to face her. “Not really. Why?”

Lucía grins. “Get dressed then, we’re going out.”

“Out to where?” She raises an eyebrow, thinking what she exactly meant by ‘going out’.

“To get you some new clothes. I don’t mind you stealing mine, but you’re going to need something more comfortable that you can actually wear outside the house too as you keep getting bigger.”

Amelia nods. “Oh, right. I’ve been meaning to ask you about that.”

“Then let’s go.” The human claps her hands together and moves to get ready herself. Once she has everything she needs, she waits for the witch to pick out her own outfit, which seems to cause her endless frustration due to her growing size. She eventually just goes with the same pink dress she’s been wearing more and more recently, as it’s stretchy and long enough to still be comfortable.

They both get on Marshmallow and fly off towards town.

°~♡~°

As soon as the two are out of the house, Luz makes a few phone calls. They have big plans, and they’re going to need all the help they can get. They get Eda, Luca, King and Hooty to start work while they lay out the rest of the plans and wait for everyone else to arrive.

°~♡~°

Lucía and Amelia land near the clothes shops and decide to walk around for a while. Neither has ever needed nor knows where they sell maternity clothes, so they simply wander around until they find a few baby stores.

Entering the first store, Amelia has to fight the urge to go straight to the infant clothes section and start picking out stuff for her babies instead. But Lucía is right there to steer her towards the back, where she can already see different dresses and shirts.

To say the witch isn’t impressed would be an understatement. For one, she doesn’t like any of the colors or styles of the clothes in this store, and second, most of them are way too big or meant for less humanoid witches. After getting her to reluctantly try on a few more neutral items, the human lets her pick out something for the twins as well. They leave the first store with one pair of pants, two pairs of tights and some onesies, hats and tiny socks for the babies.

The next store is a lot more to the witch’s liking, with lots of pink and cute outfits to choose from. Amelia has her hands full of things to try on before realizing she might be going a bit overboard. When Lucía asks her if something is wrong, she puts on a smile, shaking her head, and walks to the changing room. Looking at everything, she starts to feel bad that she’s making the human pay for all of this.

She’s never had problems with money, her parents were rich, so she didn’t care how much or what she spent it on, but Lucía earned all of her money with hard work. Work that could’ve gotten her killed. It should all go to the babies, not her. She didn’t deserve it.

After trying everything on, Amelia picks out two shirts and two dresses she likes the most, along with a pretty cardigan, planning to return everything else. When she walks out, Lucía is already waiting for her. She asks her if she found anything she likes, and the witch hands her the few items before turning to take everything else away.

The human stops her though. “You didn’t like anything else?”

She shakes her head and adjusts the pile in her arms. “No, that is enough.”

“Ames…” Lucía’s brow furrows. “Come on, show me what else you found.”

“It’s fine. Those items are enough.”

“If you’re worried about money, I have more than enough.”

Amelia’s ears turn down, and she shakes her head again. “It should go towards the twins. I have enough.”

Lucía sighs and smiles at her sadly. “Cariño, you have literally been living in my shirts and hoodies and a pair of shorts all week. This is a need, not a want.”

The witch mumbles. “I like your shirts.”

The human chuckles. “Okay, but we’re getting you more of your own clothes.”

“But...”

“Don’t try to argue with me, babes. Now gimme a few more of the clothes that you liked. We can get something from every store for the babies too, okay?”

“Okay.” She agrees and shuffles through the pile and gives her a few more things, including pants and skirts. “Better?”

“Much better. Is that all from this store?”

Amelia looks around the store and excitedly points to a wall of tiny pants and shirts, looking at her for approval. When Lucía nods, she puts what she had left in her hands on the ‘put away’ rack and goes straight there.

While Luz waits for the other people to arrive, they go help their family clear out a room near Lucía and Amelia’s bedroom. It’s mostly filled with human junk that Eda has collected over the years but hasn’t yet gotten rid of. They decide to just take it to the basement for now and let the older witch deal with it later.

Amity and her siblings arrive soon after, and they clear out the room pretty fast before sitting down in the living room to let Luz explain what they would all be doing.

The young human starts telling them about their plan to surprise their older sisters with a fully finished nursery. They mention how the two haven’t had much time to get anything yet for their twins, so doing this for them would be a huge help. Everyone agrees it’d be a very sweet gesture and is ready to help out.

Luz already went over the plan with their mothers beforehand and decided they would be the ones getting most of the big furniture and other necessities the teens probably wouldn’t think of. They already found a nice wooden dresser in one of the clutter rooms that just needed to be sanded and varnished again.

Amber, Luca and the Blight twins all got lists of different items they would need to go buy as their assignment. And lastly, as the ones with the most artistic talent, besides Lucía, painting the room would fall on Amity and Luz themself.

With that sorted out, everyone paired up, and the group split up, with half going to Bonesborough and the other to the human realm. The youngest human tells the four going to town to be careful and not run into Lucía and Amelia while they’re out.

On their way to a furniture store, Camila and Eda drop the youngest two off at the hardware store. To start painting, Luz and Amity would first need paint.

Lucía and Amelia weave in and out of different stores for the next few hours, accumulating bag after bag of clothes and other baby items. After that much walking, the witch is getting really tired and hungry. She’s been taking little sitting breaks in the changing rooms, but she’s not gonna be able to walk around for much longer. Her whole body is aching.

The human is way more excited than she was in the beginning, so Amelia feels bad for spoiling her fun, but she needs to rest. She jogs a bit to catch up, grabbing her arm. “Luci, hey Lucía.”

She slows down and looks back at her. “What’s up?”

“Can we stop for today?” She points to the numerous bags. “We definitely have plenty of clothes now, and I’m tired.”

Lucía notices Amelia holding her stomach, her face red and breathing faster than it should be. She feels horrible for not seeing it earlier, the witch isn’t just tired, she’s exhausted. “Of course cariño. You could’ve told me earlier you wanted to stop. Come on, I’ll carry you the rest of the way.” She adjusts the bags to hang from her forearms, ready to scoop the smaller girl up.

Amelia’s face grows ever redder. “Lucía, I’m wearing a dress.” She whisper yells, holding the front of her dress down.

The human quickly looks her attire over and decides it wouldn’t pose any problems. “Just tuck it between your legs. It’ll be fine.”

The witch looks anywhere but her companion, ears drawn down and still blushing.

Lucía sighs and lowers her arms. “If you don’t want me to carry you, then say so. I just thought you’d like a break from walking.”

There’s another pause as Amelia thinks it over before nodding. “Okay. But make sure I’m not gonna flash my, you know, to anyone.”

The tall girl perks up at this. “Of course, don’t worry.” She waits for the other to adjust the bottom of her dress until she’s sure nothing will be showing, then picks her up. “Don’t you usually wear shorts under that?” She asks.

Amelia wraps her arms around her neck, holding on tight. “No. Should I?”

Lucía adjusts her hold on her a bit before starting down the street again. “I mean, probably. Could avoid a lot of awkward situations.”

The witch hums. “That is actually a very good point.”

Their conversation lulls to a stop, the smaller girl resting her head against Lucía’s shoulder and closing her eyes as she walks.

After a while, the human notices some cafés around them and remembers the other idea she had. She gently nudges Amelia with her shoulder, trying to wake her. “Hey, Ames. Do you wanna go eat something?”

In her groggy state, the witch simply mumbles something unintelligible before slowly opening her eyes and looking around. “What?”

“Are you hungry?” Lucía asks again.

“Yes.”

“Where do you wanna stop then?”

Shaking off her sleepiness, Amelia takes a better look around them and chooses a quaint-looking little red brick shop. Lucía chuckles when she reads the name, and she puts the witch down gently. She guesses all the Blights have a similar taste in baked goods.

The two walk into the Redstone Bakery and pick a table next to the window. The human places all their bags down under it and asks Amelia what she should get her while she sits. She takes her wallet and goes to the counter to also pick something out from the display case for herself. After paying, she takes the two plates of pastries to their table before going back for their drinks and a thornberry tart for Amelia.

“Thank you.” The witch smiles at her.

The human sits down across from her, smiling back. “Of course, hermosa.”

“Is that another nickname?”

Lucía smirks. “Perhaps.”

Amelia sighs, shaking her head. “You know, I should just start writing these down and ask Luz.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“And why do you think that?”

“Because you like them.”

“Mhm. Sure, Luci.” The witch takes a long sip from her drink.

Lucía chuckles and takes a bite of one of her griffin egg pastries. They talk and eat for a while before the taller has to excuse herself to go to the bathroom. Amelia just nods and starts on her tart.

Outside, a woman with mint green hair is walking down the street when a flash of lavender in the bakery window catches her eye. At first, she thinks it’s her youngest daughter, who, in a rebellious fit a year ago, dyed her hair that exact same shade. But she’s supposed to be at home studying right now. Upon a closer look, she realizes it’s someone she hasn’t seen in months instead.

Well, she’s already here, she might as well go and say hello to her daughter.

Odalia walks into the little shop and heads straight for the table Amelia is sitting at, eating her tart. She leans on the table, glaring down at her. “You really shouldn’t be shoveling that trash into your mouth, dear. It really isn’t going to do you any good.”

The small girl’s fork stops halfway to her mouth, and she slowly lowers it before looking up to see who was talking to her. She freezes, and her ears pin back against her head. Her hand comes up to cradle her stomach, which doesn’t go unnoticed by the other woman.

Sneering at the sight, the elder Blight continues. “I see you didn’t take my advice. All that wasted potential. You could’ve been one of the greats. Now you’re just some worthless whore.” She says with venom in her voice.

“What advice?” Amelia says under her breath.

“Come on now, I taught you better than to mumble, Amelia.”

“I said, what advice, Odalia?” She says louder this time. “All you said was that I need to get an abortion if I ever want to come back home. Well, I don’t.”

The old witch slams both hands on the table. “Don’t talk back to me!”

Amelia shrinks back in her seat, wrapping her other arm around her belly as well. ‘Lucía, please come back already.’

“I gave you everything! And you just threw it away, and for what? A brat whose parentage you don’t even know?” She continues to rant.

At the commotion, a young guy from another table speaks up. “Hey lady! Leave her alone. She ain’t done nothing.”

Odalia glares at him. “Keep your nose out of other people’s business.”

The worker who was at the counter comes over to the table. “I’m gonna have to ask you to leave if you keep harassing that girl.”

She rolls her eyes and just scoffs before turning back to her daughter. “Oh, no more witty quips, huh? And what about that human I’ve heard you’ve been hanging around with? She’s not here to protect you now, is she? I’m not surprised. Why would anyone want to deal with that?” She gestures to all of her.

Amelia clenches her jaw and presses her ears tight against her head. She doesn’t want to hear this, she doesn’t want to be here anymore. She just wants to go home and relax with Lucía after a long day. But no, Odalia just had to find her here and harass her. The witch tries to tune her out as much as she can.

“I’m serious, lady.” The worker warns her again.

“And I seriously don’t care.”

At that moment, Lucía finally comes back from the bathroom, and upon seeing the old mint-haired woman is immediately filled with rage. She quickly walks over to their table, shouldering past her to stand by Amelia.

Odalia is caught off guard by the shove and is about to yell at whoever it was until she sees Lucía next to the smaller witch. “Human.” She spits the word out. “What do you want?”

The human ignores her though, crouching down to Amelia’s level and gently touching her arm to get her attention. She wants to get her away from Odalia as fast as possible, or Odalia away from her, whichever opportunity comes first.

The small girl looks up in surprise and relaxes significantly. Just the person she wanted to see. She looks at her, pleading with her to do something.

But the older Blight doesn’t take kindly to being ignored. “Hey! I am talking to you.”

Lucía takes Amelia’s hand before standing to her full height. “Leave Odalia.”

The oracle witch crosses her arms with an angry huff. “You don’t have any right to talk to me like that.”

The human’s not going to back down that easily, though. She is going to protect her babies and Amelia, even from something like this. “I do, when you act like an entitled bitch. You disowned Amelia, why would she ever wanna talk to you again?”

“I was trying to make her understand that what she was doing was idiotic.”

“By kicking her out while she’s pregnant!?” Whispers start to rise from the few other patrons.

“What do you care, human? It’s not like it’s your problem.” She stops for a moment, looking down at their intertwined hands and how Amelia’s trying to hide herself behind the taller girl. “You? It was you that knocked her up, wasn’t it?”

Lucía holds her hand out in front of the small girl. “What do you care?” She snarks back. “As far as anyone’s concerned, she’s not your daughter anymore. Or did I get the definition of ‘disowned’ wrong?”

By now everyone has had enough of Odalia’s bitching, and the guy from before and the worker come over ready to help the girls out by escorting her out. But not before hurling more insults at both of them. Once she’s gone, the worker comes back to them and asks if they’re okay.

“Yeah, we’re fine. She’s always like that. Thanks for the help.”

“No problem. Don’t let what she said get to you. People like her only care about themselves.”

The human nods, wrapping her arm around Amelia’s shoulders. “We know. Thanks again.”

The guy goes back to the counter, and Lucía turns her full attention to the smaller witch. “Ames, are you okay?” She asks her, worried about her mental state after that whole encounter. She doesn’t know what other nasty shit she could’ve been spouting before she came back.

Amelia doesn’t look at her, though; she just hugs her around the waist and mumbles into her jacket. “I just wanna go home, please.”

The human returns the hug as best she can in this position and strokes her hair. “Of course, cariño.”

They stay like that for a bit before the witch pulls away, wiping her face. Lucía gathers all their bags and Marshmallow, and they set off back home.

Back at the Owl House Luz and Amity are the first ones to make it back. Cam and Eda dropped them off at the portal with a few items before going back for more, so they could already start working. They start by sanding down the wooden dresser and a rocking chair Camila had found for a good price. The couple works and talks for hours, and when they run out of things to talk about, the human music Luz put on kept the silence from becoming overwhelming.

Eventually, Luca, Amber, Ed and Em also come back, and the younger human directs them to divide and hide the hauls between their own and Luca’s rooms, so nothing would get dirty while they worked on the room itself. Also, so the new parents wouldn’t find it and figure out what they’re doing, ruining the surprise. Some time later, Eda and Camila bring a bunch more furniture and put it all in a storage closet to be assembled once the room is done.

By the time Luz and Amity finish sanding, it’s getting quite late, and they decide to call it a day and head down to where everyone else is sitting around the coffee table. The twins are goofing around with King as the others talk with cups of tea in their hands. When Cam notices the kids, she gets up and offers to make them some while they sit and relax.

Not even five minutes later, the oldest Blight and Noceda siblings come walking in the front door. Amelia enters first and immediately heads for the stairs without even acknowledging the other people in the room. Lucía trails behind her, hands full of shopping bags, and kicks the door closed with her foot. She’s a bit shocked when she sees everyone in the living room and gives them a small, weary smile and wave before following her roommate to the second floor.

The room is silent for a few minutes before Luz speaks up. “Do you think they’re okay?” They say mostly to their girlfriend.

Amity grabs their hand to make sure they don’t rush up there with them. “Give them some space. We don’t know what happened. We can’t just go barging in.” She tells them.

Everyone agrees, although some more reluctantly, that it’s better to leave them be for now.

Up in their room, Amelia kicks her flats off and immediately goes to lay down in their bed. Lucía follows seconds later, putting the bags down next to their dresser and letting Marshmallow unstaff to go off to find Solana. She then sits down on the bed next to the witch, who is curled up on top of the covers, rubbing her stomach. “Are you okay, Ames?”

“Not really.” She replies quietly.

Lucía frowns at her answer. “Do you wanna talk about it?”

Amelia shakes her head.

The human wants to comfort her so bad, if not with words, then maybe physically. “Is it okay if I touch you?”

The witch nods, so Lucía strokes her head slowly and places her other hand on her stomach. “I’m always here if you wanna talk. You know that.” She goes down to give her a cheek kiss just as Amelia is turning her head to reply. Their lips meet for a brief moment before the taller girl realizes what just happened and pulls back. Her whole face goes red as she watches the witch’s do the same.

“I’m sorry.” She says hastily as she sits up so fast and with such momentum that she sends herself backwards off the bed.

“Lucía!” Amelia tries to grab her, but by the time she gets up, it’s too late, and the human is sprawled on the floor on her back. She pushes the kiss to the back of her mind, her thoughts replaced by worry.

The human covers her face with her hands and scrambles backwards as the witch tries to get closer to check on her. “Luci, did you hurt yourself? Please let me see.” She kneels on the floor to be at her level.

The taller girl shakes her head. “I’m fine. I’m sorry, it was an accident.” She quickly picks herself up off the floor and runs out the door, leaving Amelia where she was. She rushes down the stairs, out the back kitchen door, and into the woods near the house.

Chapter Text

Everyone in the living room is confused by Lucía suddenly running by only minutes after coming home. She runs out the back kitchen door and into the woods next to the house. And she doesn’t stop until she reaches a large clearing. She’d been there many times before, so she knew it well.

There’s a small outcrop of rock on one side, half covered in glowing mushrooms, and a steep hill on the other, from where you can see all the way out to the sea. The human heads for the rocks and slides down the side not infested with fungi, sitting at the base with her head in her hands. She probably really fucked up just now.

Okay, fair, she’d wanted to kiss Amelia for a long time, but not like that. She wanted to get one thing right in their relationship, but her idiocy keeps messing everything up.

And now she ran away. She fucking ran away after accidentally kissing her longtime crush, slash baby mama.

Ew, don’t call her that, Lucía. She mentally slaps herself.

What was she thinking? What must Amelia think of her now?

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

°~♡~°

When Lucía dashes out, Amelia is left sitting on the bedroom floor alone. The thoughts of the kiss come rushing back, and she touches her lips with her fingertips. It was just the briefest of kisses, but it still made her feel a flutter in her stomach. And this time, it wasn’t just her babies moving around.

After a few minutes, she picks herself up off the floor and sits down on the bed. She isn’t sure what she should do now. Lucía said it was an accident, but not a mistake. So, did she want to kiss her too? Could she return her feelings? But then why did she run away?

Before Amelia can start to spiral, she feels a sharp jab to her ribs. She rubs the spot and holds her other hand under her stomach, supporting it lightly. “What was that for, crazy baby?” Then a much lighter jab to her other side. “Thank you, sweetie.” She says without much bite behind it.

She’s noticed one of them is always a lot more active and awake. While the other seems to sleep a lot, only offering a few soft kicks every now and again. As opposed to the first one, who loves to jab her in the ribs at odd hours.

She hugs her stomach as best she can, making sure both of her babies get equal amounts of love. “I’ll be okay, my loves. Your mama will be back.” The witch looks out the window at the darkening sky. “She has to come back.”

°~♡~°

Lucía sits there as the sun goes down and late into the evening. The glow of the mushrooms near her grows stronger as the light fades and illuminates almost the entire clearing. She hears her scroll go off a few times while she’s there, so she just turns it off after a while. The human didn’t want to talk to anyone right now.

She stays there for hours, thinking, or more accurately, overthinking, and pacing all around the place. The same thoughts keep circling around in her head over and over again.

What did you do? Why did you run? What about Amelia? How did she feel about this?

Just repeating, nearly driving her insane, until she stops by the spot where the clearing drops off to a steep hill. She looks out at the sea, and suddenly all thoughts drift away. The sound of the waves crashing on shore can be heard from all the way down there, and the moon shimmers off the water in beautiful ripples. A sudden calm overtakes her, and she sits down to take a moment and just look.

Was it really as bad as she was making it out to be? Amelia didn’t seem angry with her, maybe simply surprised. And so far, she has seemed to enjoy the physical affection Lucía has been giving her. She just needed to talk to her about this like adults, which they both were.

Yeah. She would go back, and they would talk about what happened, and everything would be okay again.

Now that she thinks about it, she really should be getting home. She probably worried everyone by storming out. She’s gonna need to apologize to them later, but first, Amelia.

°~♡~°

Amelia is on the verge of falling asleep when she hears the creaking of the stairs and footsteps coming towards her door. They stop right in front of it, as if contemplating their next move, before they keep walking on down the hallway. There’s the sound of a door opening and something being shuffled around, then it softly clicking shut and the steps going past and retreating back down the stairs again. She has no doubt that it was Lucía, but then why didn’t she come in? Maybe she didn’t want to disturb her.

The witch waits a minute, then five, then ten, but it seems the human isn’t coming back up anytime soon. So instead, she gets out of bed and decides to go down herself. She can’t just go to sleep knowing Lucía is sleeping on that worn-out, old piece of junk couch.

As she walks down the dark corridor, she tries to cast a light spell, but the circle keeps fizzling out. Just perfect. Amelia thinks. Now my magic finally gives out. Thanks a lot. She gets a kick to her side and resigns herself to simply walking slowly. She knew the layout of the house well enough by now, and it was a straight shot to the stairs from here. “Sorry loves. It’s not your fault. You’re just trying to grow.” The witch whispers to her belly, stroking it as she looks for the stair railing with her other hand.

Getting a hold of it, Amelia takes one careful step at a time down the stairs. Finally, at the doorway leading to the living room, she stops and looks around. There are a few candles still burning, illuminating the space enough for her to see the sleeping form of the human on the couch. She watches her breathing slowly for a bit before making her way across the room to her.

Lucía is lying on her back with a light blanket over her, one arm over her chest, and the other under her pillow. Amelia lifts the arm on her chest to her side and carefully climbs over her, lying half on top of her between the human and the back of the couch.

The sudden weight on the human’s chest rouses her from her half-sleep, and she’s very surprised at who she sees there.

The witch looks up at her with her big amber eyes before closing her eyes and snuggling into Lucía’s side. She has an arm and a leg thrown over her, trapping her there. It wasn’t the most comfortable position, with how big her belly already was, but she isn’t moving from here unless the taller girl is as well. And by that, she means to their bed, together.

The human, still confused as to why Amelia decided to come and lay down with her, stays frozen in place under her. “What are you doing? You should be in bed.” She whispers to her.

The small girl scoffs at that. “So should you.”

Lucía doesn’t know how to respond to that. She isn’t sure if she’s allowed to put her arms around her or not, so she keeps them where they are. But she does flip the blanket off herself and onto Amelia.

They lay there in silence for a long time, not saying anything to each other. The only sign Lucía has that the witch isn’t asleep is her tracing shapes and letters on her collarbone with her finger. “Why didn’t you come to bed?” She asks quietly.

The human takes a moment before answering. “I didn’t wanna wake you up, in case you were asleep already.”

“It wouldn’t have disturbed me knowing that you’re home and okay. Did you get any of my texts?”

Lucía looks off to the side. “No, I’m sorry. I turned my scroll off.”

Amelia pushes herself up on her elbow to look at her better, using her other hand to guide her face to look at her. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah. I’m okay.” The taller girl gives her a small smile.

“Can we just go to bed now?” “Can we talk about what happened?” They both speak at the same time.

The girls pause for a moment before Lucía pushes them both into a sitting position and speaks first. “Look, Amelia. I’m sorry I ran away and for kissing you without permission. I didn’t know how to react, but what I did wasn’t right. I hope you’re not mad.”

“Why would I be mad at you?”

“Cuz of what I did and how I acted.”

“Lucía, we’ve literally kissed before. We’ve done a lot more than that, too.” The witch chuckles and strokes her belly.

“We were drunk.”

“Doesn’t mean that I didn’t want it.”

Lucía looks at her puzzled. “I still should’ve asked.”

Amelia rises to her knees to be eye level with her. “It was an accident. You couldn’t have predicted it.” She gently cups her face with both hands. “Hey, if you wanna make it up to me, you can ask now.”

The human’s eyes go wide, and she hesitantly brings a hand up to her cheek. “Can I kiss you?”

And the smaller girl smiles at her with so much love. “Yes, Lucía.” She leans forward, gently guiding her head until their lips meet in the middle. The witch holds them there for a few seconds before slowly pulling back to look at the other girl’s awestruck face.

It isn’t long before Lucía pulls her in for another kiss, and another, and another. Her hand moves to wrap around her waist, drawing her closer until she feels the firm swell of her stomach against hers. She loves the feeling of it against her when they hug and wrapping her arms around the bump when they cuddle. But right now she’s more focused on the gentle touch of Amelia’s lips against hers.

The witch curls her arms around the human’s neck in return, one hand tangling itself in her long hair to deepen the kiss and keep her there. She never wants to let her go, but soon air start to become a problem, and she’s forced to part from her to catch her breath.

The girls both take deep breaths as Lucía takes in the sight of the girl straddling her lap. She doesn’t know when she got there, but she’s definitely not complaining. Amelia looks ethereal, the moonlight coming in from the window bathing her in its pale blue light. Her amber eyes glow ever so slightly in the dark as she looks deep into them. And she doesn’t think she could fall more in love with her. She gives her another small kiss before pulling her into a tight hug.

Amelia reciprocates the hug, chuckling a bit as she buries her face in the human’s shoulder. She closes her eyes and relaxes into the embrace until she feels the other girl lightly shake against her and sniffle. “Luci? Luci what’s wrong?” She asks, slightly worried.

Lucía just shakes her head and holds on tighter. Wet spots seeped through Amelia’s shirt.

The witch kisses the side of her head. “Come on, talk to me. Please.”

The tall girl mumbles something unintelligible into her shoulder.

“What was that?”

The human pulls back to look her in the eye. “I like you so much, Amelia.”

The small girl smiles, caressing her cheek and wiping away a tear with her thumb. “I like you too, Luciana.”

Lucía shakes her head. “I mean romantically.”

“Like I said.” She gives her a quick kiss on the lips. “Me too.”

Happy tears spill down her face as she tucks a lock of hair behind Amelia’s long, pointed ear. Lucía loves her ears, but honestly, what /isn’t/ there to love about her?

The witch smiles and gently wipes her tears away before getting pulled into another tight hug. The moment doesn’t last long, though, as she feels a sharp kick at the front of her stomach, then another one next to it. She chuckles as the other girl pulls away, surprised. It seems she felt it too. “Someone else wants your attention too. Or two someones more correctly.”

“I felt that.” The human looks down at her belly, then back up at her. “I felt them kick against me.” She says, voice full of wonder.

Amelia raises an eyebrow and smirks. “Yeah? You wanna feel it again?” She takes her hands from around her and places them where she feels the most movement at the moment. “They were quiet for a while, but it looks like they really want to make their presence known right now.”

Lucía keeps her hands still, feeling the little pushes against her palms. New tears well up in her eyes, and she lays her head on the small girl’s shoulder, chuckling wetly.

The witch wraps her arms around her as best she can from this position, rubbing her shoulders. “You okay?”

She nods. “Yeah, I’m awesome.” She rubs her belly with her thumbs, still keeping her hands where they are. “This is amazing. I love them so much already.”

“Me too.” Amelia whispers.

They sit there for a while until Lucía feels their babies start to settle down, probably going to sleep. The smaller girl’s head rests against hers, and her grip on the back of her shirt keeps faltering. The human moves her arms around her and gives her a kiss on the side of her head. Amelia makes a little ‘mrrp’ sound and tries to snuggle deeper into her embrace. It’s definitely time to get her to bed now. “Come on, baby. Up we go.”

Since the witch is sitting on her lap, she shuffles around until she gets her feet on the ground. She moves Amelia’s arms over her shoulders, and she instinctively tightens her hold around her neck. Lucía untangles the blanket from them and hoists her up by her thighs as she stands up from the couch. It’s a rather inconvenient position with her big belly, but it’s faster than trying to wake her enough to walk up the stairs herself or trying to shuffle her into a different position.

She leaves the blanket and pillow on the couch as she carries the beautiful, sleepy girl up to their room. She pushes the door open with her shoulder and gently lays Amelia down on the bed. But as she moves to get back up, the witch refuses to let her go. She whines loudly and hangs off Lucía as she braces her hands on the bed so as not to accidentally crush her.

“Don’t go.” She whimpers, barely awake.

The tall girl lowers herself onto her elbows and kisses her on the forehead. “I’m not going anywhere, Ames. Just give me a sec, so I can get the blanket over us.”

It takes a moment for Amelia’s tired brain to register what is being said, but she slowly lets go and rolls onto her side, facing her. Lucía tugs the blanket out from under her legs and lays it over her before getting under it as well.

The smaller immediately snuggles into her chest, tucking her head under her chin and draping an arm over her waist. The human holds her close and kisses the top of her head. “Good night, cariño.”

“Mmm. Whas that one mean?” Amelia mumbles, barely audible to the other girl.

She chuckles. “You won’t let that go, will you?”

“No. You’re my girlfriend. Now you gotta tell me.”

Lucía’s eyes go wide at the word ‘girlfriend’. Neither of them had asked the other yet to make anything official.

The witch seems to realize the same thing because, suddenly, she’s fully awake and pushing herself away to look her in the eyes. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to assume. We didn’t even discuss that.”

Before Amelia can spiral into a panic, the older girl tenderly takes her face in her hands and smiles. “Ames, it’s okay. We can talk about it now if you’d like.”

The smaller nods, she wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep anyway if they didn’t. Neither of them say anything for a minute or two. The smaller fiddles with the edge of the blanket, thinking of how she should start, before Lucía speaks up first.

“So, do you... want to be girlfriends, then?” She asks uncharacteristically shyly.

Amelia grins and taps her feet against the bed. It’s the most she can stim in this position if she doesn’t want to accidentally smack the human. “Yes!” She says a bit too loudly. Then giggling, a little quieter. “Yes. I would love to be your girlfriend.”

Lucía smiles back just as wide and pulls her into a hug, giving her a kiss on her head. “Awesome.”

The smaller girl rubs her forehead against her chest and, giggling, repeats. “Girlfriends.”

“Well, aren’t you giddy about it? Yes, you’re my girlfriend now.” Saying it out loud like that does make her feel all warm and fuzzy inside as well.

“And you’re mine.”

Silence falls on the room as the two girls embrace, coming down from the giddy high of a new relationship. They slowly drift to sleep, knowing this is exactly where they belong. Together.

Notes:

I already have ideas for the next 2 chapters, but I also recently got a job, so don't expect any updates soon.

Btw the "Doesn't mean I didn't want it." line can be interoperated in 2 ways, I'll leave it up to you, which way you wanna see it.
