Summary
Cold fingers, harsh but grounding, dragged Dazai back to this harrowing reality. His dazed smile left his face as he obediently trotted after Mori (a stone cold man that saves lives and kills more- what irony).
And Life? What made humans so attached to that ugly concept? Filled with sneers and backstabbing and the rotten stench of cruelty.
But that jarring moment, the flicker of vulnerable light-headedness as black stars blinked- that single moment when Dazai brushed with Death, he thought that it was beautiful. A blissful ignorance, and an eternal one.
'Life was warm; Death was cold.'
In some part, it was correct. Death was like a soothing cool balm to his soul (that'd been burnt from the fires of this hell named 'Life').
(Death smiled, and Life didn't.)
Mori's icy fingers tightened around his wrist (like a handcuff), and without looking down, he told him: "You're drifting again, Dazai-kun."
(or, Dazai lives.)
(And that's painful enough.)
