"9-1-1 what's your emergency?"
"My cat is stuck on a tree and I don't know how to get her down, please help her." She was anxious they wouldn't send help for a cat, but fortunately for her and her baby, she was wrong.
"Okay ma'am, help is on its way." The lady sighed in relief, knowing they would help her cat down.
The 118th arrived at the scene and Bobby decided to send Buck up, saying, "Buck, it's your turn on cat duty."
They had decided long ago to take turns on who had to rescue cats on trees.
"Oh come on man." He said, not wanting to get scratches all over himself. Cats were usually frightened when they couldn't get down from trees alone and had to be carried down.
He got on the ladder and walked up, dispite it not even being his turn. "Hello little cat." He says in that little voice that you use for animals and babies.
"Her name is Spicy." Said the owner from where she was watching the scene from her garden on the other side of the road.
He nodded to himself and said, "Hello then Spicy, come here girl."
The cat jumped on him and they almost fell, but Buck managed to pick her up before it was too late.
He claimed down the ladder and crossed the street to give the cat to the lady.
Hen was looking at his hands, so he said, "What's so strange about my hands that you have to stare at them?"
As soon as he said that, he looked down and saw that they were full of cuts, some deep, some superficial, but still a lot of them.
Hen continued staring, saying, "Honey, can't you feel those?"
"Now that you say so..."
They headed for the ambulance and Hen started sanitazing his hands.
"Fuck, shit, that hurts." He hissed as the sanitizer touched his wounds.
"I know Buckaroo, but we don't want your hands to be cut open caused by an unwanted infection, do we?" Hen said half jokingly.
"Yeah, yeah, okay." He knew she was right, and let her continue until she covered his hands in gauzes.
"There you go." She patted his shoulder. "Thanks, Hen."
"I was literally doing my job." She chuckled.
He smiled at her and she couldn't help but smile back.
Now he had bandages covering up his hands, luckily the shift was almost over so he wouldn't have to use his hands and hurt them more than he already did.
Tonight it was movie night with the Diaz boys, that's why him and Eddie had come to work together so they could go to Eddie's house togheter too.
On the ride home they laughed about how Buck swore for some sanitizer and Eddie specifically told him not to swear in Christopher's presence.
Eddie opened the door and they saw Chris doing homework, with Carla helping him.
"Hi, buddy." Buck said as soon as he was in Chris' field of vision.
"Buck!" He exclaimed as he saw him. Chris ran towards him and Buck picked him up. He regretted it as soon as he did though.
His hands started bleeding but, since he didn't want to scare Chris, he kept him in his arms without saying anything. Eddie seemed to notice, because he said, "Chris, you should finish your homework, so we can watch TV when you're done."
When Chris was out of sight Eddie said, "Take those bandages off."
Buck didn't try to fight him, saying "Alright." and doing what Eddie said.
Eddie took the sanitizer and Buck said, "You don't have to do it, I can do it myself."
Eddie was having none of that. "Shut up and let me help you."
He did let him, but not long enough, because he felt his hands starting to burn as soon as the sanitizer touched them.
"Shi-" He couldn't even finish the word, because Eddie's lips were obstructing the passage. Wait, was Eddie kissing him?
Eddie was kissing him! He couldn't believe it. He wanted it for so long and all it took was this?
Okay, he knew that he was probably doing it just to shut him up, but he couldn't help but enjoy it while it lasted.
He wanted this to last forever but now their lips were breaking up and he didn't know what to say. He never expected Eddie to kiss him, not in a million years.
"Buck I- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kiss you, I just didn't want you to swe-"
Now it was him that was shutting Eddie up by kissing him, and it was Eddie's turn of being shocked by the action.
This time it wasn't chaste, it started that way but then, they started to add tongues and teeth (although they cohld have gone without those), seeming like two teenagers making out trying not to get caught by the teacher.
It was sweet and hot at the same time and they couldn't stop it, but they remembered that they weren't alone in the house so, when the second kiss finally broke, they looked at each other smiling from ear to ear.
"So..."
They both turned around and saw Carla and Chris standing beside them and staring at them. They were smiling too because they knew how much they loved each other and they were shocked they took so much time to get there.
The next day they gave the news to the team, they were all shocked and happy at the same time, just like the night before Carla and Chris were.
