Chapter Text
It's in the hours of late darkness that Megumi surfaces to the top, near the shore but far enough to be barely visible, specially in the darkness. The cool breeze brushes against the chilled, pale skin of his plush cheeks, most definitely tinting it a soft red.
Mermaids have always had soft, precious, and sensitive skin. It’s been because of the ocean’s water, which constantly hydrates their skin, to the contrast of the harsh, bitter cold dry air of the surface. It doesn’t match the usual warm, hydrated feeling Megumi’s used to when being within the waters. It’ll takes time to accustom to the cold wind and air drying out his flesh.
It's not that late anymore, Megumi figures, in fact the sun's began to rise, filling the ends of the sky towards the vastness of the ocean a pretty purple, blue, orange, red, yellow--all the colors that create a sunrise. Too bad Megumi has this heavy weight pushing against his chest, causing him to be unable to move as fluent as he normally would.
He has the larger male pressed against him, the limp, unmoving body’s head on his left shoulder, facing towards his neck. The white fluffs of hair tickle at his neck and jaw. Megumi feels the soft nose of the human pressed into his unblemished skin, along with soft sleeping breathes.
The black haired mermaid trudges along closer to the shore, dragging the larger and heavier body with him. Why did he decide to do this? Be valiant and rescue a drowning human?
He could’ve been sleeping by now, or better yet, getting back to a very soon starting, important court meeting.
The more he complains in his head the closer to shore he gets until the wet, paper thin fins of his tail touch the grains of sand.
This is the hardest part. Pulling this unconscious body along with him up the beach, and hosting it out of the water. With a simple grumpy frown like pout, the Human is placed down gently, as to not rattle or break anything important to the human’s organs.
He supports the humans head by cradling his neck. Pointer finger, firm and straight to support the base of his skull, while the rest of the fingers wrap gently around his neck as he settles him down, laying the human’s torso down along with it. Everything else apart of his body laying down with it.
He’s hauled himself further along up the beach, to a point where he isn’t completely out of the water but where his long tail fin can feel the brush of ocean waves against it along with the slight trickling of droplets higher up the dark jade scales.
Just in case if he needed to make a quick escape. Humans and Mermaids never really got along that well after all.
The gentle splashes of water push up against the limp feet of the human’s black boots. As his head lays slightly to the side, away from the mermaid, which exposes the strong, gentle jawline of the handsome male Megumi saved.
The Mermaid would be lying if he wasn’t the least bit interested. He hasn’t ever approached a Human this close before. Even though it seemed wrong, now would be a good time to examine one of them up close.
He lowers deep sooty eye lashes framing the Mermaid’s exquisite jade eyes, and looks down with a simple unfazed but transfixed expression.
The taller white haired male has a blue tint to it that makes it looks pure, and oh so pretty when it’s wet and sticking on slightly to the human’s bare, unblemished neck. The top parts of it is dry from being out of water and laying on Megumi’s shoulders on the way here, while some of it remains wet from the splashes and water turbulence.
Megumi pulls himself closer to the body, and onto the sand, his wet skin and scales pushing against the grains, definitely sticking onto his skin with the wetness he accumulated by being in the water.
The glittering green eyed male, gently drapes himself over the Human’s chest, reaching over with his elbow support onto the ground to adjust the human’s head. Gently fixing his neck along with it to get a full glance of his face.
The black haired Mermaid is in slight awe. He’s never seen a human this pretty, nor one this up close.
The right part of his pure white hair sticks to his face, probably from laying on Megumi’s shoulder with caresses from the waves wetting that side of his hair. His nose, perfectly proportioned, thin and sloped gently. The tip of his cheeks are red from the cold, slightly shiny due to the rising sun from behind them. His lips plump, skin slightly cracked but firm and delicate.
The transfixed Mermaid stays silent as he places the weight of his chest more into the Human’s, not too much to wake him, but just enough to support himself. Megumi using his hand to grace and cradle the right side of the Human’s cheek gently. His thumb moves to brush the strands of his hair out of his eyes.
Speaking of his hair, it’s incredibly soft. Even when wet which when Megumi’s incredibly soft hair would eventually tangle and he’d need to comb it out. This human’s hair is soft, precious and thin. Addicting to the touch.
The human seems to be in perfectly good condition besides for the fact that he almost drowned if it weren’t for Megumi.
One last thing to check before the sun rises any higher, or if the Human wakes up.
Megumi pushes himself pack slightly, palms on the white haired male’s sturdy chest and gently pushing himself back until his head is hovering directly over where his heart would be through the white collared, button up shirt.
With a slow inhale, Megumi places his ear to the area of on the chest, and listens.
There’s a soft, soothing thump. That begins quietly, barely there and then resounds louder into Megumi’s ear as he focuses in on the sound. The thumping starts to sound normal once Megumi’s had a longer listen, the slow and steady rhythm not blocked or stunted.
The jade eyed male decides its best to go now. Though the heartbeat of this human is soothing to listen to, and feels like something he’d like to lay asleep to, he would much prefer not to wake up atop a Human.
The longer he stays here the more danger he’s prone to.
When Megumi lifts his head up by pushing his palms into the sand, he’s met with the sight of crystalline icy irises. Glittery, and shimmering in the dim rising sun. They’re white, almost, with shades of blue, like how the ocean looks from below within the water when the light filters through.
Oh fuck.
The Human is awake. Megumi panics, retreating back, as far as he can with his clumsy tail on land and strength of his torso.
Upon further realization, Megumi sees that the pupils aren’t in focus, they’re dilated, looking hazy and unthinking. His brain must be still in the process of recouping.
This is his sign to leave.
And so he does.
With the thought of pretty eyes in the forefront of his mind as the sand washes off of him when he vaults right into the water, speeding off into the deep.
