Work Text:
Charlie is grateful for Condi’s crazy plans.
He’s always been inventive, and Charlie knew he never appreciated that enough. But he is now, and he’s glad that Condi came up with something to help their solution.
It’s been nearly a month since Condi told Grizzly he was gonna bring him back, and then informed Charlie that he was gonna bring Grizz back as well.
And with that information, Charlie found himself coming to the Nether every few days to help Condi build this device to bring him back. It’s been hard work, especially in the boiling Nether (which Condi’s been built to handle the temperatures; Charlie, not so much), but they are managing to work okay.
It seems like Condi’s had this planned out for months now, based on how prepared he already is, with materials, tools and blueprints at the ready. It’s a big help, to know they don’t have to spend extra time gathering things to create the device.
Charlie knew that Condi was slightly surprised when Charlie demanded that he helped, but this was important. It was time that Charlie helped bring back his brother, for his sake and for Bizly and Condi’s as well.
He needs to allow Grizzly to breathe again, to feel again and to be human again. He deserves that much, after all the pain he put him through.
He just needs to be patient. With Condi’s brilliant mind, they can do this.
---
Bizly is dumbfounded.
Grizzly, coming back? The idea sounded almost impossible in his head, but he wanted to believe it.
To double check that this was, well, possible, Bizly found himself also visiting the Nether and managing to converse with his brothers. He even has helped out a few times when two people weren’t quite enough to handle certain bits and pieces.
And the simple action of assisting with Condi’s goal made him hopeful. He knows his brother, and when Condi sets his mind to something, he won’t stop until he gets there.
And he’s...grateful, at least, he thinks so, to Charlie. For being so determined to help with this device, and for trying to remedy his mistakes. It makes him happy, to know that things are turning up.
There’s certain moments when he’s sitting alone with Beewee where he doubts it, but he knows that he has to stop being so negative.
“Hey, Beewee. You’re gonna get to meet Grizzly soon.” He scratches Beewee’s ear and smiles, petting his soft fur while thinking about the fact that, as months past, they are nearly there.
He’ll help out more, for Grizzly. And they’ll get there.
Bizly can’t wait to see Grizzly again.
---
Condi is exhausted. Exhausted, but somehow still constantly full of energy.
Gods don’t tire out as quickly as mortals, he knows. So it’s not like him getting less sleep is a problem, it’s more of a recommendation.
But there’s no time for sleep, not when he’s busy working. After all, there will be time to rest later, when Grizzly is alive.
There’s a few moments where Charlie has to tap him awake or splash water at him, even though it evaporates right away in the Nether (so it doesn’t work that well when only a few droplets of water are hitting Condi). Charlie always asks if he’s okay, and Condi always answers the same.
Condi is better than okay. For one, he’s finally executing the plan he’s had in mind for months. Ever since Grizzly died, he’s been figuring out a way to bring him back. He always thought quickly.
Andnow, after trial and error, here he is. Allowing months to pass as him and his brothers work towards their goal.
They’re so god damn close.
---
Grizzly is mildly confused.
For the past half year, he’s simply watched his brothers coming in and out of the Nether, getting more exhausted upon each day. Every day, it takes Grizzly a few moments to remember what they’re doing..
They’re working so hard, preparing all of these things for him. Because they want him back. And Grizzly has decided that he wants to be back too. All he’s doing is waiting.
And on one fateful, winter day, when the snow falls against the grass, and clouds plague the sky, he sees Condi, Bizly, and Charlie walk up to his ghost. They all have goggles on, and based on their looks, instead of just Condi being able to see Grizzly, he can tell that Bizly and Charlie can as well.
“You won’t be able to hear him, but not for long.” Condi smiles, placing down this box and tinkering with a few more things, pressing some buttons and then flipping some switches.
Grizzly waves as his brothers, and Bizly and Charlie with tears in their eyes waved back. They simply stared at their brother while Condi continued to tinker with this box until, finally…
“I GOT IT! Alright, everyone, stand back.” Condi flips one more switch, and then runs back with Charlie and Bizly. Suddenly, a bright white beam hits Grizzly, and he feels something jolt through him. It feels like little shocks going through his body.
And as he blinds a few time, he feels his body come back to him, oxygen back into his lungs, words back in his throat, and snow against his skin.
But something didn’t feel right. Where his heart was, there was always this powerful, electrifying beat, thumping steadily along with his heart. But now, all he feels is his heart beat.
Then, he remembers. The electrifying beat he felt was only something gods felt. The gems in their heart that gave them their powers, that’s what was missing.
So he was mortal. But that didn’t matter.
He feels Condi, Bizly and Charlie wrap their arms around him, and he hugs them back, holding them close.
There were many words they wanted to say, updates and apologies for unfair actions they committed against each other but there was time for that later.
For now, Grizzly just wanted to sit here with his brothers.
An unexpected bark is heard, and Bizly lets go of the hug for a moment, to lift up this dog. “As your first introduction from the grave, meet Beewee.” And Grizzly froze, for a second.
“Will this one die right away like the others?” He frowns, and Bizly shakes his head.
“No, I made sure to get rid of that while you were gone. I feel awful for letting that happen in the first place, but Beewee is gonna stay as long as he wants to.” Beewee leans over and licks Grizzly’s face, which turns Grizz’s frown into a smile.
“I’m glad you changed it. Now, c’mon! Show me what I’ve missed!”
And they all hug again, before heading out into the snow to head to Charlie’s cabin, and then...who knows?
All that matters is that they’re together. And nothing will split them apart.
The bond of family is as strong as bedrock. Never broken.
And they all know that they’re family first, gods second.
They won’t forget that.
