“Okay Vee, remember what we talked about.”
Luz sat on her top bunk, their head hanging over the railing staring down at the demon on the bottom bunk. The same demon who was agonizing over a simple question.
“It’s not a simple question, Luz.”
Luz was sure basilisk could read minds, because this isn’t the first time it’s happened.
“Just walk up to her and be yourself. She already likes you.” Luz pulled her head up and hopped down from her top bunk with a grunt after her feet hit the ground. They motioned for Vee to scoot over as she took a seat beside her.
Vee began to toy with the Hexas Hold Em cards that were in her hand.
“But what if it’s not like THAT?” She asked Luz, “How did you ask Amity out?”
Luz shrugged and put on a smug grin, “With my charms of course.” Her signature smile that somehow managed to shape her mouth into a W found its way onto her face.
But it was replaced because once again, she was sure witches and demons had more advanced senses than humans. “No they didn’t! I asked her out first!”
Luz felt her face burn as they took notice of Vee giggling at Luz’s girlfriend calling them out. “I was ready!” She shouted back as she attempted to fight her blush.
Amity was currently downstairs putting away dishes and helping Camila with lunch. “Isn’t it wrong that you’re listening in on them?”
Amity turned towards Camila who was cooking meat for a dish. Amity stopped putting away the dishes to speak her part, “I thought you wanted in on the chisme.”
Camila glanced at the stairs, then back to Amity. “Don’t mention this to them.”
Amity zipped her mouth and continued back to her dishes.
Meanwhile, Vee was still on the fence. “So, worst case scenario?”
“She rejects you, you and her never speak again, and you live out the rest of your days in Antarctica.” Luz said nonchalantly, shrugging her shoulders.
Vee gave her a questionable look, “Why Antarctica?”
Luz smiled and shrugged, “Everyone loves penguins.”
Vee sighed, putting her cards off to the side as she pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. “Best case scenario?”
Luz smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder, causing the demon to look up at them. “You have an awesome girlfriend who likes you, for you.”
Vee smiled at them, feeling an immense amount of happiness. Something she never thought she could achieve. But here she was, on Earth with a girl she was head over heels for and a family who loved her. Before Vee could say anything, she engulfed Luz in a hug.
Luz looked at her, a bit of wind knocked out of her, but quickly returned the gesture.
“You know who else is an awesome girlfriend?”
Luz pulled away from her adoptive sister and shouted downstairs, “Would you stop that!” But of course, not without letting her girlfriend know, “And it’s you.” Luz said, another blush finding it’s way onto her cheeks.
Amity fist pumped the air.
