Chapter Text
—————
Well. That’s one Friday night activity I wasn’t expecting.
Alexi was really just trying to have a peaceful midnight walk. No feeding, fighting or flirting for his old ass. Just trying to have a nice, relaxing walk to get used to the new place he’s settled at. The greenery was few and far between in cities like this, and it was nice to find a small forest up north connected to the main roads.
And it was going just fine, up until he got to this secluded little bridge. Now in secluded places, Alexi has learned, happens the weirdest fucking shit. Sex, drugs, poor souls getting eaten by his kind, the occasional mugging, it’s usually pretty boring. But sometimes, some-fucking-times, shit like this he sees.
A male figure, late-20s-to-early-30s judging by the smell of their blood, is dismembering a body and throwing the parts into the river.
Huh. He looks relaxed, confident almost, just hacking up his victim’s body—must not be the guy’s first time. Good for him , Alexi thinks for not being caught yet. He wonders if this man’s murders have been reported on the news or if he’s managed to thwart the police from his crimes. It’s harder these days considering how far human technology has advanced. It’ll only take you one little mishap to fuck up and get thrown behind bars.
Eh, none of my fucking business. Alexi walks along the bridge, glancing occasionally at the killer down the river. And because Alexi’s life is never boring (he would’ve gone into the sun if it was), Serial Killer Dude looks up.
And what does Alexi do? He waves. Like a fucking idiot.
Now the dude’s shocked face is one he’ll probably add to his semi-important memory collection, because for one, this human is actually pretty cute, and two, it’s also fucking hilarious.
“Do stop gaping like a goldfish out of water, it’s unbecoming.”
The human looks startled only for a moment more, and Alexi has to actually snort because the poor thing looks so lost. A second later, he smells the bloodlust radiating off the guy. Definitely a predator, this one.
“Are you gonna report this?” The man asks robotically.
“Nope. Good luck with your body dumping, though.”
“And I should simply let you go, why?”
“Because I’m up here and you can’t catch up to me even if I run. Not to mention, you still got like..” He takes a better look. “Three-fifths of that body left to chop up, shame to not finish your work, eh?”
The man doesn’t answer, only stares back at him incredulously. Alexi doesn’t bother waiting for a response, he shrugs, waves, and wishes the dude a goodnight. And adds in a wink just for good measure.
Alexi shifts, an owl tonight, and flies off.
Weird night, indeed.

Moving in sucks.
Correction — moving in the human way sucks.
Lou was right, moving shit manually wasn’t fun. I miss my fucking servants.
He was pretty sure if he asked one of his children to help him out, they would, but he hates bothering them for anything. It would be nice to see how they were doing, but he knows they all have busy lives, and calling them out from wherever they were just to help him move stuff? God, dick move.
Alexi sighs as he picks up a box from his car and makes the trek over to the elevator for the— what number is it now?, fuck it I don’t care —time. This is what he gets for having a good fashion sense. Alexi sighs again as he presses the button for the 7th floor.
“Wait up!”
Oh for fuck’s sake. Alexi holds open the elevator door anyway.
A tan hand is placed on the side of the door, and a familiar face comes into view. The guy hasn’t looked up yet, clearly panting from running.
“Thank you, for holding the door op—“ He looks up.
“Hello.” He can’t help it, Alexi grins. This is gonna be fun.
“You—“
“Haven’t reported anything to the police? No, I haven’t.”
“Why are you—“
“Moving in. As you can see.” Alexi tilts his head down to the box he’s holding. The elevator door closes and starts to move up.
“That’s not what I—“ The guy starts again.
“Why haven’t I reported you? Truth be told I don’t care.”
“Rude.” The guy looks towards the panel and stops for a moment. “Please don’t tell me you—“
“Also live on the 7th floor?” He narrows his eyes at Alexi before sighing in indignation. This is gonna be real fucking fun.
The door opens and they both get out, walking down the west corridor. The guy glares at Alexi further when he just smiles. They walk in terse silence, Alexi walking ahead and the other following shortly behind.
He smiles as he scents the air, a mix of confusion, disbelief, anger, permeating from the man behind him. He can almost taste the calculations the other is making on whether or not to brain him right this instant. Not like there’s any cameras around anyway.
Alexi stops at 7103, and smiles back at the guy. “This is me,” He notices the other’s face fall and it clicks. “Pfft—so, neighbours, huh?”
“Fuck you.”
“Buy me dinner first.”
“Oh for fuck’s—“ He turns around, enters his apartment, and slams the door.
“Now who’s being rude?” Alexi pouts. He opens the door and piles another box in. He briefly wonders if it’ll be worth risking a sighting to have one of his servants do the rest of the work for him. But then again, he bet Ivan he’d do it all himself, and ain’t there a greater motivation than spite.

Two hours and seventeen more boxes later, Alexi finally got all his shit in the apartment. He walked on towards the living room and opened the curtains. The sun was setting now, less harsh than it was a couple of hours back. He sits on the couch and opens his phone. It’s got two messages: one from Lou, and his oldest childe, Eriin.

From: Lou Woodrow
How’s the move going? Call me once you’re done. Also I may have accidentally told Eriin you’re there. Whoops.

Alexi huffs a laugh, and dials Lou’s cell.
“Hello.” He greets her good-naturedly.
“Hello to you too.” He hears her shuffle around a bit. “How was the move?”
“Repetitive and boring. I briefly considered calling my children to do the work for me. Didn’t though. I didn’t wanna bother them.”
“I don’t think they’d be too bothered to help you, Eriin for one was extremely excited to hear from you.”
“Oh dear, she’s texted me a ton. And,” He looks at the call logs. “Attempted to call me multiple times. I unfortunately had my phone on silent, so I didn’t hear her.”
Lou laughs. “Call her back, that girl misses you a lot. You should’ve seen her face when I told her where you were. Lit up like a..” She snaps her fingers a couple of times.
“Lightbulb?”
“Sure, why not.”
Alexi looks towards the sunset, watching the day grow dimmer by the minute. He feels thirsty , and he thinks about what good a meal will do for him.
“I’ll make sure to call her, maybe I’ll invite her over for dinner tonight. I’m craving a bit of B+ at the moment.”
“Do that, it’s her favorite. Or was it A+? Ah, I don’t remember. Nor care.”
“Yes, it’s B+, I’ll call her now. Talk to you soon, Lou.”
“Goodbye, Alexi.” She hangs up.
Alexi goes back to the hall where most of the boxes he brought were piled. He grabs the cooler which contained bags of blood he got from The Bank. He grabs the ones with the yellow colored labels, before proceeding to the kitchen and preparing his ingredients.
Chips with a Spinach and Artichoke Dip for starters, then Blood Sausages with pan-fried potatoes and horseradish, and finally creme brûlée for dessert. And a cup of fresh B+ blood to help it all come together. His kind don’t really need to eat normal food, but serving dinner to a guest, and most especially a friend, is a courtesy Alexi always enjoyed.
But before he begins, he really should go call Eriin before the poor girl goes spare.
