Chapter Text

I realized that the concept of this story may be quite confusing so here's a quick explanation and a few facts to get you into the mood :)

The world consists of humans who are either completely normal or could be hybrids or have inhuman abilities (for example telekinesis).

People who are hybrids can resemble the animal they are mixed with but don't have to. The changes may range from having ears or tails, through changed eyes or noses to having just boosted instincts. Some hybrids can transform into their animal but it's not that frequent - up to 80% hybrids can't, whether it's conditioned genetically or because the animal they're resembling is too small (which is usually the case). If they can, however, their animal can be up to two times the size of the normal one presented in nature.

Going around in an animal form is legally allowed but is generally perceived as something morally wrong, especially in big cities (exception being small kids who are still learning).

People who have unusual abilities are called mages. Their appearances usually aren't changed at all apart from sometimes abnormal colored eyes or hair.

All people go to the same schools but some of their classes are determined based on what they are.

And here at the beginning we have:

Hyunjin: Human

Changbin: Hybrid - wolf; can transform

Jisung: Hybrid - squirrel; can't transform

Minho: Hybrid - clouded panther; can transform

Felix: Hybrid - cougar; can transform

Chan: Mage

Jeongin: Hybrid - fox; can't transform

Seungmin: Mage

If you don't dig it at all then I guess better find something more suited for your liking :)

But if you're feeling the idea or are just curious then you're welcomed to follow my dumb imagination

I hope you'll enjoy <3

Hyunjin was bored. It was beyond normal boredom. If someone ran into the classroom and declared that they need recruits for hunting aliens Hyunjin would be the first in line. His head's been resting on the table for a good fifteen minutes, forcing him to either lay his eyes at the yellow shirt of some dude sitting in front of him or close them completely. That of course didn't go unnoticed by his Biology teacher's attention though by now he was pretty much done with dealing with Hyunjin so for both his and the young male's good, he stopped being bothered.

"You could at least pretend you don't want to go home that badly" his classmate, Lia, spoke through clenched teeth while still taking notes "You know, this class is actually pretty interesting if you listen like... At all" she looked at Hyunjin and poked his head.

"Leave me alone" he mumbled and faced the surface of the desk, making his nose mush against it.

"Oh you man child, come on" Lia grabbed the back of her friend's shirt and pulled him up. Hyunjin involuntarily sat back up with a pout on his face.

Hyunjin had a mixed reputation in his school. People knew him. Most of them anyway with how popular he was among girls (and guys but those rarely spoke about their interests since the boy never initiated anything with another person of the same gender). Hyunjin liked the attention - craved it even - so with every chance he got he would talk to random people that were willing to spend time with him. He never got attached to them though. Partly, because half of them had personalities of a decayed log and partly because he never did well with long term relationships or at least thought so. He was kind of the playboy type but just way more polite and kind of cowardly (he could never lay a hand on another being - violence disgusted him). And so he continued living as a drama king, ready to hang out with everyone but too far up his own ego to let anyone get close to him. Some people loved it, some despised.

Lia was a weird exception. The reason she was able to hold onto the boy for much longer than others was mostly because she wasn’t actually interested in him at all. It amused Hyunjin, who was so used to everyone being in awe with his looks, seeing this small girl giving him nothing he’d expect from her and others would be willing to throw at him any moment. She didn’t really care about his reputation and one could say was doing it for her own amusement and pride of being the only voice of reason to the egotistic boy.

"I reaaaaly want it to end already~" he threw his head back and rubbed it with his hands. Lia only rolled her eyes and looked back at her notebook while scratching her puppy ears.

"Motherfucker" Chan cursed under his breath while running towards the bus station and at the same time trying to zip up his bag, which was obviously going against his will. The lollipop in his mouth almost fell out as he yelled in annoyance, seeing his bus on the other side of the crossroad. He looked around and seeing no police, dashed on the red lights, getting honked at which caused him to only roll his eyes and look back at his (still opened) bag to check if everything was inside. With a few quick steps Chan jumped inside the bus and sighed deeply.

'Well that's enough exercise for today' He took out his phone and while taking a seat, began calling Changbin.

"You better answer, short cunt" he mumbled while looking outside the window at the passing city streets.

And Changbin?

Changbin was asleep.

Well that was until his younger brother busted into his room, yelling at the top of his lungs.

"WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE AGAIN DICKNIPS!" Seungmin walked up to Changbin's bed, taking the blanket away from him.

"Do I look like I care" the older boy mumbled into his pillow while curling up in a ball.

"And do I look like I want to hear your opinion?!" Seungmin grabbed his brother's arm and pushed him off the bed "Get up you block of concrete!" he huffed leaving Changbin on the ground with cloudy eyes. The older looked at the ceiling, groaning loudly while trying to wiggle and stand up. He grabbed his phone and saw a few missed calls from Chan.

"Well shit" he exhaled and his eyes widened after seeing they had ten minutes left before the lessons would start "Shit, shit, shit!" Changbin ran to his wardrobe, took out a random set of clothes that smelled acceptable and dashed to the bathroom.

"How many more hours before we complete this hell ride?" Hyunjin whined loudly, driving some of the people's eyes to him. Few girls looked at him lovingly and upon reaching his attention he sent them a wink and earned a nudge to his side from Lia.

"Gross" she said quietly "Why do you have to be so disgustingly flirty?" she asked, but not really waiting for the answer and kept her eyes glued to her phone.

"What do you mean? There are obvious reasons behind my gigantic love base" Hyunjin said nonchalantly flipping his hair and getting another unamused look from the girl "I don't get why you don't see it"

"Oh I do. I just don't like it" she spoke up and raised an eyebrow "That's why my challenge is to stick with you and prevent from becoming an ultimate douchebag" she looked back at her phone and added with a bored tone "Which you kind of already are but whatever"

"Why do you have to be such a salty girl??" Hyunjin huffed and crossed his arms.

"Sup bitches" he turned around and saw a squirrel boy come their way.

"Great, needed this dumbass to show up" Hyunjin mumbled almost unadiable, sending the boy a glare.

Han Jisung approached them, earning their attention. He was way shorter than Hyunjin but that didn’t stop him from straightening his back proudly and looking confidently at the other boy. He had blonde hair squirrel ears standing up on his head and blending with his light hair which had orange streaks here and there. Jisung was well known in the school, mostly with his bizarre outfits he’d shamesly stroll in down the halls. He was an easy going guy and knew a lot of people from random classes and years, even being close with the seniors who’d often greet him as he was walking around the school. Hyunjin didn’t know why byt the kid was always getting on his nerves with his chill vibes and crowds of cheerful people surrounding him. Maybe he was jealous but he’d never admit that to anybody - not even himself.

Jisung ignored the taller's murder eyes and began a cheerful talk with Lia, which only annoyed Hyunjin more because now he didn't have anybody to talk to. So he just stood there, leaned against the wall looking around until some random girl walked up to him.

"Hey Hyunjin~" she said dragging out his name. The boy didn't necessarily like it but smiled anyway and started talking with the girl.

Lia and Jisung looked at him and then at each other.

"Should we stop him or-"

"Nah" the girl stopped her friend and turned away "Let's see how he handles it. Also Jisung" she looked at the squirrel boy "I have some plans to mess around with him but I need your help"

“I do love some mess” Han smirked playfully.

"Come on, come on!" Changbin hissed while trying to stuff his feet into his shoes "Piece of shit-"

"Here, take that. I made you breakfast!" Seungmin tossed a paper bag to Changbin which he took and put into his mouth while proceeding to exit their house with one shoe on.

"Go, go!" Changbin dashed to his motorcycle and shoved the keys into the ignition. He started the vehicle and still with the paper bag in mouth, took off harshly.

"I swear if we get arrested I'm going to burn your room!" Seungmin yelled while holding onto Bin's waist firmly, trying not to fall from the motor, as the older was breaking every single road rule he knew.
