“I see...mhm, I understand but...what exactly do you need my help for, Atsumu-san?”
Oikawa was curiously looking at his boyfriend. The two of them were sitting on the couch and watching some TV shows when the younger received a call. He didn’t know what Tobio had to discuss with that piss-blonde idiot. Yes, Oikawa was a very jealous person and he had only met Atsumu one time, still, that was the worst first impression he ever had. That guy really thought it was funny to claim Tobio as his, little did Oikawa know, that Atsumu at that time had already known that he and Tobio were dating and just wanted to tease Oikawa. So what in the world had been so important that HIS Tobio had to talk about with HIM at this time of the day on their Saturday that they wanted to spend together? Sure, they were just lying around on the couch, but still, it was precious couple time!
“Okay, I will see what I can do. It would be easier to meet up though. Yeah, you can come over tomorrow”
Oikawa was now glaring at him. Why did they need to meet up? He surely wasn’t going to let them see each other all alone. Of course, he trusts Tobio, but he didn’t trust that foxy guy.
Kageyama finally hung up and put his phone down just to look at Oikawa
“What?”
“’What’ you’re asking? What was that?”
“Atsumu-san”
“I know! I am asking what he wanted?”
“Oh, he asked me to help him”
“With what?”
“He said that there was this guy that he liked, and he wants to go on a date with him but-”
“WHAT? Are you sure he’s not talking about you?”
“Why would he? He knows that we are dating”
“Tobio, you are way too dense! What if it was a trap?”
“But he said that guy was his team captain. I think Kita-san was his name”
“O-Oh well that makes sense hahaha”
“Oikawa-san, you are too overprotective. I am friends with Atsumu-san and friends help each other”
“I know! But you have to understand that it’s difficult to have a boyfriend that plays volleyball with 100 other guys in his team plus there are about 50 other teams that know you!”
“But isn’t it the same with you? Also, they are all straight...well except of Atsumu-san of course”
“No! That’s completely different!”
“How?”
“Look, I don’t want to start an argument with you now. You just have to know that I’m a suuuper jealous person!”
“I know, Oikawa-san...”
“BESIDES! How come you still call me by my last name and not Miya?”
“W-Well, I’ve known you since Kitagawa Daiichi and I still respect you so I can’t really...”
“Aww! But now that I think about it, you do call me by my first name when we have s-”
“THAT’S DIFFERENT!”
“Now now, are you embarrassed?”
“Am not!”
“Then what’s with this blush on your face~?”
“S-Stop”, Tobio held a pillow in front of his face that was separating him from Oikawa.
“Tobiooo~”
“Uhm, I want to ask you something...”
“What would that be~?”
“I need your help!”
“Keep talking...”
“So...Atsumu-san-”
“Ugh, this again?”
“-he wanted to meet up with me tomorrow so I can help him with his uhm...crush”
“And?”
“I thought you should come too since I don’t think I can actually help him”
On one side Oikawa did not want to see the ugly twin that was taking advantage of his cute little Tobio but then again, he wouldn’t be able to leave him alone with him. So there was only one option for Oikawa, and he knew that meant getting a headache from that disgusting Kansai dialect that nails scratching the board.
“Please...Tooru?”
“Sure, I will help!”
“Really? Thank you Oikawa-san!”, he jumped in his boyfriend's arms and hugged him tightly. After a short hug he let go and kissed him on the lips. Just when he was about to pull away, he felt a hand slinging around his back that pulled him closer to Oikawa. Soon after, he was pushed down on the couch with his boyfriend hovering over him. They started to make out when Oikawa’s hand was exploring Tobio’s body under his shirt. He pulled away to take his own shirt off and then Tobio’s.
“Wait, get the lube and a condom first”
“Oh, yeah. Just a second”, he walked upstairs to Tobio’s room to get the things he needed. When he came back, they continued where they left off...
(The next day)
Kageyama and Oikawa were waiting on the couch for Atsumu to arrive. The blonde had texted him when he was at the train station, which was about 10 minutes away from Kageyama’s home. Just when Tobio was wondering when he would arrive, the doorbell rang. He opened the door to reveal a bright smiling Atsumu.
“Tobio-kun!”, he immediately hugged the smaller setter just to see a bitter-looking Oikawa behind him, “Oh, Oikawa-kun is also here!”
“You know it’s impolite to call older people –kun, right?”
“Ah come on, you still have a stick up your ass, I see”
“Tobio, don’t help that prick! He doesn’t deserve your help. And besides...”, he shoved him off of Tobio, “don’t touch him!”
“Oikawa-san”
“I know I agreed to help but I changed my mind! Go back to Hyogo asshole!”
“Nah, this is not your house! You can’t decide who comes in and who doesn’t, right Tobio-kun?"
“Don’t let him brainwash you, Tobio!”
“Can you two please stop? It’s really annoying!”
“Tobio-chan!”
“Tobio-kun!”
“Please come in, Atsumu-san"
“Yay!”
Oikawa kept glaring at him, he would probably never be able to befriend him. But God was he thankful that he lived far away, at least he didn’t have to see him every day.
“Do you want something to drink?”
“Yesss please! Agh I’m so tired!”, he laid down on the couch, the couch where Tobio and Oikawa did THAT yesterday. It made Oikawa smile confidently. “Tobio-kun your boyfriend is creepy!”
“Shut up asshole!”
“Please stop fighting you two”
“Fine, but only for you Tobio~”
“What he said~”
“I think you forgot that he is MY boyfriend”
“Hehe, your reaction is just wayyy too funny”
“Here is your water”
“Thank you Tobio-kun!”
“So what did you need my help for?”
“I told you that I reeeally like Kita-san, but the thing is...I don’t know how I should ask him out! And you are the only gay friend I have, so I thought I should ask you!”
“Okay but...what do you want me to do?”
“Tobio-kun! I am saying you should tell me how I can get a boyfriend! Although your boyfriend is weird-”
“Hey! I am still here you know?”
“-you still have one! How did you do it?”
“H-How you ask?”, he looked at Oikawa who was just smiling, “Well, you have to confess. No, first you have to spend some time with him, you know, getting closer and stuff. And then when the moment is there, you confess to him!”
“Aww, that sounds great, but the problem is, Kita-san is a bit...dense.
“Don’t worry, Tobio is too”, Oikawa threw in
“HEY!”
“He is super serious about everything, but I don’t think he ever thought about dating someone”
“Just because he never thought about it doesn’t mean he can’t imagine dating someone. That’s why you have to get close to him. If he gets used to hanging out with you, he will probably be hung up on you”
“But what if he’s not into guys?”
“To be honest, you just have to risk it. You probably won’t know it until you ask him out. It was the same for us”
“I never wanted anyone to know about my crush, but then Tobio confessed and I asked him out”
“You guys are just lucky! I know he will think I am joking”
“Atsumu-san, I can’t help you if you keep having negative thoughts!”
“I am sorry. Maybe I shouldn’t confess at all”
“God, stop being such a cry-baby! You can flirt with Tobio but not confess to someone you like?”
“Weren’t you the same?”
“I HAVE a boyfriend, other than you!”
“Good for you, but-”
“I have an idea!”, the older two looked at him in confusion, “How about a double date? You can ask Kita-san if he wants to hang out with you and a few friends and we meet at a restaurant. It will help you to avoid awkward situations and once he gets comfortable, you can talk more freely with him”
“Tobio, you are the smartest person that I know!”, Oikawa petted his head like a small puppy
“This could actually work...alright, let’s do this! I will ask Kita-san when he’s free”
After a few (painful) minutes of waiting for the 3 rd year to respond, they knew that they would meet him next week in Hyogo. Atsumu was beyond excited and because he felt so happy, he invited Tobio and even Oikawa to dinner. They went through their plan a few times and settled the time and place they would meet.
In the evening Atsumu bid his goodbye to the two and drove back to Hyogo with the train. Tobio was happy he could help Atsumu and Oikawa was proud of his boyfriend who had such a great idea. They were all looking forward to the next weekend and their double date.
(The next week)
Tobio and Oikawa just got off the train when the younger sent a message to Atsumu. They were supposed to meet in 2 hours, but Atsumu was already a complete wreck. He kept panicking and saying bad things that could happen. Tobio tried to calm him down, but it was all for nothing. They decided to visit and try to talk to him.
A: “Tobio!”, he immediately hugged the smaller who returned the hug to Oikawa's dismay
T: “It’s alright”, Tobio patted his head
O: “I thought you were happy about the date, why the hell are you freaking out?”
A: “Because! It’s Kita-san, he is the most unpredictable human being on this earth! You have no idea what I’m dealing with Oikawa-kun!”
O: “Alright, now let go of Tobio!”
Os: “God Tsumu shut up, no one cares about your problems”, the younger twin suddenly appeared behind his brother
A: “SAMU! You’re supposed to cheer me up! You’re my brother, remember?”
Os: “Yeah no, I never agreed on that”
A: “Hey!”
O: “Do I really have to deal with two Miyas’?”, Oikawa said while looking at Tobio
Os: “Nah, I’m gone. I can’t stand Tsumu’s crying anymore. Good luck with him Tobio-kun. Don’t you dare call me to pick you up when Kita-san turned you down, Tsumu"
A: “What is that supposed to mean?”
Os: “Nothing. Bye”
T: “Goodbye Osamu-san"
O: “You call even him by his first name?”
T: “They have the same family name, what am I supposed to do?”
A: “Can we please talk about the important things?”
O: “Fuck you, my relationship is more important than your problems!”
A: “As much as I would like to fight with you, I don’t have the nerves for that if you didn’t notice!”
O: “Alright, shut up and let us in”
They walked to the living room when Atsumu sat down in complete silence.
T: “So-”
A: “I CAN’T DO IT!”
T: “Calm down! You know we have a plan and in case something doesn’t work out, we will be there to help. It’s not like you’re confessing today. You’re just meeting him, and we are there too. Do you usually freak out when you play volleyball with him?”
A: “No, of course not! Ugh, I guess you are right. I need to take this opportunity; I can’t fuck it up”
T: “Good, keep that in mind. We have to go now to get ready too”
A: “You two are not going to a love hotel, are you?”
T: “What? Atsumu-san!”
O: “Damn you asshole, do you have to ruin everything?”
T: “Oikawa-san?!”
O: “Well what else did you want to do?”
T: “We can go to the city and look around!”
O: “But Tobiooo”
T: “I am not going to do THAT when Atsumu-san knows about it”
Oikawa glared at Atsumu who raised his arms as if he was trying to protect himself. They walked out of the house and went to the city.
(Later)
Atsumu texted Tobio when he picked Kita up. They were on their way while Tobio and Oikawa were already at the restaurant, waiting for the other ones to arrive.
O: “It’s really cool, you press this and then you can-”
A: “Hellooo~ we are finally here!”
T: “Hello Atsumu-san and Kita-san"
O: “Hi”
K: “Greetings, may I ask for your names?”
A: “That’s Tobio-kun and that’s Oikawa-kun"
K: “Atsumu, you know it’s impolite to interrupt others”
A: “S-Sorry. Let’s sit down first”
T: “Uhm, my name is Kageyama Tobio”
O: “Oikawa Tooru”
K: “I am pleased to meet you. My name is Kita Shinsuke, but I think Atsumu already told you”
O: “Yeah, he told us quite a bit”, Oikawa joked and earned an elbow from Tobio
A: “Did you order already?”
T: “No, we wanted to wait for you guys”
K: “That is very considerate, thank you”
O: “Excuse me, we would like to order!”
When the waiter disappeared Oikawa and Tobio got to action by asking Kita all kinds of questions
O: “So, what grade are you in?”
K: “I am in 3 rd grade”
O: “Really? Me too! Tobio is in 1 st by the way”
K: “You must be really young then”
T: “Yeah, I am 16”
K: “May I ask for your positions? Atsumu just said you were volleyball players too”
T: “We are both setters and Oikawa-san is also the captain”
K: “Do you play in the same team”
O: “No, I am going to Aoba Johsai and Tobio goes to Karasuno. But we used to play together in junior high, that’s how we met. What’s your position?”
K: “I’m an outside hitter and the captain from Inarizaki”
T: “That’s really cool”
K: “Thank you”
They got their food and started to eat, but somehow Atsumu didn’t seem well. He made a weird face the whole time the other two were talking to Kita who was giving short and polite answers but completely ignored Atsumu. At some point, Atsumu suddenly just stood up which made everyone else look at him
A: “I need to go to the bathroom”, he turned to Oikawa, “Oikawa-kun accompany me there!”
O: “What? Dude no, leave me- hey!”, Atsumu pulled him towards the bathroom, leaving two very confused boys behind
(In the bathroom)
O: “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
A: “It’s horrible, Kita-san is only talking to you two! We were supposed to joke around together, but he doesn’t seem interested in me!”
O: “Duh, he doesn’t know us. Of course, he wants to know more about us”
A: “But still, I feel left out!”
O: “Then talk to him? Besides, he’s weird! He’s talking way too formal, it’s scary!”
A: “I told you he was a bit different! So what am I supposed to do now?”
O: “The hell am I supposed to know?”
A: “You’re supposed to help me?”
O: “To be honest, I’m just here to take care of Tobio”
A: “Wha- and I thought we could become friends!”
O: “As if I wanted to be your friend!”
A: “Tsk, I am going back”
O: “Oh really? Because I am too!”
They walked out of the bathroom just to see Tobio and Kita talking and laughing together. Atsumu couldn’t believe his eyes, although he had known Kita for half a year now, he rarely saw him smiling. Even Oikawa was shocked that Tobio got along with him, judging from the way he normally socializes. They walked closer, trying to hear what they were talking about.
K: “Hahaha, really? Sounds totally like him”, Kita smiled brightly as he said that
T: “I was really confused but somehow we became friends after that”
K: “Yeah, Atsumu makes friends easily. I’m actually a bit jealous of him”
T: “You don’t have to be. It’s not important to have many friends, I’d rather have a few good ones than many who don’t really care about you”
K: “Yeah, you are right. Oh, looks like they are back”
A: “Sorry, there was a long queue haha. What are you guys talking about?”
T: “Oh, just about-”
K: “Nothing interesting”
Oikawa and Atsumu looked at each other in confusion. Especially Atsumu felt weird, he had rarely (if he ever did) see Kita smile and having fun. But the fact that he didn’t want to tell him what they were talking about hurt him a bit. He would have to ask Tobio later about it. But for now, the two sat down at the table again. They continued to eat their food while Kita remained silent and only Oikawa, Kageyama and Atsumu talked back and forth. Atsumu tried to integrate Kita into their conversations, but every time he did, the older would answer with a few simple words.
It only got interesting when Oikawa started feeding Tobio with his fries. Kita looked worriedly at Atsumu who was not really understanding why he did that.
O: “Tobio-chan you’re the cutest! I love you”
T: “I love you too”, he said a bit more silent, obviously feeling embarrassed to say that in front of the others.
Kita looked again at Atsumu, who looked like he couldn’t care less about what they said. Although he had to admit that it was frustrating to see a couple being all lovey-dovey when he was still trying to figure out if Kita would ever consider liking someone romantically.
Kita hastily looked back at them to state the obvious: “Wait, you two are dating?”
T: “What did you think, Kita-san?”
K: “I thought Atsumu liked you and that he brought me here to help him”
“WHAT?”, all three of them said at the same time. If Kita actually knew that it was the exact opposite...
K: “Am I wrong?”
A: “TOTALLY!”
O: “Tobio and I have been dating for over a year”
K: “Oh...my mistake, I apologize”
T: “It’s fine, it’s good that we didn’t leave you with that impression”
A: “Tobio-kun might be reeeally cute and all but I will leave him to Oikawa-kun"
O: “Hey, be careful with what you’re saying”
T: “Calm down Oikawa-san"
K: “Pff...hahaha you guys really have a special relationship. I am really happy for you two”
T: “T-Thank you”
A: “K-Kita-san is laughing again!”
K: “What do you mean by that?”
A: “Huh? Oh nothing, really!”
K: “Then should we pay already? It’s getting late and you two need to go back home, right?”
O: “No, we are actually staying in a hotel for the night, it would take too long to get home”
K: “Oh, I see”
A: “But it’s better if we actually paid, the waiter keeps looking at us because we aren’t eating anymore”
Oikawa paid for his and Tobio's food while Atsumu told Kita he would invite him since he came along with him today. Kita tried to tell him that he would pay for himself but before he could open his mouth the food was already paid for.
T: “It was really nice to meet you, Kita-san"
K: “Likewise”
A: “Good, I think we should go now. Let’s do this again some time!”
T: “Sure, have a good night”
K: “You too, bye”
T: “Goodbye”
O: “See ya”
A: “Bye-bye”
They bid their goodbyes as they parted ways...
(With Tobio and Oikawa)
“I would say we did a good job”, Oikawa stated proudly
“I don’t know, he was pretty silent the whole time”
“They weren’t supposed to date right away. We told him that for now they have to get closer, and I think they did. Meeting the friends of someone will help Kita to understand what kind of person Miya is with other people. If he sees that he gets along well with others it will leave a good impression on Kita”
“Yeah, sounds logical. I think it’s up to him now what he will do with this progress. I just hope for him he doesn’t do or say anything stupid that could destroy Kita-sans impression of him”
“It’s his decision what he does with it. If he really likes Kita, he won’t do anything dumb, even if it’s Miya”
“Hopefully...thank you Tooru”
“Huh? For what?”
“For helping my friend”
“You know I only did it for you”
“I know, that’s why I am thanking you Tooru”
“...you know the night is still young so...”
“Fine”
“What?”
“I said fine”
“Really? Omg, awesome! Let’s hurry back to the hotel then!”
“You idiot, you are lucky I love you”
“Yes, I am. I love you too”
(With Kita and Atsumu)
“Sooo Kita-san"
“Yes?”
“How was it?”
“What?”
“Meeting my friends, hanging out and getting to know them?”
“It was very refreshing”
“Refreshing? Is that good or bad?”
“Of course good. They are very kind and funny, and they seem to be a happy couple. I have to apologize that I misinterpreted your relationship with Kageyama-kun”
“Ah yeah, that was quite funny. But don’t worry, I’m not mad or anything”
“Okay”
There was an unpleasing silence between the two of them until they reached a certain neighborhood.
“We are here”, Kita said
“Huh?”
“I live here”
“O-Oh, really?”
“Yeah”
“Well, then have a good night, I hope you had a great day”, Atsumu said while rubbing the back of his neck and looking to the side embarrassingly. Kita noticed that of course but instead of saying something about it, he smiled softly and pulled Atsumu down by his shirt. He placed a feather-like kiss on his right cheek and smiled even wider when he saw Atsumu’s reaction. His face was beet red and his eyes were wide open. He was speechless and completely confused.
“Good night”, the smaller said as Atsumu was still on the same eye level as him. He let go of him, turned around and started walking away. Just before he entered the house, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and seemed to text someone. Although Atsumu was still frozen in place, he noticed that, but his brain was still trying to process what happened a minute ago. Suddenly he heard his phone buzz which finally shook him out of his trance. He saw that he received a message from Kita.
Kita-san ♥
Are you free tomorrow?
He looked at Kita who was still not inside the house and looked back at him.
“Y-YES I AM!”
“Good, I will text you. Night”, he smiled again
“G-Good night, Kita-san!”, he said and bowed towards his senpai who went inside. And Atsumu went home with the biggest smile on his face, not being able to comprehend what just happened to him and that he would see his beloved Kita-san tomorrow again.
