Bet you've never seen a wreck like this

Summary:

...but I'm always doing better than your peers

Notes:

Recently I watched Thaf react to Marble Hornets (first season), a series that I knew about but I never watched on my own because I’m a scary cat. The thing is that the obsession hit hard so I got into the party pretty late.
I’m already reading everything in here so that's why the inspiration hit me to write this, it's little but I want to put it out.
And about Outlast, I haven’t finished playing because scary cat BUT I did watch the playthrough of the original, the DLC, and the second one, so I know what’s up.

If I get a dollar every time I like a cameraman that gets killed by people shooting at him but doesn’t really die when, after his curiosity won the best of him, ended up messing with something paranormal that (possibly) brings him back to life… I would have two dollars. It’s not really surprising but it’s curious that it happened twice.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

THE VICTIMS

Being shot it’s not fun.

Not that being stab was better or being manhandled, and thrown through a window, or almost being choke to death.

But the countless shots are the thing that “killed” him, with quotation marks considering that here he was, looking at his stolen Jeep being driven away.

Great.

Being shot wasn’t fun.

It hurt like a bitch and now his favorite hoodie was ruined. The worst thing, apart from the obvious thing of being in pain and dying, was that his friend was the one to shot him, and it doesn’t make it better that he knows Tim is close. He got to trust him in that investigation, even if in the end they have a disagreement, so he guesses he ended up caring for the guy.

I hate it here.

He thinks meanwhile his body begins to feel numb and that's bad. Hears a static sound inside his head, like those times he checked the tapes, and something unusual happened, to not say fucked.

His sight is getting shaky, but he can see him perfectly.

There is a cold inside his body that contrasts pretty well with the warmth of his blood that now is outside of his body.

“Well shit.” It’s the last thing he has in his mind before blacking out.

THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY

Waylon doesn’t stop.

Not when he almost crash against a wall, not when he almost falls unconscious because of exhaustion, not even when he crash against a tree.

He has to get as far away as possible from that place.

People died.

He saw some of them died, he saw some of the bodies too, and he saw… whatever that was that following him, after saving him. Giving him the opportunity of scaping that hell hole.

He drags himself out of the broken car, he is feeling the exhaustion again, but this time, with his sigh on the morning sky he blacks out.

Maybe he is safe now.

Tim screams when he is alone, just because he can.

He knows the rooms next to his are empty, no one would care about someone screaming.

He screams until he is choking on his own blood because even if he took his pills, and he is two states away, this is not over yet.

Because Alex burned his house. Alex that it’s still alive when Brian and Jay aren’t.

He just has to wait.

He didn’t feel safe anymore, and he is not going to be safe from now on.

When they ask if he wants to continue with this, this being share to the world the fucked up things that he went through, what Miles Upshur went through, he didn’t hesitate in clicking enter. Because people died in there, he almost died in there.

Lisa and the kids are already in another country, with other names.

They are safe.

That’s the only thing that matters.

“Everything is fine,” he says to himself meanwhile washing his hands of all the blood, Alex's blood.

“Everything is fine,” he says to himself meanwhile sees the notification of video uploaded on the channel, Jay’s channel.

“Everything is fine,” he says to himself taking a cigarette to his mouth meanwhile gets on the car, Brian’s old car.

“Everything is fine," he says to his own reflection after breaking in the middle of nowhere, with the empty highway right next to where he parked. The dark lines under his eyes are noticeable, and his hands shake too much that grabbing the steering wheel is complicated. He coughs, just once, making him choke in pills before repeating many times how he is fine, everything is fine.

He looks at the review mirror, saying goodbye to his dead friends, to the monster of his nightmares, and to the mask that was part of him for so long.

“Everything is fine.”

Notes:

It's not much but...meh.
And I haven't watched the next seasons of MH (I waiting for Thaf) but I kind of know what's up. I tried to fix some inconsistencies either way.

Thanks for reading!
