Work Text:
Wilbur watched as his friends were creating L’manburg with him, it was a lovely place but sometimes his friends didn’t follow what he wanted to happen. He ruled the place so he should get to decide what happens.
“No, no, no! You’re doing wrong. Tommy needs to walk down to pogtopia where Techno and Tubbo are!” He shouted at them. George was sleeping again so it was lucky they didn’t need him that day. The boy still hadn’t moved so he pushed Tommy down the makeshift cave he had dug.
“There! That’s more like it.” Wilbur was pleased when the boy finally listened. He decided he wanted something more, it was time to destroy L’manburg so he could create a new place! L’manburg was getting slightly boring.
He pulled everyone over to the area where L’manburg lay, something was missing. Then he remembered the neighbor boy, he would be willing to help! He walked over to where the house was and knocked. When the door opened there stood a tall teenager, he looked nervous once he saw Wilbur, he had nothing to be worried about, why was he nervous?
“May I help you?” The tall boy asked.
“Yes! I need you to help me play pretend!”
The tall boy followed him out and to where his friends sat. The boy looked skeptically at them but didn’t say anything.
“What’s your name?” Wilbur suddenly remembered he didn’t know the boys name.
“Oh uh Ranboo.” He stopped staring at Wilbur’s friends to look at the ground near Wilbur’s feet instead.
“Hello Ranboo! Anyways it’s time to continue, I need Tommy by the small hill and Tubbo near the stands. Ranboo you can also go by the hill just stay out of sight until it’s destroyed.” He pointed to where everyone was supposed to go. His friends were the best!
Ranboo followed to where Wilbur had pointed, Tommy following behind.
“-Eret, and he said something and that was, it was never meant to be!” Wilbur pushed a button on a wall just as Phil flew in. Right on schedule.
“You need to kill me, they all want you to.”
“Caw,” Wilbur stared at Phil. That wasn’t right, he wasn’t supposed to make that noise. He was probably just messing around since he was a bird hybrid, sometimes his friends did that- act like the animals they were hybrids of- he thought it was weird but he let them do what they wanted.
Tubbo was now the president of L’manburg, or what was L’manburg. It was now just a crater in the earth.
Tommy stood at the edge of the crater while Ranboo walked up to where Tubbo stood.
L’manburg was gone.
-
“Wilbur this isn’t real! Those are animals, you need to stop doing this just so you don’t have to deal with reality.”
“This is real though, those are my friends!”
“They are animals, you stole those from where they were living, Wilbur this isn’t safe, you need to accept that it’s not real.”
-
Wilbur decided it was time for Tommy to be punished for destroying George’s home, he didn’t really care but Dream did and Wilbur didn’t like seeing Dream mad. He got everything set where they needed to be and started.
Tubbo was yelling at Tommy for something, he was deciding whether or not he should exile the boy.
Suddenly Dream walked up, this wasn’t right. It wasn’t supposed to go like this. Dream wasn’t supposed to be here. Dream was the reason this was happening in the first place, if he wasn’t so weird about Wilbur’s home then this never would have happened.
“Hey Wilbur, how’re you doing?” Dream crouched down to where Wilbur was laying on the floor.
“I’m fine. Go away, it’s almost time for Tubbo to decide if he’s going to forgive Tommy or not, which he obviously will, they are best friends.”
Dream walked over to the two mentioned boys. He said a couple things that Wilbur couldn’t hear and then he dragged Tommy off after the boy went to snap at him. He wasn’t supposed to do that. What was happening?
He followed after them. This wasn’t going as planned. Everything was going wrong.
Dream walked far away and told Wilbur this is where he’d be staying for awhile. It was a small log cabin. At least he had Tommy to keep him company.
Ranboo kept leaving him letters each day, he couldn’t understand what they said but it was a kind gesture nonetheless.
He didn’t like this, it wasn’t what was supposed to happen. He needed to get back on track. He had to watch what Tubbo would do with the place, he needed to see his family.
-
“Wilbur i’m sorry but that isn’t real, you can’t keep running off to this fantasy you’ve created.”
“It’s real. Everything about this is real, you saw it yourself!”
“I saw you sitting in a forest surrounded by a bunch of animals and Ranboo, why is he there anyways?”
“That’s my family and friends and they are real, you are upsetting me, please leave.”
-
He didn’t really know how he got here but it was providing some interesting events. Tommy was stuck in the prison with Dream so he needed to focus on Ranboo.
“Ranboo how would you fell about marrying Tubbo?”
It would be perfect! Now he would have a reason to connect Tommy and Ranboo’s friendships
-
“How would you feel about marrying Tubbo?”
“The goat?!”
“No! Tubbo isn’t a goat”
“He isn’t?”
“No. He’s not.”
“Alrighty then”
-
“Sure I’ll marry Tubbo” Ranboo responded boredly.
“Yay!” Wilbur clapped his hands together. Time to start a new adventure! He carefully built them a spot to be wed at. It was lovely!
The posts had flowers wrapped around them and small clay bees glued on. The flowers were purple and red. Wilbur was the one to wed them. It wasn’t very eventful but he was excited! He finally did something! Maybe he could convince his son that he wasn’t so bad and his son would trust him again.
Now it was time for him to save Tommy, he didn’t even know why Dream took him. Dream had threatened to kill him and Wilbur wouldn’t stand for that, Tommy was his brother after all.
He walked over to the prison where Dream and Tommy were. Dream had been locked up because he kept hurting his friends, Tommy went to visit him and now he’s trapped.
“Dream?” He called out into the dark box. Suddenly a dim light turned on and the room was slightly more visible. He could see Dream resting on the ground and Tommy laying on the other side of the room.
“Can I have my brother back?” He asked, Wilbur was worried that Dream would say no but he just handed Tommy back.
“That was easy.” He pulled his brother to his feet and they walked out of the room together.
-
“Can I have my brother back?”
“This raccoon? This is a wild animal, it’s not your brother.”
“That is my brother, quit messing around! Give him back!” He whined. He wanted it back.
“He bit me!”
“You deserved it!”
“Fine. Fine. I don’t have the energy to handle this right now, you can have the raccoon back” He handed over the small creature. It didn’t struggle at all and seemed happy to see Wilbur again.
-
Wilbur kept glancing at his brother. Tommy was being oddly quiet, more quiet than he usually was at least.
“You okay?” He asked Tommy.
When his brother nodded his fears disappeared. He was worried that Tommy may have been hurt but now he’s alright. He’s back home!
Maybe Dream was upset because he didn’t have his best friends. He should find Sapnap and George for him. Then he wouldn’t try and take Wilbur’s family anymore. Yeah! That’s a good plan. First he needed to go back to his home.
“Let’s start a burger van Ranboo!” Wilbur shouted excitedly once he got back to the others and sent Tommy away. Ranboo was carrying around a small child that he and Tubbo adopted. His name was Micheal. Micheal was very cute and was currently wearing a black and white sweater with a bee patch on the front.
-
He handed the tall boy a piglet.
“Your son.” He explained.
“Oh? Okay.” He was used to the older boys confusing fantasies after almost a year of this and took the baby pig with no questions. It squealed a bit when he held it but calmed down and soon fell asleep in his arms.
-
Ranboo nodded at the idea, starting a burger van seemed nice.
“Okay, i’ll do it.” He smiled once he saw how happy Wilbur got, the boy may be a little crazy but he was fun to be around.
They got to work building the van, Ranboo having to take breaks every so often to make sure Micheal was okay.
Once they had finished the van Quackity came over, they seemed to be arguing about something but Ranboo couldn’t understand him. He didn’t even originally want to do this, he was forced to hang out with Wilbur by his parents, he enjoyed it now but Wilbur concerned him sometimes. He seemed to be a little too involved in these little fantasies of his than what would be considered normal. Ranboo didn’t question it for the most part.
-
“This isn’t real Wilbur. You’ve just collected a bunch of animals and put them in a forest to act out these fantasies of yours, you need to accept this isn’t what’s real and start living in the present”
“Stop.”
“I’m going to keep saying it until you understand, this isn’t real.”
“You’re the villain Dream! Why do you hate us! Those are my friends.”
“I don’t hate them I just want you to live in this reality and accept what happened already,”
-
Wilbur watched as Las nevadas came crumbling down. He didn’t have much left, his dad was dead, one of his brothers was dead, he lost the van, Ranboo didn’t trust him anymore and his friends were terrified of him.
He wanted the simple times back, he missed everyone. Maybe Dream was right, maybe this wasn’t real.
-
“Do you actually want to talk about this?” He was skeptical, the boy usually panicked every time it was brought up.
“It’s time.” All the animals were in the room, he was staring at Dream. Wanting to get this over with.
“What happened to your family Wilbur?”
He remembered it all and told Dream as he remembered. He recalled Phil leaving him and his brothers and Tommy having to steal food for them to survive while Techno hunted as much as he could. He remembered George dying in a fire that Tommy accidentally started when they were cooking one night. He remembered watching his city being blown up as he wished to be killed, he didn’t want to have to watch, he wanted it to be over. He remembered Tommy being taken to jail. He told Dream everything.
“So what these fantasies of your were used as a form of escape since you blocked out what actually happened?”
Wilbur nodded. His breathing picked up and he started to panic before he realized everything was okay. He was safe.
-
When he woke up he ran over to where Ranboo was cleaning the van. He was excited for that day’s customers.
“How did the talk with Dream go?” He asked.
“What talk with Dream?” Was Ranboo crazy? Why would Wilbur ever talk to Dream.
Ranboo looked very confused but shook it off after a moment. None of this was real anyways, this was all just some of Wilbur’s fantasies. To him is was a game, it didn’t understand why Wilbur was so attached to it but he figured it’d be easier to let him to what he wanted. It was his world after all.
