Chapter Text
There they were, Hope's Peak Academy. Hajime was staring at the building amazed and seemed to be in some sort of internal monologue. Izuru waited patiently, but could already feel the all too familiar sense of boredom bubbling up. Students brushed past the two, while entering the school, they didn't seem to mind Hajime, this seemed to be an average occurrence but many gave Izuru odd looks. It's not like Izuru minded, they were used to it.
Izuru eventually grew too bored and snapped Hajime out of his trance, Hajime didn't seem to mind much, he understood. They finally got to the front entrance and had to show their acceptance letters to the man standing at the gate. He looked strong, Izuru felt they could beat him in a fight.
Hajime had already produced his paper and just when Izuru was about to do the same there was a sharp tug on their hair and the pull sent them falling back, they landed on the concrete and quickly turned around to do, something, they hadn’t decided yet. But when they turned around they saw a very frazzled boy on the ground. Izuru could immediately tell that this wasn't intentional, the way he had fallen and the fact he had scraped his hands in his fall said more than enough. Izuru held the back of their head where their hair was pulled, seemingly glaring at the boy when really they were just analyzing.
He was pale, too pale, and far too skinny. Izuru thought he should eat more. His eyes were a dulled green and panicked and he started spewing off apologies to Izuru, Izuru heard none of them. His hair was white, it appeared fluffy and soft, Izuru was tempted to touch it but knew that wasn't appropriate right now and they had no permission to do so.
When Izuru snapped back into reality they could hear Hajime lightly scolding the fluffy headed boy. “Just watch where you're going, you're gonna hurt someone” the boy vigorously nodded “yes yes, i'm so sorry, to have such bad luck on the first day, I truly am so unlucky. I tripped over my own two feet and tried to grab onto the nearest thing, and of course you know the rest” he sighed “and to an ultimate no less, I really am disappointing…” Hajime seemed taken aback by his sudden dark tone but Izuru hardly blinked at this, they did take note of his self deprecating language however.
So he had pulled Izuru’s hair in an attempt to stop falling, perhaps he wasn't thinking properly, either way they were still on the ground and students were starting to stare even more than usual. Izuru stood up and brushed themself off and attempted to dust the dirt out of their hair and held out a hand to the boy. He hesitantly reached out to take Izurus hand and was promptly pulled up off the concrete. Izuru noticed a paper on the ground and bent down to pick it up and read it, it wasn't his or Hajime’s, the name written on it was ‘Nagito Komaeda’. They looked up at the boy and offered him the paper “Komaeda?” he, Nagito apparently, jumped slightly at his name “ah yes, that's me.” He grabbed the paper and bowed to Izuru in thanks.
“Thank you and sorry again.” he brushed past and showed his paper to the man at the gate and hurried into the school. Hajime sighed as Izuru also showed the man their paper “what a weirdo” they continued in towards the building “rather weird than boring” hajime chuckled “sounds like something another weirdo would say” izuru glanced at him “sounds like something someone boring would say”
Hajime feigned offence “wow, mean, im super interesting” “yeah, keep telling yourself that” Izuru kept walking forward without Hajime “Zuru, wait up” he quickened his pace to meet his sibling’s
Hajime was talking about something, but Izuru didn't hear, they were thinking of that boy, Nagito, he reminded them of marshmallow fluff but his speech didn’t reflect that. But what was odd was that Nagito was a lucky student, Izuru read the letter, an unlucky lucky student. What was even more odd however was that this Nagito's bad luck had affected them, but they did not let this bother them, it seemed they would have plenty of time to ponder this.
So off the two went, entering the school together for the first time, Izuru had no true expectations of the year to come, they expected a school year like any other. That thought soon changed after the orientation when they noticed their dorm was right next to marshmallow boy, so maybe, they had something interesting to look forward to after all.
