Say A~ah!

Summary:

Tori can safely conclude that Yuzuru has a little bit of a sweet tooth.

Notes:

I was planning on posting a bunch of drafts but realized... a lot of them have to do with Yuzuru's birthday for some reason? So I guess I'll have to let them sit a little longer lol

Work Text:

“I'm back~,” Tori calls into the dorm with his usual charming air, stepping through the room's threshold and toeing his shoes off. He can hear the quiet raps of a keyboard come to a halt.

“Welcome back, Bocchama,” Yuzuru replies. He’s seated at his desk on the right half of the dorm, angling his head back to look at him.

It’s a relief to see his boyfriend’s face after a long day. Tori likes the kudos and overall attention from the producers he’s been working with lately, sure, but there's a different, way more gratifying feeling when Yuzuru is the one acknowledging him instead.

In light of this, Tori may or may not have spent an extra hour scrutinizing the glass displays of one of his favorite sweets shops. He spent a while looking for something that Yuzuru would be sure to enjoy. Not just something he’ll nod politely about and smile at, because Tori knows that schtick by now, but the kind that he’ll eat and really think something like, “Delicious!”, or whatever that guy actually has going on up in his head.

He’s a pretty open shut case to the untrained eye. Yuzuru might look easy to please, but Tori has seen it all. He appreciates the occasional sweet almost as much as Tori does. Maybe Yuzuru has a lot more self-control than Tori, but he does enjoy them! When they lived back at home, Yuzuru was always lingering around the kitchen and even baked Tori snacks from time to time. He definitely wasn’t born a baker, (or a chef for that matter, but that’s a whole other issue), but Yuzuru is quick on the uptake. He’s improved tenfold since he started those years ago, especially with Tori’s favorite baked treats. You have to taste your own food to know whether or not it’s good, right? Baking all the time like that, he couldn’t have done it without being a little fond of sweet stuff. Not just that, though.

When they end up running an errand at the store together, He’ll occasionally be witness to Yuzuru reaching for the same brand of cherry-flavored hard candies at the checkout line. Tori knows they’re definitely not for him, because they’re the kind of cherry flavor that's just slightly sour, and Tori hates sour things. (He’s tried one before. They’re horrible. He considers himself to be more of a chocolate person, any of Yuzuru’s complaints about the calories fall deaf on his ears.) That aside, Tori knows those are his favorites, even if he never actually sees Yuzuru eat them. They sit at the corner of his desk in a little decorative bowl and slowly drain away with time, and it’s not like Yuzuru’s the kind of guy to carry candy around to hand it out.

With all of this knowledge, Tori can safely conclude that Yuzuru has a little bit of a sweet tooth.

So today he decided on these strawberry flavored guimauves. He’s had guimauves before — maybe not this exact flavor, but he has. They were sold out of the kind he’d usually go for and there wasn’t a cherry-flavored one either, so it had to be strawberry. It’s a little bit of a shot in the dark, but when have his instincts failed him before? He has an excellent eye for products made for elite people, like himself and also Yuzuru, so surely it’s something Yuzuru will like. Probably. He just hopes Papa doesn't have any questions about the charges on his credit card.

The plastic of the bag crinkles as he goes about arranging his shoes next to Yuzuru’s, which happens to draw his interest.

“Did you stop somewhere on your way back?” He inquires, twisting backward in his seat.

Tori replies with an enthusiastic nod, before making his approach from across the dormitory. He pauses next to Yuzuru’s desk and reaches inside of the bag for his purchase.

“Close your eyes, ‘kay?”

Yuzuru gives him a curious look but decides not to question it. His eyes close as requested.

“Okay.”

“Good,” Tori praises, retrieving the sweet and peeling the packaging away with haste. “Now, say a~ah, it’s gonna be tasty, I picked it out.”

Yuzuru, much to his chagrin, makes a strained face at his words, but ultimately complies.

Tori grips the marshmallow with his index finger and thumb, slowly inching the front half of it into Yuzuru’s mouth. “Now bite it.”

After he (tentatively) bites and chews a portion of the candy, his eyes flutter back open.

“Yummy?”

Yuzuru nods, still chewing. He’s covering his mouth with the back of his hand and looking a little out of place. It’s not an expression of disgust however, Tori is pretty familiar with this one. Despite his attempt to shelter his face, Tori can tell by the reddening tips of his ears that Yuzuru is flustered. Tori laughs at the sight, popping the uneaten half of candy into his own mouth.

It’s sweet and especially fluffy, but there's some kind of tart undertone to it. It’s not something he would usually go out of his way to eat, but he likes it anyways. Even with the bitter aftertaste, Tori finds himself resisting the urge to go for the other one. The taste reminds him of something Yuzuru would bake. It’s definitely his style.

After a moment, Yuzuru collects himself. “Thank you. I’m always grateful to you, Bocchama.”

Tori narrows his eyes. “Tori,” he corrects. He gets that Yuzuru's still got the butler thing going on even if they’re dating, but it’s nice to hear his actual name once in a while. Nonchalantly, he continues. “It’s only a marshmallow, so don’t get so worked up over it.”

There's a brief lull before Tori gives in to the praise, despite his scolding in the moments prior. “Well, it’s only fair you’d want to thank me, I’m just naturally generous, right?”

Yuzuru smiles; the kind that makes Tori’s chest feel all stuffy and weird. “My apologies, Tori. You’re right. You’re always considering me — I’m truly happy.”

Tori’s face is the one heating up now. “Oh. Yeah?”

He doesn’t give Yuzuru the chance to expand on that. He redirects his gaze over at the other’s still open laptop. “By the way, are you working on something? It isn’t school work, is it?”

Yuzuru shakes his head. “No, I’m just writing a few emails.” He pauses to save the one he’s writing as a draft. “Why?”

Tori shuts the laptop then and slides it out of the way. He places his bag down in the newly emptied spot. “Because I still have more candy to share,” he explains, stepping into Yuzuru’s space and clambering into his lap. Yuzuru accepts him without question.

“As much as I cherish all my time with you, I get the feeling that you haven’t eaten dinner yet.”

Tori might have won the war for Yuzuru’s attention, but apparently, he isn’t cleared on the no-desert-before-dinner war. Yet. “Ugh. I knew you’d say that. Look Yuzuru, just one more~,” he pleads, reaching into the bag for something else.

Yuzuru obliges. “Just one more, and I get to look at the nutrition label on the back.”

“Yeah yeah, whatever,” Tori mumbles, already busy with ripping the foil off of a truffle this time. He shifts around from his place in Yuzuru’s lap to face him now, raising the chocolate to his face. “Say a~ah again, Yuzuru~.”
