Chapter Text
When Mirko said that she wanted to take a nap after getting home, she was being serious. She powered through her shower and she powered through making her dinner. She wasn’t expecting a guest. She honestly lacked the mental capacity of holding a conversation. So when the door suddenly had a heavy fist banging on it, Mirko was up her bed and taking her metal bat with her.
She can only apologize to her darling Husky for ruining her sleep schedule. She swears to avenge her companion later on. After she gives the one on the other side a stern talking to.
Mirko, in with her fuzzy and soft pajamas, uncombed hair, and angry red eyes, marched to the loud banging, yanking it open with her mouth open and bat raised high, ready to give whoever they are a piece of her mind.
Her irritation shriveled up the moment she saw Endeavor on the other side with what looked to be one of the most deadpan looks she has ever seen from the man.
“Your chickadee boyfriend has landed himself in trouble,” she hears him state gravely.
...
Well fuck.
...
“He’s not my boyfriend,” Mirko retorts, knowing what Endeavor thinks.
He just huffs in amusement, like the prick he is.
What a fucking bastard.

Midoriya was not expecting to be called into Principal Nezu’s office that morning. He’s in the cafeteria with Shoji, Tokoyami, and Jiro when Aizawa crawled in as a caterpillar and told him to follow.
He carries Book Three with him, this time without any code written on it by Hawks. He frowns as he stares at it. “ Take a break,” he says. Tsk. Midoriya can 100% take care of himself without Hawks babying him.
Midoriya stares at Aizawa as he rolls around with his sleeping bag. He’s curious as to why the yellow never seems to be dirtied. He shakes his head. No. This is none of his business.
Aizawa stares at him with expectant eyes as he looks at the intimidatingly large door of the Principal’s office. He reaches to knock, but before he makes contact, a speaker on the side buzzes.
“Midoriya-kun. Come in,” the voice of the Principal sounds out. Midoriya gulps before looking at Aizawa-sensei, who stares dispassionately as he’s made to wait. Apparently, it took too long because the door opened by itself, likely by the rat’s doing.
“Midoriya-kunnn,” Principal Nezu drawls as Midoriya steps in, waiting for Aizawa-sensei. “I said come in~”
“I’m already here, Principal,” Midoriya narrows his eyes. “What is this about?”
Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Aizawa-sensei step out of his sleeping bag, glaring at Midoriya for his lack of respect. He frowns as a strange individual whispers something to the Principal. He recognizes the costume. One of Hawks’ sidekicks. He coughs into a fist before speaking up.
“Midoriya-kun, I’ll be frank. Hawks, Sir Nighteye, and Endeavor spoke very highly of you. How would you like to work with us part time?” The sidekick smiles with encouragement. “The principal here has agreed to give you the offer so long as you tell him the necessary details of your mission.”
Midoriya pauses and narrows his eyes in doubt.
“Hawks wants to hire me? Pro Hero Hawks?” He was nudged by Aizawa-sensei again. The book that he was carrying suddenly feels heavy. He sees the sidekick wince.
“Not...exactly…” He starts. “Hawks is a bit preoccupied with a mission right now.”
“Then who ?” Aizawa-sensei demands. Nezu just gives him a look before staring at the sidekick to continue.
“Mirko. Hawks wants you to work with Mirko. Endeavor has already given the go ahead to give you time with her so long as you’re back for a report with Burnin.”
The people of the room gave a pause to take this in.
“Why did Endeavor-san speak with you and not me?” Midoriya asks. The sidekick gives another wince.
“Endeavor is a bit...preoccupied right now as well…”
The other three just stared at him in question.

“If your son really wants to have you know…”
“For the last time, he is not my son .”
“Fine. If your descendant wants to have you know…”
Toshinori sighs. He swears on his mother’s grave that Endeavor genuinely is doing this on purpose, but he can’t tell. Ever since Midoriya has worked with Endeavor, something has changed. More secrets, more on his successor’s side than his this time, are being kept from one another. Is this how Young Midoriya’s mother feels? He should really tell her about One for All. He can feel the strain of their relationship becoming taut.
“...he would come to you himself. Do not ask me to involve myself in your relationship,” Endeavor finishes. Endeavor and Toshinori were in one of the private rooms of UA after he invited him for tea. “Besides, you do, in fact, have to provide papers as his parent before asking me to spill any classified information. It’s standard protocol.”
“How come I’ve never heard of this?” All Might doubtfully asks.
“One of the pros of being the Number One for 40 years is that you haven’t been informed of the newer laws that do not concern you,” Endeavor replies, smiling unkindly.
“...”
“...”
“You just want proof that I’m his father now, don’t you?”
Endeavor sips his tea.
“I didn’t say anything.”
Toshinori sighs.

“So your father is visiting UA…”
“Yup.”
“And you want me to help you…”
“Yes.”
“ Why? ”
“Because. You’re the one he least expects.”
“Your father expects you to send people to spy on him on the regular?”
“This concerns Midoriya as well. You want information on 1A, right?”
“Duh. Why would you possibly sabotage your class though?”
“I see this as less of a rivalry and more of a business deal. Get me information on Midoriya and I’ll tell you the 1A rankings for the exams.”
“ Deal. ”

“So far, the schedule we have planned involves a rotation between Hawks, Endeavor, and Mirko. You already know this, but both Endeavor and Hawks have their hands full as the new Number 1 and Number 2 of Japan. Mirko is the only one they both trust to take care of you, but as someone who is notorious for working alone, she unfortunately doesn’t have enough credibility to handle a child.” The sidekick scratches at his gloves, likely out of habit.
“Then why her and why not anyone else? It seems as though this will only ruin Midoriya’s overall performance by overworking him. Moreover, the inconsistency of three very busy pro heroes all watching and critiquing him at the same time could do more harm than good,” Aizawa cuts off. “It doesn’t matter who Endeavor and Hawks trust. Mirko lacks experience and tact. This wouldn’t benefit Midoriya in the least.”
The sidekick just looks helplessly at the student and the principal.
“In addition to that, the only way this would actually help him is with managing his time, but around three weeks ago, Midoriya suddenly started acting differently, which I’ll still hold him to,” Aizawa adds, glaring at Midoriya who shrunk in his seat. “And this is starting to look like Endeavor just throwing his intern at his workmates and hoping for the best. Why Midoriya? Why not Bakugou or Todoroki?”
The bird-themed pro hero just gulped at the look Eraserhead is sending him.

There was never a more annoying moment to Endeavor than when he had to deal with All Might being obnoxious, but staring at the man he once saw as a rival, he just felt sympathy. Disgusting.
It seems as though both of them are having troubles with their families. He would like to admit that he was envious of Mirko and Hawks, less of being in their prime and more of them being free of responsibility. They could do what they wanted that the older pro heroes couldn’t do. They don’t have to deal with the inevitable chronic pain that came with the job.
And the child of the man in front of him already has to because Midoriya lacked training on day one. It really does paint a less than perfect picture, but Endeavor can deal with it.
“I am worried, alright? He is hiding things from me.”
“As a father of four and as someone whose current oldest is 22, this is normal.”
“Endeavor, please .”
“Not unless you bring the boy’s mother or you show me your papers, no.”
Enji had to admit. Pissing off All Might, someone who is normally jovial and bright as hell, was kinda fun. He hands All Might a handkerchief when he coughs blood, wincing as the man coughs painfully.
Yeah, he would make sure that his little intern won’t end up like his father.

The glare of one Eraserhead is enough to make any prisoner pee their pants in interrogation. Luckily for him, Haru is no prisoner.
“How about we wait for Endeavor to show up?”
Nezu smiles as the tension seems to disappear in an instant. Midoriya narrows his eyes at the seemingly innocent grin. He was doing this on purpose. He mentally sighs at the principal’s antics.
“Speaking of Endeavor-san, where is he exactly?” Midoriya tilts his head curiously, as if he were a child. Judging by how Nezu’s eyes sharpened, he caught on.
“All Might wanted to see him.”
And with that, the temperature of the room went cold.
“What do you mean by ‘ All Might wanted to see him’ exactly?”

Endeavor, after some unfortunate pleading, even throwing in a little “I have always respected you,” much to the damage to his pride, has finally been able to convince All Might to follow him to Principal Nezu’s meeting. Despite the blond oaf being a bit dense, he has no doubt that he’s actually quite intelligent. You’d have to be to stay in the top ten without a sidekick for a year, even moreso as someone who has survived past half a decade.
Which is why he managed to reign in his anger at being distracted and late. The man is clearly not in his A-game and he’s learned that anger would lead to nowhere with people like him.
He managed to notice a student run past a corner when they noticed him, however.

The four occupants of the room tensed at the heavy knocking on the door. When Nezu checked the cameras, he saw both Endeavor and All Might outside. He lets them in by opening the doors, greeting them with a big smile.
“Ah, I see you were both a bit preoccupied. Don’t worry. We will have our discussion starting now,” Nezu did not miss the indignant look Aizawa tossed him. “But first, Aizawa-kun, please step outside. We will be discussing matters classified to you, unfortunately.”
That indignant look morphed into betrayal.
“Eraserhead...I-” The sidekick flinches at the sudden attention given to him. “The principal has already agreed to the deal…” Aizawa pinches the bridge of his nose.
“Fine, but if I find out that you agreed to unfavorable terms, I will involve myself.”
“Dearest former student of mine, have you not learned?” Nezu’s eyes glint. “I am a devil and a devil does not do unfavorable.”
The people of the room shudder at his words.
