Campfire

Summary:

Once and a while it was nice to just relax and imagine that they weren't actually being chased by stand users trying to kill them.

Notes:

So this was inspired by the picture of Jotaro and Kakyoin found here: http://tangooooooooo.tumblr.com/day/2015/02/05/ (You can also find them on pixiv here: http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=3296515) If you like their art make sure to reblog not repost!! Reposting without permission is a shitty thing to do, show your love by giving the art exposure through reblogs and likes. c:

Also Im looking for a beta for any future jojo works I'll probably do? I dont write much but if youre willing to do like a once in a while sorta thing I'd be so thankful!!! (Who knows maybe having a beta will get me to write more)

Work Text:

Kakyoin was mulling around, searching for the first aid kit when he heard Avdol call the group for supper. Earlier the Egyptian man had said he was making a very popular dish from Egypt called Molokheyyah. According to Avdol he would never live up to his grandmother's version of the dish, but he was certain the group would enjoy it. “One minute!” He called back, quickly rummaging through their bags to find the kit.

Smiling triumphantly, he held up the kit, before jogging back towards the campfire. He noticed Polnareff already inhaling the soup claiming that it some of the best food he'd ever eating towards a rather embarrassed Avdol. Joseph was busy laughing at Polnareff's excitement, he too congratulating Avdol on a job well done. Finally, Kakyoin's eyes settled on Jotaro who was busy cleaning out the wound on his arm with a cloth. The redhead sat down beside Jotaro opening up the kit, and pulling out the bandages. “Here.” He said, gesturing for Jotaro to give him his arm.

The other looked at him, before shaking his head. “I can do it myself.”

Rolling his eyes, Kakyoin handed the bandages over. “Suit yourself. I'll get us some food.”

Jotaro hummed, beginning the struggle of putting a bandage onto his arm with only one hand. Kakyoin grabbed two bowls and filled them up before heading back to Jotaro, missing the knowing look in Avdol's eyes. “How's that working for you?” He quipped at the other teenager, watching him struggle with the bandage.

Glaring at Kakyoin, Jotaro simply muttered “fine” before going back to concentrating on the bandages. With a laugh, Kakyoin set the bowls down on the ground, careful not to stir up too much sand in the fear it would get in the food and ruin it. As he slowly ate his soup (which Polnareff was right in declaring that it was delicious), he watched Jotaro give up and summon Star Platinum to help him start the bandage. Once he got going however, the stand was dismissed, fading away into the night sky. “I could've helped you know, it would have gone a lot faster.”

Jotaro shrugged, looking a little sheepish, too proud to admit Kakyoin was right. Snorting, Kakyoin took a spoonful of soup and offered it to Jotaro. “Here, try it.”

“Seriously?” Jotaro asked, looking at the spoon as if its mere existence was offensive.

Instead of warranting Jotaro with a reply, Kakyoin brought the spoon closer to the other teenager's mouth, waiting. Flushing slightly in embarrassment Jotaro reluctantly took the offered spoon. “ I'm not a child...”

“Same.” Kakyoin replied, offering another spoonful to Jotaro.

Seemingly giving up, Jotaro let Kakyoin feed him as he wrapped up his arm. On the other side of the campfire, the rest of the team had gone quiet, watching the two teens interact. Polnareff leaned over, “whispering” to Avdol. “That's kinda cute ya know.”

Avdol rolled his eyes, shushing Polnareff. “Leave them be. Let's retire for the night we can deal with the dishes in the morning.”

“Alright, alright. Maybe we should be pick up some condoms in the next city – ow!”

Polnareff rubbed the back his head glaring at Joseph who had smacked him. “Aw man with the metal hand, really? That shit hurts you know.”

“Maybe you shouldnt be so vulgar then!” Joseph shot back before heading into a separate tent from Avdol and Polnareff.

Little did they know, the two teens had overheard their entire conversation. Kakyoin had stopped feeding Jotaro to watch the three of them leave. “If Polnareff does that I swear to god I'll make sure he never has kids.” He grumbled, a little red in the face.

Jotaro, adjusted his hat, avoiding eye contact with Kakyoin. “Good grief...” He said, trying to hide his reddened cheeks.

Sighing, Kakyoin stood up to collect the dishes and neatly pile them up so they would ready to be washed the next day. As he stood up he felt arms wrap around his midsection as Jotaro rested his chin on the others shoulder. Smiling, Kakyoin turned around in Jotaro's arms so he could hug the other back. “Thanks Nori...” Jotaro mumbled into Kakyoin's shoulder.

“No problem, next time I'll help you with the bandages as well, okay?” He said, reaching to gently stroke Jotaro's hair.

Jotaro hummed, closing his eyes and simply enjoying the moment. “We should extinguish the fire and get to bed...” He said in a rather unenthusiastic manner.

Kakyoin laughed, moving out of the hug and giving Jotaro a quick kiss. “True, go set up the bed rolls I'll deal with the fire.”

With a nod of agreement, Jotaro headed towards their tent as Kakyoin went to dump water on their fire. After he was sure the fire was completely out, he headed to the tent where Jotaro had just finished laying out the bed rolls. Kakyoin stripped down, grabbing his pajamas from his clothing bag, and quickly changing into them. Jotaro on the other hand just stripped down into boxers, laying his clothing and hat off to the side. The pair climbed underneath the blankets, Kakyoin already missing the warmth from the fire. “You would expect a desert night to be warm...” He complained, shivering slightly.

Jotaro chuckled, wrapping his arms around the other and pulling him close. “Goodnight Noriaki.” He whispered, placing a kiss on top of the others head.

“Goodnight Jojo...” Replied Kakyoin as he huddled up close to Jotaro.

Any danger could wait for another day Kakyoin decided as he lay with Jotaro, slowly drifting off into sleep.
