Chapter Text
“Yamaguchi, are you ready?” Tsukishima called out.
“Yeah, give me a minute!” Yamaguchi replied. The both of them were going out to a friend’s party after a hectic week at university. Finally, a night where the both of them are not cramming for tests the next day. A night of peace and relaxation. Yamaguchi had half his hair tied up in a man bun, with half of it dyed green and the other half bleached. He had put on a plain black t-shirt with a pair of loose jeans. Yamaguchi had specifically taken that tee because it showed off his new half sleeve tattoo. He had been showing it off to Tsukishima the day he got it. He had a few piercings on his ears – an industrial on his right ear, double lobe piercings on both ears, and a helix piercing on his left ear – of course, he was hoping to get more piercings soon. He had worn some chains and clipped on accessories to his jeans. Lastly, he was wearing his favourite pair of customised Converse shoes.
Tsukishima, on the other hand, was wearing a plain white t-shirt. He was wearing a leather jacket over it and a pair of baggy jeans to match his boyfriend. Yamaguchi walked over to Tsukishima and pushed his mouth open with his thumb.
“Hm, it hasn’t healed yet.” Yamaguchi sighed out. “I was wondering when we would be able to kiss so that I could feel it. Guess I’d have to wait longer now.” Yamaguchi smirked. The tip of Tsukishima’s ears and nose went a soft red.
“Y-Yams, we should be leaving for the party.” Tsukishima stuttered, obviously flustered by what the other boy had stated earlier. He was still not used to how bold Yamaguchi had become when they both had entered university. The boys head out of their dormitory. The venue of the party was only 5 minutes away. The host of the party was none other than Tetsurou Kuroo, an old friend of both Yamaguchi and Tsukishima. He had a massive house which caused him to have parties every other week. His parents saw him be reliable so they always trusted him when he threw parties.
“Tsukki, do you see Hinata and Kageyama over there?” Yamaguchi pointed with his thumb towards them. Hinata and Kageyama, both rising volleyball stars, were seen outside of Kuroo’s house with a cup each in their hand. They had recently come out to their fans and the public and were living their best life in Singapore. It had been Hinata’s sister’s dream to live in Singapore ever since she was young, and now her older brother and his fiancé had finally made her dreams come to reality. However, now, Hinata and Kageyama had been called by Kuroo for a reunion party in Tokyo. All the former volleyball players were there as well.
“Yamaguchi! Tsukishima!” Hinata shouted and waved them over. It had been quite some time since the four of them had met. When Tsukishima and Yamaguchi had walked over, Hinata had started bouncing on his feet. “How are you guys? It has been so long!” Yamaguchi let out a small giggle. He knew how excited Hinata was to see them; he had been expressing it in their group chat. They walked into the house as they made some small conversations with each other. Tsukishima, however, looked like he wanted to be anywhere else than listen to Hinata ramble about how long it had been since the 4 of them met.
“Finally, the four of you came!” Kuroo exclaimed. “We all have been waiting for you for so long.” “Ah, that is my fault, Kuroo. I was busy getting ready for the party.” Yamaguchi explained, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. Kuroo laughed, of course, Yamaguchi always took a long time getting dressed, it was no surprise. Kuroo handed the four of them drinks but Kageyama declined.
“Have to maintain shape and keep fit,” Kageyama explained. “The coach doesn’t want our liver to die on us in the future.” “C’mon babe, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, well not really a lifetime, but you get what I mean! Just loosen up a bit, how long has it been since you’ve had a drink, hm?” Hinata replied. “No, we both know that you plan to drink. I need to be sober to take care of you. You have fun, I’ll watch you.” Kageyama said. The couple bantered for a while more, the scene was quite amusing to watch. Finally, Hinata caved in and listened to Kageyama.
More people came, the ambience of the party was just right for Tadashi. He was about to get another bottle of beer when he saw it. He rubbed his eyes multiple times, unable to believe that what he saw was true. There was a prickly feeling at the back of his eyes, his throat started hurting. He tried clearing it multiple times but that funny feeling was still there. He felt his whole world crumbling down, again. Just like how it had happened years ago when his mother had left him. His boyfriend, Kei Tsukishima, was kissing and touching another girl. Yamaguchi’s hands started trembling and he was struggling to breathe. Tears were falling down his face as he picked up bottles and locked himself in one of Kuroo’s many rooms.
Tsukishima, his childhood friend, his boyfriend of two years, the person he trusted himself with was downstairs kissing some other person's lips. He chuckled out bitterly, how the world could be cruel sometimes. He questioned what he did in his last life to be suffering so much. The bottles soon became empty one after the other. Yamaguchi had lost his sense of time, he could barely even decipher where he was. A couple sudden came bustling in, completely ignoring that Yamaguchi was sitting on the side of the bed with bottles surrounding him. Yamaguchi hated what he was hearing, and left the room. He closed the door and walked for a bit before bumping into someone and collapsing onto them.
“O-oh, I’m so.. sorry. Um, yeah, sorry. I didn’t see you there.” Yamaguchi stuttered. Through his drunken haze, he could see someone, a boy with soft brown hair wearing a black graphic tee shirt with the word “ABBA” printed on it. Paired with that, the boy had work faded blue jeans with a chain attached to them.
The boy let out a laugh. “Don’t worry about it. Hey, you look like you need some help, why don’t I help you sober up and if you want we can talk about what’s bothering you.” The boy offered. Yamaguchi did not know what he did in his past life to deserve this, but he silently thanked himself for bumping into a seemingly nice person. The pair walked to the kitchen and the boy got a glass of water for Yamaguchi to drink to help him sober up. Tadashi took the glass after muttering thanks, 5 glasses down and he seemed sober enough to talk.
