Work Text:
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Jimin whispered to his other two companions.
“Someone had to do it,” Jungkook whispered back at the same time Taehyung exclaimed, “If they went on like they are for any longer, I would have lost it!”
The three of them sprinted down the school hallway, panting harshly as they rounded the corner. Jungkook held his arm up and waved it around triumphantly.
“At least we have the keys and they don't!”
-
The entire adventure started, surprisingly enough, not with the rambunctious trio of high school seniors, but rather with a teacher. Mr. Kim, or rather, Kim Seokjin, was possibly the most unorthodox and untraditional teacher there ever was. The man taught a variety of drama classes, one of which Jungkook, Jimin, and Taehyung decided to take together for the fun of it. Mr. Kim was not only popular because of his absolutely stunning face, but also due to his teaching.
He embodied the drama class perfectly. Mr. Kim’s personality was positive, bubbly, and insanely likable. Not to mention that he was a part of the younger half of the school staff, making him naturally more approachable. He didn't hide parts of himself in front of his students and was a huge sucker for gossip not only between the students, but also between the teachers. Obviously, he was the first to be pulled into the drama between his fellow coworkers.
Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook got dragged into it not long after. It happened one day when the trio decided to stay after school and help Mr. Kim clean up his classroom after a chaotic class period.
“Did you hear about the new drama around Namjoonie and Yoongi?” Mr. Kim had mentioned it offhand mentioned.
“You mean Dr. Kim and Mr. Min?” Jimin clarified.
“Yeah, yeah,” Jin waved him off, never being one to use proper honorifics after school hours. “I could totally see them being together.”
“Together?!” Taehyung exclaimed.
“I don't know where you're getting this from, Mr. Kim. Mr. Min hates Dr. Kim’s guts,” Jungkook shivered, remembering the last time Dr. Kim had dropped a huge stack of papers right in front of where Mr. Min was walking. The latter had stared at the mess in complete silence for a good minute before sighing, throwing his hands up, and walking away without a word. Somehow, Mr. Min’s silence was even more threatening than the judgemental and angry comments he would normally make at everyone around him.
“Ah… do you three really believe that?” Mr. Kim chuckled. The trio nodded solemnly at him.
“I mean this with utmost respect, but Mr. Min doesn't give anyone the time of day… especially those who interrupt him or slow him down somehow. On the other hand, Dr. Kim is one of the most patient people we've ever met. Not to mention, the clumsiest. It would never work out,” Taehyung reasoned.
“Nah, Yoongichi would never hurt a fly. Besides, think about it. Yoongi has such an explosive temper that no one would ever be able to deal with him. Namjoon, like you said, is the most patient person like.. ever. If anyone would be able to date Yoongi and stay sane, it would be Namjoon.”
They finished cleaning up pretty quickly after that, and the three students waved goodbye to Mr. Kim. Mr. Kim most likely forgot about their conversation in a week, having moved on to the newest drama around. However, the idea of getting their two teachers together stuck around in the minds of the trio. From there on, their grand scheme began.
-
The first step in their plan was to observe. It was imperative to find out the current relationship between Mr. Min and Dr. Kim to see if they even had a shot at putting them together. Luckily, Both Taehyung and Jimin had signed up for Dr. Kim’s AP literature class, and Jungkook was involved in Mr. Min’s AP music production.
Jimin and Taehyung decided to spy around. In the hallways before and after school, they would discreetly try to follow Dr. Kim around. In classrooms, they would scrutinize from a distance any time the two teachers would interact. Between passing periods. they would observe the way Dr. Kim and Mr. Min walked past each other. Every interaction, word spoken, and even glance between the two didn't escape Jimin’s and Taehyung’s watchful gazes.
On the other hand, Jungkook’s approach to Mr. Min was a lot more blunt.
“Mr. Min, could I ask you a question?” Jungkook asked one day.
“Mm,” Mr. Min had replied, not looking up from his laptop, where he was typing something down.
“What is your opinion of Dr. Kim?”
Mr. Min had looked up at him then, with his eyebrow raised. “I don't see how this is related in any way to music theory.”
“It's not, but-”
“If it’s not, why are you asking the question?” Mr. Min turned his attention back to his laptop. “Did you finish the assignment?”
“No, but-”
Mr. Min had then stared back at him so scrutinizingly that Jungkook felt himself get smaller in fear. Everyone knew how much Mr. Min hated his students being distracted and not doing their work. While his class was interesting and he made his lessons fun, he never tolerated slackers or procrastinators. After that, Jungkook brought his head down in shame, turned around, and promptly walked himself to his seat. So much for that plan, he thought.
The group chat the three of them created to store their observations of the two teachers went a little bit like this:
-
Taehyung:
Dr. Kim and Mr. Min walked past each other a total of 5 times today
Dr. Kim looked at Mr. Min 4 of those times, but Mr. Min didn't look at him once
Jimin:
I saw Dr. Kim stop Mr. Min on his way into the teacher’s lounge and whisper something to him
Mr. Min nodded after that and left and Dr. Kim smiled at him
Jungkook:
Mr. Min is scary.
( Two days later)
Taehyung:
Major drama today
Dr. Kim was walking out of the teacher’s lounge
He tripped over air when he saw Mr. Min coming into the lounge
OBVIOUSLY he spilled his entire coffee straight onto Mr. Min
And Mr. Min didnt even give a reaction like wth he just stood there
tbh idk what's scarier: mr. min’s yelling or his silence
Jungkook:
his yelling.
T_T
Jimin:
poor jungkookie
Taehyung:
so then mr. min turned around and left and i saw him later through a window
he was getting a spare change of clothes (i think) from his car
but like he didn't even say anything to dr. kim??? he just waved his arms in disappointment and left???
Jimin:
Dr. kim went into the lounge to get paper towels but by the time he came out mr. min was already gone
-
Yeah. They didn't get much evidence at all.
However, the three friends didn't let this deter them and decided to proceed to the next part of their plan: moving the two teachers closer together. At one point, they even got the rest of their class hooked on the idea that Mr. Min and Dr. Kim should go out together.
They didn't have much of a plan to actually execute, considering Dr. Kim and Mr. Min were from completely different departments, but they thought a bit of lying wouldn't harm anyone. And so they called their next plan “Jealousy”
“Jungkook said Mr. Min has been looking happier these past few days,” Taehyung loudly exclaimed to Jimin as Dr. Kim walked by their table. The entire class was working on a project, and were therefore free to chat amongst themselves. Dr. Kim really didn't care what they did during the class period. In fact, he encouraged his students to take breaks between working to socialize, as he believed communication to be the most important part of his curriculum. So long as the project was turned in on time, he didn't care when it was done.
“You think he scored himself a date?” Jimin replied, even louder. This seemed to gain the attention of Dr. Kim, who stopped in his tracks and turned to face them.
“Maybe. Hey, Dr. Kim?”
“Yes, Taehyung?” Dr. Kim walked over to their table.
“Do you know why Mr. Min has been looking happier these days?”
“I may have a hunch.”
“Really?!” Jimin perked up in surprise. “What is it?”
“However, Mr. Min’s personal life is none of your concern. I think he would appreciate it if you didn't spread rumors about him to other students,” Dr. Kim immediately shut them down.
“Awww,” Taehyung pouted as Dr. Kim walked away.
-
Back in their drama classroom, the trio decided to ask Mr. Kim of his opinion on this.
“Mr. Kim,” Jungkook asked after class.
“What's up?”
“Mr. Min’s been looking happier these past few days. Do you think he got a date with someone?”
“A date? Mmm, highly unlikely, but possible,” Mr. Kim furrowed his brows in thought. “I can just ask him.”
Mr. Kim proceeded to pull his phone out and open his chat with Mr. Min, typing out a message. A few seconds later, the trio heard a ding sound from Mr. Kim’s phone.
“Did he reply?” Jimin curiously peeked at the phone.
“Yeah, he said ‘No. Shut up. Leave me alone,’” Mr. Kim read aloud with a laugh. “Oh, he totally got a date.”
“Really?? That's what you got from that text?” Jungkook asked, skeptical.
“I've been working with Yoongichi for like a century, mmkay? That man only denies things aggressively when they're true and he's shy about it.”
“Oh.”
-
Taehyung:
So Mr. Min has a date?
Jungkook:
yep
Jimin:
we don't know with who though
Jungkook:
i'm willing to bet it was a blind date
no one in their right mind would know mr. min personally and ask him out
Taehyung:
true dat
Jimin:
oh cmon guys, he's not that bad
Jungkook:
i get shivers every time he looks in my direction.
i think he IS that bad.
Taehyung:
ive seen the way he talks to students it's so scary
Jimin:
okay but he only talks that way when students are slacking off or not doing what they should be
Jungkook:
u haven't even taken one of his classes how would u know that
Jimin:
idk he just seems like a marshmallow to me… a burnt marshmallow
Taehyung:
bruh are u in love with him or smth
Jungkook:
yeah no tf
Jimin:
i'm not…. but if we can prove that he's not a mean person, then a certain someone might eventually be
Taehyung:
who???
Jungkook:
tae- the entire reason we have this chat is to put dr. kim and mr. min together, remember??
Taehyung:
ohhhh
Jimin:
OH MA GAWD BREAKING NEWS
Taehyung:
WHAT
DID THE CAFETERIA BRING BACK THEIR GLAZED DONUTS???
Jimin:
I JUST WALKED PAST A CLASSROOM AND I SAW MR. MIN AND DR. KIM IN THERE TOGETHER
A L O N E.
Jungkook:
WHAT WERE THEY DOING
Jimin:
HOLD ON IT GETS MORE INTERESTING
MR. MIN WAS SMILING AT DR. KIM
Taehyung:
OKAY THATS IT
WE HAVE TO TAKE OUR PLAN TO THE NEXT PHASE
-
“Dr. Kim, could you get us more paper for our poster?” Jimin asked in the middle of class a few days later.
“Is there no more in the stack?”
“Nope.”
“Okay, I'll be right back.”
“Could we come with you?” Taehyung politely asked.
Dr. Kim looked between the two of them for a moment before shrugging and walking away to get his keys.
Meanwhile, Jungkook was in his music production class.
“Mr. Min, could I have more staff paper?”
“Was one sheet not enough for your composition?”
“Nope, I have so many ideas I want to write down that one sheet isn't enough.”
That was a total lie. Jungkook didn't even have half of his sheet filled out.
“I don't have any more.”
“Surely there's more in the supply closet, right?”
Mr. Min looked at Jungkook before sighing in defeat.
“If I give you my keys, can I trust that you will get the paper on your own and come straight back to class?” Mr. Min held his keys up in his hand.
“Students aren't allowed in storage closets by themselves, Mr. Min.”
The teacher simply groaned at him in return and reluctantly got up from his seat. Jungkook quickly texted in the group chat that he was on the move.
-
Jungkook:
going to the storage closet
Jimin:
k we’re gonna get moving then too
Taehyung:
k we got kim
going now
-
Completely coincidentally (read: totally by plan), Dr. Kim and Mr. Min ended up at the storage closet with the trio behind them at the same time.
“Oh! What're you doing here?” Dr. Kim smiled.
“Kid needed staff paper,” Mr. Min replied, unlocking the closet with his keys and handing them off to Jungkook to hold on to.
“Huh, me too,” Dr. Kim mentioned, moving into the closet right behind Mr. Min.
As soon as the two of them were fully inside, Jungkook grabbed the door handle and slammed the door shut. A loud ‘hey!’ and much quieter ’what the fuck?!’ could be heard from inside, but Jungkook paid it no mind as he hurriedly locked the door. The three friends could hear the lock rattling as the teachers tried to open the door to no avail.
“Run!” Jungkook whispered. The three of them sprinted through the hallways, only stopping to pant harshly once they were hidden behind a corner.
“This is absolutely crazy, we're going to get in so much trouble,” Jimin fretted.
“We're like two weeks from graduating, what are they going to do to us? Besides, if getting in trouble means helping two teachers overcome some very apparent sexual frustration, so be it,” Taehyung grinned.
“Ew!!” Jungkook frowned.
-
A week later found Mr. Min angrily storming into Mr. Kim’s last period drama class, where Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook were all located.
“Okay that's it!” He angrily yelled.
Every head in the classroom turned to look at him in fear, knowing how scary Mr. Min got when he was angry. However this time, he wasn't even angry. He was completely livid.
“We're fucked,” Jimin whispered to Jungkook and Taehyung as Mr. Min stated them dead in the eyes.
“Oooooh! Drama!!” Mr. Kim delightfully clapped his hands in the front of the classroom.
Mr. Min crossed his arms. “I'm done with whatever game you seniors are trying to play. Clearly, none of you understand the meaning of privacy, and all of you seem to be more invested in my personal life than in your studies.”
“What are you talking about, Mr. Min?” a student innocently asked. Everyone knew her innocence was fake; they clearly saw her get in on the scheming with the rest of the class.
“A large chunk of the students in mine and Dr. Kim’s classes have been repeatedly trying to set us up. Not only is that highly inappropriate, but-”
“Oh, that?” Taehyung interrupted. The entire class looked at him in bewilderment. Not only did Taehyung interrupt a scolding from a teacher, but he interrupted Mr. Min of all people. “That's completely old news, Mr. Min. We moved on from that. Right guys?”
A bunch of the students looked skeptical at what Taehyung was planning, but nodded nonetheless.
“Wh- moved on?” Mr. Min asked.
“Yeah. It really wasn't working out. Besides, Dr. Kim would look a lot cuter with Mr. Jung, don't you think so?”
A majority of the students nodded again, catching on to what Taehyung was doing. ‘Jealousy’
“Mr. Jung?” Mr. Min raised both of his eyebrows.
“Yeah! What was their ship name again?” A student asked.
“Kim… Jung… it's a work in progress,” Jungkook called out.
“What the fuck?” Mr. Min blurted out, not bothering to sensor himself. The students didn't even bat an eyelid.
“Besides, they are a lot friendlier with each other than you two, anyway. And compliment each other’s personalities a lot.” A female student spoke up.
“Tch. Compliment my ass,” Mr. Min rolled his eyes.
“Is there something wrong, Mr. Min?” Jungkook asked, knowing they would get a reaction very soon from the teacher.
“Nope, absolutely nothing. If you see Dr. Kim in the hallways, you can tell him that I'm keeping the house and the dog in the divorce and wish him a very happy future with Mr. Jung!” Mr. Min spit out.
The entire classroom was silent for a good minute as every student gaped at Mr. Min with their eyes wide open.
“Um… divorce??” Taehyung squeaked out.
“Oh my fucking god,” Mr. Min hid his face in his hands. “If I tell you all, do you promise to leave me alone and never speak of this again?” He scrutinizingly pointed his finger at all of the students in the classroom. Around him, 26 heads nodded simultaneously and eagerly at him.
“Ugh, fine,” Mr. Min bit out before reaching into the collar of his turtleneck and pulling out a golden chain with a ring on it. A wedding ring. “I'm very unfortunately bound for life in marriage to Kim Namjoon, happy now?”
The entire classroom was silent for another moment before an uproar began. Students were screaming, some were slamming their hands on their desks, others were yelling ‘I thought so!’. Meanwhile, Jimin, Jungkook, and Taehyung just sat there in shock. Absolutely no one expected this turn of events, especially since Mr. Min looked like he despised Dr. Kim.
“Aww!!” A new voice entered the room. The students turned around to see Dr. Kim himself at the doorway.
“The fuck are you doing here?” Mr. Min looked the other up and down.
“How could I not be here when you're waxing love poetry about me?”
“I'm not waxing po- get out of here! Don't come closer!”
Dr. Kim came closer, completely disregarding what Mr. Min was spewing. To the surprise of both Mr. Min and the students, Dr. Kim wrapped himself completely around the shorter teacher in a back hug.
“Besides, ‘very unfortunately bound?’ Don't lie, we both know you cried when I proposed.”
Everyone watched as Mr. Min’s face turned ridiculously red and he pushed himself away from Dr. Kim.
“Okay, that's enough of you. Out! Out!!” He grabbed Dr. Kim by the wrist and began dragging him out of the classroom. Before he left through the doorway, he yelled, “Detention! All of you!”
When the door slammed shut, the class remained silent, everyone's brains still processing what just went down.

BONUS!!! - later that day
Yoongi lay sprawled out on top of Namjoon, his head on the latter’s chest. One of the curtains in their bedroom was open and Yoongi could see the moon bright and high in the sky. Other than that, the entire house was dark. The only sounds in the room were those of Yoongi’s and Namjoon’s calm breathing as they basked in post-orgasmic haze and peace they didn't get often during the day.
Namjoon’s shirt was off and neither of them had pants on, too lazy to put them on after cleaning up. Yoongi loved the skin to skin contact, soaking up Namjoon’s body heat like a blanket as he listened to the latter’s heart beat steadily in his chest.
“Yoongi-ah?” Namjoon broke the silence, stirring Yoongi slowly from the dreamlike state he didn't realize he entered.
“Mm?” Yoongi responded, eyes still closed and mind too foggy to respond with actual words.
“Are you going to tell me what's bothering you?”
“Mm, nothing,” he drawled. “Where'd you get that from?”
“You have that little eyebrow furrow you always get when you're in deep thought,” Namjoon raised his hand and rubbed his thumb between Yoongi’s eyebrows. Indeed, Yoongi did feel a tension he didn't realize was there fade away.
“Jus’ thinkin’ ‘bout today.”
“That was pretty funny,” Namjoon lightly chuckled.
“Mm.”
“What was wrong with today?”
“Just… one of the students pointed out how your personality matches better with… pretty much everyone compared to me.”
“Oh.”
“And how you and Hoseok would match better than you and I.”
“Oh.”
Yoongi sighed, turning his head and sliding his body up Namjoon’s to be more comfortable.
“Yoon-”
“It's fine. I'm used to it.”
From an outsider’s perspective, it would appear that it really is fine, and that Yoongi isn't bothered in the slightest. Namjoon was most definitely not an outsider, however.
“You know I don't care what people think, right?”
“Mm.”
“I proposed to you because I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. You're my person, Yoon, not anyone else. And a bunch of 18 year olds isn’t going to change that.”
“Tch, it sounds ridiculous now that you say it,” Yoongi snorted quietly.
“Imagine the heart attack your students would have if they found out you were just a cuddly teddy bear,” Namjoon laughed.
“Am not!” Yoongi cried out, slapping Namjoon on the arm. “I'm a terrifying music teacher everyone’s scared of and doesn't like being around!”
“You sure? You have sweater paws and are clinging to me like an octopus. Ah, too bad they only know that version of you. Actually, no, scratch that. I'm glad they don't know this Yoongi. It means I get this Yoongi all to myself,” Namjoon held on to Yoongi’s lean frame tighter.
“Those gremlins definitely don't need to know anything else about my personal life. My god, they are like leeches!” Yoongi mumbled out.
“They're just curious,” Namjoon defended.
“Satanic creatures!”
“Okay-”
“Complete imps!”
“Th-”
“Pests!”
Namjoon bent down, his neck at a slightly awkward angle, and pulled Yoongi into a kiss to effectively shut him up. Whatever Yoongi was going to say was lost in the air, a quiet sigh leaving his nose instead.
“Are you done now?” Namjoon asked when they pulled apart. Yoongi simply smiled at him, knowing that he couldn't care less how much his students knew about him, so long as he could come home to these moments every night for the rest of his life.
