Work Text:
Entering Chloé’s suite, Alix saw possibly the most mesmerizing scene she’s ever seen. It was almost straight out of one of Nathaniel’s professional paintings. Something worthy of hanging in the Louvre.
Chloé was seated on a stepstool just by the open window, the lazy afternoon sun caressed her face, making her skin glow . She was seated in front of a completely blank canvas, paints in hand and the expression on her face that she always made when she was lost in thought. She was beautiful, sitting there wearing one of Alix’s paint splatter hoodies and a pair of gray shorts.
Alix felt as if she had fallen in love again.
Chloé instantly looked up when the door closed behind her, a big smile rising onto her lips and her sky blue eyes glittering with mirth. She jumped off her chair and made her way over to Alix.
“Hello darling, how was practise?” Chloé asked her as she wrapped her into a hug.
“It was all right, Kim tripped over his shoelaces even if we pointed out that they weren't tied” Alix grinned and Chloé snorted.
“Of course he would”
Alix hummed in response before placing a quick kiss on the other’s lips, “What have you been doing while I was gone?”
Chloé let out a small frustrated groan and buried her face into the crook of Alix’s neck. “Art assignment is kicking my fucking ass” Came her muffled response.
“My, my, such a dirty mouth”
Chloé rolled her eyes in response. “Yes, but now my muse is here so…”
“Aww you sap”
“Gross” She said sarcastically, “I’m not sappy, just domestic, there’s a big difference!”
“Whatever you say, honey” Alix replied with an eyeroll.
“Now, let’s get to painting!” Chloé announced and grabbed Alix’s arm, dragging her further into the room.
“How do you want me to stand?” She asked when Chloé dropped her hand and hurried over to her paints.
“Take off your shirt and lay down on the floor, stomach down” Was the simple response from Chloé.
“What?” Alix muttered lamly, but followed her girlfriend’s demand.
She heard Chloé’s footsteps come closer again. “Your bra too please”
Alix turned to look at her. “What kind of kinky shit is this?” She demanded to know, a blush rose slowly on Chloé’s face.
“Get your mind out of the gutter!” Chloé scolded, “I was gonna paint on your back. Just take your bra off”
“Fine” Alix mumbled, embarrassed of her slight misunderstanding of the situation. She did take off her bra though, leaving her back entirely blank.
“Good girl” Chloé mumbled, sending a shiver down her back.
Alix felt a pressure on the upper part of her thighs, and Chloé had sat down. Soon she felt a cool wet presence at her lower back, making her squirm.
“Stop squirming!”
“It tickles!”
“It would tickle less if you held still”
Alix wiggled underneath Chloé, trying her best to hold back her giggles. Chloé only tightened her grip on Alix with her knees on either side of her, she then pulled away her wet brush from her partner’s bare back before she could mess up.
“Are you going to help me with this assignment or not?” Chloé exclaimed in frustration.
“I don't see how you painting on my back will help with that. Are you going to bring me into class to show it or something? I don’t want to be halfnaked in front of your classmates and professor!”
“Just wait and see, love. Now, stay still dammit!”
“Sorry, sorry!” Alix huffed, as she grasped her hoodie underneath her head tighter, “Okay, keep going”
Chloé hummed to herself and resumed her work, listening to Alix trying not to laugh and the soft rock coming from the stereo. To her credit though, Alix didn’t move too much. She knew that the paint couldn’t be good for Alix’s skin so she really wanted to finish this fast. Sadly, painting takes time.
Time ticked slowly as Chloé dabbed away gently, moving away from Alix’s ticklish spot and up towards her shoulders, where her tattoos ended.
“There!” Chloé let out as she put down the last red petal of one of the flowers, “Finished”
“Finally!” Alix cheered, trying to get up from the floor, but Chloé’s body weight was still pressing her down to the floor. “Hey can you get off me?”
“Don’t you dare move!” Chloé hissed and got up, “I’m not done yet”
Alix groaned in response and laid her face down flat against the cold hardwood floor, at least the naked part of her body was on a rug, otherwise she was sure her nipples would freeze off.
“Move your head to the side and put your hands on the back of your neck- not that low you’ll ruin the painting!”
“I can’t see where you’ve painted!”
“Fine, I’ll move them” Chloé grumbled and moved her hands so they were resting comfortably just above the nape of her neck. “Now lay still and let me take a photograph”
She pulled out her phone, taking multiple shots before she finally got an angle he liked. It looked perfect. The afternoon sun lighting up Alix’s golden skin, making the painting on her back look even more beautiful.
Red roses with sharp thorns on their stems, with them are the same snakes that are present in Alix’s tattoos, almost connecting them. For her it described her life, their life together. The snake represents a brand new start, the thorns of the roses a rocky path and the roses for their love. Sure, it was simple, but that’s how Alix usually liked.
“Can I see it now?” Alix’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
“Hold on let me transfer this to the canvas”
“Oh! Was that your plan all along?”
“Yeah” Chloé said, taking the canvas off the floor. “Arch your back up a little so you’re a little more flat” She instructed, Alix followed her simple command, “Perfect”
She hovered the canvas over Alix’s back for a moment, praying that this would work, before she pressed it flat against her girlfriend’s back. She made sure to not press too hard, hoping it would only transfer the top layer of wet paint, or at least a big part of the top layer.
Chloé slowly lifted the canvas off Alix’s back and then herself from her girlfriend. “You can get up now” She whispered softly, not even sparing a glance at her painting that was now on the canvas.
Alix was instantly on her feet and like an overexcited puppy she was standing in front of Chloé, a big grin branding her face.
“You ready?” Chloé asked.
“Yeah!”
“Okay” She breathed out and then laid the canvas down on the floor, face up. Her eyes were still closed though, afraid of a big fail.
“Chlo, this is fucking perfect” Alix said breezily. It finally gave Chloé enough courage to look for herself.
It wasn’t perfect, not in the slightest, not in the way it had been on Alix’s back. It was still beautiful though. The paint was splotchy in patches around the edges and at the parts that had mostly dried before Chloé was done. The paint was smudged in spots, undercoats that hadn’t finished drying showed up on top of others. The uneven layers of paint gave it an almost ethereal feel.
It was far from perfect, but knowing it was once part of Alix made it one of Chloé’s favourite pieces.
“I’m taking this home with me when you’re done with it” Alix decided, “Is that okay with you?”
“As long as you take good care of it, I think I’ll murder you if it get’s destroyed”
“I will take super good care of it! I’ll even buy a frame for it”
Chloé grinned and pecked Alix’s cheek, “Fantastic. Now let’s wash your poor back before you get pimples”
“Okay… You know I love you right?”
“Yeah, I love you too Alix”
