I don’t want you like a best friend

Summary:

It was a night of celebrations. After several life-threatening months, The Gifted Gang finally succeeded in overthrowing the Director. Overjoyed by their triumph, they decided to throw a party on the school’s rooftop with Ohm at the helm. Nothing crazy; just a bunch of best friends partying to good music. And eating snacks. Lots and lots of snacks. But with The Gifted Gang, nothing just “ordinary” ever happens.

Notes:

hiiiii! so i was just listening to taylor swift earlier. then i realized, dress is such a perfect pangwave song!!! so, i wrote this but also, i miss pangwave so muuuuuch (!!!) and the gifted graduation's anniversary premiere made me miss them more. anyways, happy reading!

Chapter 1: An extraordinarily ordinary night

Chapter Text

Pang didn't know what came over him.

Maybe it was the sheer joy from their victory against the Director. Or the evening breeze and how it magically attached itself on Wave's perfect black hair, causing the ends to gently sway amongst the wind…or maybe, it was the sparkling wine Ohm swore was 100% non-alcoholic. In any case, it didn't matter.

Something was stirring inside Pang's heart. Something that was brewing for months now, but he foolishly fought it with every nerve in his body. Something he's certain would end if he just gets closer to Wave. Just a minute or two. Better yet, a second that literally lasts forever.

The thing is, Pang is terrified. For someone who lead a war to change the educational system, he is scared shitless of things changing between Wave and him. He can't bear to lose him, but it also appears that he can't ignore his overwhelming feelings any longer.

Plus, the world is shifting. He could sense it. Something's changing and it's now or never.

So, while Taylor Swift was blasting in Claire's crystal-covered speakers, Pang made his way across the rooftop where Wave was sitting…laptop in hand.

Pang smiled.

“Our secret moments in your crowded room
They've got no idea about me and you…”

It's now or never.
