Chapter Text
It was the day after Vorpal Swords’ win against the Jabberwock. Murasakibara and Akashi were still in Tokyo and were scheduled to return in a week so the group of miracles plus Kagami decided to meet up once again for some street ball. Wakamatsu, Himuro and Takao also tagged along thanks to Momoi’s invite.
Murasakibara stayed on the bench most of the time with his broken arm while Kise was forced to rest in order not to overstrain his muscles. Kuroko was probably the happiest because he got to play with all his friends once again and there was this flowery aura around him.
“Pass the ball you moron!”
“Why the hell would I pass to you?! You were being marked asshole!”
Aomine and Kagami got into another fight, as usual, and Kise and Kuroko took it upon themselves to separate the two while the others could only sigh at the two aces. It was close to impossible for them to have a decent conversation without one of them picking a fight.
But at this point, their quarrels became ‘normal’ and it would have been weird if they stopped exchanging insults.
“Fools. Both of you are too narrow-minded.” Midorima scowled.
“Shut it you Oha-Asa freak.”
“Someone as selfish as you shouldn’t comment,”
Faced with the insults, a vein popped out on Midorima’s forehead while his glare became as cold as ice. Takao seemed amused and didn’t hesitate to laugh at his partner’s predicament.
Akashi stood next to Murasakibara looking slightly peeved at all the shouting but chose not to say anything. All of a sudden, the noise was cut off with someone’s phone ring and the group turned to the source of it. Kagami blinked and jogged to the bench before digging through his sports bag for the ringing phone.
“Hello?” he answered.
The others chose not to pay attention and continued playing but stopped when they heard the red-head shout “Now?!”
The group watched as Kagami’s eyebrow’s crossed and his face paled before he switched off the phone and hurriedly gathered his things muttering various curses in Japanese and English.
“Kagami-kun, is everything okay?” asked Kuroko with a hint of worry in his tone.
“Shit! What’s the quickest route to the airport?!” Kagami asked throwing his bag on his shoulder.
“The airport? Why do-“
“Just hurry up and tell me!”
This time, Akashi gave him a brief description of where to go and Kagami bolted off without another word leaving everyone to stand there in silence.
“What do you think happened?” Kise asked.
“I bet that moron forgot to pick up someone,” Midorima commented, not realising how true he was.
“But who? I mean, Alex is still in America from what I know and his dad would- Ohh.” Himuro eyes widened. “I wonder…”
“Eh? What’s this Himurocchi? You know something?” Kise shuffled closer to the other pretty boy.
“Maybe but I need to confirm it.” Himuro smiled, “Don’t worry. If it’s what I think it is, you guys will be in for a funny surprise.”
His statement just caused the group to feel more curious about the missing red-head’s pick up.
“Mou, you can’t leave us like this Himuro-kun.” Momoi whined.
“Sorry but it’ll be embarrassing if I’m wrong. Anyway, he’ll be fine but I don’t think he’ll be returning any time soon so we may as well continue playing.”
“Himuro-san is right, and what is happening with Kagami is not our business.” Akashi added. “Let us resume,”
“”Hai!””
-*-*-*-*-
“You’re late nii-chan.” Was the first thing Kagami heard when he arrived at reception desk at the airport. He turned to the side and a let out a sigh of relief seeing the two small humans staring up at him.
“NII-CHAN!!”
The younger one, around four-years-old, barrelled towards her brother, slamming into his legs and clinging on like a koala.
“Aina, be careful. You might hurt yourself,” Kagami frowned and bent down to pick up the tiny child. She let out a giggle when Kagami carried her and ruffled her neck length red hair.
Another pair of arms locked around his legs and he glanced down to see his other sister, six years older than Aina. She didn’t look up but just hugging her brother.
“Dad said Cami wasn’t comfortable with us around.” He heard a sniffle. “He abandoned us,”
Kagami grit his teeth in anger but suppressed his rage so as to not frighten his precious siblings. Instead, he placed a hand on her head and rubbed it affectionately.
“Don’t think about it okay? Brother will take care of you.” he said in a soft voice, a tone reserved only for them.
When the two girls nodded, he grinned slightly and led them away from the desk. With the assistance of one of the airport workers, he successfully retrieved their luggage and loaded them in a cab outside the entrance.
In the cab, Kagami sat at the back with Aina on his lap, fast asleep, and Fumiko strapped in by the window. The ten-year-old’s eyes were glued to the passing scenery as she watched with curiosity and mild sadness. Her left hand was gripping Kagami’s shorts but he made no move to remove them knowing she felt safer being near him.
“Did dad say anything to you?” asked the boy in a gruff voice.
“Not really. He promised to still send us money but I don’t think he’ll visit.” Fumiko’s voice was soft to the point you’d have difficulty hearing what she said. She was the shy one of the family but responsible and smart. Like her younger sister, she too depended on her brother very much seeing as he was the one who looked after her more when their mother passed away. Unfortunately, he had returned to Japan and they were left with their father whom neglected them a lot. They became used to babysitters and nannies but loved it when their brother came to visit.
He was rough and brash but he took the best care of them.
“That b-jerk!” Kagami censored his words. His father was neglectful, yes, but to choose a woman over his own children? Now that was just downright disgusting.
“I want to live with nii-chan anyway.” Fumiko pouted. Kagami thought she looked cute and reached out to pinch her cheeks.
“Yes. Nii-chan is much better than otou-san, right?”
“Mmm,” she bobbed her head in reply.
The cab finally pulled up to the apartment building where they got off and Kagami gently woke up Aina before setting her down next to Fumiko.
“Go wait at the entrance for me. I won’t be long and make sure Aina doesn’t wonder away Miko,”
“”Hai,””
The two girls trotted towards the apartment building entrance and patiently waited there for their brother who paid the cab driver and carried their luggage towards the elevator.
Upon reaching the apartment, Kagami let out a sigh of relief and unlocked the door letting his sisters in.
‘They came earlier than expected so I haven’t set up their room yet.’ Thought Kagami.
“Brother has to clean your room so what do you want to do in the mean time?” he asked.
“Draw! Aina wannna draw!” the small girl bounced around.
“Do you need help nii-chan?” the older one tugged on his shorts. Kagami smiled and patted her head.
“Nii-chan is fine. Why don’t you read something and stay with Aina?”
She nodded her head and went to her bag to pull out a story book for herself as well as Aina’s crayons and paper.
“When I’m done, I’ll make us some food okay?” Kagami placed the bags on the side and put down cushions on the floor for the girls to sit on.
“Hai,”
“Good. If you need something then ask me and don’t go in the kitchen,”
The girls both nodded at their brother and sat at the coffee table doing their own things. Kagami made sure they were comfortable before heading to the spare room to clean it out.

Back at the court, the sun had gone down and the street lamps were the only lights. The miracles and co. had just finished playing and were resting on the benches.
“Wow. He really didn’t come back huh,” Kise muttered. “A bit surprising considering how Kagamicchi is.”
“You think everything is alright?” Kuroko asked Himuro who was scrolling on his phone.
“Probably. I’m sure he would’ve said something if it wasn’t,” Himuro replied.
“You know, wasn’t Kagamicchi’s place close to here?” Kise asked with a grin.
“Um, I don’t think tha-“
“We should totally visit him!”
“Kise, we can’t just barge in unannounced.” Midorima said. “It’s rude especially if we’re uninvited.”
“But to be fair, didn’t we do the same for Kuroko’s birthday party?” Takao countered.
“That was different.”
“Does it matter though? Plus, I really want to eat something.” Aomine muttered.
“That’s the only reason you want to go isn’t it? For Kagami-kun’s food.” Kuroko deadpanned.
“No shit. I hate the idiot but you can’t deny his cooking isn’t delicious.”
“Mmm, I wanna eat Kagachin’s food too.”
“Um, Atsushi I really don’t thi-“ Himuro’s voice was drowned out by Kise’s.
“It’s decided then. Let’s go to Kagamicchi’s place!”
‘Uh, sorry Taiga.’ Himuro thought.
