She was born Timothea Caroline Drake, a nod to her grandparents.
Her parents loved her, they did, but they loved their work- the thrill of traveling just a little bit more sometimes. She never forgets how things looked as John and Mary Grayson fell. She never forgets that loud thud. Neither did her parents. Somehow it made them even more protective, despite how it also made them grow more distant.
They are seldom around. They put her in boarding school. But she's smarter than anyone gives her credit for- she tweaks the school attendance records, forges her father's signature, mimics her mother's voice. It grants her the freedom to do what she wants. She rarely has the company of her parents, but she does get to have Robin, even if he doesn't know she's watching. She absolutely adores Jason Todd- wishes Wayne could see what she sees.
Except Robin dies- and takes her heart right with him. Then her parents were abducted, held for ransom, and despite the authorized payout they died too...
Now she's Thea "Birdie" Cobblepot, Jason Todd is back from the dead, Bruce Wayne is on her shit list, and if that damn clown dares to so much as touch Jason again she'll start a whole war to end his miserable life.

Summary
If anyone asked the Batfamily which Robin had the funniest ’joining the family’ story? Well, everyone would start with, “Well it seemed like Jason had the spot taken for good after having the audacity to try and jack the Batmobile’s tires and hit Bruce with his tire iron.” And then they’d say, “But then tiny Tim decided to try and steal the whole thing.”
Or: When Tim is 11 he figures it’s not hurting anyone if he. Ya know. Takes a picture in the Batmobile. But then the power goes to his head and all of a sudden he’s hacking the Batmobile and tearing through Gotham on a rescue mission.
