Chapter Text

We all know the story of Rose Tyler, the story of how she died. And we all know about The Doctor, about how he left her on the beach without saying the words he'd always needed to say. But what about the other Doctor? The meta-crisis Doctor? The Doctor who's doomed to wither and die like the rest of human kind. What about him? Well, this is his story.

It all started on the beach, that fateful day that he was made. The process of his being created wasn't painful exactly, just overwhelming and tiring, he remembered wanted to cry. Maybe that's what being born feels like? Maybe that's why babies are always crying

He'd felt a bit like a baby, his head swirling and only half of his brain working properly. He could feel the human in him, he didn't like it. It felt… icky.

And here he was now, waking up and recalling every moment of the battle and everything he'd done wrong. Every mistake. Every blunder. Every hesitation. Rose had told him that he should try and forget about that now, after all he'd gained a family.

Marrying Rose was always going to be the best decision he would ever make. And although he knew that she still longed for the real Doctor, the original, undying Timelord, he also knew that she loved him. And he loved her too.

And how he loved waking up next to the love of his life, and how he loved to sit in silence and listen to her steady breathing. It gave him a sense of comfort, of peace, that he struggled to find elsewhere.

He knew the peace wouldn't last. It would be broken the second that Rose woke up. She was energetic and bouncy, always wanting to be doing something, being somewhere, meeting someone. She was hyper and even being nearly nine months pregnant couldn't change that.

So yeah Rose was definitely his favourite person, then maybe when the baby was born she'd tie with it. His two favourite people in all the world.

"Morning babe! Why didn't you wake me up sooner?" Rose was awake now, bouncing around with an amount of energy that almost scared him.

"You need sleep. Weren't you up until two in the morning? I thought you could rest for a while. Get that lie in we always talk about."

"Well yeah but that's boring. And I want to be awake! With you!" Rose refused to be deterred by The Doctor's words.

"Well then we can get up and do something."

"Oh yeah I promised mum we'd go round to her and Pete's later."

"You WHAT!" Doctor wasn't a huge fan of Jackie and Pete. He'd tried to make friends with them but they'd rejected him, nagging on about how they didn't want their daughter marring an alien. No matter how many times The Doctor had tried to tell them that he was only half alien, they still didn't listen.

So The Doctor was less than happy about being made to visit Rose's parents. But he'd do almost anything to make Rose happy. Almost.
