Work Text:
A large, blond wolf prowled in a circle around a certain part of the forest, stalking a pair who were walking together happily. It paused when the pair did, followed them whenever they left the path and even got close enough to see their faces in detail. One was a pale albino that smelt of stale blood and, strangely, sweets whereas the other was a blond with ridiculously large eyebrows which hid beautiful, green eyes. He smelt of herbs and of new books.
When the two sat down at the base of a lake, spreading out a picnic blanket, putting torches all around to light up the night and setting down a basket, the wolf tensed, slowly creeping forward and getting ready to pounce. He ignored the friendly chatter of the obvious couple, leaping out from his hiding place and onto the blond.
"Alfred you brute get off me!"
Laughter was what filled the area instead of the usual screams, hands pushing away the dog's head as it licked all over its 'victims' face. He made sure to give one last defiant lick before sitting back, tail wagging so fast it was a blur as he watched Arthur sit back, wiping his face.
"You got him good Alfred." Gilbert laughed out, reaching over to ruffle his werewolf lover's fur, "But you may want to change before he collars you."
Arthur stuck his tongue out at the two before wincing and looking away at the sounds of bones breaking and resetting. The tell tale sound of a werewolf changing forms. Yelping as he was pulled into strong arms, Arthur smiled as he looked up at the man now holding him.
The man had blue eyes, filled to the brim with mirth and blond hair with a stylish cowlick sticking up. If his smell were to be described by another werewolf, it would be that it was sugary sweet with a hint of burning wood. If anything, Alfred's smell reflected his personality to an extent and made him more likeable by anyone who met him, including his two lovely partners, Arthur and Gilbert; they were the ones that loved him the most and because others liked him so much it meant more cuddles from the two who were hugely jealous…. Not that they'd ever say anything about that.
"Earth to golden retriever? We're meant to be having a picnic you git." Arthur stared up at the happy man, raising an eyebrow.
Alfred laughed, gently squeezing him, "Come on Artie! I was just admiring how cute and small you are!" He teased the smaller man, letting him go before helping to unpack the basket.
Gilbert grinned, helping them both take out all the food and drinks from the wicker basket, "This looks awesome! I can't wait to have some…"
Alfred quickly nodded in agreement, "By the way… Why did you choose this spot darlin'?" He asked after a moment, looking around at the forest before staring over the lake with a hum, "It's pretty! I'm just curious?"
Arthur stood, brushing dirt off his trousers , "Because," He started, "there are herbs here that I need for big, complicated spells… Rather rare to find too so I hope it stays a secret."
"What herbs augenbrauen?" Gil asked, grinning up at him.
"Don't call me that git! And I'm sure you wouldn't understand." Arthur scoffed slightly, heading to the lakeside with a smile, "Just… Important ones, okay?"
Gilbert nodded at that, watching Arthur pick some things from the water before glancing over at Alfred who was already starting to eat. "Hey... Alfred." He grinned widely, grabbing a random stick from the ground and throwing it when he had the others' attention.
Alfred shot off, quickly running after the stick before pausing when he picked it up. "Artie!! Gil is being mean again!" He complained, shooting a glare at the albino.
"Gilbert, don't be a dick." Came the reply from Arthur who didn't even look up - too engrossed in his current task.
Said albino huffed slightly, "No one here appreciates my awesome humour!" He jokingly complained, laying back with an arm covering his eyes dramatically, "I may as well just lay here till the sun comes up and burn!"
Alfred trotted back over, throwing the stick in Gilbert's face, "You wouldn't do that... You love us way too much."
"Gott let me be dramatic Al! It's clearly the only thing left for me in this forsaken world."
"We're here for you."
"Well, of course you awesomely are but I want the dramatics! The sadness, the joy, the feeling of a live audience! All of the awesome things theatre lacks these days..." He frowned, "That's one of the things I miss..."
Arthur came back over, jars around his belt filled to the brim with collected herbs, "Shush you, we can put one on if you'd like you big baby...." He smiled at the wide grin that Gilbert pulled and sat by him. Arthur kissed his forehead laughing happily as Alfred pulled them both into a hug.
The trio sat there, cuddling with a smile throughout the night... They only left to home when the sun threatened to rise.
