Chapter 1: Late Night, Rude Awakening

Chapter Text

3:15 AM. Renee took a deep breathe, trying to steady herself to no avail. The voices had been screaming at her for hours. She was resisting the urge to sob, as to not wake her girlfriend, who was sleeping next to her. She looked over at Anita, who looked so... Peaceful. The raven haired woman stood slowly.

"Where're you going?" Anita asked. After years in the IMC, anything she'd grown used to waking at the slightest movement.

"Just uh.. Going to the bathroom," Renee made up her mind, though she knew her voice sounded thick with the strain of trying not to cry.

"Hurry back," Anita said.

'She doesn't believe you,' the voices told her. She turned away from Anita, letting a tear slip as she walked to the bathroom. She closed the door and sat next to the bathtub, burying her head in her hands and starting to sob. 'She sees you.'

'She knows how useless you are. She knows how weak you are. She hates you.'

This voice wasn't like the others. It's unlike the helpful voices that keep her safe, or the ones that give advice. This wasn't a voice from the void, despite sounding so much like all the others. This was herself talking. The self that hated her, that doubted her, that thought that she wasn't deserving of love.

Renee sobbed harder into her hands.

"Renee, can you hear me?" Anita asked, stern yet gentle. Renee only choked out another sob, coughing from trying to speak. "Hey! Hey... Take it easy. You're alright." Anita laid a hand on her girlfriend's back, patting it gently. "Breathe. You're ok."

"A-Anita. Go back to bed..." Renee mumbled through her tears.

"Nah," Anita replied, sitting down next to the raven haired woman. "What's going on? The voices getting to you?"

Renee nodded slightly, lifting her head out of her hands. Her eyes were glowing, proving Anita's theory correct. Her normally put-together self was gone, leaving a broken woman behind. Anita frowned and pulled her closer. The voices were becoming quieter, her tears growing silent.

"Mind talking to me next time? You scared the shit out of me just now," Anita said softly.

"I'm sorry," Renee said softly.

"It's fine. I'm here for you," Anita said. "Have you gotten any sleep tonight?" Renee shook her head. "Alright, let's get to bed."

***

Anita woke up with a strange sensation. Why was the bed wet? She sat up quickly and looked at Renee, who was sleeping somewhat peacefully with... Why was her thumb in her mouth?

"Renee?" She asked, with no response. "Renee!"

"Hm?" Renee hummed softly, opening her eyes slowly, not noticing her problem.

Anita looked at her. The voices seemed to be... Gone. Her eyes were a deep brown, not a light blue. They almost looked... Soft. Was she sick? Were the sheets wet with sweat? Anita put her palm on Renee's forehead. Nope. But that meant...

"What's going on? Are you ok?" Anita asked, concerned by the realization the her girlfriend had wet the bed. Renee seemed confused and silent. It was almost as if Renee didn't quite understand what she was saying. Renee whined, not taking her thumb out of her mouth. The realization hit her. Was Renee a Little?

Anita had heard of Littles being discussed between some of her friends before. She knew that Octavio and Crypto were Littles as well, and that Ajay would sometimes join in. She didn't know much about it, only that it helped with their stress and trauma. She thought for a moment.

"You wait here. I'll be right back," she said to the raven-haired woman, who didn't show any signs of comprehension.

The curly-haired soldier practically ran down the hall. She stopped at Loba's room, knowing that she was involved with Littles, only not quite sure how.

"Anita, what the hell are you doing at 5- Are you alright?" Kairi asked as she opened the door.

"I uh... Need help from Loba," Anita said simply.

"Whatcha need Loba for?" Kairi asked, looking back.

"She knows about Littles," Anita said simply.

"Alright, I'll get her," Kairi responded. "Loba! Anita needs help."

"What the hell could she need at 5 AM on a Saturday?" Anita heard Luna call back in annoyance, though she heard movement from inside the apartment. "Alright, what's wrong?"

"Uh... I need help," Anita said. She looked up at Loba, who was waiting for her to go on. "With Renee. I think she's a Little."

"What makes you think so?" Loba asked.

"Uhh... Well, could you come with me? I don't wanna say anything out loud that might embarrass her," Anita explained softly. Loba nodded and followed the soldier back down the hall.

Anita opened the door, not expecting the sight inside. Renee was still curled up in bed, but instead of seeming content, she was crying.

"I see," Loba said.

"She wasn't like this when I went to go get you-" Anita started, feeling guilty.

"Beautiful, it's ok. She probably just got scared. Maybe try and get closer to her? She probably just needs some comfort," Loba explained.

Anita approached the bed, kneeling down in front of the raven-haired woman. "Hey... C'mere, I've got you." Anita said soothingly, opening her arms. Renee stopped crying and crawled toward Anita. The soldier picked her up, despite the fact that her pajamas were soaked.

"I'm going to contact Dr. Somers," Loba said. "Get her clean and dry in the meantime, so she doesn't get a rash."

Renee looked up at Anita, clinging to her shirt. Anita smiled slightly at the childish innocence in the normally cold woman's eyes.

"We'll figure this out, baby. I just wish you would've told me sooner," Anita said softly. Renee merely laid her head on the soldier's chest. Maybe this wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Chapter Text

Anita lifted Renee out of the bathtub, wrapping her in a towel. She booped the Little on the nose gently.

"Doesn't that feel better?" Anita asked. Renee nodded happily. "Alright. Let's see what Loba grabbed for ya to wear."

Anita carried Renee out of the bathroom and laid her on the bed. She then turned to look at the dresser. Renee promptly decided that it was time to explore. She flipped herself onto her stomach and began to crawl toward the edge of the bed, not understanding the danger.

"Alright... Looks like we have a diaper and a pair of footie paja- Renee!" Anita yelped out as she saw the girl at the edge of the bed, but her warning was a second too late. Renee made a wrong move and went tumbling off the bed. The small girl immediately started crying. Anita rushed over to her, picking her up. "Hey... Hey... You're ok. You're fine."

The curly-haired soldier began looking over Renee's body for any injuries. Finding none, she patted the smaller girl's back, who soon stopped crying.

"Let's not do that again, ok?" Anita said, feeling pretty startled herself. Renee babbled in response. Anita sighed, picking up the girl and laying her back on the bed, keeping a hand on her thigh to keep her from moving. Anita grabbed the diaper and pajamas, and prepared to put on the diaper. She carefully attempted to lift the girl's legs, but Renee kept squirming. "Hold still Renee."

Renee, of course, was not listening in the slightest. Luckily the soldier was strong, or else she might have gotten away. Renee rolled to her side, giggling. Anita sighed, turning the girl on her back again and sliding the diaper under her bum. Anita let got for a second, not skilled with diapering someone, let alone with one hand. Durning that second, Renee attempted to escape again. Anita groaned in frustration.

"Renee! You stay still!" Anita said sternly. Renee stopped moving, but then proceeded to start crying. Anita's heart broke, knowing that she had been too harsh. Anita picked up the girl, rubbing her back. "I'm sorry princess... Mama's sorry..."

Renee cried for nearly 10 minutes, before finally beginning to calm down. Suddenly, she fell asleep, and Anita sighed in relief, quickly diapering and clothing her while she was asleep. Yes, Little Renee was frustrating, but she was starting to grow on Anita. Anita heard a knock on the door, and quickly dashed to it.

Mary was standing outside of it, holding a large box.

"Huh?" Anita asked.

"Loba told me that you were having some troubles with a wee Renee, so I brough ya some things that might help," Mary explained.

"Thanks. She finally fell asleep," Anita explained.

"Huh?" The two heard a voice ask in the background as a very groggy Renee was standing behind them. She then seemed to remember what had just conspired. "Oh my god... I'm so sorry Anita..." The raven-haired woman covered her face, still in the cute little footie pajamas.

"Don't worry about it. I gotcha, big and little," Anita said gently. Mary smiled.

"How about we discuss this all over some cookies and milk?"

***

"Would you like that?" Anita asked. Renee hesitated.

"I-I would," Renee said.

And thus starting the journey of Little Renee and her strict but sweet Mama.

Notes:

I'm sorry that this story was so short. I'm just struggling with writer's block, but I want to make this story complete (I don't like having more than one story going on at a time.)

Chapter Text

Renee had her Spitfire out, ready to fire at an enemy Octane. That was, until one of the voices giggled. Wait... Her voices didn't giggle. They didn't even laugh.

Oh shit.

Renee lowered her gun, dropping it suddenly.

"'Nita. Sometin' wong," Renee mumbled into her mic.

"What the- Renee, I'm on my way. Stay where you are, ok, princess?" Anita replied. Renee sat on the floor.

"Otay momma. Why is so loud?"

"Don't worry about that. Just trust Momma, alright?"

"Otays."

"I'm on m'way toos," Ajay said, her headspace creeping it's way into the match.

"Shit... Not you too. Ajay, find Renee and stay with her," Bangalore said through the coms, running as fast as she could to Renee's ping. Suddenly, there was a scream, and then a red ping. "No no no... Run!" But it was too late. Before she could get there to save the two littles, their banners popped up. Anita began to cry for the first time in years. She entered the house without thinking. Immediately, she began coughing as gas flowed into her lungs.

She awoke with a panic in the respawn hospital wing. She heard crying. Anita ran over, recognising Renee's crying.

"Oh baby..." Anita cooed. Renee was curled up in Ajay's arms, the two girls crying. Anita lifted both into her arms. 'Guess military strength really paid off,' she thought as she attempted to comfort the two crying Littles.

"'S all my fauwt," Ajay cried. "If me no widdle me no let huwt 'Nee,"

"Ajay, this isn't your fault. This is neither of your fault. C'mon, you can come back to our dorm. We'll all calm down together."

Notes:

Hope it makes you happy Voidy.

Also Ajay maybe being a possible 'sibling'. What do you think about that? What do you want next?

Chapter 4: Taking Care of the Littles

Summary:

I torture Bangalore by putting her in charge of two crying Littles.

Chapter Text

Carrying two distressed Littles was far easier said than done. Anita sighed as she held the squirming Littles in her arms, unsure what to do.

"Do you... Need some help?" Tae asked her. His voice was softer than usual, and a bit higher pitched. Renne looked over. The man was wearing a green shirt with a pair of white overalls, and had a blue baby blanket in his hand. Her eyes soften, despite her frustration at possibky adding a 3rd Little to her babysitting.

"Sure you can handle one of them, kiddo?" Anita asked.

"Uh-huh," Tae nodded. Anita handed him Ajay, causing the toddler-regressed woman to start crying, before Crypto hugged her close.

"How old are ya?"

"6," Tae said quietly.

"Mind helping me calm down these two?"

Tae nodded as Anita opened the door. Both babs were still sniffling and whimpering.

"Can you grab me a sippy cup and a bottle of milk?" Anita asked Tae softly, bouncing Renee.

"Okay," he said. He set Ajay down next to Anita, who immediately started crying, causing Renee to begin crying.

"Hey hey. Come here," Anita beckoned to the girls softly. Renee cuddled closer, and Ajay climbed into her lap. Ajay settled immediately, but Renee was a different story. Anita bounced her gently, and eventually, Renee did calm. "C'mon, let's get you into diaps before one of you has an accident."

"I don' need diapies. 'M 4," Ajay said defiantly.

"Wasn't an option," Anita said. Ajay looked down at her feet and nodded.

Anita quickly diapered the two girls, changing them into pajamas. Ajay was wearing some of Renee's purple pajamas, and Renee was wearing a black onesie. They two were then carried back into the livingroom, where Tae Joon was waiting, looking very confused. "Where'd you guys go?"

"Was getting them changed. Reminds me, you wearing a pullup?" Anita asked, causing the small boy to blue. He shook his head. "Thought so." She set down the two girls on the couch, giving Ajay the sippy cup and Renee the bottle. She then looked to Tae. "Follow me."

When the two returned to the livingroom, the girls were fast asleep. Anita got a sippy cup of milk, before laying him down in an armchair near the couch. She sighed in relief, though in the end, she realized how much she loved being a Caregiver.
