Vines and Blades

Summary:

Wels stepped up to a glowing wall, hand reaching out, fingers barely touching the surface. As they made contact, a blast sent the knight backward, the barrier between worlds broken—the wall to a world of empires, and a demon, trying to control them all.

Chapter Text

Wels walked along the edges of Hermitcraft, watching the borders. The problem with having hybrids and potentially wanted criminals on your server is that people will try to break in. As one of the new regular players on the server, Wels did patrols every day around the north edge of the server. Although, he smiled, it seemed there was nothing to take care of. He was about to fire a rocket when a blue, glowing wall grabbed his attention, almost calling him closer.

Wels stepped up to a glowing wall, hand reaching out, fingers barely touching the surface. As they made contact, a blast sent the knight backward, the barrier between worlds broken—the wall to a world of empires, and a demon, trying to control them all. Wels got up, pain slowing him down. He squinted and saw three figures approaching them, one holding copper, one having a staff, one with a hood over their head, holding a crossbow. Red coated the sky, the flat ground letting Wels see for miles. Finally, he fully stood up, hand on his sword. If they were going to enter Hermitcraft, they would have to go through the knight.

Wels pulled down his visor, starting to walk towards the group, Wels felt something as he crossed into the land where the sky was red, and he knew that something was wrong with this world. He kept walking, sword drawn. The other group grew nearer, seeming not to notice the knight. He was within earshot now, and as he grew closer, the words they spoke got clearer.

“Pixl, Sausage, lets please not escalate this more…” the one with the staff said, seeming to try to mediate the other two when her head shot up, and Wels found a crossbow aimed at him, along with a trident.

“Who are you,” the one with the trident began, “And what are you doing in Pixandrea.”

Wels knew he couldn’t fight just yet. “I’m Welsknight, knight of Hermitcraft. I patrol the edges of my server, and I was doing that. That’s all. I must have gone too far in.” Wels spoke, a bit of shakyness he wished he could hide coming through. Thats when he heard wings above his head and saw Grian flying, parrot wings colorful and easy to spot in the air. He hoped Grian would stay away; he couldn’t lose his friend. Unfortunately for Wels, Grian came down slightly behind Wels and grabbed his sword.

“Grian, plea-” Wels started, turning to look at the avian.

“Wels, I can’t lose you.” Grian said, cutting him off.

“You called for back up, eh?” The one with the crossbow said, moving his aim to Grian.

“Guys, please, we can talk this out… I don’t want another war.” The person with the staff said, then sighed. She raised her staff to the air, and with it, lightning came down, causing everyone but the girl wielding the staff to jump back. Her eyes turned purple for a second, her eyes almost pleading the group to stop.
“I hate doing that; you both know I do, so please, let’s talk this out. To Grian and Wels, I’m Gemini Tay, or Gem, the one with the trident is Pixlriffs, and the one with a crossbow is MythicalSausage, or Sausage. We mean no harm.” She spoke, a firmness in her voice. The other two nodded, put away their weapons, and Wels followed suit; Grian was the only person with his weapon still out, seemingly stunned. Wels walked over to Grian, who was taking shallow breaths, eyes full of panic. The knight rubbed circles on the avian’s back, careful not to touch the wings. Wels didn’t notice Sausage pulling back out his crossbow, and Gems protests when red vines grabbed her, Pixl’s eyes going wide. As False arrived, Wels’ head snapped up, and he drew his sword, eyes flickering between blue and red. Grian raised his weapon, and Wels hoped he could just get them to go back where they came from.

“We don’t like fighting, but if it means protecting Hermitcraft from you, we will.” False stated, mechanical wings folding up.

Sausage just smiled, and Wels watched as blood-red vines grabbed him tight, and based on the slight caw from Grian, he could guess it got him too.

“How are you to fight if- HEY” Sausage began, but then looked to the sky, False flying high.

“I can fight, I will fight, I will lay down my life for this server and My Home.”

Sausage smirked, and False dived down, slicing the vines around Gem and hitting Sausage’s face, blood flowing from the wound. False swooped back to Wels and Grian, Cutting the vines, and Wels deployed his own mechanical wings. As they flew back to the central part of the Server, They weren’t aware of the 3 people they had awakened.
