Work Text:
Jinki picked up the TV remote and hit the power button. The last episode of Sea of Hope had aired and while he’d been satisfied with how the entire series turned out, he did feel a bit wistful while watching it finish. It had been a lovely time that helped him become more comfortable appearing on shows again without his members and it had produced new friendships. The experience had been one of the best things he’d taken part in recently outside of SHINee.
Looking over to his side, he asked, “Want me to take your bowl?”
Minho, distracted, looked down at the bowl in his hands that had previously held the ramyeon he’d eaten while they watched the show. “Hm?” A pause. “Oh. Yes, thank you.”
Minho reached it over and Jinki took it gladly before he stood up. He didn’t pass by his boyfriend without leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead. “Thanks for watching with me,” he said cutely before walking over to the kitchen to quickly clean their bowls and chopsticks.
The rest of the evening passed quickly. After doing the few dishes that were used, Jinki sat down with the book he was currently reading and laid his head on Minho’s lap. Minho carded his fingers through Jinki’s hair while he scrolled through sports news articles on his phone. The gentle touch quickly started to soothe Jinki to the point of sleep, though.
“Mm,” Jinki moaned, rubbing his eyes after closing his book. “I better get up and take a shower or I’m going to fall asleep right here on the couch.” He giggled, patting Minho’s thigh after sitting up. Minho offered him a small smile and nodded.
“Come with me?” Jinki asked, tugging Minho up from his seat. It may have been formed as a question, but Jinki wasn’t taking no for an answer.
The younger man just chuckled and stood up. “Okay, let’s go,” he said, letting Jinki lead him into the en suite attached to the bedroom.
This was Minho’s house technically; the place was bought once he returned from his military service. His name was the one on the paperwork, but all over the house there were elements of Jinki. His clothes were in the closet, some hanging and some folded neatly on shelves. His books were on shelves they picked out together in the living room. The ingredients and remnants of his baking projects in cupboards and the refrigerator. His toiletries were lined up in the shower next to Minho’s. The paperwork may have said this was Minho’s house, but it was their home.
It was a symbol of their love for each other. When they’d gotten together so many years ago, Jinki knew there were doubts in the eyes of some of their friends and families. He knew the doubts had ranged from wondering if two people could really be in a relationship and have to work together, to hurtful statements about them growing up and marrying nice girls eventually. But here they were. Still together, still happy. They had their life together, their routine. And tonight was no different as they stepped into the shower together. Their hands moving over each other’s bodies, lingering in places; their lips dragging over bare, wet skin. Afterward, they stood side by side at their bathroom sink, brushing their teeth and moisturizing.
Jinki was slipping on a pair of shorts to wear to bed while Minho turned down the blanket when he heard the words leave Minho’s mouth.
“So,” Minho started, his voice even and neutral. “Lee Dongwook seems to like skinship.”
“Hm?” Jinki asked, not sure if he heard Minho correctly.
“Your hyung, Dongwook. He’s very… hands on with you,” Minho replied, his tone far too casual to be natural.
“Uhhh,” Jinki began. “I guess so. Why are you bringing that up?”
Minho shrugged before settling into his side of their bed. “Just something I noticed.”
“Okay,” Jinki said, eyeing his boyfriend suspiciously.
“But,” Minho continued nonchalantly. “I can see why he would be. You’re very cute with him.”
Jinki stood next to his side of the bed and slowly a grin started to form on his face. “You’re jealous,” he stated matter-of-factly.
Minho attempted to place off the accusation casually, as though it was a ridiculous thing for Jinki to say despite it being obvious. “What?” he asked with a soft laugh. “No. I’m not jealous. It’s just… something I noticed.”
Jinki got into bed and pulled Minho down on the mattress, wrapping his arms around the younger man’s waist. “It’s okay that you’re a little jealous.”
“I’m not,” Minho exclaimed, his eyes practically bugging out in that adorable way they did when he was really indignant about something. “I just noticed and made a comment. That doesn’t make me jealous.”
Jinki remained silent, grinning up at his boyfriend with amusement.
“Anyway, if I was jealous, it wouldn’t be because of Lee Dongwook hugging you or holding your hand or whatever. It would be because you were doing aegyo for him left and right,” Minho added in a totally non-jealous tone.
Jinki sighed, still wearing a grin over how silly Minho was being, and sat up. “He’s just my hyung. We get along and enjoy each other’s company. That’s it,” he reassured, his hand reaching out to smooth Minho’s bangs away from his forehead.
Minho’s lips pouted out slightly. “I know. I just… you don’t usually act like that with your friends. Just me usually,” he admitted, eyes not meeting Jinki’s.
Jinki heaved a deep breath and nodded. He was never one to minimize someone’s feelings, especially not Minho’s. He could tease a little, but he didn’t want to make Minho feel like he wasn’t taking him seriously. Even if the jealousy that he was clearly experiencing was a bit much.
“You know, I think maybe you’re just used to seeing me with my school friends or our members and hoobaes,” Jinki said delicately. “In our lives, you see me as someone’s friend or hyung. Even your own before our relationship became what it is and we decided we were equal partners.”
“Mm,” Minho agreed, his pout lessening some.
“Dongwook-hyung treats me like his dongsaeng,” Jinki continued, turning onto his side and supporting himself on his elbow. “I do like that he does, and that he was so attentive to me because it was a new environment and I didn’t have you or Kibummie or Taeminnie with me. It brought me comfort for him to take care of me the way he did…”
Minho nodded, his ears reddening a bit with embarrassment.
Jinki knew Minho so well at this point that he already could tell the younger man was realizing his jealousy was completely unfounded. He also knew he wasn’t the swiftest to admit that, though, so when he began to speak again, Jinki barely contained his laughter.
“You still could have been less cute with him…” Minho said sullenly, his fingers tugging at a loose thread on their duvet.
“This guy,” Jinki said with amusement to no one but the air in their bedroom.
“What?”
Jinki did laugh this time, softly and with affection. “You really are one to talk. Do you know how many times over the years I’ve sat at tables with you and your hyungs and watched them practically coo at you and you eat it up? How many times you’ve acted cute with Changmin or Kyuhyun? Even Junmyeon? You are bold sometimes, Choi Minho. Really bold to be jealous over something like that,” Jinki said before shaking his head and leaning in to kiss his boyfriend’s temple.
The wheels turning in Minho’s head were clear as he considered Jinki’s words. He finally looked over at him with only the slightest of pouts. “You might have a point,” he admitted.
“Come here,” Jinki said after lying down on his back. He held an arm out that he gladly wrapped around Minho when the younger man curled up in his embrace. “You’re very lucky even your jealousy is cute,” Jinki teased. After a moment of thought, he added, “By the way, that reminds me. I’m supposed to have lunch with Dongwook-hyung next weekend. I hope you’ve defeated it by then.”
Minho groaned, burying his face into Jinki’s bare chest as it heaved with his laughter.
