Work Text:
7:50 am (Sunday)
Summer Tournament was just around the corner, and Miyuki decided to slack off during practice and sat behind his usual spot.
He knows that he was supposed to work his ass off during practice, but he's really not feeling it today. He was nauseous, and felt like vomiting for some reason. He would've just stayed in bed if it weren't for his first year 'friend' who dragged him out for practice. So there he was, slacking off with a tired look on his face.
It was hotter than usual, and he didn't feel like fighting the heat.
So he decided to take a nap for a few minutes until Kuramochi decided that it was time to go and kick his ass to go back to practice.
He sighs as he collapses on the floor, getting tired without practice even starting (he didn't start practicing yet). 'this is gonna be another tiring day.'
-
Miyuki wakes up with a headache, good thing it only took a few seconds before the pain disappeared.
"Eijun, are you sure you're okay? We could continue studying later." A girl in front of him said looking worried.
"Ei-chan, Wakana's right. You should rest." Now a boy around his age approached him.
"Oh, uh- who are you guys?" Miyuki stammered. He noticed his voice changed and got a little higher, it sounded a bit whiny and hoarse. And since when did this people drag him inside this house? He was sure if they did he'd feel it.
"Ei-chan stop joking with us, you can't possibly forget us the moment you closed your eyes for a minute." The said boy chuckled.
Miyuki was confused at this point, it took him a minute to realize what could possibly happen that moment. Then it hit him.
"Could it be that we swapped?" Miyuki mumbled to himself.
The girl whom he remember hearing from one of the guys called 'Wakana' heard him mumble something.
"Swapped?!" Wakana exclaimes, making the rest of the group look at her.
"But isn't the possibility of swapping around 5%? And is higher when both are around 20?" One of them said.
"Well, if Eijun's soulmate said so. They're pretty lucky huh?" Wakana said, eyeing Miyuki (as if she'd notice a difference)
"Well then. what's your name, Ei-chan's soulmate?" One of the guys asked. Since they'd already swapped, there's no use denying it.
"I'm Miyuki Kazuya, i'm 15 years old and i play baseball. I go to Seido highschool." Miyuki sighs, he's not used to talking much about himself.
"Woah you're already in highschool?"
"Isn't Seido a powerhouse?!"
"You play baseball?!"
"What's your position?!"
"Okay everyone calm down, don't overwhelm Miyuki-kun. Question him one-by-one okay?" Wakana scolds them. They nodded and apologised to Miyuki.
Miyuki then proceeds to tell more about himself, though only the ones they previously asked about.
Miyuki scanned around the room and found it quite pleasing, it looks normal, but it really looked like he was cleaning it pretty well.
There was a few photos on the wall, The rest of the group talking to him was in one of those pictures, then there was a guy in the middle, assuming it was 'Eijun'. He had a very wide grin, he was enjoying his friends company. It was cute (okay Miyuki slow down).
Now everyone is in silence, he stopped looking around for a moment when he realized they weren't talking anymore. Miyuki not used to the silence coming from them, asked about it.
"Are you guys alright? Why're you all so quiet." Miyuki wondered, is he making them uncomfortable, what if they hate him. His thoughts gets cut off by Wakana.
"We're not really used to seeing Eijun so calm. He's usually really loud and enthusiastic." Wakana explains.
He's the total opposite of Miyuki. He doesn't express himself well, and is usually very quiet. He's not used to much attention, given to what his relations with his father is.
"That explains everything then, sorry about that."
"You have nothing to be sorry about Miyuki-kun! Though i was wondering, have you guys made it far? Baseball i mean." Wakana asks, eyes shining. Now everyone in the group seemed interested aswell.
"No, we lost at semifinals. We were short by a point, it's not like we slacked off through the innings but we weren't strong enough. Though we'll definitely go to Koushien." Miyuki said. Now also wondering how everyone knew about baseball so much.
"What about you guys, assuming you also play baseball, how far have you made it?" Miyuki said.
Now it was everyones turn to be gloomy.
'uh oh' Miyuki thought to himself.
"We lost at the first round." Wakana mumbles.
"We worked so hard just so we could bring Eijun-kun to Koushien but, we weren't good enough."
"Oh" Miyuki mumbled. He wanted to clear the air around them, but couldn't think about what to say. But then he thought about how he knew the people around his soulmate, but nothing about the soulmate himself.
"What about this 'Eijun'? Was he a good player? What was his position?" He asked his soulmates friends, he's not gonna let people around him know that much without knowing them himself.
"He's loud!"
"He's always enthusiastic."
"He's a bit dumb"
"Oh also, He is a pitcher."
"That's so cool! You guys could be a battery! Isn't a battery that are soulmates pretty rare?"
The guy at Miyuki's side look at him with glitters on his eyes.
They could be a battery, the problem is, Nagano is 3 hours (through the train station) away from Tokyo.
"Uh, yeah, about that. I don't think i'll ever meet him-"
"Oi Eijun. Someone wanted to see you, go downstairs for a bit." Assuming it's Eijun's grandfather, they went ahead and explained to him what has currently happened. Since 'Eijun's' parents were waiting for him, he volunteered to explain it to them personally.
Through the hallways, Miyuki spotted a few pictures here and there including Eijun, he didn't find any other picture of a kid his age, he's probably an only child aswell.
They make it through the dining room, and Miyuki was surprised to see a familiar face meeting him after he has switched.
"Rei-chan?!" Miyuki blurted out.
"Eijun-kun. Have you met me before?" Rei raises an eyebrow.
"No, it's just that, it's me Rei-chan. Miyuki Kazuya" As Miyuki scratches the back of his neck.
"We've switched."
.
.
.
"As in THAT Miyuki Kazuya?! Miyuki-kun?!" Rei was definitely not calm about the unexpected situation.
-
Now Miyuki explained everything to both Rei and Eijun's family, things have calmed down.
Rei sighs. "I was gonna scout Eijun-kun, maybe i should postpone it 'till tomorrow." She gets up and bows. "Sorry for the trouble, i should get going. I think I'll be able to meet Eijun-kun inside Seido." She said.
"Rei-chan! I want to go with you. I can't just possibly wait here until tomorrow! We have practice!" Miyuki exclaims. "Plus, we could change back after a handshake!" 'i also wanted to meet him' ofcourse, Miyuki wouldn't say something like that. He has too big of a pride to admit that he was excited to meet his soulmate (aka soon to be lover).
"That is true. Excuse me, but do you mind me bringing Eijun- i mean Miyuki-kun to tokyo? We'll return with Eijun-kun after." Rei asks Eijun's parents.
"Sure thing, but please take care." Eijun's mother glances at Miyuki.
"Nice to meet you, Miyuki-kun." She says.
"Nice to meet you too."
-
8:00 am, after the switch.
"Oi, Miyuki. Coach was asking where you were. Stop slacking off and get your ass to practice or i'll use my wrestling skills on you."
"Huh, Coach? Miyuki? Who are you?" As he tries to rub his eyes using his left hand to wake up a bit more. Realising he can't since he has glasses on, he got even more confused.
"Why do i have glasses?"
"That's because you're practically blind, dumb four-eyes."
"Four-eyes?! Who even are you?! What are you doing inside my.. room?" He dramatically gasps. Just now realising his voice completely changed and he didn't notice his surroundings at all.
"Uhh, excuse me. Can you please take me to 'coach'?" Sawamura mumbles. Feeling a bit shy of what happened earlier.
"Huh? Why're you asking me?" The green haired guy scoffed 'what's wrong with this guy' his eyes practically screams.
"Because i think i've swapped bodies with him."
-
"You've swapped bodies huh?" The coach muttered.
"Coach Kataoka, I don't think this really affects us that much, they would swap back just after a day." Oota whispers to him.
"We should let him be for a day, he's not even on our team. So i don't think it's going to go wrong."
"The other players will get distracted, and the summer tournament is coming up in a few weeks, he'll only be here for a day so it wouldn't hurt letting him go around, though if you wish to participate in our practice, i won't stop you. May i ask your name?" Kataoka eyes Sawamura.
"Sawamura Eijun, sir! And i am a pitcher!" He bows a bit too enthusiastically, it didn't affect Kataoka though, but seeing 'Miyuki' look too enthusiastic does seem a bit bizarre.
"You're a pitcher huh, which school are you from?"
"Akagi Junior sir! From Nagano!"
"Well then you may go, it's your choice if you want to participate in our practice. And Kuramochi, i want you to accompany him, its only for a day so i don't think it will affect you too much."
"Yes sir!"
Then Kuramochi closes the door as gently as he could.
"Isn't that kid the one Takashima-san was planning to scout today? Akagi Junior huh? It's not known within the baseball world." Murmurs Oota while taking glances at Kataoka.
-
Sawamura wandered around for a bit, acknowledging the big practice area infront of him, there were two of them! Private schools sure have big privileges huh.
Sawamura stares at the sight infront of him, almost a hundred of people practicing intensely, it sent shivers down his spine. 'they're so passionate!' he thought.
"Miyu- Sawamura, think about what you want to do for now, I'm still aching to go to practice you know?" Says Kuramochi, clearly pissed off because he was told to watch over a middle schooler brat.
"Ehh- uh, i want to join you guys.. practice." He mumbles, but loud enough for Kuramochi to hear.
"Kyaha! That's what i thought, let's get going then, I'll introduce you to the first string members." Kuramochi then runs, which means he want Sawamura to keep up.
He found himself with a group of ten people, Kuramochi told them the situation and now he has to introduce himself.
"Uhh, I'm Sawamura Eijun. I am 14 1/2 years old! Please take care of me!" He then bows so low he nearly tripped. A few of them giggled and some of them look terrified.
"That's terrifying, Miyuki doesn't bow like that."
"I never knew i'll ever see the day Miyuki become so respectful." A pink haired guy grins.
"Kyaha! Ryo-san that's a bit harsh!" Kuramochi says.
They then proceeded to introduce themselves.
"Now, Sawamura-kun, what's your position? Assuming you also play baseball." Jun said he looked like he was angry, Sawamura thought he looked scary!
"I-I'm a southpaw pitcher, sir!" He stuttered.
"A southpaw pitcher, huh?" Tetsu mumbles.
"Hey, we should play a game-"
"Tetsu no, we have to go back to practice." Jun utters, so the rest of the members went back to what they were doing before.
"Sawamura, you should join us in practice. Though i doubt you'll be able to handle it." Ryousuke muttered the last part, and puts on his usual smirk.
"I planned to join you from the start! Please take care of me!" Sawamura said rather a bit too loudly.
"Okay Sawamura-chan please stop screaming, it creeps me out seeing Miyuki like that." Masuko chuckles.
"I apologize! I won't do it again!"
"You're doing it right now."
-
About 2 hours after the introduction, he sat down a bench, clearly exhausted.
'Ryousuke-san wasn't kidding huh, i might not be able to keep up.' He thought to himself.
After chugging down some water, he looks back just to see a familiar face going his direction.
It was his own face! What was happening?! Did he have a twin? (He clearly forgot he and Miyuki swapped bodies.)
"Takashima-san, who is that? A new transfer in the middle of summer?" One of the team players asked.
"T-that's me! Who are you?! Why do you look like me?!" Sawamura shouts, startling the other players who weren't aware that there was a soulmate switch.
"Haha, you really are noisy huh? Your friends were right." Miyuki grins, clearly amused of what was happening in front of him.
"So Miyuki, how was your day in Nagano, huh?" Kuramochi looks at him, still not used to Sawamura's appearance.
"It was good! I made a whole lot of friends, this guys friends to be exact." As Miyuki points at Sawamura.
"Oh, we switched. I forgot." Sawamura mumbled.
"Well then, nice to meet you, Sawamura Eijun." Miyuki smirks, as he hands out his right arm for a handshake.
"Yeah you too, Miyuki Kazuya." And proceeds to accept his handshake.
-
Miyuki and Sawamura ended up competing with Tetsu in a match, and to say that Miyuki was surprised by his natural moving fastballs is an understatement, it had alot of room for improvement, since it tends to move away from the strike zone.
Tetsu ended up hitting alot of fouls, and got striked out in the end too, somehow.
Miyuki and Sawamura talked to each other for a little while, and settled in a place which is by the vending machine. They talked about things they like and dislike, things about baseball (mostly about baseball).
"So, do you plan to be on our team or what? Rei-chan went out of her way to scout you, you know that right?" Miyuki asks Eijun, as they both sat next to the vending machine.
"I still have a team back in Nagano you know? I promised to take them to Koushien someday!" Sawamura huffs, how come he didn't know that when he just spoke to them a few hours ago.
"Well, i kinda asked your friends what they would feel if you were to join our team, they were okay with it, though the decision is up to you, i can't force you to do something you don't want. As for me, im gonna focus on sharpening our pitchers weapons. So please remember that i don't have time to mess around with a person who wouldn't even be on my team." Miyuki said rather a bit too cold. Which made Sawamura back up a little. 'Seido players are so scary!'
"I-i'll have to think about it." Sawamura mumbles, he wants to play with the Seido players too, but he cant just leave his previous team behind.
"Then i'll be waiting for your answer. I'll have to go now, go find Rei-chan if you want to go home, little kids can't be staying outside too late you know?" Miyuki teases, as he waves goodbye to Sawamura.
"You're just a year older than me! Just you wait! I'll come for you, Miyuki Kazuya!"
"Okay okay, good luck."
