Work Text:
If there was ever any doubt as to whether the world was going to end someday, Xinyan wouldn’t know. She just knew that by looking at the wild and turbulent sea, her primal instincts she was so familiar with due to the nature of her songs, screamed out in agony. The streets of Liyue were in ruins, the seemingly dark clouds towering over them as a sort of omen. A sign that humanity could never be able to stand up against Gods, no matter how much they tried.
A reminder of all their prejudice, of her own prejudice, despite her endless fight against it. The very spirit of rock and roll was about resistance, and yet, there she stood, helplessly looking at the desolate state of her nation.
She's never quite hated her appearance, hate is too strong of a word usually, but in this very moment, the feeling bubbling up in her chest was very close to it.
Because Archons know what would happen if she were to walk up to some of the crying children in the streets, begging the world to reunite them with their parents. They'd probably just be more terrified of her than most already were, and the fact that she donned a special outfit specifically made for her fiery performance scheduled that day didn't help in the least.
In the end, all she could do was stare up at the sky and pray that the death of Rex Lapis didn't mean the death of Liyue, as well.
