Work Text:
The defense club was at a training camp at the ocean. After a long day of fun activities, it was finally night and time to go to sleep, but one pink haired boy just couldn't sleep. Ryuu was sitting on the deck, thinking to himself.
'The feelings I had for Io, they're back, and stronger than ever.' He thought as he stared up at the full moon.
~Flashback~
"Ryuu, you shouldn't be dating a boy, it's not right! You should be with a girl, it's what nature wants for us." Lectured his mom.
His parents always told Ryuu that it's wrong to be homosexual, but he never wanted to listen to him.
Ryuu and Io dated five years ago, but were forced by their parents to break up. Neither of them wanted to do it, but they had no choice. It was painful for them because they loved each other very much. They decided to be best friends, nothing more, nothing less.
Time went by and they both started to forget about their romantic feelings towards each other. Ryuu started to go after girls and Io got rich, but they stayed true to their promise to remain best friends.
~Flashforward~
Ryuu was sitting at the deck, thinking if it might be time for them to get back together. He didn't care about how long he sat there, it was near impossible for him to go to sleep at this point. It felt like millions of thoughts and feelings were flowing throughout him.
The shine from the moon crept it's way into the room where everyone else was asleep. It ended up shining across Io's face, causing him to wake up.
Io sat up, noticing Ryuu sitting on the deck. Without thinking, he got up and walked over to him. He sat down next to Ryuu, but he didn't notice until Io spoke up because he was that zoned out.
"Hey, guessing you can't sleep?" Asked to green haired boy.
"Heh heh, yeah. I just have a lot on my mind after everything that happened today," he replied, "I was thinking back to that time when we were dating about five years ago."
Io's eyes widened when he heard Ryuu say that. The two of them never talked about it, he just assumed Ryuu forgot about it. A blush came to Io's face, he wanted that time back.
"Yeah, I remember that. I wish we weren't forced to break up, but it stopped our parents constant bitching about it." Io said as he looked up at the moon.
The two of them just sat, staring at the moon. Neither one of them really knew what to say.
"Io, after our little moment in the bath today and doing the test of courage together, I've been thinking about maybe getting back together. The world has changed since them, and homosexual couples are more commonly expected. The time we spent dating each other was the best few months of my life, and it hasn't been the same ever since them. It felt like my whole world fell apart when we had to break up! The night after that happened, I couldn't sleep, I just sat awake, crying. That happened to me for a few weeks, I just couldn't move on."
Io moved closer to Ryuu, he felt the same. His greatest wish was to find a way to get back together with Ryuu, his boyfriend. Io wrapped his arm around Ryuu's shoulder.
"I know how you feel. I felt so empty after the break up, you were and will always be my world. Nobody can get in the way of that. I'd say we do it, I couldn't care less about what others think, all that matters is that I'm with you."
Both of them turned, facing each other. Ryuu put one arm about Io's neck and the other around his waist. Io did the same, letting the hand on his neck slowly move into Ryuu's hair. The two of them leaned in closer, turning into a kiss. It wasn't just one quick kiss, this lasted for a while. Neither of them wanted that moment to end. They got their wish.
It was just the two of them, under the moon together.
