It had been the start of the eclipsed week. Where all the evil spirits began to possess everyone. The guqins played harmonizing in attempts to calm those beasts. Yet it was no match, all those beasts knew was the evil intent, to kill. Saber users died in rage, which only seemed to intensify their side ability to contain. Heirs died fighting yet one stood with the rest, leading them on as his guqin continued to be stroked. The harmonious tune seemed to start limiting them yet their actions didn't slow down. The night sky wasn't much of help as their only source of light was becoming limited.
The rain began softly, yet it began to pick up.
"Xie Bi'an!"
Dark hair moved in response to the caller. Grey eyes met up with the slight light golden hues. "Fan Wujiu… You're okay… This one- I’m so glad.." Bi'an hopped off the rock, holding his guqin close as he continued to play it.
"Me? Who cares? I care about you, those people have their own future leaders but you're the only one from our shithole. So you need to pay attention to your surroundings." He frowned at Bi'an.
"We can't continue like this either, Fan Wujiu… This one can't push them to fight all night."
"The lands won't protect themselves!"
"We have no backup! We must move to some location."
"Sect Leader, Xie Bi'an…." Another spoke. "We have calmed the sabers. Some people are treating themselves and preparing to play the guqin to take over."
Xie sighed in relief before he stopped and unsheathed his sword, FúXué. Fan frowned but decided to stand with him. "You don't plan to follow me to your death do you, A-Wu?" Xie Bi'an turned to him. Fan got closer before kneeling down in front of him. "Not as your guard, but as your lover."
Xie frowned before he lightly knocked Fan from his kneeling position. "You know, this one… I despise this formality from you."
Fan huffed before he got up and brushed himself. "Let us go, A-Bi'an."
---
As the rain poured on, swords and sabers crashed against the possessed along with talismans being thrown to paralyze them enough. As said, Wujiu followed him and protected him as much as he could. The sounds of guqins intensifying in hopes to maintain some control in calming those spirits.
Ghouls began to be attracted, Wujiu pushed Bi'an out of the way as one was about to attack him. Bi'an shook himself out of his shock before quickly slicing the ghoul's head, Fan pushed it off him. Bi'an kneeled down next to him, examining him.
"Bi'an, you should m-" Fan stopped himself as Xie's tears began to mix with the rain. He had been too late, the curse mark had been set and it was already doing so much damage on Fan Wujiu. Grunts left him as he sat up, his hands cupped Xie's face gently before a gentle expression was shared.
"We need to get you out of here…" Xie picked him up before running toward the way of the guqin players. He laid Wujiu a bit further. "Fan Wujiu, I'll come back, I promise. Maybe this one can find something! Don't move, okay…?"
Xie propped him against a boulder before he crossed the bridge near them, he didn't stop running looking for what he needed. Fan Wujiu stared at the sky, the rain had begun to increase and the body of water was getting dangerously close to the bridge's level. He bit his lip. Would Xie be able to pass?
Fan pushed himself up, using his sheathed sword to help him walk, he began to pass the bridge in hopes to find Xie. As he approached the other end, Xie Bi'an appeared with a few items, seeing Fan Wujiu had alarmed him.
"What are you doing?!" Xie yelled as he ran back to the bridge, almost tripping over the rocky ground. Fan continued until the water overcame the bridge. Xie dropped everything to run faster. "WUJIU! WUJIU HOLD ON!"
It had been easy to understand what had occured. During the flood, there had been a ghoul who saw the opportunity to grab Wujiu. Only his sword remained. Xie held it close before looking into the water for any signs of Fan. He looked up at Fan's sword before he jumped into the water to look for Wujiu.
"OUR SECT LEADER JUMPED IN THE WATER! EVERYONE THAT CAN HELP COME FORTH!"
Bi'an would come back for air after thirty minutes each time, yet each time he appeared worse and worse. It didn't take long for his own sect to pull him out and they all began to search for Wujiu. Shaking like a leaf, Bi'an held the sword close to him while some others covered him from the rain and even wrapped him enough to dry off.
"Sect Leader…"
Bi'an raised his head to see a piece of Wujiu's crown. With shaky hands he held it before even more tears dropped. He was losing hope. He shouldn't have left him by the bridge. He should've taken anything that he could've used to walk. He was so naive to allow him to walk with such a mark and now he was most likely gone.
"Help! I found something!"
Xie looked over, watching as others helped him pull out a body. The short QiPao familiar to Xie was seen. Yet he knew the body was lifeless. Medicals attempted their magic to no success as Xie approached with a group.
"Sect Leader you'll get sick you must warm up-"
Xie Bi'an looked at Fan Wujiu, the mark had disappeared which meant he was surely dead. Xie Bi'an weeped loudly as he sank to his knees.
"Wujiu! Why?!"
----
It hadn't been the same since then, as everything went back to normal the only unchanged had been the Sect Leader. He had prepared for a new sect leader to take over and had managed to educate him well. Now he was by the bridge late at night. Tears stained his face and clothes as he held onto a rope.
Bi'an looked into the water before he slipped off the bridge.
In the morning, a pair of citizens came to the bridge, the ladies screamed at the dead body of their sect. One ran off to tell the officials.
Xie Bi'an was found to have a suicidal intent spirit inside of him that kept on eating his loss for Fan Wujiu. This spirit had entered Bi'an in his utmost vulnerability and fed into him empty promises.
Xie Bi'an was urged to bathe and rest after all that. Many others continued their search for Fan Wujiu. Yet it was fruitless. However what they didn't notice was the extreme vulnerability of the loss that caused Bi'an. In his broken state, a ghost approached. At first feeding off such strong emotion before starting to consume him.
Sometimes after that, Bi'an would step so dangerously close to edges before snapping back to reality. His mind always wandered to the bridge, touching his sword filled him with stress. He didn't know how long he could hold on, so he rushed the selection. He rushed the learning system and made sure the Sect would be fine at the hands of someone else.
He had decided to try to clear his mind. Walking aimlessly around. At first he had only picked up the rope as he found it lying around. He passed the bridge with less thought that he attempted to muster. He got a few things from the other side, a few flowers. With pure white chrysanthemums, he approached the bridge again.
His eyes lost their light. His body stopped in the middle as a hose was created. He wrapped it around his neck before he tied the fest to the bridge's support. Then as quick as he lost control, he stepped out with the white chrysanthemums in hand under the full moon. Illuminating Bi'an's last moments. His eyes slightly cleared yet it had been too late, he took in his last breath before he allowed his grief to eat him completely.
