Summary
He turns around and Kaveh is there, confused and bleeding out in his worry.
“Are you okay?” He asks like a plea. His fingers twitch against the urge to reach out—Al-Haitham knows by now that it is one way he expresses his love. As if the love itself is not enough, as if it cannot be felt unless it is drawn into skin, gauged into the heart. But, Kaveh knows him too, and knows that even a touch borne from love would be too much, would splinter him apart, so he restrains himself. That restraint brings Al-Haitham back to himself, just for a moment. Just long enough to look at Kaveh and see Kaveh.
Al-Haitham opens his mouth. The words almost don’t come—he can feel them, sinking into his stomach, dying, or perhaps hiding away, too tired to fold into sound. But, miraculously, he opens his mouth and something comes out.
“…need to cover the flowers.”

Or, in his weaker moments, small things remind Al-Haitham of his grandmother, and suddenly, he is made of grief.

"It's a little lonely dancing among the crowd and the stars," Kaveh thought every time he entertained the audience with his dance. But when he is under the eyes of Alhaitham, he feels that he can take off the mask he has put on.
When Kaveh danced, when the hands of the clock struck midnight, they were no longer Sultan and no longer a servant. The signs of their different desires were obvious, the looks were very suffocating.
If they didn't stop the music, no one would leave.[or a story where Kaveh uses his artistic dowry to enter the palace of the Sultan, Alhaitham, not knowing that the man would create a fixation for the way he moves.]

“Kaveh,” Tighnari said, very seriously. “Are you finally admitting that you like him?”
“I do not like him. I tolerate him, remember?”
Tighnari put his head in his hands and groaned. “I should’ve thrown you in the river.”
Kaveh (very) slowly comes to terms with his feelings towards Al-Haitham...of moderate amiability, obviously. Anything more than that is hearsay.

Three years since the start of the zombie apocalypse, and Sumeru Base has weathered zombie swarms, supply shortages, the fall of public order, tyrannical leaders, and revolts.
Normally Alhaitham would have been content to stay out of all these troublesome matters, but normally there would be a certain soft hearted empath by his side more than willing to deal with them instead.
Meanwhile, Kaveh is stranded away from all he holds dear and familiar, spiraling downwards in the face of a world gone mad.Alternatively: Kaveh discovers what he means to Alhaitham after Alhaitham finally finds him and brings him home.
