Summary
It would be disingenuous to say that Jamil hated Kalim throughout his entire life. There was a point in time where the two were truly friends, where the feeling of comradery was mutual. Through the rose colored glasses commonly sported among children, he did not see Kalim Al-Asim, heir to the Asim family. He saw Kalim, a boy who despite being three months older than him, had to be watched closely lest he get into trouble. Someone who, despite needing to be respected, always was happy to see him and called Jamil his closest friend.
The issue was that those happy moments sprinkled throughout his childhood were tainted the moment Jamil realized the gravity of his position along with the fact that he would never be as important as his “friend.”

The sheet which had previously covered the reflective surface of Yesod’s bathroom mirror sits on the sink counter. The white fabric meticulously folded, given all the deference and respect that a ritual of this magnitude deserves.
Yesod stares into it and slowly begins to unbutton his shirt. He makes it three buttons in before stopping dead in his tracks.

“Ah.” Hong Lu looked down at the teacup. In his heart of hearts, he was terrified at what he might see - a young, helpless child, waking up from a pleasant dream on the riverbed in Hongyuan, but he only saw himself; a young adult, wearing the Full-Stop uniform, with his hair tied back, and cut short.
“Our bodies - to every hair and bit of skin - are received by us from our parents, and we must not presume to injure or wound them. This is the beginning of filial piety,” said one of his childhood tutors.
He’d cut it when he opened his Office so it would stop getting in the way.
Hong Lu of the Full-Stop Office becomes a subject of interest for Yi Sang, an Oracle's Proxy of the Index, deep in the process of becoming a facsimile of a certain washed up Grade 9 Fixer... but perhaps choosing someone so peculiar as Jia Baoyu as a partner to fulfill the Prescript that told him to "raise a happy family" will change the Will of the City's mind, just this once.a 61 hongsang plot-heavy longfic

Summary
“Long time no see.” It comes from the man’s mouth, he thinks. But the voice feels fuzzy, a spectre in the air more than a sound. He’s struck with the thought that he doesn’t actually know what Giovanni sounds like. Was his voice higher or lower than his own? Or maybe an exact replica, coming from the same vocal cords. It doesn’t really matter, he concludes as the figure seems to blur around the edges.
He is Giovanni. Giovanni is dead. Both of these statements are true at the same time.
