With slow steps on the cold tile floor, Xiao walked towards the kitchen and rubbed his eyes sleepily. As far as he could tell, the day wasn’t old enough for the sun to great him, yet he wasn’t able to fall asleep again. The bed felt too huge and cold without Zhongli by his side.
He stretched his arms far up and with that his whole body before he entered the kitchen where he was greeted by the strong scent of coffee.
“Good morning, Xiao.” Zhongli stood in front of the open fridge and seemed to search for something inside of it as he didn’t turn around. “Have you seen our sunsettia marmalade?” he asked eventually, still not facing Xiao.
Xiao shook his head until he realized, Zhongli wouldn’t be able to see his answer with his back facing him. “No,” he replied and a yawn escaped him. “Maybe Ganyu ate it up before she left yesterday.”
An amused sound came from Zhongli. “Well, then-” He was about to turn around to Xiao but as soon as his fell on him, he dropped the cup he was holding in his hand. The coffee and broken bits of the cup spread over the clean floor.
Flummoxed, Xiao stared at the mess on the ground and the moment he could shake himself free from it, he looked at Zhongli. “What- Are you hurt?”
Zhongli needed a moment to process the question was targeted at him, and he shook his head eventually. “No, like-” His eyes wandered all over Xiao and the red on his cheek was visible clearly, confusing Xiao.
Then, Xiao closed the gap between them and checked on Zhongli’s hands, almost stepping into the coffee puddle. “What is it then?” Xiao asked, not being used to Zhongli being clumsy as this was his part mostly. “Are you still sleepy?”
With the caring eyes on him, Zhongli wasn’t able to hold eye contact anymore and averted his eyes from Xiao. “That’s not it either,” he answered him and stole a quick glimpse of Xiao. “It’s just believe you are actually wearing my clothes.”
Huh?
Xiao needed a moment to process what Zhongli was saying him here. His eyes fell down on his body, only wearing a half-closed, white button up shirt. The sleeves were too long and it brushed his knees gently in length.
Oh, shit.
When he grabbed clothes to leave the bedroom, he didn’t pay attention if it were actually his own things. “I’m sorry,” he then apologized quickly. “It was dark and I-”
Zhongli shook his head. “No, Xiao, don’t worry and don’t apologize.”
Before Xiao was able to react, he found himself pressed against Zhongli’s chest, listening to his fast heartbeat and being caged by his arms. He couldn’t stop himself from relaxing with the safety this warmth offered him.
“You’re looking perfect in it, keep it on.”
