   And, oh, that made Kalego furious. Absolutely bristling with rage, that Balam thought about himself like that, that people might have given him reason to think like that, that he couldn't see himself the way Kalego saw him, had always seen him…
   And it was because of this incandescent fury that Kalego snapped, without even a moment's thought:

   "I would! In a heartbeat!"

    

   Or: Balam makes a self-deprecating comment about his own desirability, which Kalego instantly objects to. And if Balam won't believe his words alone, he'll just have to put his money where his mouth is... and said mouth onto Balam.
