[Podfic] Cold read of Summer Rain
kisahawklin
Summary:
"You should bring her in," the vet tells him. "I could squeeze you in tomorrow morning if that works for you?”
It does work for Lan Wangji. The whole ordeal earns him a few things: a bite on the index finger of his left hand, a cancelled appointment to get his rabbit spayed, and the knowledge that Bichen, about a fortnight after the neighbour's rabbit dug himself into her enclosure, is indeed pregnant.
Or:
The one in which Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are neighbours, Wei Wuxian's rabbit has a passionate tryst with Lan Wangji's rabbit, and Lan Wangji raises claims for child support.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: For bsbombshells, who requested a pet rabbit child support, new neighbour meet-cute kind of story. I…huh. I might have extended the “meet-cute” to a “we stare at each other longingly across the fields for a while without talking but when we finally do, it’s really cute” type of situation; I hope it’s still to your liking. Thank you so much for such a fun prompt!
I went down a literal rabbit hole (ha!) about bunny gestation periods and baby bunny care and how long everything takes in rabbit pregnancies, to get this as accurate as possible. The only thing I kept pretty vague is the setting- we’re in the beautiful countryside, there seem to be villages nearby, and it takes you several hours by car to get to the nearest big city. That’s it.
I had so much fun writing this, I hope you’ll enjoy it too. Please let me know what you thought of it!
PODFICCER'S NOTES: Thanks so very much to Sweetlittlevampire for the little note at the end of her absolutely adorable little story that said "Podfic Welcome" because OMG. This was an absolute joy to read. It is so sweet. So gentle. So gorgeous. Thank you Sweet, you are the best. <3 This is a cold read without too too much commentary because the story itself is so sweet and delightful I didn't want to interrupt too much.
Please please PLEASE click on the link to the original work though - the art is SO LOVELY and it is at the bottom of the story.
