“Senkuuu chan, Hurry up!” Gen called from up the stairs.
“Yeah yeah,” Senkuu groaned.
“Don’t drop it Senkuu chan!” Gen called as he put down the boxes in his hands so he could fish for his keys in his pockets.
This was new for Gen too. The apartment was smaller than he was used to. He had gotten used to the extravagant places his mentalistcareer could afford him but Senkuu had insisted on getting a place where he could pay half the rent so they sound a nice little place for the both of them.
“Hey this is nice,” Senkuu commented when they walked in.
“It’s cute,” Gen meant to agree.
“What? Not big enough for you mentalists,” Senkuu teased.
“What? No, I meant-,” Gen stammered out a reply.
“I know I know,” Senkuu grinned. “It’s in budget and not too far from your studio so I thought it was worth checking out,”
It was also the first time Gen was moving in with a partner of his. The two had been dating for over a year and a half and Gen just guessed it was a good time to ask Senkuu to move in with him.It wasn’t like Gen didn’t already spend a lot of time in Senkuu’s apartment. A place they could live together. It was new for sure.
Let’s just see how things go. It’ll be fine.
Crsshhh
“Ahhh Senkuu!” Gen looked down the stairs to see Senkuu had dropped a box.
“I’m okay,” Senkuuc called back.
Or maybe not-
“Here let me help,”
Senkuu and Gen got the last of the boxes up the stairs. Admittedly Senkuu was not built for hauling boxes upstairs to his and Gen’s new apartment. Most of it was Gen’s stuff too.
“Oh thank god we’re done,” Gen tried to catch his breath.
“Agreed. Never doing that again,” Senkuu huffed.
“Oh for sure, Never again,”
The boxes were in the middle of the new apartment. Even in the small space it still felt so open without furniture. They had paid movers to install things like the laundry machine and the fridge.
“So-,”
“So?”
“Want to order take out?”
“Yes please,” Senkuu agreed.
The two were sitting on the floor of their apartment eating Mos burgers with paper plates.
“Best dinner date ever,” Gen hummed.
“Is it really a date if we will be living together?” Senkuu playfully raised an eyebrow.
Gen paused for a second. “Oh I guess so,” Gen sang. “Or it could just be the longest date in history,” Gen joked. “A very very ong layy sleepover if you will,”
“Whatever you say, mentalist,” Senkuu smiled. “But maybe we should set up the bed before?”
“Hmm later. I’m not done with my burger,” Gen rested his head on Senuu’s shoulder.
“You’re going to take forever,”
“Ean may,”
Senkuu rolled his eyes shut let his boyfriend rest there. It had been such a long day but Senkuu couldn’t say he didn’t enjoy it. Time somehow left longer the whole day but Senkuu didn’t mind it. Even eating food while sitting on the floor with boxes still to open, Senkuu was content.
This wasn’t his first time living with someone else. He, Chrome and Taiju had roomed in college but this was Senkuu's first time rooming with a boyfriend… well it was also his first relationship in general so a lot was new to him.
“Wait Gen… You labeled the boxes didn’t you?” Senkuu asked.
“Hmh?” Was I supposed to?” Gen lifted his head from Senkuu’s shoulder.
Senkuu deadpanned for a second. “Are you kidding me-,”
“I did I did, I just wanted to see the look on your face,” Gen tried to hold in his laughter.
“Did you really?”
“Yes, Yes, you can go check,” Gen waved off.
“I believe you,” Senkuu sighed, Taking Gen’s fries from him.
“Wha- Hey Senkuu chan!” Gen reached to take his fries back. “You jackass give them back,”
“Hmmm,” Senkuu hummed. “I don’t think I will,”
“Ahhh home sweet home,” Gen flopped on to the freshly made bed.
“We just unpacked the sheets,” Senkuu pointed out. “We still have more to unpack,”
“But it’s comfyyyy~,” Gen whined. “And that sounds like a morning problem,”
“Mentalist…,” Senkuu sighed.
“We both know we aren’t getting anything else done today Senkuu chan. So why not call it a day?”
Senkuuu looked at the bunch of boxes behind him and sigh. “Let’s brush our teeth first,”
“Good point,” Gen lazily got out of bed. “I had just got comfortable too,”
“Taking up both our sides?” Senkuu joked.
“You can sleep on the couch Senkuu chan,” Gen yawned.
Gen looked in the bathroom mirror at his and Senkuu’s reflection. It was so domestic. Like right out of a manga. Both grabbed for their toothbrushes they unpacked and the toothpaste.
First dinner together. Check
First boxes unpacked. Check.
First day living together. Check!
Maybe it didn’t all feel real yet but Gen knew it was. He and Senkuu were living together! It was such a sappy thing too.
I bet Senkuu would call it cringy.
Both cleaned their mouths of the toothpaste taste and got changed for bed.
The bedroom was still mostly empty besides a few boxes in the corner and a small bedside table to place their phones.
“Ahh finally,” Gen groaned as he slipped under the bed's cover. “Everywhere feels sore,”
“Tell me about it,” Senkuu snickered. Senkuu went to go turn off the light before slipping into bed next to Gen.
“How about tomorrow we just stay here all day?” Gen jokingly proposed.
“With how sore I’ll be tomorrow, that doesn’t sound so bad,” Senkuu answered.
“With snack breaks though,” Gen added. “I love you but not thattttt much,” Gen teased.
“Whatever mentalist,” Senkuu took Gen’s hand in his.
“You’re so stoic Senkuu,” Gen sighed. Gen moved his hand to cup Senkuu’s cheek. Gen ran his thumb over Senkuu’s skin. “But I can see right through you,”
“So cringy mentalist,” Senkuu lightly pushed Gen’s hand off.
“I know,” Gen shrugged. “But you love me,”
“Still cringy,”
Gen rolled his eyes and leaned in to kiss his boyfriend. Senkuu snaked his arm around Gen’s waist. It was a chaste kiss since both were tired and ready to call it a night.
“Night night Senkuu chan,” Gen smiled, his face a few inches from Senkuu’s.
“Night Gen,”
Their legs tangled and gave each other space to breathe.
Senkuu watched as Gen dozed off. It was true Senkuu still had trouble expressing how much he loved Gen. Even when Senkuu was younger he had a difficult time expressing how much he appreciated Byakuya and his friends Taiju and Yuzuirha. He didn’t mean to. It was just difficult to say through word show he felt. Gen was more of the word smith out of the two. He was a mentalist after all. Senkuu was more the type to show through actions.
I guess I’ll try that.
Gen slowly started to stir awake. Neglecting the put up curtain earlier maybe had something to do with it… Gen checked the time on his phone.
7:50? Ughhh too early.
“Hmm morning Senkuu chan,” Gen groaned as he sat up.
He was somewhat lucid but was still trying to get an understanding of the area around him after being blinded by sunlight.
“Hmm Senkuu chan?” Gen turned his head to see why his boyfriend was so quiet. Normally he was up before Gen. Gen looked but Senkuu wasn’t there.
“No way he already got up right?” Gen thought out loud. Gen stretched a bit to wake up before willing himself to get out of bed to see what Senkuu was doing so early. “Senkuu?”
“Morning Gen,” Senkuu’s voice replied.
“You’re up early,” Gen walked himself to the small kitchen in the living room.
“Well I wanted to make breakfast but then I remember we didn’t get groceries last night,”
“Or put up curtains,” Gen groaned. “Learned that the hard way,” Gen learned on the kitchen counter. “Soo what ya making?”
“Toast and rice,” Senkuu smirked.
“How sweet,” Gen sarcastically sang.
“You’re welcome,”
“Were you trying to serve me breakfast in bed Senuu chan~?”
“Well I'm tired but you just haddd to wake up,” Senkuu playfully rolled his eyes.
“I can go back to bed if you want,”
“Nah, you’ll just stay there for the rest of the day,”
“You know me so well,”
