Three complete strangers stand before her. A tall gray haired human male, a young brunette human female, and a weird creature she's never seen before. Anakin tells her they're his new friends. The man apologizes for the abrupt inconvenience and tells her that her son granted them protection from the incoming sand storm. She nods and smiles offering them a seat at the table before returning to the kitchen with dinner. Conversation that night turns cold. The girl, who she learned was named Padmé brings up slavery and republic law. She is so naive yet there is a old wisdom to her. Anakin says he can help and though she hates the idea agrees that indeed her son can help. It's settle almost instantly, it makes her sick to her stomach. Night falls and she doesn't sleep.
Morning comes and the storm has died down. The Jedi, Qui-Gon and Anakin leave to talk to Watto. She bites her lip and doesn't say a word. Both come back with looks of glee. Anakin works on his racer she stands and watches so does the Jedi. He tells her Anakin is unusually strong in the Force and asks who's his father. She tells him the truth. There isn't one. She grew him, bore him, and rasied him on her own. No father in the picture just the two of them. Just her and her son. He nods, lost in thought. Night comes again and he tests their blood. She doesn't know and does know at the same time.
The pod race in the next morning, Qui-Gon left early. They arrive and Watto is in a down right bad mood. Anakin is settled and they go to the stands to watch. She doesn't think she opened her eyes once. The timer rings and Anakin won. Qui-Gon pulls him from the racer and places him on his shoulders and Anakin yells to her that he did it. He won.
She and Anakin return home. Qui-Gon goes to speak to Watto about receiving the needed parts for his ship. Eventually Anakin gets bored and wanders out of the house. She conutines working on the chip scanner. Anakin, Padmé, and Qui-Gon return. Anakin tells her that they sold the pod and shows her the money. It's a lot but not enough. Qui-Gon reveals Anakin is free. And she is too, that she and Anakin have been freed.
