Robotnik had done it. He had escaped from that awful mushroom planet – with help from an echidna – and made it back to Earth. After locating his technology and getting a fresh set of clothes, he decided to track down Agent Stone. He had been craving one of the agent’s lattes for a while now. In fact, he had been craving the agent in general. According to new data, Agent Stone had opened his own coffee shop in Green Hills called the Mean Bean Coffee Co.
With his new black trench coat flowing behind him, he barged through the door of the shop. It was quite packed inside, with every seated person enjoying a beverage of some sorts. Stone was clearly making some good money from this establishment. Behind the counter was Stone and another barista. Both of them were donned in aprons.
Robotnik’s heart skipped a beat. It had been too long since his eyes had laid upon the real Agent Stone. He wanted to go marching up there, and speak to Agent Stone immediately. And so… that’s exactly what he did. Customers patiently waiting in line shot him glares and made some rude remarks as he passed them. With perfect timing, the person at the front of the line left. Robotnik squeezed in and leaned against the counter on his elbows, ignoring the angry woman behind him.
“I’ll be with you in a sec.” The currently occupied Agent Stone hadn’t exactly noticed him yet.
“Long time, no see, Agent Stone.”
Stone started, his gaze immediately shifting upwards. His jaw dropped as he stared in astonishment. “Doc-- ...Doctor Robotnik?”
“The ushe, please,” Robotnik smiled.
Stone began fiddling with the register. “That’ll be three fifty, sir.” Robotnik reached into his pocket. “How...” Stone’s voice had a slight waver to it. “How did you make it back?”
“I ran into a gullible echidna who was hunting down Sonic.” Robotnik’s hand brushed against Stone’s as he passed the cash over. “I told him I knew where Sonic was, ultimately convincing him to take me along. We used those same teleportation rings that Sonic had in his possession.”
Stone had his eyes fixed on the other, still finding it hard to believe that his former boss was standing in front of him. “I don’t have all day,” Robotnik snapped. Stone nodded and got on to making the order.
“A latte with steamed Austrian goat milk.” Stone placed the cup on the counter.
Robotnik dragged the cup closer before he picked it up and took a sip. He relished the taste he had been starved of. “I love the way you make them,” Robotnik said softly, reminding Stone like the many times he had before that damn hedgehog sent him to another dimension. He strolled around the counter and put the latte down, stepping closer to his former assistant.
Placing his hand under the other’s chin, Robotnik tilted Stone’s head up. Stone wasn’t making any attempt to push him away, similar to how he wouldn’t formerly. Robotnik pressed his lips against Stone’s in a delicate kiss. He hadn’t even confessed previously, yet here he was, doing this. Stone blushed deeply as he reciprocated.
Robotnik pulled away, smiling lovingly. Stone’s mouth parted; his eyes half lidded. Robotnik grabbed his latte and began dashing for the door. As much as he wanted to stay with Stone, Robotnik’s urge to get revenge was just too overpowering. “I need to go get that hedgehog!” And with that, he was out the door.
Stone placed his hand on his lips. He was now feeling whiplash. Snapping out if it, he ripped his apron off and threw it on to the ground. Stone charged out of the building, hollering, “WAIT FOR ME, DOCTOR ROBOTNIK!”
