Future’s Shadow

Summary:

Mi D. Yami, a mysterious woman, with a mysterious past, comes into play with nothing to give or get. We follow her story as she journeys the one piece world. With hints of her past slowly rising with dreams.

What happens when her past comes to light? Or even a past not meant to be know at all?

- I do not own one piece as it belongs to its original owner

The only thing I own is the way the story is written and the character Mi D. Yami

(P. S. I'm really bad at summarizing.)

Notes:

This is my first Fanfic and I would love for feedback. I also posted this on Wattpad.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“Yami,” yelled a small 5 year old boy as he ran down hill on a road towards a girl.

Said girl was taller then average, about 6’6”, with obsidian-black hair that was put up in a Wano style. She had pale white like skin and black eyes. She had black tattoos that read “Mi D.” on her left wrist and “Yami” on her right wrist. She wore a white to black faded kimono that had red spider-lilies at the bottom and sandals, also wearing a red spider-lily in her hair. She wore a katana that had red spider-lilies decorating it’s saya, with the hilt of the katana fading from black to red with red strings attached to two clear spheres that each held a red spider-lily.

Yami turned to the boy and yelled, “Luffy, be careful! I can’t always save you.” She kneed down and opened her arms to catch Luffy as he ran towards her.

Luffy wore a child sized white shirt that had ‘ANCHOR’ written in blue, blue details on the edges of the sleeves, an anchor in red going through the word, green shorts, and wore sandals for shoes. He had black hair and eyes with a distinct crescent shaped scar under his left eye.

Luffy crashed into her opened arms with a smile. “But you always have my back and you can even scare gramps when he comes by and finds me.”

Yami sighed as she heard the mention of Monkey fucking D. Garp. He was so annoying that even she wanted to kill him but would decide against doing it every time. She look down at Luffy, who still wore a smile that was contagious that she smile back.

“Okay. Just call my name and I’ll be there to scare him off when he comes” She said as she brushed through his hair.

“Ok, Sis.” He said as they both let go of each other. “Oh, and I’m hungry.” He said as he looked at her with pleading eyes.

“Okay. You want the usual?” He nodded to that as they walked towards the ‘Partys Bar’. It was the only place in this small village that served food and good sake.

As they walked, they heard someone yell, “Pirates!” Luffy let go of her hand as he ran forward yelling, “I’m going to go check them out. See you at the Bar, Yami.”

“Ok, be careful and remember to call me if you need help.” Yami yelled back as she walked to the front of the ‘Partys Bar’. As she got a wave of ok from Luffy.

-Luffy POV-

I ran all the way to the docks to see a big ship pull in. The ship had a dragon as as figure head and its main mass held a Jolly Roger at the top symbolizing it was a pirate ship. The Jolly Roger was of two sabers instead of the usual crossbones and a skull with two red stripes over the left eye.

I stopped as people gathered and the gang plank was put down so the pirate crew could get on the docks. The mayor, Wood Slap, walked in front of the crowd as the pirates walked onto the docks.

“Leave this island if you want to cause trouble because this island is under the protection of Vice-Admiral Garp.” Wood Slap announced as the crew stopped and, who I thought was the captain, came in front.

Said captain was wearing a white half button up shirt, red shash on his hip, 3/4 brown pants, a long black cape almost as tall as him, a sword on his hip and a old straw hat by the looks of it. He had bright red hair and three claw scar across his left eye.

“We are only here to stock up on supplies and be peaceful. We promise to not do anything that goes against your laws. Right, boys?” The captain said which got nods and “yes’s” in response.

Wood Slap then nodded. “Fine. You can stay, but I’m watching you.” The captain nodded in understanding.

“Then may I ask where we can get some good booze, rum, or sake.” The captain asked as Luffy started walking towards him.

“I can show you the way, if you want mister pirate?” I had said as I stopped in front of said captain. Wood Slap looked horrified as I had finished saying that.

“If you won’t mind showing the way, little friend.” The captain said as he patted my head while Wood Slap yelled at me to get back from where I was.

“It’s fine. I was just about to go there to eat.” I then grabbed the captain’s cape as to show the way to the bar.

As me and the pirates walked towards the bar, I asked about their journey on the seas as I wanted to be a pirate when I grew up, so the crew told stories as they walked.

-Shanks POV-

I hadn’t though I would meet someone like this Luffy kid in such a small village, especially in the East Blue but many things can happen if not expecting the unexpected.

When we reached the bar, ‘Partys Bar’, Luffy ran in without warning which had shocked the crew a little as they were in the middle of a story. I laughed as we walked to the doors but stopped when I felt a strong presence.

I walked in opening my month to call for Luffy to see if he was okay. Only to stop as someone had beat me to the punch.

“Luffy, be careful when running around the bar, please,” said a dark greened haired barmaid. Luffy nodded as he ran up to the bar counter and sat on the stool.

“Sorry Makino. I was really excited for food and I brought some pirates to drink something.” Luffy said as he downed his food like he never ate for the last week.

“Okay,” she turned her head towards me and my crew, “So what can I get you to drink?” She wore a smile as she asked.

“Some sake if possible?” I answered as i smiled. After all, I was hoping to get drunk, again, because why not.

“I have to see if we have any left. If we don’t, is rum fine.” The barmaid asked as a worried look came upon her face.

“Yeah, that will be fine,” I answer again, hoping the smile on my face this time could help calm her down. As me and my crew walked and sat down, a teenaged girl walked in from the back which caused us some surprise, as to why a teenager was working at a bar.

“Yami, have you left any sake that these gentlemen can drink?” Makino asked as she walked towards “Yami”. The girl looked at us and then walked to Luffy and set down a plate of food she was caring that I had not noticed until now.

“Yeah, there’s about two barrels left, not counting the ones that I asked you to buy for me. Oh yeah, how much was that again so I can pay you back.” Yami said as she sat next to Luffy uncaring about me and my crew.

“You want the two barrels of sake that we have left, right?” Makino asked as she turned to me as I nodded. “And Yami that was about 10 million belis,” Makino said which surprised me and my crew as how could Yami have that much money.

Yami nodded and reached over the counter to grab something. When she pulled back she was holding a katana that I recognize as I had last seen it with an old Nakama of mine.

It was the lost blade known as the Ten No Hana or Heavens flowers. It was a blade that was lost through time and at times would appear in history but lost again shortly after it had appear. It was known to be cursed based on it appearing and disappearing throughout time and history, with no one knowing why. Though there is a legend for said blade.

Yami had got up and walked to the door, but when she passed by me she whispered, “Roger would have been proud of you, Shanks.” That had caught me off guard because no one recognizes me as one of the cabin boys of the Roger pirates.

I guessed that I froze because the next thing I hear is the Makino. “You were smart to not hurt Luffy after all Yami is like his protective sister. Anyone who does hurt him is beaten to a pulp.” She said as she set down drinks and food to me and Ben, my first mate.

“Thank you for the food and drinks. And, may I ask where she will get the money and how she got that katana?” I asked as the rest of the crew members were served their food and drinks.

“Your welcome. Oh, and to answer your questions, Yami defeats bandits for money expect one group. For your second question, I don’t know where she got that katana as she had it when she first got here.” Makino responded to my questions as I nodded.

After that, I began to eat as like the rest of my crew, putting the whole interaction in the back of my mind.

-Yami POV-

I walked out of the bar with my Ten No Hana to get the money I needed to pay for my sake. I headed up the path leading towards the forest. As I pass the villagers, they wave and say their greetings with me returning them.

Though as I enter the forest, I remember that I still had to visit the bandits that I call my friends. So I walked to where I knew their broken down but that they call home was.
