Summary: The awakening of Black Whip happens in a different way. A comment Shinsou makes towards Midoriya being the poster golden child finally makes Midoriya angry and secrets are finally revealed that surprises almost everyone. The secrets, the past, and the power of the raw hurt and pain that Midoriya has kept inside is let loose.

Disclaimer: I do not owe any rights to the My Hero Academia franchise.

Author’s Note: For those who have read my previous stories, you know I absolutely love Dadzawa and Aizawa just being a Dad. My Mama Joke stories also lean on the hilarious side, but I have fallen into a tiny pit and I have been planning some stories around them. Either Aizawa or Yamada is Midoriya’s biological father and gets ignored, neglected, or runs away all because of Shinsou (I love Hitoshi so I feel bad about this) getting more attention from the biological parent and I just have so many ideas. This is just the first story to try my hand at these types of stories. I also wanted to do a different Mama Joke story where it isn’t filled with humor, but angst as practice for a future story. I also have a Dragon Daddy story idea that is different from the usual Dragon Daddy stories that I write so basically this story is just me experimenting so I can see what exactly it is I need to focus on. This is my baby step to improving and expanding my story genres so I can provide more content to all of you wonderful readers so please be kind and patient with me.

This is also a story where Aizawa and Joke are Midoriya’s biological parents due to a corrupt hero that they were both interning under during their high school days.

~~Story Begins~~

“Hey Eraser!”

“What is it, Ms. Joke? I don’t have time for your antics.”

“Remember when we took that internship and the hero had us go undercover? When we had a drunken one-night stand?”

“Unfortunately, and NO I do not want a repeat.”

“I’m pregnant.”

Silence before a sigh.

“I told you that I don’t have time for your antics, Joke.”

~~Six Years Later~~

Small boy’s hands shook a man who was sleeping on the couch.

“Daddy! You promised me that we could go see the new hero movie today for my birthday!” a little boy’s voice said. His hands pushed the man harder. “Daddy! You never do anything with me! But you promised to go to the movies with me!”

“Kid, how much longer is this prank going to last?” the man said, opening his eyes.

“Prank?” the kid said.

“Yes. You're acting like you’re my child. This is all just a huge prank planned by that woman who is the bane of my existence. How much is she paying you or your parents for this? Because this is getting annoying and it's nothing more but a huge joke.”

“You…” a sniffle, “you think I’m a joke?”

“I absolutely know you’re a joke,” the man said and turned around on the couch. “I have been happily dating my boyfriend for three years now and she’s trying to ruin it.”

~~

A tiny hand clutched a bigger female’s hand.

“Mommy, that’s Present Mic right? So, who’s the child with him?”

“I believe that is his son, but don’t tell anyone. His quirk is brainwashing.”

The female waited for the usual rambling of how amazing that quirk was and how useful it would be for heroics. She looked down to see the child with sad green eyes looking at the black haired man with Present Mic and his son. The man was smiling at the blonde’s son.

“Does Daddy hate me because I don’t have a quirk, Mama?”

“No, sweetie, he doesn’t -”

“He thinks I’m a joke, Mama!”

Green eyes looked down at the ground as their body pressed against her body.

“I don’t wanna see the movie anymore, Mama.”

~~

“Ms. Joke! What is-”

“Happy freaking birthday Eraser Head! I hope you have a miserable birthday just as much as you made our son feel. I hope Yamada breaks a promise to you or breaks your heart.”

“What the hell -”

“You don’t get to talk right now! The package is a gift from the sweet sunshine that is OUR son who doesn’t want YOU to see him again because he’s nothing more than a joke to you! The files are the DNA results. I can’t believe that you thought I would stoop so low to use an innocent child to try and ruin your relationship when I’m happ - WAS- happy for you.”

A door was slammed shut.

Eraser Head read the name ‘Izuku Fukukado’ for the first and last time as it said that the DNA matches those of Emi Fukukado and Shouta Aizawa. He also received a pair of dark green goggles that he would keep hidden in a safe next to a broken set of yellow goggles.

~~ Fifteen Years Later ~~

“I’m telling Mama.”

“Now, Midoriya, I Insist on leaving your Mom out of this.”

“She will be. The woman who I call Mom or Mother is actually my Aunt. My biological mom - Mama - is who I’m informing. She’s an Underground hero and a teacher. I’m telling her.”

“Midoriya -”

“I’m telling Mama and that’s final All Might. She’s the only one besides my Aunt and Uncle Midoriya who believes that I’m not a joke in this world.”

“What about your Dad?”

“Also an Underground hero, but we don’t talk about him. He’s the one who called me a joke when I was six, but was smiling at his boyfriend’s child. So -”

“We’re telling your mom.”

“No. My Mama. When you meet her, you’ll understand. She had me young, but there are days where I wish she got rid of me instead of burdening herself with me.”

A hand ruffled the green curls and green eyes looked up at All Might.

“Well, I don’t think you are a joke and I am personally glad to have met you and that you are willing to give me a second chance when I don’t deserve it.”

~~Sixteen Years Later~~

Izuku knew something was bubbling under the surface of One for All as Class 1-A and Class 1-B went against each other with the addition of Shinsou. Izuku didn’t know what, but he knew something was going to happen because every time he looked at Shinsou, something was snapping inside, getting ready to release. His anger also went up to where Bakugou knew he was going to snap at whoever said the wrong thing today and had basically gone ahead and told him that he would stand behind him. Just in a Bakugou-esque way.

So, with countless eyes of his fellow peers, Aizawa, Sekijiro, and All Might, the one vs. one sparshad started.

“Next round. Class 1-A Midoriya Izuku vs the hopeful hero transfer Shinsou Hitoshi,” All Might said with a cough at the end.

“Oh hell,” Bakugou whispered, seeing Midoriya tense as he gritted his teeth.

“Todoroki,” Ilda said. “I’m messaging Auntie.”

Todoroki nodded. “She’s already been made aware that he’s about to snap. At this point, I think she’ll encourage it.”

“Is there something you'd like to share with the class,” Aizawa said.

“If there was, then we’ll share it, Sensei,” Todoroki said. “So, since we’re not sharing it then the answer is obviously no.”

Aizawa went to comment but All Might’s coughing yell of “Begin!” had them focusing on the battle.

“I don’t know why you’re such a loose cannon with your quirk,” Shinsou said as he examined his nails. “You have the most perfect quirk for being a hero, surely you received training for it. Or do you think it’s a joke to break your bones?”

“Oh hell no,” Bakugou said as Midoriya’s hands clenched into fists, his eyes became overshadowed by his hair as he looked down at his feet.

“Did you think that I would fall for something so simple as your act? That I would let you prank me by becoming my friend just to laugh in my face?” Shinsou said, looking at Midoriya.

“I hate you,” Midoriya said under his breath as his body shook.

“Is-Is Midobro okay?” Kirishima said.

“You need to stop the brawl,” Hakagure said, her gloved hands by what everyone assumed to be her mouth. “This isn’t like Midoriya!”

“The darkness in him is about to unleash,” Tokoyami said.

“Hm? What did you say?” Shinsou said with a smirk as he moved his hand up to his ear. “Did you say I was right?”

“I hate you,” Midoriya said louder and clearer. Venom dripped off of every word as he moved his feet to a different position. “I hate you!” Midoriya repeated again screaming it at the top of his lungs with hatred that made his throat burn, his eyes glowing with the green electricity that accompanies his lightning as he stared at Shinsou.

Midoriya felt something coil around him like a protective snake, his focus solely on his opponent that reminded him of a scared purple mouse that he didn’t notice the screams of Class 1-B or the concerned voices of Class 1-A as black tendrils with green lightning lashed out from his back, the biggest one curling around his main body like a boa constructor who was protecting them, or the way his shadow had changed shape that fit a hero who was a legend in the Underground Heroes scene, or that the shadow had moved its hands to make it look like they were holding onto Izuku’s own shoulders.

“I’ve tried so hard time and time again to be your friend because I wanted to know what made you so special,” Midoriya said, screaming at Shinsou. “Because for the longest time, I refused to believe it was because you had a quirk when I didn’t!”

One of the black tendrils that was moving about in the air, slammed down into the ground with 5% power behind it causing the ground to get destroyed and Shinsou having to dodge any of the debris.

“Midoriya! Stop the brawl!” Sekijiro said as he slammed his hand into one of the sharper edges of the destroyed ground before he stared at his now bleeding hand. “What the hell? I can’t use my quirk!”

“Erasure isn’t responding either!” Aizawa said.

“Here here,” Aoyama said quickly, taking his cape off and wrapping it around Hakagure who was now visible and shaking. “This is why a sparkling cape is always needed so no wardrobe malfunctions happen.”

“Thanks Aoyama,” Hakagure said, “but what about Midoriya?”

“He sounds so destroyed, almost like how Dark Shadow was at the training camp,” Shoji said.

“Nerd’s been keeping his emotions bottled up since we were six,” Bakugou said. “Effing eyebags jr. is the catalyst that finally sent him over the edge.” Bakugou made a motion that was familiar to Class 1-A of him releasing a mini explosion, but nothing happened. “Honestly, I would have blasted him out of the arena and ignored him if I was in that Nerd’s shoes.”

“So, what are we going to do? Let him murder the General Study student?” Awase asked.

“Midoriya isn’t going to kill him,” Todoroki said.

“He just needs to let go of his emotions before he falls into this hatred even more,” Ilda said.

“I was perceived to be quirkless for fifteen years of my life!” Midoriya screamed as a black tendril blocked Aizawa’s capture scarf from getting ahold of Midoriya. “I didn’t get my quirk until the day of the Entrance Exam for U.A. when I saved Urakara from the zero-pointer! That was the first time I used it!”

“Midoriya! Calm down!” Shinsou said, trying to use his quirk.

“Calm down? Why? Why should I be the one to calm down? For fifteen years, I only had three people believe in me,” Midoriya said, taking a step towards Shinsou. “Everyone else, my fellow classmates, my teachers, police, heroes, doctors, all thought my existence was a joke! It was only my Mom, Aunt, and Uncle who didn’t think I was a joke on this planet.”

The lighting on the black tendrils got brighter as All Might tried to rush forward but he felt something touching his shoulders that was familiar to his mentor. He looked behind him and saw a shadowy figure that was in his mentor’s shape and a shake of their head as pink eyes looked sadly at the ninth holder of One for All.

“Should I calm down so you can taunt me about how I had the most perfect childhood when you know NOTHING about me? When you don’t even know the truth behind my birth? About the reason behind my existence today?”

Shinsou dodged another tendril, using his own capture scarf to try and restrain Midoriya. A different tendril lashed at Sekijiro who rushed forward to get his arms around Midoriya only to get pushed back.

“I was mostly raised by my Aunt and Uncle because my mother was a teenager when she had me! I am the product of a corrupt hero who didn’t care about how much damage he caused to those he was supposed to protect and to help mold into being good heroes!”

A tendril yanked on Aizawa’s scarf causing the teacher to overbalance himself before he was tossed over their heads.

“Midoriya! Stop this at once! This is enough!” Aizawa said as he recovered and slid against the ground on his feet.

“My father didn’t want me. Every promise that he made to me, he broke until I turned seven!”

A tendril had wrapped itself around Shinsou, turned the brainwashing student around and slammed him face first into the ground. The tendril kept Shinsou there as Midoriya walked closer to the pinned student, the tendril that had curled itself around Midoriya untangled itself as it went back into his body.

“I was bullied everyday for my hobby, my quirklessness, my own biological father and mother not raising me, for my stupid belief that my father didn’t hate me because I was quirkless when everyone else around me told me that was the case. Everyone except for my Mama, Aunt and Uncle thought I was nothing more but a joke.”

“I’m sorry Nana,” All Might said, “but Midoriya needs to be stopped. He’s losing himself.”

“Ninth hasn’t lost himself yet,” Nana said as her shadow flickered. “He hasn’t attacked any of the other students, only those who are trying to interfere between something that needs to be said.”

Shinsou felt Midoriya place his knee against his back, his purple hair being tugged on until he was forced to watch Aizawa who was trying to activate his quirk while dodging a tendril and attacking it with a knife.

“I knew about you before the U.A. Sports Festival,” Midoriya said into Shinsou’s ear. “In fact, the first time I saw you was when you were seven and at the movie theater with your Pops and Dad. It was my own seventh birthday and my Mama was going to go and take me to see the very same movie that my father had promised to go see with me for my birthday. In fact, I was at his place the week before my birthday and I begged him to take me to the movie like he promised. That was when he called a six year old me a joke, but he looked so proud of you.”

A black tendril had thrown Sekijiro into the Class 1-B students as he had tried to charge forward again.

“When I saw you there with your Dad and Pops, I was so envious of you because I wanted to know what made you so special? WHY was you so goddamn special to get looked at with so much pride when my father wouldn’t even look at me,” Midoriya said.

“I’m sorry you had such a shitty father, but that has nothing to do with me,” Shinsou said struggling.

Midoriya chuckled at that. “Oh Shinsou, you have everything to do with it, but you haven’t figured it out, have you? Over who my father is?” Midoriya said as his breath ghosted over Shinsou’s ear. “Tell me, why does he get to treat you with fatherly love? Why did you get to become his personal student, when all I have done for most of my life was to stay out of his life, not give a hint over my past with him, and all I get in response is being his ‘Problem Child’ when all I want to hear from him is ‘I’m proud of you, son.’”

Shinsou’s eyes widened as he put the dots together and the tendrils disappeared, but he was still pinned under Midoriya. Aizawa’s eyes focused on them taking in their appearance.

“The Pro-Hero, your mentor, and the teacher that you so fondly call ‘Dad’ is my actual father,” Midoriya said as he got off of Shinsou. He then grabbed Shinsou and spun him around so they were face-to-face. “And he thinks my whole existence is a freaking prank created by Mama to destroy his relationship with your Pops.”

Shinsou fell onto his back as Midoriya pushed him out of bounds before Aizawa’s capture scarf wrapped around Midoriya tightly keeping his whole body restrained. Shinsou could vaguely hear his Dad tell Sekijiro to hold onto Midoriya while he was checked over for injuries as he watched Midoriya’s eyes lose their brightness and go into a dark ugly green color. Those green eyes that always brightened up whenever Shinsou was close had dimmed and filled with envy, tiredness, and defeat, but underneath it all was pride and acceptance.

“I’m glad,” Midoriya mouthed to him, “that he’s a good Dad to you.”

Shinsou blinked and Midoriya had collapsed, his body completely limp in the Class 1-B homeroom’s teachers arms.

“Midoriya!” more than one voice had called out but the loudest one seemed to come from Shinsou himself which startled him.

He watched as Aizawa took a hold of Midoriya and ran inside the building as Sekijiro took over and started giving out orders.

The teacher that you so fondly call Dad is my actual father kept repeating itself around Shinsou’s head as he walked to his Pops office, his body shaking. He needed to talk to his Pops about everything because what only his family knew was that Shinsou only lets his tears fall around his Pops, and right now, Shinsou wanted nothing more but to cry his eyes out and thank his Pops for being proud of him, for being there for him, for loving him and his quirk, and for never thinking that he was a joke.

“What do you mean you’re not going to enforce my punishment?” Aizawa said, staring down at his boss. “We told Midoriya to stop which he didn’t do and -”

“I am aware of what happened,” Nedzu said. “However, as educators and in your case, parents, we cannot punish a child because of a quirk awakening. Midoriya even mentioned to Shinsou that he didn’t receive his quirk until the U.A. entrance exam so he’s still learning everything about his quirk, but I would prefer if everyone was still on the same page to start with.”

“It’s okay,” Yamada said, placing a hand on his husband’s shoulder. “Midoriya didn’t do any serious harm to Hitoshi and Hitoshi has even asked that Midoriya not be punished. The green bean had a lot that he wanted to talk to Hitoshi about, but with Hitoshi always refusing his friendship time and time again, Midoriya had snapped.”

“Yes, but -”

“You’ve never punished Koda when he sent dogs after a second-year who said people that are selective mute can never be a hero,” Nedzu said. “You haven’t punished Mina or Jirou for attacking Mineta, or Bakugou. Every one of your students except for Midoriya until today has thrown something in what you humans call a ‘temper tantrum’ and haven’t punished them. Why is Midoriya different? Is it because he went after your son?”

Aizawa looked down and sighed. “I’m sorry, I did let my feelings get the best of me, but I couldn’t use my quirk and I don’t know what Midoriya told Hitoshi while Hitoshi was pinned. The whole spar had everyone shocked with how Midoriya acted and all that he revealed. He needs to see Hound Dog for sure, however.” Aizawa collapsed into his chair and sighed. “Is there a reason why no one had bothered to tell me that Problem Child’s quirk came in so late? I wouldn’t have thought about expelling him if -”

“You wouldn’t have been allowed to expel him in the first place,” Nedzu said. “His mind is truly remarkable and I wouldn’t dream of letting his mind go to waste at Ketsubetsu.”

Yamada and Aizawa looked concerned as Nedzu took a drink of his tea. “The principal would only teach Midoriya the fundamentals of analysis and intel gathering,” the principal said.

“Which is why he’s planning on taking a work study with her next year first before becoming your personal student,” a new female voice said, joining in on the conversation.

Aizawa and Yamada looked at the newcomer just as Yagi closed the door to the conference room. Light green shoulder length hair moved in what appeared to be waves from their natural loose curls as the lady walked towards the other side of the conference table, her forest eyes never looking at the two hero teachers as she passed them, a black sleeveless dress was paired with a light blue mini sweater and not the outfit that they usually saw their guest in. Blue heels clicked against the floor until the sound of a chair rolling across the floor as she pulled a chair out to sit down on it.

“Thank you so much for coming on such short notice, Fukukado. How is Midoriya doing?”

“He’s still asleep. Recovery Girl said he might awake some time tonight or tomorrow because his energy is completely depleted,” she said. “I trust Shindo enough to not leave his side while we have this meeting and my agency already knows I’m not doing patrol tonight. Little Ilda and Todoroki won’t let anyone near Izuku who they do not approve of and Urakara and Tsu have already said they will bring food to them if this meeting lasts that long.”

“Fukukado!” Yamada said in surprise. “It’s been such a long time! You’re looking great! We should hang out sometime outside of our hero patrols and catch up.”

“Why are you here?” Aizawa said, glaring at her.

Yagi sat down next to her. “She’s Young Midoriya’s Mama,” Yagi said.

“The kid is almost seventeen years old and he calls you Mama?” Aizawa said with a raised eyebrow.

“Shou! The little listener can -” Yamada said before he stopped mid-sentence, “oh tea.”

“Tea is delicious. Would you like a cup?” Nedzu said. “You might need it.”

“From what Hitoshi told me, Midoriya said he was mostly raised by his Aunt and Uncle, but he calls you Mama. Is he your son?” Yamada said, which caused Aizawa to cough in shock.

“It was Izuku’s choice to change his last name to my brother-in-law’s name to protect himself and me when he was seven. The same year I debuted as a hero on my own as Ms. Joke. The nights I didn’t have patrol, he stayed with me and worked on his homework while I worked on mine to become a teacher, but I always spent time with him after he got done with school,” Fukukado said. “Before we get too engrossed in this conversation, Principal Nedzu, would it be okay if I take Izuku out of the dorms for a week or two? He’s going to need to see his therapist because he’s just going to put too much pressure and guilt on himself again. He will start blaming himself, saying that he has no right to be angry or feel the emotions that he does feel, and quite honestly, his therapist wants him to talk about this while it is still fresh.”

“I find that to be acceptable and will approve,” Nedzu said with a nod. “The conversation over Midoriya’s parentage can be discussed when everyone is here like Shinsou and Midoriya. Yagi, Fukukado, does -”

“Yes. Midoriya still wants them to know about his quirk or quirks,” Yagi said. “He wishes for Young Shinsou to know as well but he wishes to discuss that with Shinsou himself while Ilda and Todoroki are with him.”

“I would love to know where the little Trickster learned his forgiving nature, but it is for the best,” Fukukado said.

“You said quirks. As in, more than one?” Aizawa said.

“You remember the villain that I fought to save Young Bakugou? His name is All for One and he had a younger brother-” Yagi said.

After the origin story of All for One, One for All, All Might, and now the hero Deku had been told, Aizawa was on the verge of screaming. However, it was his husband that had the screaming under control while Aizawa still thought back to the fact that Midoriya, his Problem Child, the one who he wanted to expel, was his son.

“Why were we not informed of this?” Yamada said. “We should’ve been informed of this since the green bean started in the U.A.!”

“That was something in which Izuku wanted, but Yagi and I said no, at least in your case, Yamada,” Fukukado said. “As for you, Aizawa, can you guess why?”

“I have a theory, but does it have to do with what I told him when he was younger?” Aizawa said.

“Shouta, what is that supposed to mean?” Yamada said, looking over at his husband.

“Izuku is not as petty as I am and has forgiven you for that,” Fukukado said with a shake of her head. “No. Just like how he thought you didn’t love him because he didn’t have a quirk, he thought you wouldn’t help him because he used to be quirkless. Honestly, he changed so much of himself so you wouldn’t recognize him. He’s a genius, Aizawa, he loves to learn and analyze things. He learned things he never should have learned at such a young age, like that one night sixteen years ago, and is the main reason why he’s been in therapy since he was eight.”

“What are you saying, Fukukado?” Yamada said.

“Back to the discussion of One for All, I believe that Midoriya is so exhausted because he had two quirks manifest themselves at the same time today.”

“Two quirks?” Yagi said.

“The black tendrils that came from Izuku’s body is Black Whip. A quirk that originally belonged to Daigoro Banjo,” Fukukado said resting her elbows on the table. “I did a research project on him for my teacher’s license so I’m sure he was a past One for All user. But what other quirk did the Trickster manifest?”

“His own quirk. When Midoriya has time, I would like to discuss it more with him, but until Midoriya had calmed down, we was able to see Hakagure’s physical body, Ojiro had lost his tail, just to name a few examples of mutant-type quirks that disappeared, not including Aizawa couldn’t use his own erasure quirk and Sekijiro couldn’t get any of his blood to act the way he wanted too. I suspect that his own quirk is a combination of Aizawa’s erasure with your own quirk of outburst,” Nedzu said.

“Izuku never really let his emotions get out of control like that before so it’s possible that to activate his quirk, he needed to let go of his emotions just once,” Fukukado said. “Even when he was a child, he never wanted to bother anyone with his emotions and just kept them bottled up because he felt like he wasn’t entitled to express his emotions for ‘ruining’ my life.”

~~

Shinsou stood outside of Recovery Girl’s office starting at Todoroki. “I’m supposed to see Recovery Girl?” Shinsou said.

“You’ve already seen her. I was by Midoriya’s side when she saw you. You just want to see Midoriya, don’t you?” Todoroki said.

“I’m...worried, okay? He told me a lot and-”

“Midoriya is asleep but we will be sure to tell him of your concerns when he wakes,” Ilda said.

“Or is it because you want to accept his friendship now that you know the two of you are ‘brothers’?” Todoroki said.

Shinsou flinched. “Wait, y-you know?”

“So doesn’t Urakara and Tsu,” Ilda said. “We...all share issues.”

“Quirk marriages,” Todoroki said, pointing to himself. “Urakara has money issues.”

“My brother is held in such high esteem that my parents have unhealthy expectations of me,” Ilda said. “Tsu’s mother expects her to take over the mother role for her siblings when she’s home.”

“We all have issues,” Todoroki said. “Anyway, you shouldn’t push him to see you when he wakes up.”

“Will he even want to see me after this? I did steal his father away from him,” Shinsou said.

Ilda nodded. “Yes, Midoriya would still want to see you, but it might not be for the reason in which you believe it will be for.”

~~

When Midoriya woke up, it was to the feel of thin fingers running through his hair, the vibrations of a familiar song being hummed to him that he remembers always helped him sleep when he was younger, had him curling up against the person. His head tucked underneath their companion’s neck.

“Am I in trouble?” Midoriya said.

“Not at all, my Trickster,” Fukukado said. “Yamada and Aizawa both know everything from your quirk to what happened when all of us were younger. A warning for you though, Yamada isn’t happy with how he found out that you are like his step-son or that your illogical father would think that I would joke about being pregnant. Yamada plans on spoiling you and letting you know how proud he is of you.”

“...what about Aizawa-sensei?” Midoriya said, closing his eyes.

“He will be getting questioned by Ilda and Todoroki. Shindo won’t let you be anywhere near Shinsou alone unless you tell him otherwise,” Fukukado said. “He would like to speak with you.”

“They can wait until I wake back up, right? Or does it have to be now?”

“Everyone can wait until you’re well rested and ready,” Fukukado said. She moved some of his green hair out of her way to press a kiss on his forehead. She looked over son’s head to stare at Aizawa who stood in the shadows, watching and listening.

“Sleep well, my little Trickster. I’m so proud of you and I’m sure that somewhere in his dark heart, Aizawa is just as proud of you.”
