October 1st
No new cases. Lots of paperwork, meeting with Director scheduled
October 2nd
Consulted on case for Boston PD- not serial, suspect identified
Spencer back from teaching, helped me catch up on paperwork
October 3rd
Caught a case in Montana. Bad. In the hotel now, hoping to start fresh in the morning. Hoping no new victims tonight, but it’s likely. Hoping Locals will get their heads out of their asses. Lots of dumb men. Hard to get things done.
Have to wrap up case tomorrow, or fly back without team to meet Director- won’t reschedule.
October 5th
Finished case this morning. Suicide by cop- JJ’s shot. Hate when it doesn’t go to trial, glad it’s over. Local cops were no help.
Made it back in time for the meeting. Speaking of… no idea what to make of it. Promotion likely… lots to consider.
I can see PG coming from across bullpen- Girls Night, can’t decide what to tell them about meeting
October 10th

October 13th
My Birthday yesterday. Was supposed to just have dinner with T, but of course PG roped her into a surprise party. That woman’s been trying as long as I’ve known her and never succeeded, but the second I get a girlfriend she can manipulate into helping her… It was good. Never been one for the whole ‘public praising of Emily’ thing but it was basically drinks at Ziggy’s so I could kind of pretend it wasn’t happening. Until PG got the whole place to sing Happy Birthday, which was… T is really bad at surprising me, and I could tell she was happy she got me on this one, and so I played along for her and before I knew it I was having fun. It was nice, dancing with her out with the team like that. I wouldn’t change the day we did things, but I’m glad everyone knows now.
Haven’t told anyone about the promotion yet, except Tara of course. The Director asked about her during our meeting. Tried to play it off as small talk, but I think he was trying to gauge if I thought she could work under me. As if she doesn’t already. We talked more about JJ, and I think she’s the more natural fit to take over.
Can’t lie, Executive Assistant Director Emily Prentiss sounds good.
