Work Text:
Time passes my grasp in the void,
both the first and last sight behind me is Darkness.
And...
this is what my heart wanted.
I won't dare complain about the path I've chosen...
But did I listen closely to my heart?
Or were the words to destiny different than what I remember?
...No, they are not...
because destiny isn't present here.
I deserve to have my presence used as a puppet for his manipulation...
every time I see light he pulls my strings,
telling me what to say,
what I am supposed to be like...
does he even remember how I once acted?
And when the darkness returns,
I feel...nothing.
Because all I do in the dark
is gaze upon my memories,
and think about her
and them
and I pretend to be there again,
and pretend that I still have something worth cherishing
and pretend I knew what my purpose was.
My void dreams always end in the same pain.
Even when hurt seemed neither here nor there.
Driven by my own guilt, creating the ego of my own destruction,
I set out for the hatred of the Earthbread.
And so did I get.
All the kingdom spoke of me,
was of how much of a vile sorcerer I had become.
Twisted, rotten, an abomination to my own prayer
that all may remain crispy and fresh.
And all they spoke of me
was in reminisce of the faithful leader who I used to be.
To all of which,
I understood.
Though...
if I could feel just...
one spark of joy,
I wonder
if something might react
and there could be a chance of reclaiming who I am?...
As I thought so,
through the darkest abyss,
the light of truth shone brightly across
reaching out for me
as I walked toward it,
I finally wondered how much longer I'd be the bringer of my own suffering
weeping in the sorrow of someone I was supposed to overcome.
...
No! I can't keep torturing myself like this!
This is the way...the freedom to my burden.
...Even if my presence will only be an illusion, I can be free from this curse!
...My memories will separate from me...
...but that's a small price to pay compared to remaining here.
For they may have my body, my memories...
but they will never have the thing that made me who I am...
And I will no longer let them use my identity to misguide-!
