Work Text:
Buck has been seeing Bobby long enough to grow a little more comfortable in openly flirting with him. For a while, Buck felt the need to tread more carefully than he had in the past, because this thing he has with Bobby? It’s different than any of his old relationships. It feels different, and Bobby means more to him than anyone else he’s dated before so he really doesn’t want to fuck this up.
But it’s been a few months now and Bobby hasn’t dumped him yet, so Buck figures he’s safe to loosen up a little bit around him.
So when Bobby texts him and asks Buck if he’s free later, Buck replies with:
‘For you? Absolutely.’ And then follows it up with:
‘Ready for some 🍆 😏’
Buck can imagine the slight flush on Bobby’s cheeks as he reads it while he finishes up reports in his office and the eye-roll that likely accompanies it. He expects some sarcastic response or to be told that he’s too old to be flirting with emojis. Instead, he’s pleasantly surprised to get one back.
Bobby: 🔥🔥
Well then. That’s unexpected, but definitely not unwelcome.
Bobby: Better have a big appetite.
Well then.
Buck isn’t sure what’s come over Bobby, but he has to assume it’s his own wonderful influence finally coming into play. About damn time he got Bobby to loosen up a bit.
Buck decides to keep the playful mood going and arrange himself so that he’s very strategically positioned, lounging entirely naked on his sofa when Bobby comes in…
...with a brown bag full of groceries?
“What are you doing?” Bobby asks, eyebrows raised so high they’re practically in his hairline.
“What are you doing?” Buck counters, suddenly much less certain about his seduction technique.
“...I brought eggplant,” Bobby says, holding up the brown bag. “To make for dinner?”
Buck can’t help it - he snorts at the absurdity of the miscommunication.
“We need to teach you what emojis mean,” Buck says, still laughing, his head thrown back a bit dramatically with the exaggerated action. Because this is actually hilarious, even if Bobby doesn’t look amused at all, only more confused.
“I know what an eggplant is, Buck, I-” Bobby starts, then stops abruptly when Buck looks pointedly down at his penis, and Bobby follows his gaze. “Oh.”
“If I ever text you a peach I definitely don’t want you to bring half the orchard to my apartment in a bag,” Buck adds helpfully, swinging his legs over the side of the sofa to sit up. “Let me put some pants on and I’ll help you cook.”
Bobby sets the bag down and walks over to Buck, placing his hands on Buck’s bare things, running them up along his side.
“It’s just us. Don’t go getting dressed on my account,” Bobby says, and the low, steady tone of his voice sends goosebumps along Buck’s skin.
“Isn’t cooking naked a safety hazard?” Buck drawls, not actually concerned.
Bobby huffs out a laugh and Buck catches the sound, and Bobby’s lips, in a kiss.
“You’ve never followed a voluntary safety precaution before, I highly doubt you’re going to start now,” Bobby points out when he pulls away. “I’ll keep you on breading duty, far from the stove. Don’t worry.”
Buck knows they’re mostly teasing, but he can’t help a moment of pure sentimentality when it presents itself so perfectly. He looks into Bobby’s eyes and smiles warmly.
“I never do when I’m with you.”
